robinobehi: Hello great NL...pls how can I get police report done? I can It still be done on monday or tuesday?....our interview na WEDNESDAY ooooo!!!
robinobehi: T @vikkyplus......still I have another issue, can my interview date be postponed?
I have not yet been able †o get passport for my daughter, which will automatically won't let us go for niether †he medicals nor †he interview.....pls advice.......I am so downcasted right now!!!! I think we've lost it
If your case is genuine, I will advice you as follows:
1. If your daughter is below 18 years old, her passport will not require confirmation from Abuja, hence you can obatain it between tomorrow and Monday
2. Since u have your own passports, you may contact Mr. Samuel at Alagbon on saturday for your Police Report (he did it for most of NL btw 2k and 2k5), he will get it ready for u against Monday, then u will collect it immediately you are done with your daughter's passport.
Note: For contacts to fastrack 1 & 2 above, you may contact any old member here as I have shared it with most people or PM me
3. I assume you have done your own medicals, then you may go for your daughter's medical on Tuesday and show receipt to them at the emberssy that her medical result isnt ready, that cannot disturb your interview.
4. Pls, dont miss your interview for any reason as I doubt rescheduling of interview for 2014 set, especially at this time of fiscal year.
Wishing you all the best

adesojiaderemi: to all my friends out there,
Understand Employment Background Checks(culled froM "A matter of fact"wink

What Is A Background Check? - An Employment Background Check may be best described as an Application Verification. An employment background check allows an employer to verify information provided by an applicant on a resume or job application. Independent sources such as criminal and civil court records, prior employers, educational institutions, and departments of motor vehicles are researched. The information obtained is then compared to the information provided by the applicant and reviewed for any negative material.

Most Employers Do Background Checks - Most employers do some form of an employment background check. This can be as simple a reference check, or as in-depth as covering everything from criminal record checks to interviewing friends and neighbors.

Why Employers Do Background Checks - Employers conduct background checks to meet regulatory, insurance, and customer requirements; increase applicant and new hire quality; reduce workplace violence; avoid bad publicity; protect against negligent hiring liability; reduce employee dishonesty losses; reduce employee turnover; and hire the right person the first time. An employer has the obligation to provide a safe workplace for employees, customers, and the public. See Why Background Checks?

What Do They Look For In A Background Check? - Employers look for discrepancies between an applicant’s claims and what is reported by schools, prior employers, etc. They also look for negative reports such as a bad Driving Record or a Criminal History that would impact the applicant's job qualifications. See What Do Employers Look For in a Background Check?

What Is In A Background Check For Employment? - Anything from an applicant's history CAN come up. It depends how detailed the background check is, who conducts the background check, how far back they go, who they talk to, what information they check, and what laws apply in the particular situation. If there are any black marks in an applicant's past, it is pretty hard to keep them a secret. See What Shows Up On A Background Check For Employment?

A typical basic background check may include county criminal record checks, a social security number scan, employment history verification, and education verification. Depending on the job, a more complete background check may include common items such as a motor vehicle report, a credit report, license and certification verification, reference checks, a sex offender registry check, or county civil record searches. See Comprehensive Background Check.

Your Rights - The FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) is the primary federal law regulating employment background checks. Despite its name the FCRA applies to all employment backgrounds checks conducted by a third party whether they include a credit report or not. See A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

In addition to the FCRA, there are many other Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations that may impact a particular employment background check. See Background Check Laws & Regulations.
Good one bro. Pls discuss the 'W4' and its impact

biggie1o2: hello house, my sister landed in chicago on sunday evening but at a little hitch at her POE. Unknowingly, her medicals has expired so her passport was seized pending when she gets her tests redone. this might delay her registering and getting her SSN on time. i need advice on how possible she can get this sorted out.
Ouch! you are reporting this late, but its a lesson for all because, had it been you said it before she board, its simpler and cheaper in Nigeria, she would have just gone back to the clinic where it was done and update, then embassy will re-package (within a day), thats all.
So now, all hope isnt gone still, but its costly because its in $$$ rate. she will be compelled to repeat the medical in a US hospital and submit, then her passport will be returned to her, thats all.

StSteven: Good day House...
I just heard High courts are on strike. Anyone know if we can still get the NPC attestation without the HighCourt Affidavit?
And please, what else do we need apart from the police report, wedding certificate and photos, school results, medical and the visa fee?
please read and reply, we are jst getting prepared
osufamily: Good morning house,im @ d high court in ikoyi they are on strike i guess i will just go with my old birth certificate tired of the stress atleast d embassy should be aware of the high court strike...
Birth Affidavit is compulsory to obtain NPC attestation of birth but not necessarily from High Court, so you may try alternative courts except Notary.
I believe u alert the V.O with the bolded statement as well.
But on a serious note, no one has ever been denied VISA for not having NPC attestation when there are alternative acceptable documents to prove your age, the bottom line is been sincere and they know mostly, when u lie or alter documents.
I do hope it helps?

