Sports / Mbappe, Neymar And Messi Crisis At PSG by OgheneroEzaza: 8:35pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
MORE TROUBLE AT PSG It's no longer about Messi. That ended last season. It's now between Mbappe and Neymar. Put more directly it's about MBAPPE. But let's start from the beginning. When Messi was coming, Mbappe was not happy because he believed Messi would take the spotlight from him. In fact he was willing to leave. However he was not the only one who was not willing to give Messi the spotlight. The other person was Neymar. Neymar didn't leave Spain to France to continue to be second fidel to Messi. No, not in Paris. Such things ended at Barcelona. So Mbappe and Neymar teamed up like AD and CPC in 2015 against PDP who in this case is simply known as Messi. What they did not know was that when Messi was leaving Barca he already knew it would not be the same and he was fully prepared for it, fully. Hence he never insisted on taking anything, whether penalty or free kick. He did as he was told, even lying on the floor behind the wall to defend opponent's free kick. Officially Neymar became the penalty taker. Messi proudly wore the Number 30 with all dignity. If he was still nursing any silent ambition of taking over the centre stage all such ambition died on the night of Real Madrid 1st leg. It was a do or die match and Neymar could not take part due to injury. Hence spotlight fell on Messi. That was Messi's opportunity to prove certain points he had never had the opportunity to prove since he came to PSG. However it turned out to be an unlucky night for him. Those kind of days when a man's chi was fast asleep as Chinua Achebe put it in THINGS FALL APART. At 0-0 the home team got a penalty. In Neymar's abscence, Messi, my guy, stepped up to take it, thereby putting Mbappe underneath him. Well he missed, to his shame and to everyone's disappointment. His chi was in a deep sleep. That was our God given chance to win that match. Messi had killed us. It was seconds to the end of the game that Mbappe scored a most difficult goal to save us. Yes, Mbappe gave us a win and in his celebration he made it very clear that it was a mistake to ever put Messi ahead of him. Messi was happy for the win but never forgave himself for missing that penalty. It still haunts him till this day. After that Messi never stepped forward to take a penalty again. Never. He completely left penalty issues to Neymar and Mbappe. From then on he played as one more player on the pitch. Surprisingly he has been doing far better since he adopted this new style. He has really fit into the team better now. Now just when we think all is fine, more trouble lumes. Mbappe was still not happy that Neymar was the number one penalty taker instead of himself. Hence PSG convinced or rather decieved him that they would sell Neymar at the end of last season. But Neymar is still here. However the club assured Mbappe that he would be the number one penalty taker ahead of Neymar or anybody. I don't know if they told this to Neymar but obviously Neymar had observed the powers given to Mbappe and he is not happy about it. He told Messi about it but Messi did not want to be dragged into it. Messi had completely lost interest in any power tussle whatsoever. Now season started with PSG v Clermont. Mbappe did not play due to suspension. You could see the beautiful combination between Neymar and Messi. Barcelona days was relived. They both seemed to enjoy the game in Mbappe's absence. When there was a penalty Messi did not even bother himself, he just left it to Neymar. Despite that Messi scored two goals in the match including a bycicle kick which sent haters to the cleaners. And Messi also won the Man of the Match which is gradually becoming his regular trademark once again. But a week later Mbappe returns and trouble returns. In PSG second game there was a penalty. Once again Messi did not even step forward. As far as he is concerned penalty does not concern him. But Neymar and Mbappe both step forward. Finally Mbappe prevailed. However he took it and missed. As the game was going on there was another penalty. Mbappe came forward again, this time Neymar was not going to agree. He forcefully took the ball, played the penalty and scored. Mbappe is still not happy with that till today. Despite winning the match the two of them agured seriously at the dressing room later. Other players had to intervene to stop a fight. If this kind of thing happened against a big team at the UCL, PSG would have lost. It's like the galaxy of stars is more of a problem than a solution. It's like the money in football now is too much and it's making them misbehave. There was a time Madrid had stars all round the team, we didn't hear things like this. I am talking about the days of Zidane, Carlos, Beckam etc. Well If PSG wants to win the UCL they must resolve this issue one way or other. Because this issue is a real problem. You know where Messi is that's where I am. Oghenero Ezaza Son of Oguname (Thanks for reading. If you read to the end, you try.) 1 Like

Celebrities / On International Women's Day Today I Celebrate Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome-kuti (MON) by OgheneroEzaza: 6:00pm On Mar 08, 2022 |
