Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, a Nigerian cleric who is based in Benin has been accused of harrassment. The pastor who said he is on a self-proclaimed mission to help humanity, creating the International Christian Centre for Missions (ICCM), is facing accusations of physically and sexually abusing children seeking refuge in his church’s camp, according to a report by the Agence France Presse, AFP.


The camp he runs in the ancient city claims to provide accommodation, medical care and education for 4,000 children, “most of them orphans”, as well as 500 widows and missionaries, using funding from local institutions, NGOs and churches abroad.

But witnesses according to an AFP report — children, their relatives, former missionaries and social workers — paint a far darker picture of the pastor and the treatment of those in his care. “At first he’s very subtle, quiet — like somebody who wouldn’t hurt a fly,” one former church worker said of the charismatic preacher. I loved him, I loved his charisma.”

But during months of interviews, witnesses detailed how those living at his 30-hectare (75-acre) facility frequently go hungry and thirsty and endure atrocious hygiene conditions. Pastor Solomon, aged in his 50s, admits having problems with food and sanitary conditions in the camp but denies any mistreatment.

“There is no bad treatment here. We don’t do abuse,” he said “Feeding them is a challenge… but we don’t have anything to hide. We are helping humanity.” Concerns about the camp have a long history. Three years ago, the UN children’s agency UNICEF sent an assessment team to the site, who filed a report with damning conclusions.

“Pastor Solomon runs this camp as if it is his ‘kingdom’. He controls the movement and actions of every person in the camp through a group of ministers and specially selected children,” the team wrote in the confidential report, seen by AFP.

The UNICEF investigators said what they saw, coupled with interviews with children, caregivers and NGO workers, prompted “strong concerns regarding the possibility that Pastor Solomon may be engaged in sexual activities, or at a minimum, displaying grooming behaviours with girls in the camp”.

Witnesses also revealed that around a dozen young girls work for the pastor as his personal servants and receive preferential treatment. “A girl who refused to work for him was punished and starved. When he beat you, he wouldn’t stop until you bled seriously,” said Rahila, a 16-year-old girl who left the camp several months ago.

“He had names that he called different girls… He would comment on the size of my butt, and he would say our chests looked like pineapples or stuff like that,” she said. All the witnesses’ names have been changed to protect their identities. Other children and adults said that those who upset the preacher were treated brutally.

“I was always hungry, there was never enough food or water. When we complained we got beaten with anything he could lay his hands on,” said 12-year-old Hauwa. “No one leaves Pastor Solomon without a scar — whether it is psychological or physical,” a former follower told AFP after hesitating at first to talk about his ordeal.

Convincing people to talk about their experiences with Pastor Solomon is a painstaking task. Some have refused to speak out for 20 years. Authorities in Edo have begun investigations into the allegations.

President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force against harassing young people in their bid to arrest ‘Yahoo criminals.’

Buhari handed down this warning in his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers on Monday in Lagos. The theme of the retreat is, ‘Repositioning the Force for the Challenges of Effective Policing in the 21st Century.’


Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Buhari said the service the Police Force rendered was one Nigerians could not do without, as it was the closest to the grassroots.

According to him, there are police stations everywhere and the police above every other service represent law and order to the average Nigerian. “Which is why the police cannot escape public scrutiny and sometimes criticism; Nigerian people old and young want our Police force to be better and to do better; they want to be even prouder of your service than ever before.

“This is why in some of our urban areas we want to see more compliance with the rule of law and in dealing with Nigerians. “Recently many civil society groups have complained about the arrest of young men and women just because they look successful and are carrying laptops.

“Yes we must apprehend yahoo criminals but we cannot harass young men and women on the streets and in taxis most of whom are merely going about their legitimate businesses. “There are also cases of extra judicial killings and injuries; misuse of weapons and excessive use of force by some members of the force. “

This sort of conduct by a few bad police officers must stop; and it is the duty of you senior and strategic leaders of the Police force to ensure that impunity of any kind is discouraged and punished where it is found.’’

Buhari said that the Nigeria Police force was one of the proudest National assets as it was the largest police force in Africa. He said that the force had some of the best trained and best educated men and women. The president said that Nigerian policemen had served everywhere locally and internationally with outstanding results.

