Hello ladies/ gentlemen,

I submitted my passport using DHL one-way courier service on the 10th February,2023; email updates from vfs show that my decision envelope is ready for pick up.

For guys that recently collected their passports, how did you go about this?

Will vfs send me a mail advising me on bank transfer details? I'm really confused here.

Pls kindly assist a brother.

PPR ALERT!!! (Long post)
MY PROFILE:
I am a 40-year old self-sponsored applicant.
Over 12 years experience in oil & gas engineering.
Sources of fund: Full time employment in oil and gas engineering + Private business + Real estate.
I applied alone (used immediate family members as home ties).
Other home ties: Study leave approval + landed property and buildings + personal business + cars + pension.
Travel history : 3 African countries + 1 middle east country.
DLI: Uottawa (Masters prog).
Study plan: career advancement from Snr. Engineer to Engineering manager (Note: my 1st degree was in engineering).
1st APPLICATION:
1st application submitted June 13th 2022.
Biometrics: June 16th 2022.
Upfront medicals: July 29th , 2022.
POF: $48,000CAD in personal savings account + Paid 1st year full tuition of $19,000 CAD and 10,000CAD GIC.
1st application refused 19th Oct 2022.
Ordered CBSA and GCMS notes: 25th October 2022.
Refusal reasons: (1.) Insufficient documentation for source of funds as earnings were not commensurate with declared savings. (2.) proposed study not a reasonable expense given the high cost of intl studies and funds available.
2nd APPLICATION:
2nd application submitted 1st Dec 2022.
POF: $71,000CAD in personal savings account + Paid 1st year full tuition of $19,000 CAD and 10,000CAD GIC.
HOW I ADDRESSED MY PREVIOUS REFUSAL: Honestly, the VO was correct about the fact that my monthly earnings were not commensurate with savings shown in my account. This was because a lump sum payment for a property sold in 2020 was made into my bank account (over N10m). I attached an excerpt of bank statement showing the transaction date, deed of transfer and land survey docs. I also attached some copies of my previous pay slips and excerpts of bank statement showing salaries and benefits from my previous employers. I also explained my company's plan for expansion and how some employees (including me) have been lined-up for impending management positions. I explained how my salary would triple when I eventually clinch the management opportunity.
GHOST UPDATES: 20th January 2023, 24th January 2023 and 1st February 2023.
Eligibility review started 20th Jan 2023.
Medical passed Feb 8th 2023.
PPR DROPPED FEB 8TH 2023.
DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED (2ND APPLICATION):
LOE (2 pages only) (Straight to the point)
Previous and current job offer letters.
Previous and current payslips and excerpts of bank statements showing some previous and current salaries shown on attached payslips.
Deed of transfer showing landed property sold for NGN15m to a client.
Business registration docs.
Business premises photos.
Family pics.
Wedding pics.
birth certs.
Our intl passports.
Study leave approval letter.
B.eng cert and transcript.
Updated LOA.
Police character cert.
Stamped copies of old passports.
Scanned copies of bank statements + MBS.
Stanbic IBTC Pension reference letter showing pension of over 10m.
Vehicle documents and pics worth N8m and N5.5m.
Pics of buildings and deed of transfer for landed property.

I do not want to bore you with too many stories. However, these were the main documents submitted during my application.

SP application nor be by muscle...Na baba God get power...if you like do all the packaging in the world, if it's not your turn, it's not your turn.

But don't forget, visa officers always want to see the following items:

1. Good home ties (e.g wife, children, siblings, parents, personal business, landed property, study leave approval letter etc.).

2. Sufficient and available funding (not fixed deposit or pension).

3. Show sufficient documentation for source of fund.

4. Good study plan. 1 or 2 page SOP/LOE. Explain the benefits of proposed program. Explain why paying the cost of proposed program would be a reasonable expense considering the high cost of intl studies. Show career progression. Get a good convincing story.

5. Straight fwd application.

6. Pay 1st year full tuition (it will boost your chances). Ensure the total amount of money required to complete the proposed program is readily available (plus some extra money).
Finally, I sincerely wish to thank everyone for their contributions on this thread.
Dear Uottawa Fall 2023 folks, pls lets connect.

All glory be to God! See you'all in Canada.

Hello Gigdraft,

From the bolded statement below, are you saying if I submitted a 4-month mbs, IRCC would still be able to view up to 6-months financial transaction history?

For example, If I submitted an MBS from January 2022 to April 2022, will IRCC be able to view Nov and Dec 2021 transactions OR view May and June 2022 transactions OR only have access to view Jan to April 2022?

Kindly explain further. Thanks.

"With the advent of MBS, embassies are accorded the right to 6-month period of your financial transactions. They can see your inflow and outflow. They can spot a lumpsum and query or deny your application for it. (Exline101, I hope you are reading carefully? In your own case, there was deviation from your usual inflow and outflow. And, I am confident that you employed a third-party Cooperate Account.)"