On International Women's Day today I promised to pick one woman to profile. Not that she is the most important but as I am celebrating her I am actually celebrating her gender that is you (if you are a woman). And I pick: MRS FUNMILAYO RANSOME-KUTI The West African Pilot Newspaper called her The Lioness of Lisabi. She was a Nigerian teacher, politician, activitist, and women's rights advocate. Born on 25th October, 1900 at Abeokuta, (Now in Ogun State), South-West, Nigeria. Her father was Chief Daniel Olumeyuwa Thomas from the elite Jibolu-Taiwo Family while her mother was Lusretia Phyllis Omoyeni Adeosulu. Funmi was born as Frances Abigail Olufunmilayo Thomas. She was the first female student to be admitted into Abeokuta Grammar School in 1914. 5 other girls joined her in class that same year. She later furthered her studies in London. That was where she dropped her English name 'Frances' and officiallly started to use the shorterned form of her Yoruba name, FUNMILAYO, as her first name. On January 20th 1925 she got married to Rev. Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti who was from the prestigious Ransome-Kuti dynasty. They had 4 children in this order: Dolupo (daughter), Olikoye (Son), Fela (Son), Beko (Son). In 1935-36, she and her husband shipped a second hand car from England and she became the first woman to drive a car in Abeokuta. In 1932 she founded the Abeokuta Ladies Club for elite women. They did charity work and taught women basic skills like sewing, Catherine and adult education. By 1946 it became a political force with a new name: Abeokuta Women Union (AWU), now involving all women including market women. She formed it alongside her husband's sister, Grace Eniola Soyinka, mother of Prof. Wole Soyinka. They staged a protest against the Alake of Abeokuta for imposing a special tax on market women. She wrote to the British authority to remove the Alake from office and to cancel the said tax. She also demanded a representation of women in the Sole Native Authority System executive council. During this time she was banned from entering the Alake's palace for political meetings. By 1947 authorities forbade women from holding protest and demonstration but she and the AWU went on and claimed they were only doing 'picnics' and 'festivals.' Sometimes they confronted police officers. She began to teach her members how to manage situations of tear gas canisters thrown at them. All these led to a temporary abdication of the Alake. Finally the said tax was abolished with all it's troubles. In 1949 she was the only woman in the NCNC delegation to London. There she told her 'oyibo' listeners the plight of the Nigerian woman. She later served as treasurer of the National Council of Nigeria and Cameroun (NCNC), also women leader of the party. She contested for the legislative seat and lost. She later formed another party: Nigerian Commoners' Party. In 1965 she was honoured with the Membership in the Order of the Niger (MON). Also the Lenin Peace Prize in 1970 in USSR. In 1961 she was Chairman of the Advisory Board of Education in Western Nigeria. Also her spirit of advocacy and doggedness were well rested on her 3rd child, Fela Kuti. At her old age her 3rd child had become her husband and in fact her father. By this time her husband had died of prostrate cancer after a prolonged period of illness. In the early 70s her 3rd child Fela Ransome-Kuti officially removed 'Ransome' from his name claiming it was a slave name and replaced it with the Yoruba name 'Anikulapo.' so he became Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. When her son did this, that was when she also changed her name too from Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti to Funmilayo Anikulapo-Kuti. Although her case was unofficial since she was already an old woman. She was in Fela's house called Kalatuta Republic on 18th Feb 1977 when soldiers stormed the compound. Fela had earlier been arrested and rearrested with brutal flogging on several occasions for verbally criticizing successive military regimes. On that day the soldiers beat up and arrested several people in the house including Fela and his younger brother, Beko, who was also a vocal human rights activist. During the raid Funmilayo was thrown from a second floor window and sustained serious injuries. Fela recounted this incident in his song 'Unknown Soldiers.' The old woman died at the hospital on 13th April, 1978 from injuries. She was buried beside her husband at Abeokuta. Shops and market closed in her honour on the day of her burial. At the one year anniversary of her death, her son, Fela, carried a coffin to the gate of Dodan Barracks, Lagos which was Nigeria Supreme Military Headquarters at that time to mock the military and the govt. He sang this in his song 'Coffin For head of State.' In August, 2012 the Central Bank of Nigeria included her picture in the proposed Five Thousand Naira Note. However her grandson, Seun Kuti who is Fela's last child, described this gesture as ridiculous because the government had never apologized to their family for the wrong done to the said woman. Thank you for reading to the end. I believe I have fulfilled my promise. Most of my sources are from Johnson-Odim Cheryl's book: Women and The Nation: Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti of Nigeria. Music/Radio / Fela Say Na Who And Who Unite For United Nations by OgheneroEzaza: 6:11pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