HABRUZZY: good morning NL families please i have a question pls an undergraduate who is currently in year 2 in the university . what category do i fall under the listed Highest level of education you have achieved, as of

no diploma, (3) High school diploma, (4) Vocational
school, (5) Some university courses, (6) University degree, (7) Some graduate-level courses, ( Master’s degree, (9) Some doctoral - level courses,
and (10) Doctorate.

If for purpose of sending to KCC / interview, I will advise you stick to (3) High school diploma on the form and during interview, u can explain that you are in University............

007 of our time! as I always call u in private chats, Congratulations once again on your 'chat' Lolz, even though we've chatted on several medium.
Definitely US Embassy participates on NL, this revelation has been made from the interviews of Freshie, Obatide (myself) and Odewenwa to mention but a few, being one of the reasons I sought for graduation of threads after my interview and later created BBM group.
In order not to scare future interviewee, pls note that
* Your post here does not have negative impact on your visa approval if you are honest with everything. They always look for the truth, even if you have done anything wrong in the past, be the first to say it before being discovered by them.
* For anyone to respond to any inquiry, pls don’t be too categorical or authoritative, rather, offer of advice (since only the COs have most authentic answers) this will not make them think you are an Agent who exploit people.
* Even when we get to the US, let’s be guided on our utterances and review our past records too, because, for most things here in US, they conduct investigations into your past records and most of their things here are automated, so with a click, it comes to daylight. (Try it yourself by typing your name or any of your IDs or info on Google and see wonders)
* Once again, I congratulate everyone whose visa were approved after my last comment here, especially, Tdedun (God will complete it and do what HE only can do - Mercy). Don’t let us forget that against all odds, prayer is the master key and not forget our monthly fasting and prayers.
* Wishing everyone all the best as we look towards the get-to-gether in US on Thanksgiving Day (Don’t be surprised if a ‘CO’ from Lagos and Justwise are our guests that day among other dignitaries)
Pls don’t be annoy with my absence on the forum for a while, its all about new immigrants hustling, thanks and bye for now

justwise:

...and it also discusses many things OBATIDE listed, like i said before, ask your question in that thread, those who are in America now went through the process and will advice you, there is no need for a new thread as long as that thread still exist.

justwise:

Ask that question here https://www.nairaland.com/1058937/diversity-visa-immigrant-welcome-america

People who went through the process will tell you how they did it.

tosinjoe: I think d talkd abt new thread shuld b created, i feel it will b more explanatory and detailed, d welcome to America thread was/is good and helpful, buh it doesn't have so much attention anymore

coop: Happy new year of abundance favour and turnarounds to d Aoz.

plz, on the issue of new thread, I beg that's not d main reasons we are all here. before you know it d love ,interest and supports here will be distabilized if care is not taken. plz, instead we should by now attending to needy and to pple awaiting interview pls. some of us did not aware of d existing thread before, we can go back there and make it lively and actualize the reasons and make it elaborate. Buh I think new one would be fresh and united. it doesn't overwrite old one,we still refers to 2013 dv winners forum, So notin spoil. ( old testament n New testament are beneficial.

Na who get Visa go start de prepare go America . One Luv

justwise:

Preparation for migration can only be advised by people in that thread because they have gone through the process and got more knowledge in that aspect than me and you.

I'm not bothered about creates thread here in travel section as long as the thread adds something new to what we have already.
@Justwise: Do these make any meaning to you?

Mr. Justwise
Thanks for your contributions & moderation of the threads which have been a good source of Information that is helping us.
I quite understand your submission to the ongoing debate and I must even thank you for allowing such debate to see the light of the day.
However, the topic has been revised as suggested by forumites not to take care of only DV issues, hence:
Preparation for migration and settling down in the USA after Visa approval is adopted.
Without repeating what has been said earlier, the purpose of the one you referred us to is:
adesojiaderemi@:
When they first arrive, diversity visa immigrants face some natural barriers to full social and economic
integration. The gap between them and the rest of society narrows over time, however, as dv immigrants
and their beneficiaries entered The United state there are a thousands of questions on their mind; this thread is dedicated to post dv lottery questions and answers.

Whereby this one will bridge the gap between the two threads

If we talk of multiple threads, there wouldn’t be: 2014 Dv winners meet here because all what we are discussing here have been discussed in other threads before, but for relevance and update purpose, You created it and its working. Why don’t you allow for more sir? Or create it by yourself, I don’t mind and you will see how it will grow.(mind you, no thread can be everlasting but serves a purpose)

You can have my best assurance that it’s not about creating a class as you assumed, but to share and get prompt answers to questions asked by the concerned. I therefore appeal that you revisit your Decision sir.
To my fellow mates, pls let’s respect the person of Mr. Justwise and address the issue at hand only, remember that even within the house, we have earlier argued on the need for and against before agreement, so I see this as the next hurdle to cross. God bless us all

