The Federal Government and the Academic Staff
Union of Universities have reached an agreement to
end the over five month old strike by ASUU. The
lecturer’s association has however said that its
members may return to work next week.
The Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom
Wike told journalists at a meeting with the
leadership of ASUU, President of the Nigeria Labour
Congress, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian
Universities Commission and five vice- chancellors
of universities that all contending issues between
the parties have been resolved.
The parties signed a document to seal the
agreement which spells great hope that the over
five-month old strike may be called off within one
week, although the president of ASUU, Professor
Nasir Faggae declined to say what was contained in
the document.
ASUU’s demands include the upward review of the
retirement age for professors from 65 to 70;
adequate funding to revitalise the university
system; progressive increase of budgetary
allocations to the education sector by 26 per cent;
transfer of federal government property to
universities; setting up of research and
development units by companies; payment of
earned allowances; and renegotiation of the signed
agreement.
The agreement between the two is reached barely
24 hours after the Special Assistant on Public
Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe presented a proof of
payment of N200 billion into an account with the
Central Bank of Nigeria.
The strike began on July 1 st 2013 and lasted for
over five months before this resolution was
reached.

well I guess u still don't get my friend, my last post is very explanatory, maybe u try reading it again... and yes, I did see 0% as I went to check my post utme scores. that's wat they decided to give me as the scores I got. Who am I to oppose it. so ask yourself, if that's really my actual scores, y would they give me admission? it can't be corruption cos am miles away from unijos for me to bribe or beg anybody and it can't be luck cos I don't believe in it.

Godian45: my brother am still shocked o hw can someone who scored 0/100 gain admission am not sure if state or private uni can do this,this is corruption in it highest order sha let see hw does who got admitted with 0% cope with school.

hey if u referring to me in the aspect of coping with school u might be lost there cos am already a 2.1 graduate with a civil engineering degree which I got for my dad since that's the course he wanted me to do. now am gonna do the one I wanna do.. and by the way, this computer based test had a lot of issues... do u actually believe someone would get 0% even as English language was one of the test course

can some good Samaritan also find out for me how many people got admission into computer science department N if possible the courses for 100 level first semester

my great josite aspirants, I think unijos Actually didn't use the post ume they organised in giving this admission just because of the fact that it caused a lot of controversies or if they had I wouldn't have gotten the admission at all. I got 220 in the jamb and well... in my post ume, my score wasn't funny at all (0%). so I guess they offered this admission base on jamb score, catchment area and obviously Remedials