Who & who unite for United Nations? No be there Thatcher & Argentina dey? No be there Reagan & Libya dey? Israel versus Lebanon Iran versus Iraq East West Block versus West Block East No be there dem dey o United Nations Disunited United Nations One veto vote is equal to 92...or more, or more Which kind sense be dat, na animal sense In times like this I remember this song by Fela Kuti, which he sang in 1989 titled: Beasts of No Nation. Fela seemed to be very far ahead of his people that was why we could not really tag along during his struggles. Today we call him a prophet because we are only just beginning to understand the things he was battling then. Actually Fela was not seeing the future, these things were already there right in front of us, but we never saw it until now. Russia, US, China, UK are all members of the United Nations Security Council in fact permanent members that means the decision makers, all other countries are bench warmers meant to take instructions from these 'Ototas.' However it is now glary that their leadership of the UN is to maintain their respective interests and not the interest of the peasant countries. Another unwritten rule is that any of these Otota countries can break the very rules of the UN which they set as far as such country believes she has made enough provisions to survive the sanctions. Ukraine now finds itself in the middle of a crossfire expecting some other Otota country to come and fight for her. However each Otota country has to check her interest well to be sure fighting for Ukraine will better her interest and where it doesn't the excuse will be NATO, 'Ukraine nor be our member.' As if it is not the intention to join that has led to their present predicament. And then what about UN. Ok they are simply members of UN to receive orders and not to be aided. This is a permanent member of the security council of UN declaring war on a 'peasant member' and the latter so far so good are left to their ability. If it was one small country that when to throw bomb will the UN fold it's hands. When Nigeria and Cameroon had issue of land and oil well (Bakassi Peninsula) did the UN fold her hands. If for example Nigeria had disobeyed the ruling of the ICJ would these Otota countries had taken it lightly with us. Capital No. But when it is they themselves, they are above and beyond. Let me quote Barr. Peter Gasiokwu who defined law this way. He said: 'Law is an instrument for oppression and suppression.' Religion / The Devil Deos Not Come As Evil, He Comes As Everything You Ever Wanted by OgheneroEzaza: 6:28pm On Feb 18, 2022 |
THAT'S THE WAY THE DEVIL COMES "That's the way the devil come He don't come to you as evil He don't come to you on fire He come to you as everything you ever wanted He come to you as you" I got the above lines from the movie: 'Above Suspicion.' The movie is based on a true life story. The said lines reminded me of the temptation of Jesus Christ in the wilderness. The devil did not come as a damsel dressed half naked so Jesus might lust after her. No. The devil did not come as money or food belonging to someone else so Jesus might pick it and run. No. Rather the devil came disguised as the word of God. Mark you the devil did not come in the middle of Jesus fasting and tempted him to eat and not faint. No. He rather waited patiently for the 40 days fast to successfully complete and that was when he came, the sly being. You are so hungry, after all the fasting is over, there is no food here in the wilderness 'but if you know you are the son of God, why not turn these stones to become bread and eat.' Of course the devil knew Jesus had the power to do it. The devil did not ask Jesus to hurt anybody. He never asked Christ to take anyone's property. All through my childhood days in Sunday School I have always asked, how the first and last temptations (Luke 4) were going to be sin if Jesus had done them. Those stones were nobody's property for crying out loud. They were stones lying in the wilderness. Moreover Jesus' fasting has ended already. But now the Lord made me to understand that it is your level of understanding of Jesus Christ that determines the temptation the devil brings to you. He comes to you as you. A Christian who believes if he eats meat on Good Friday it is a sin will receive temptation to eat meat on Friday. A Christian who does not believe that, will receive a different temptation other than eating meat on a Good Friday because what the devil wants is your fall from the faith by making you do what you know is wrong. But he presents it as good. Look at the third temptation of Jesus, (Luke's account) the devil even quoted the bible but he quoted it out of context. 'The bible say I will send my angels to guard you and you will not strike your foot against a stone ' The devil knew Jesus could easily recognize sin hence he tempted him with what did not look like sin. The devil quoted the bible as if he was actually encouraging Jesus to obey scriptures. If Jesus had done it that would be only when the same devil would have made him realize the sin he just committed. However Jesus knew the word of God and also knew the devil quoted out of context. At the risk of repetition, here is the quote from the movie again: 'That's the way the devil come He don't come to you as evil He don't come to you on fire He come to you as everything you ever wanted He come to you as you' Well the movie I am referring to is not particularly a Christian movie but it is a true life story and it is touching. Now listen, if you don't study the word of God and pray always and have the Spirit of God the devil will tempt you into sin disguised as righteousness. Sometimes the devil will come to you as God's answer to your prayer. Sometimes you have been praying for something for Ten years. The devil will come disguised as the very answer to your Ten years prayer. You might as well be sharing testimony that God has answered your prayer not knowing the devil is simply putting chains all over you. Brother/sister pray, study God's word, be filled with the Spirit of God. The devil does not relent. 1 Peter 5:8 says 'Be at alert, your enemy the devil, roams around like is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.' He is a thief, he cometh to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus the bringer of life is sufficient for you and me. (John 10:10). Oghenero Ezaza (Son of Oguname) 4 Likes 1 Share

