Politics / Re: Aiteo Oppression In Niger Delta by oddymc: 3:48pm On Feb 17, 2017
It’s always very disheartening when I find reactions to grievances that border on threats and violence. We are in a democracy and individuals and groups are free to voice their discontent. But I wonder how justified is the vitriolic attack on Aiteo Group as an ‘illegal’ company out to destroy the communities in the Niger Delta.

If Aiteo was truly illegal, why then did the militants in question sign a contract with them to secure pipelines and oil installation facilities in the first place?

A contract is only valid if both parties mutually agree. If truly one of the parties has decided that it does not want to proceed, I wonder why that justifies bombing oil installations in an already troubled region. If peace and equity are the intent of the Black Egbesu as claimed, the group would not resort to threats to oil installations which would certainly cost lives. After all, an employer is free to terminate the contract of the employed for justifiable reasons.

I don’t intend to hold brief for any of the aggrieved parties, but my checks have revealed that Aiteo is one of Africa’s major players in the exploration and distribution of energy with offices in Lagos, the UK and Geneva. I find it hard to believe that a company with such a pedigree would deliberately stoke the embers of violence and carnage in the troubled Niger Delta region.

Let’s give peace a chance in this country and resolve grievances amicably.
Nairaland / General / Revealed: Kola Aluko Not On The Order List Of £2m Ferrari Sergio by oddymc: 6:29pm On Dec 04, 2014
International Nigerian businessman, Kola Aluko is not one of six loyal customers that have reportedly placed an order for the new £2m-worth Ferrari Sergio as recently reported in some new media news portals, checks by TheStreamNG News have revealed.

In our tradition to verified news story we broadcast, TheStreamNG News put a call to the exhibition company to confirm the reports; but a representative of the company stated that Mr. Aluko or indeed any businessman of African origin is not one of the six loyal customers that have ordered for the Ferrari.

The elite class Pininfarina Sergio is reportedly “built as a one-off showpiece honouring the late patriarch of the Italian design firm that bears his name” and described as “the most beautiful of Pininfarina’s creations since its previous one-off Ferrari, the P4/5.” The elite class car was one of the standouts of last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Another check on the originating website for the news, motorauthority.com indicated there was no mention of Mr. Kola Aluko or any phrase linked to him in the entire body of the news story.