“In the course of duty so many have paid the supreme price; while fighting off robbers, kidnappers and other criminals many have been maimed for life.’’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a Lebanese identified as Hamza Koudeih and two others suspected to be accomplices of Dubai-based Nigerian social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha a.k.a Mompha.


Operatives of the anti-graft agency arrested Koudeih after a three-hour stand-off at his N1.8 billion luxury apartment in the 33-storey Eko Atlantic Pearl Tower, Victoria Island, Lagos.

It was learnt that he and his wife refused opening the door to their apartment and also refused responding to appeals by the building's chief security officer. The suspect who alongside Mompha and other arrested suspects are allegedly kingpins of a network of cyber criminals who laundered N33 billion through three firms, lived in an apartment which was fortified with triple reinforced fire-proof door and closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, making it difficult for the operatives to gain entrance.

However after EFCC operatives gained access into the apartment after trying to break down the door with breaching tools, his wife claimed that her husband had escaped through the window even though they lived in the topmost floor. Koudeih was found hiding in the ceiling and a fire-proof safe containing different charms and talismans in calabashes was uncovered after a search was conducted in his bedroom.

“Our officials knew that he was still inside and they were even hoping to persuade him not to jump out through the window because it would be suicide,” EFCC Lagos Zonal Head, Mr. Mohammed Rabo, who confirmed the arrest, told The Nation.

Two luxury cars were recovered from the suspect who claimed the charms were his “prayer objects”. Koudeih and his wife’s immigration status are currently being investigated. ;ocal and international law enforcement agencies are said to have indicated interest to collaborate in the investigation.

The Lagos zonal head of the EFCC, Mohammed Rabo said the operation that led to Koudeih’s arrest was “an offshoot of the collaboration between the EFCC and the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),” but that Koudeih was arrested based on “purely EFCC intelligence”.

Rabo added: “Actionable intelligence received from local and international law enforcement agencies had revealed that Koudeih and Mompha alongside their collaborators are high valued targets in Organised Cyber Syndicate Network (OCSN).

“Investigations have also revealed that Mompha uses a firm known as Ismalob Global Investments Limited to perpetrate about N14 billion money laundering while Koudeih also operate two firms namely: THK Services Limited and CHK properties Limited to launder about N19 billion.”

An update on Mompha's arrest also revealed that 51 bank accounts he allegedly uses for money laundering has been uncovered. The five wristwatches recovered from him after his arrest on Tuesday October 22, has been found to be worth over N60 million rather than the N20 million earlier thought.

According to reports, Baghdadi’s successor is a former Iraqi army officer named Abdullah Qardash (sometimes spelt Karshesh). Not much is known about Qardash, who once served under Saddam Hussein.But he is understood to have already taken over a number of duties from al-Baghdadi prior to his demise this week when he detonated a suicide vest, reported Mail Online.



An official told Newsweek: ‘Baghdadi was a figurehead. He was not involved in operations or day-to-day. All Baghdadi did was say yes or no, no planning.’



The succession news comes as experts have warned the IS and the extremist jihadist movements have over the last one-and-a-half decades repeatedly shown resilience after the death of key leaders.



And their militants, battle-hardened by years of fighting, remain in place around the world. The group may have been ready for the death of Baghdadi and after an initial adjustment period of a few months could even use it as a rallying case for launching new attacks, they added.

A Nigerian man who searched for a job for six years before getting one, has died in an autocrash one day before he was due to receive his first salary.

The man identified as Sylvanus Okpanachi reportedly graduated from a tertiary institution in 2013 and couldn't find a job. He hunted for a job for six years before he finally got employed this year. He was due to receive his very first salary on Monday, October 22.


Unfortunately, he was killed in a road accident on Sunday, October 20. A friend who saw him last Friday, two days before his death, shared the story. He told of their last encounter and the last words Mr Okpanachi said to him.

Shut Up

The phrase, ‘shut up’ tends to fly around easily during arguments. Usually, in the heat of the moment, blurting out this hurtful phrase is an attempt at imposing an end to the discussion on your partner. Asides being hurtful, ‘shutting your partner up’ is highly disrespectful as it implies you have little regard for their opinion and what they have to say at that moment.