Religion / It Is Not How Well You Eat, But Your Closeness To God That Makes You Look Good by OgheneroEzaza: 12:42pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
Food For The Stomach and Not The Stomach For food It is not how well you feed that determines how good you look. Rather it is your closeness to God. That is why sometimes you are on fasting and you think you must be looking sick by now but someone sees you and admires your look the way he or she has not done before. That's because there is a beauty coming from your inside produced by your communion with God. That was why when Moses was coming down from the mountain his face was shining like light and the Israelites were running away from him. (Exodus 34: 29-35). The reason was that he just finished speaking with God face to face. The awesomeness of God was reflecting on his face. He did not know why the Israelites were running until Aaron esplained. Then he used a cloth to cover his face. Just as he struggled to cope with God's presence that was how the Israelites were struggling to cope with his. At the risk of repetition: it is not how well you feed that determines how good you look, it is rather your closeness to God. That was why Daniel and his Three friends ate vegetables and water for Ten days but were healthier, fatter, more goodlooking, wiser, stronger than the rest who ate sumptuous food from the king, Nebuchadnezzar's, table. (Daniel 1) I am not writing this because I hate food. No. As a matter of fact, when it comes to food don't dare me. Right from school days I could carry my school fees to go and eat. Coping with hunger was the one thing I never learnt. If I am hungry it means only one thing: I don't have money anywhere in the world to get food. And at such moment nothing makes any sense to me, nothing. But I now begin to realize that 1 Cor 6:13 is for every Christian. 'Food was made for the stomach and not the stomach for food.' 'Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.' Matthew 4:4. Hence I now tell myself that food was created for me and I was not created for food. I am the master and I am not the slave. I will still eat very well when I want to, I mean very well but it will no longer be an every moment thing. No. Not like something just snap in my head and nothing will make sense anymore until I finish Ogunu woman half pot of fresh fish Banga soup. No, not anymore. I will still go there at my will. I cannot even remember when last I fasted. It will not be so anymore. I am grown. Oghenero Ezaza (Son of Oguname) 1 Share

Sports / Lionel Messi Is A Victim Of His Own Greatness by OgheneroEzaza: 9:20am On Jan 27, 2022 |
My Case For Messi Victim of His Greatness It is not easy to be Lionel Messi. It is not easy at all, yet it is great. WHEN MESSI IS THE WINNER OF AN AWARD Them: That award is fake, rubbish, trash. WHEN MESSI IS NOT THE WINNER OF AN AWARD Them: This is the real award, so genuine, so real, authentic Me: Messi is a victim of his own greatness and I take lessons from him. WHEN MESSI HAS NOT WON THE COPA AMERICA Them: If Messi thinks he is a great player he should win the Copa America. He can't because his Barcelona teammates are not here. WHEN MESSI EVENTUALLY WINS THE COPA AMERICA Them: Copa America is trash. It is no competition at all. Even AFCON is better than Copa America. *Every cup is great until Messi wins it* WHEN MESSI WAS AT BARCELONA Them: Messi cannot change club because he can only play in one league. He is afraid of challenge. WHEN MESSI EVENTUALLY LEAVES BARCELONA Them: Why will Messi leave Barcelona after all the club has done for him. He is so wicked he has crumbled the club. Can't he even stay and play free of charge for the club. Me: Messi is a victim of his own greatness and I take notes from him. WHEN NEYMAR LEFT BARCELONA TO PSG Them: Naymar takes challenge he has gone to Ligue 1 to prove himself after la liga. WHEN MESSI LEFT BARCELONA TO THE SAME PSG Them: Ligue 1 is a farmers' league, it is not an important league at all. If Messi really wants to prove himself why will he go to PSG. *Every league is important until Messi arrives* < Watch out for part two. We are not done yet. The list is endless> Oghenero Ezaza #MessiAdvocate #SonOfOguname 1 Like

Religion / Christians Stop Criticizing Your Fellow Christian To Unbelievers by OgheneroEzaza: 9:44am On Sep 18, 2021 |