Greeting to Everybody
Thanks for the intelligent we have all displayed to analyze one of my posts, I duly appreciate both reactions, at least, it makes people to contribute and share their honest feeling, God bless us all.
In summary
1. It shows we are all one big family and need more information to succeed on this journey whilst keeping in touch as mates even in America.
2. Those who argued against creation of the new thread, said so not to abandon this current one while those in support share that too, but in addition, they considered rules guiding posting on Nl as well.
What prompts me to suggest a thread for ‘that’ purpose are:
I Observed that
1. Most of members who have had their visas approved are not that active on the thread unlike their activities before interview except very few of them. Do u notice that too?
2. This thread, ‘2014 Dv winners meet here’ deals with necessary process needed to have a successful interview
3. The thread; ‘Diversity visa immigrant? Welcome to America’ contains information we need after arriving America (I have been a regular poster there too, pls read). Hence, the stage between Successful approval of visa and Arrival in USA has not been comprehensively discussed like the two mentioned threads.
4. Most of 2013 people do try their best to assist on information there but work don’t give them that total freedom as in my personal chat with some of them to ensure they contribute regularly on 2014 thread, you will hear something like ‘You wouldn’t understand until you get here, because time is money here in America, but I do reply those who mailed memy concern is what happen to people who don’t have their mail or social medial handle but need such info too?
5. There is need to graduate the processes, which I believe will keep us together. Say
a. 2014 Dv winners meet here; process towards interview
b. Yet to be created thread; planning Migration after successful Interview
c. Diversity visa immigrant? Welcome to America; settling down in USA
My submission
1. I appeal and promise that this thread will not suffer as a result of graduated process
2. Having a graduated process will bond us together the more and give each segment a full sense of belonging
3. There will not be deviation from Subject matters of each thread; hence NL rule will be kept.
Conclusion
I have no inferior motive behind creation of the thread and don’t think NL pays those who have created topics before, so my motive is to enable us rub mind together on every stage of the process to avoid extortions and exploitations by Agents.
Therefore, I suggest that if anybody could edit this topic; ‘Preparation for Migration after Diversity visa Approval’ before it’s finally created, I will appreciate it.

Thanks and Wishing you all a Happy and Properous Year 2014!

chiwuike20: Denial
chiwuike20: I lost my cool and cudnt think clearly. Just imagine somebody who was admitted to study law not able to elaborate on demand and price?
I was not able to defend my olevel so they thought It wasn't mine.

I would have contacted you via PM, but I believe others could benefit from this important discussion.
To my understanding, all hope is not lost and that’s reason for my late comment since your interview. I made some contacts to seek for advice in addition to what I think I know (It’s unfortunate that the Visa officer’s thread had been closed, there were case of denial that were re-visited via complaint on that thread. You can go through it), hence my advice is this:
Re Commit it unto GOD for DIVINE FAVOR to start with.
Then,
Send Mail to: lagosIV@state.gov to appeal.
On the appeal content, explain the interview experience, say a cogent reason of your under-performance on the subject tested on (I don’t want to elaborate too much on the reasons you will give, but I believe you are up to task to reason on what you will say)
Let wait for response as I strongly believe you will be given a fair hearing but be prepared very well when you are re-invited because, they would want to drill you very well academically.

Whishing you all the best

kennex89: House i received my 2nl through this website https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/Esc/Secure/StatusCheck.aspx but it hasnt gotten to my email yet, i dont know why. Please should i wait for KCC to send it to my email or i can still go with the one gotten from the websites.
Congratulations.
Once you have seen it (2NL) on the site above, print and start the processes immediately, email is just for alert, check your spam mail, the alert will be there, which is not even part of requirements.
Hence, its not compulsory

Congratulations to you on the success on your interview and i appreciate you so much for your usual response in this forum.
Pls I'm equally a family of Five like you and was successful too but right now,i want to pay on line for the USCIS fees.
Kindly explain to me the meaning of billing address as required, security code and Zip code.
Meanwhile I'm using master card to pay.therefore, i couldn't understand the meaning of these questions please your attention is urgently needed as I'm on the site presently.
Thanks.
Billing adress is the adress you filled while opening your bank account.
Security code is at back of your master card. Ranges between 3 numbers and above.
Zip code for Nigeria is +234

ineco: @all,I really appreciated u concern,tnx
Very much appreciation for taking to advice of people.
However, you may also be a great asset here, sharing information that could help others.
If you are destined to live in America, God will do it in a Miraculous way. Immagine one of our members here, who said he had been placing American Flag in his car right from his first car (funny? grin grin grin), and this year, God surprised him by making him one of selectees, he's due to be interviewed very soon and I believe that God has approve his VISA.
My own case also, All my 3 kids have wonderful and noticable American Names (at times, people make jests why I have to do that, even asking for the meaning of those names) and very recently, God confirmed his Word.
So relax, seeing that signs, God Has a plan for you and it will manifest at the appointed time.
Hope I dont board you sir?