Should you feel reluctant to engage in an argument or discussion with your partner, simply suggest to them politely that you’d rather have that conversation on a later time.

I Wish I Never Dated You

You’re a Failure

As ‘helpful’ as you may feel uttering this to your partner, this is pure suicide. Bodyshaming isn’t restricted to harsh or over-dramatic comments alone. Telling your partner they are too fat or thin is a sure ticket to letting them know you do not appreciate them just the way they are.

Truly depressing

If for medical reasons, you’re concerned about your partner’s weight, book them an appointment with a medical specialist and support them the best way you can.

I’m Leaving You

In whatever form aid, this phrase should be avoided unless actually meant. Avoid threatening or emotionally blackmailing your partner with threats of divorce or break up. It’s not only a sad attempt at getting their attention, but also a seed that when germinated, could actually lead to an actual separation.

I’m Sorry But

Uttering this phrase to your partner, negates your apology. By including ‘but’ in an apology, you’re indirectly half-assing an apology to your partner. This means that despite your wrongdoings towards them, your actions are justifiable.

Not a great move if you plan on making your relationship work. Sure these are not the only words to avoid saying to your partner as there are a number of similarly abominable words and phrases. Niyom said the department is investigating the drug lords enticing Thais to smuggle drugs.

Japanese police and Customs officials at Fukuoka Airport have arrested seven Thai women who smuggled drugs weighing more than a kilogram into the country.

Two of the women were arrested this week with bundles of crystal meth (Ice) wrapped tightly plastic and condoms and hidden in their private parts.
According to Thailand’s Narcotics Board, Fukuoka Airport officials said the suspects, all between 20 and 50, were searched because they were acting suspiciously.

“For those traveling into Japan, please note that Japanese authorities are now hyper-vigilant about drug smuggling into the country especially by visitors traveling from Thailand,” Niyom Termsrisuk, the Narcotics Control Board’s sec-gen, told reporters on Tuesday.
Upon questioning, all seven women reportedly admitted to smuggling the drugs into the country for sale to foreigners living in Japan. 37 Thais have been arrested this year in 20 separate drug-smuggling incidents.

Most of those busted were women traveling to the country as tourists, Niyom said, adding that the perpetrators were hired, encouraged or pressured into smuggling by an “ethnic” drug trafficker.
“We’d like to warn our citizens not to fall victim or to be persuaded to be used as a tool in these dealers’ cross-country smuggling schemes. This may come in the form of inviting you to travel for free in exchange for hiding drugs in your body or they may just blatantly ask you to smuggle drugs,” Niyom said.

Nigerian Lawyer and Entertainment Consultant, Ayo Shonaiya has lashed out at EFCC over what he describes as a 'stupid move' by the anti-graft agency for parading suspected fraudster, Mompha on social media before trial.


According to EFCC, Mompha was arrested on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on his way to Dubai following series of intelligence reports received by the Commission.

EFCC also said, 'Mompha who allegedly perpetrates his fraudulent activities under the guise of being a Bureau de Change operator is always seen with his little son flaunting huge amount of foreign currencies on his social medial platforms'.

In his reaction to a video showing Mompha all smiles after he was arrested by the EFCC, Ayo Shonaiya said, 'this is exactly how the EFCC will mess up the case. I don’t understand this nonsense media fixation of parading suspects before trial'. What exactly is the point of this? Instead of them to take his mugshot and prepare a secured case based on strong evidence, they proceed on a stupid circus for the media that can even taint their case when it does get to Court. Just like the Nigeria Police did with Evans the Kidnapper, they turned the case into a media circus that has turned him into some sort of folk hero for people who don’t know the difference between real life and social media gist. This is a stupid move by the EFCC.

The artist and Chioma’s son, David Adedeji Ifeanyi Adeleke got a planned endorsement with baby products brand, Mario and Juliet a month before he was born.

Few hours after the baby’s arrival was announced, the company revealed him as a Brand Ambassador.

Nigerian model, Beverly Osu has caused a stir online after sharing a new photo of herself showing off her tattoo drawn neatly placed on her cleavage.

The photo, however, did not sit well with some of her followers who took turns to drag her for her makeup, outfit and even her weight.

Reacting to her Instagram post, a troll said;