For Christians: Christians have reached a conclusion that Christianity is a personal race, so each Christian should run on his own track. We don't try to hold one another instead we make the race difficult for one another by criticizing and verbally attacking each other. To make it worse we do the criticism and attack here on Facebook where the world can see, as if we are actually calling on the world, including non-Christians, to come and be the judge between us and our fellow Christians. Like we are proving to people who don't go to church that we are better Christians than the others, as if we are serving the world. If a fellow Christian is doing something wrong, the Bible tells us what to do. Matthew 18:15 -17 "15 If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector." The Bible did not say you should go and report your fellow Christian to people who don't go to church. If there is a Christian Facebook group you can do your post there knowing you are communicating to fellow Christians. The only thing you owe your Facebook family who are not Christians yet is the message of salvation so they can be saved. In Galatians 2 Paul said he rebuked Peter publicly. What he mean by publicly is in the presence of the other Christians so the issue will be resolved immediately. Paul did not go to the village square and carry horn speaker and begin to criticize Peter. I ask questions in church, sometimes we even debate over scriptures during Bible study, but we do it knowing we are discussing as Christians. If I think I need to post here on Facebook about a Bible topic that is debatable, or an issue that Christians have different opinions on, then I write it at the beginning of my post that this post is for Christians. That does not stop anyone from reading it, but it becomes clear that the point I am making and the issue for discussion is for Christians. Christians we are not in a competition to out do one another. Even our God does not tell us that, not to talk of us now even making the world our judge. May the peace of the Lord which surpasseth all understanding dwell in you, in Jesus name, amen. I celebrate you Oghenero Ezaza |
Sports / 11 Things Cristiano Ronaldo And Lionel Messi Have In Common by OgheneroEzaza: 1:50pm On Apr 22, 2020 |
11 THINGS LIONEL MESSI AND CRISTIANO RONALDO HAVE IN COMMON By: Oghenero Ezaza Coronavirus induced lockdown really got me bored, so yesterday I decided to give myself one work and it was to fetch 10 things both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have in common. We are all too familiar with their differences hence I decided to shock the world with 10 of their similarities. Well, when I started my quest I thought it would be an easy ride but lo and behold the more I was looking for things they share the more I was realizing how totally different these two people actually were. For instance Ronaldo is right-footed, Messi is left-footed. Ronaldo is not married, Messi is. Ronaldo does not take alchohol, Messi does. Ronaldo has no tattoos but Messi has. Ronaldo has played for several clubs and leagues, Messi has played for just one. Ronaldo has dated several girls, Messi has stuck to one. Ronaldo’s children are from different mamas, Messi’s are all from one mama, Ronaldo has four kids, Messi has three. Ronaldo has a daughter, Messi has no daughter. And the list goes on and on and on and on. In fact I began to wish I was writing on their differences. But that would not be fun. It would be too easy. Whereas in my hometown we say ‘Warri nor dey carry last.’ Every Nigerian understands this but if you are not Nigerian it means Warri people never accept defeat nor failure in anything we do. Therefore I must get out 10 things Messi and Ronaldo have in common. By the time I slept last night I managed to get about 6. In the night I had a dream that I was playing football here in my hometown with Ronaldo and Messi. With all three of us playing together as friends. I woke up this morning and immediately resumed work on my quest right from bed. I was stuck somewhere at 8 and out of frustration some crazy similarities between the two of them got into my head. I almost used them to complete my 10 because Warri must never carry last, but I am a principled person and I must not play ojoro. For instance I wanted to say they are both whites. Yes that’s a similarity but that’s racist so I removed it. Well as at 10 a.m this morning I was able to complete the 10 similarities between Messi and Ronaldo and in fact I had one extra which has now made it 11. So let’s go there. These are the 11 Things Ronaldo and Messi have in Common: 1. THEY ARE BOTH CATHOLIC: Yes they share the same religion (Christian) and within the Christian faith they are also in same denomination (Catholic). 2. BOTH ARE CAPTAINS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE NATIONAL TEAMS: Ronaldo captain of Portugal, Messi captain of Argentina. 3. NO WORLD CUP TROPHY: Ronaldo and Messi seemed to have broken the rule that great players should be determined by a world cup trophy. The likes of Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo of Brazil all have a world cup trophy. Well Ronaldo and Messi don’t but no one would write a list of great players ever and omit these two names. No one. 4. BOTH ARE FROM POOR FAMILIES: This is not an exaggeration, they both came from poor families 5. BOTH WERE SUBJECTED TO CHILD LABOUR: Due to being born into poor families they both had to work as children to support their respective families. 6. BOTH BREAD WINNERS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE FAMILIES: They both brought fortune to their respective poor families. They each were the blessing the creator has used to deliver their respective families from the shackles of poverty. 