I got an email from them saying my EA has been approved. I was then asked to go and reschedule my appointment. I now saw earliest date for December. Which I picked one that was suitable for me.

Did you have to send the documents it to an email ?

No. I requested for EA on the portal. I attached 3 documents. My i20, SEVIS fee payment confirmation receipt and my passport data page. I also gave a reason why I needed the EA.