7. BOTH ARE INVOLVED IN HIGH LEVEL OF CHARITY 8. BOTH HAVE BEEN FOUND GUILTY FOR TAX FRAUD: The Spanish government brought charges against Messi and his father for tax evasion. Before trial the prosecution opted to drop all charges against Messi and only press charges against his father but the judge refused and convicted both of them. When similar charges were brought against Ronaldo he opted for settlement terms where he paid some amount of money instead of serving jail term. 9. THEY ARE CONTEMPORARIES: Yes this is a similarity. They both played football at the same time. People tried to compare Pele and Maradona, but one thing that makes it more difficult is the fact that Pele had hung his boots long before Maradona found his. But the age difference Ronaldo and Messi is barely two years. If they were to be from my village they would belong to the same age-grade. This makes their competition to be head to head. 10. THEY BOTH HAVE CHILDREN PLAYING FOOTBALL: Ronaldo’s son Cristiano Ronaldo JR has been playing for Real Madrid junior team and now plays for Juventus junior team. He plays very well, I tip him to do more than his father, lol! Messi’s eldest son, Thiago, did not show early signs of interest in football. But that has pretty changed much. THEY HAVE BOTH MADE TIME MAGAZINE’S 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS IN THE WORLD: I would have just simply said they are both influential people on earth. But let me just use the TIME 100 as my yardstick. Annually TIME Magazine releases a list of 100 most influential people on earth. Messi made the list in 2011 and 2012 while Ronaldo did in 2014. Religion / When Some People Say There Is No God by OgheneroEzaza: 7:34am On Aug 24, 2019 |
When people say there is no God, I want to ask, what is there. Because there has to be something. The speaker saying there is no God, did not tell us that he (the speaker) was the one who created the universe. So if you are telling us that there is no God, you should also tell us who did all these things. There is no God is not a complete declaration. Please go ahead and tell us what is there. It was neither you nor me that made the sea, the cloud, the earth, the sun, the moon, the day, the night, the animals, name them. You and I were born into this world without our consent nor permission. You had no say even in your own creation. You did not decide the day of your birth, nor the place nor anything. Nobody even asked you if you are ready to come into the world or you would still like to take some time. They did not even bother to ask you which country you would like to be born into. You just grew up to realize that you have been born in Nigeria or Cameroun or Uganda or India or China or wherever. Nobody even asked you if you preferred to be male or female. You just grow up to find that you are what you are. You did not have a say in anything at all. And then you grow up to say there is no God. My question is, if there is no God, then what is there, because, I say it again, there has to be something. Somebody was in charge of all these. Now look at it again, despite the fact that you did not have a say in any of these things yet all of it seem to blend perfectly. The earth moves in a perfect circle and never deviates. It goes around the sun, likewise the moon and none of these things hit one another. Gravity sticks us all to the earth, hence despite it being round we never fall off. And even when you die none of these arrangement will scatter, because none of it was done by you. Man only discovers and name things. There is no one of these things he created. We only discovered the other planets and named them. We did not put any of them where they are. At best we only create some things from things that already existed. Definitely someone supernatural arranged all these things. It couldn’t have happened by chance. There is no way chance can be totally perfect. Also once something has a purpose/reason then it is no longer chance. One reason for gravity we can clearly see is to ensure that we don't fall of the round earth. And once something has a purpose then it is no longer chance. Everything here has its function so chance has no place here. It is like the character in a novel suddenly saying there is no author that wrote the novel. Is that not laughable. Let’s take a novel like Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe. The lead character in the Novel is Okonkwo. If you have read the novel you would know that Okonkwo stammers. Okonkwo never tells us the reason he stammers. Obviously he has no clue. Neither his father nor his mother stammers. Well the author of the novel created his character to stammer. It is just like Okonkwo suddenly saying there is no author that wrote the novel, Things Fall Apart. Then let Okonkwo tell us why he is male and not female. Let him tell us why he is from Umuofia and why he has been born by a poor and lazy man when that is exactly the kind of men he hates and never wish to be like. My problem is not you telling us that there is no God, but after telling us there is no God you should immediately tell us what is there. I mean who is in charge. If you don’t know who is in charge then you have no right to tell us what we believe is wrong. You need to have the right thing to give us, before you tell us the one we already have is the wrong thing. And you know what; the God you are claiming does not exist is just smiling at you, because even you are His creation. Oghenero Ezaza (My first name Oghenero means there is God. Well the time came and also went, because now as far as I am concerned my name is truth. Oghenero – there is God) 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Literature / Why Nigeria Children Say Actor and Bose When We Watch Oyibo Film by OgheneroEzaza: 7:20pm On Aug 11, 2019 |
My Defence: It Was Not Our Fault Written by: Oghenero Ezaza As children when we watched foreign movies we used to call someone ACTOR and another BOSE. Our school teachers began to tell us it was wrong and stupid. Well it might be, but it was not our fault and this is my defence. Growing up as a child I did not have a TV Set in my father’s house, but everybody in the street knew there was no movie, Nigerian or foreign, that I had not watched. Then it was not an issue to spend an entire day in your neighbour’s house. There was much love and trust among neighbours. So once a new movie was out, I was always one of the first to watch it even though I did not have a TV set in my own house. Now that’s ironical. Once there was an argument involving a movie they come to me for clarification. I was the authority. I could quote speeches from movies word for word. Don’t dare me. Well today it is not so anymore, my interest for movies already died and buried. Back then I would spend an entire day with Captain Rufus watching movies. Now let me specially appreciate Late Captain Rufus Usumero aka Uncle Joe who took me for a son. Most of the movies I boast of were watched in his house. Captain Rufus never had any business with Nigerian movies, hence all the movies I watched with him and his son Alvan were foreign, especially American. All the American movies took the same pattern. Arnold Swatziniger’s first movie “Commando” which gave him that nickname was not left out. He was a hero, a strong warrior, who was the target of some bad guys. To cut a long story short he was the ACTOR. He had a good friend (I can’t remember names now, it was a long time ago, a very long time. I was in primary school then). He and his friend became enemies. Commando was the good one (the ACTOR was always the good one) while his friend was the bad guy, who then wanted him dead. Of course his former friend, now enemy was the BOSE (The BOSE was always the bad guy). That was the pattern. All the movies always had a good guy who was fighting a just course. That was always our man, he was the ACTOR. Then there was always another guy, a very wicked guy, whose only ambition in life was to kill the good guy. This other guy was the BOSE. No movie ever failed us. No movie ever changed the rules. And that was why the words ACTOR and BOSE were very important and necessary in dealing with foreign movies. The movie gets to the point where the ACTOR and BOSE finally find the opportunity to settle their scores once and for all, face to face. This is called THE LAST FIGHT. Every American movie had one. It must be between the ACTOR and the BOSE and this fight always ended the movie. This is what literature calls the climax. Of Course the ACTOR must win this fight, or else he was not the ACTOR. But despite this certainty of prediction the producers still did their best to make it interesting by letting the BOSE beat the hell out the ACTOR and in fact almost kill him. But there is one more rule: ACTOR NOR DEY DIE FOR FILM. This meant the ACTOR could never be killed in the movie. Yes, or else he was not the ACTOR. So after the BOSE had beaten the ACTOR to pulp, the ACTOR will definitely still manage to kill the BOSE. Usually the beating, the ACTOR received was to arouse pity on the part of the viewers and to remind us of how wicked the BOSE was. So after beating the life out of the ACTOR how does the ACTOR always managed to still kill the BOSE. This feat was achieved through another concept known as CHARGE. I still don’t know if this was meant to be some spiritual power or something. But you see, as the BOSE was beating the ACTOR and almost killing him, suddenly the ACTOR got vexed and suddenly he would receive some supernatural power from heaven or somewhere else. This was the point when we would say the ACTOR don CHARGE or e don vex. And once this happened it was finished for the BOSE. The BOSE would never be able to lift his hand on the ACTOR again. It was the ACTOR that was almost dead some seconds ago that would start beating the BOSE till the BOSE died. And the death of the BOSE settled all scores and ended the film. In some cases they would do it in such a beautiful way that the ACTOR would remember something, maybe what his father told him when he was a child or some other thing. And once he remembered that thing he would suddenly CHARGE. In the movie ‘King of the Kick Boxer’ it was when the ACTOR’s friend came to the scene and after the ACTOR spoke with his girlfriend that he CHARGE. This rule that all movies must have ACTOR and BOSE never applied to Nigerian movies because in Nigerian movies then they didn’t fought wars. It was all best seller. There was only one foreign movie we all collectively agreed that had no ACTOR and BOSE. When I say “we all” I am referring to the association of Nigeria Kpako Children. And that movie was the movie acted on the life and times of Jesus Christ which we simply called Jesus Christ Film. That movie was the movie we simply agreed was the only oyibo film wey nor get ACTOR AND BOSE. As the years passed by, probably to avoid boredom and lack of interest, the producers of foreign movies began to add some more spice. Like the rule that ACTOR NOR DEY DIE was tempered with. But this was done very few times and with great care or else you will just ruin everything. And in fact if ACTOR decided to die he must make sure he had killed the BOSE first. This was a must, because if he died without killing the Bose who will now kill the BOSE. In fact that meant he was not the ACTOR in the first place. So he must kill the BOSE first then he could die if he wanted to. At least he had fulfilled his primary assignment. The BOSE must not kill him, never. This was the case in the movie titled “They Live”. After the ACTOR killed the BOSE and settled the quarrel but just before the movie ended the ACTOR died out the fatal injuries he had sustained during the strong beating which usually come before the CHARGE. In this film the ACTOR really suffered o. The BOSE had many followers and they were very strong. They kpo kpo the hell out the poor ACTOR we come dey sorry for am nor be small thing, they even shot him with a gun. But of course we were not scared that he would die because we knew the rule. He could not die or else he was not the ACTOR. Then suddenly with all the injuries and even gunshot the ACTOR suddenly CHARGED. Trust ACTOR na, Oya na so he kill the BOSE and all his entourage. We were waiting to see how he would survive but he died peacefully knowing that having killed the BOSE he had saved all the good people that he had been fighting for. This was also what happened in the movie “Gladiators”. Then with time another thing was also introduced. You know the BOSE was always stronger than the ACTOR but after CHARGING the ACTOR always manage to kill the BOSE. Later this style was improved upon. The BOSE now became a lazy man who only had control over some strong people. Then there would be a very strong guy who would be his next in command, who always protected the BOSE from the ACTOR and always attack the ACTOR whenever the BOSE sent him. We quickly welcomed this new guy and gave him his own title: ASSISTANT BOSE. Now come to think of it, all these names, it was not like we held a conference where all these names and titles were decided but we just knew it. Once you say ACTOR, BOSE, ASSISTANT BOSE, LAST FIGHT, CHARGE every kpako child in Warri knew exactly what you were talking about. I am sure every child in Nigeria too. A movie like Hard Target by Van Damme had ASSISTANT BOSE in the person of Orlando the best friend of the BOSE who by now was now known as REAL BOSE. Yes, now that there is now ASSISTANT BOSE we upgraded the name of BOSE to REAL BOSE. There is this popular Asian actor we called ‘EkULIS’. He was always playing the part of ASSISTANT BOSE in all his movies. Now since the ASSISANT BOSE only takes instruction from the REAL BOSE but was always physically stronger than the REAL BOSE, THE LAST FIGHT now became between the ASSISTANT BOSE and the ACTOR. This is because once the ACTOR kills the ASSISTANT BOSE killing the REAL BOSE was no longer a problem. So the LAST FIGHT was now between the ACTOR and the ASSISTANT BOSE. A more recent movie like “Columbiana” took this format. The ACTOR fought and killed the ASSISTANT BOSE in an interesting LAST FIGHT. After that there was nothing interesting about the death of the REAL BOSE, in fact he started running the moment the ASSISTANT BOSE died knowing his own was finished, but he even blindly ran into his own death. That was to tell you how daft the REAL BOSE could be once the ASSISTANT BOSE was no more. Then with time too, movie producers began to realize that the ACTOR too needed an ASSISTANT ACTOR. The ASSISTANT ACTOR usually came in the guise of a friend to the ACTOR or a brother to the ACTOR. Whichever way his work was to support the REAL or MAIN ACTOR (as we now called him) but never to take his shine. Yes the ASSISTANT ACTOR must never make it difficult for us to know who the MAIN ACTOR was. He must always give all the glory to the MAIN ACTOR but he must do everything including giving up his life to save the MAIN ACTOR. Yes the ASSISTANT ACTOR could even die to save the MAIN ACTOR. Also his death will further prove that he was never the MAIN ACTOR or else he for nor die before the BOSE. In fact his death will now make the MAIN ACTOR to CHARGE and go and kill all the BOSE. Yes the BOSE could be a group too. But there must be a REAL BOSE, ASSISTANT BOSE could be optional. A movie like “They Live” which I talked about had ASSISTANT ACTOR. Also a style where a movie had TWO ACTOR emerged. This was different from the concept of ASSISTANT ACTOR. In this case two people would be ACTOR at the same time. If you have not noticed Nigeria pidgin give no place for plural or past tense. Hence if they are two it is TWO ACTOR (not actors). This was the case in the movie “Tango and Cash”. In this movie there were TWO ACTOR in the movie. One was not ASSISTANT ACTOR, no. the two of them were TWO ACTOR together. In this case the BOSE usually have many followers maybe an entire army. Hence the TWO ACTOR always have a big task. Together they would fight all the BOSE till they defeat them and get to the REAL BOSE and kill him. It was not a rule but films that had TWO ACTOR usually had ASSISTANT BOSE making the REAL BOSE to be a lazy man but who always had a large army at his command who always protected him very well. This was the format of all movies then and this was the reason for these names and titles and we perfectly understood them and using these names made everything easy because all the movies took this same format. I know things have changed pretty much now and perhaps these names and titles may not be needed anymore, I can’t really speak for this generation perhaps because my interest in movies dropped drastically largely due to responsibilities, hustles and troubles. But when I have the time I still enjoy movies they are a wonderful world. But at that time too they didn’t act movies to mislead the world, they acted movies based on realities and to teach moral lessons and help us brainstorm and improve our lives. So this is my defence on behalf of Naija kpako children and I repeat, it was not our fault. We gave the names according to what we watched in the movies and the names and titles never failed us.