My brother, Thank you very much.

Hello Ogidigan

1. Yes, you will need to explain in details your study Gap, just to convince the Visa officer that you have not been idle all these years but instead you have been actively productive all these years..

2. Age is never an issue when applying for study permit.. Like I have said some months back on this thread, with my experience, the oldest I have seen getting a study permit(Not on this thread though) is a 59 year old woman..
So age is just a number, just do your home work by giving the Visa Officer convincing reasons why you want you wanna study in Canada..

Peace

Dear all,

I'm 39 years old, married with children. I graduated since 2008. I've been in full-time employment since 2009. I intend to pursue an MBA in Canada because my company is considering me for a managerial position.

1. Do I need to explain study gap in my SOP ?

2. Will my age be an issue ?

TeeMade:
Good afternoon house, long post alert!!!

My journey to getting SP started in August 2020 and has now ended in praise to the glory of God. I will be detailed in this post hoping that someone can learn from it, same way I learnt a lot from other people's post on this platform. To the gurus @frankrobbn, @justmellow and others, I hail oh...
See timeline below:

1st Application
- Submitted on Aug. 28th 2020
- Biometrics done on Sept. 2nd 2020
- Refused on Sept. 12th 2020
Resaon: Purpose of visit
In gcms note: VO stated the following:
1. Study gap (despite the fact that I'm studying an MBA with a specialization in Professional Sales and Business Development) and I have over 10yrs of work experience in the business field, out of which about 7yrs is in sales/business development till the time of the application.
2. Age which was 34 at the time
3. Fact that I got a US tourist visa in Jan. 2017, had a child in the US with the visa in Jan. 2018 and my visa renewal was refused in Oct. 2019. Na so dem write oh and no be sey I owe money oh, all relevant documents were provided and I visited the US in June 2017 before having the baby there in 2018 but as Trump no gree renew the visa in 2019, wetin we go do?

2nd Application
- Submitted on October 28th 2020 (This was before I received the gcms note because I was trying to meet up with January 2021 start date but thankfully, the issues raised were already addressed with proper documentation because I had joined this platform by then. Thanks to all the gurus). The only document I didn't add was "Change of Intent" email that I sent to the US Embassy in Nigeria after I decided to use my tourist Visa for child birth.
- Upfront medical passed on Nov. 20th 2020
- NSE request letter received on Dec. 1st 2020
- NSE requests submitted on Dec. 13th 2020 (used this opportunity to include the left out document and carefully explained it in the brief LOE submitted with the request.
- Refusal letter came on January 24th 2021
Reasons: purpose of visit, ties to Canada, financial status/assets, language test.
Gcms note stated the following:
1. Application pre-review comments stated that I had a child in the US and my visa was not renewed afterwards, hence, my intent to study was in doubt. I was livid seeing this because an application had just been wrongly judged even before going through the facts and documents provided.
2. The VO's comment was practically thesame as the pre-review comment so it became clear to me that the refusals were purely based on bias because of the child birth in the US and the visa renewal refusal - see wetin Trump cause.

By this time, I knew it would take more than a re-application to tackle and clear the bias. I needed to do more so I decided to do a JR.

- JR commenced in March 2021
- My lawyer had 30days to file all documents
- All documents submitted by April 2021
- IRCC correspondence had 30days to respond
- Response letter received in May 2020 and stated that they will not do any filling but they retained the right to file if the Judge decides to hear the case. (Sounded like they were trying to buy time but I didn't find it funny at all).
It was a long wait before the Federal court judge responded

- Sept. 15th 2021 - Judge responded that based on documents provided in the application, he can't understand why the application was refused and scheduled a hearing for Dec. 8th 2021.
- IRCC correspondence conceded upon receiving the judge's response, requested to settle out of court.
- They decided to set aside the refusal decision, reopen my application and have another VO review it. I'll also be allowed to submit updated IMM forms, LOA and any other documents I deemed fit to support my application.
- At this point, my lawyer advised that I should pay a substantial part if my school fees if not all and I did that.
- Also, I had renewed my UK visa for 2years while in JR process cos I was planning a vacation and I included this to show that I do not have any immigration issues. Also added (as argued by my lawyer in her submission) that the US refusal was based on the then US government's ban on African countries including Nigeria and not because I did anything wrong.
- This time, I didn't submit an LOE to explain my conditions but a statutory declaration with bullet point to address every concern/explain every point and it was notarized and sealed by the Canadian lawyer.

Application reopening timeline:
- Profile update on Sept. 30th 2021
- Request for updated documents on Nov. 3rd 2021
- Documents submitted on Dec. 1st 2021
- Medical request received on Dec. 8th 2021 (exactly 1 week from the date of submission)
- Medicals done on Dec. 20th 2021
- Medicals passed on Dec. 29th 2021
- PPR received on Jan. 12th 2022
- Passport sent through DHL to VFS Lagos on Jan. 20th 2022 (I was out of the country when I got the PPR, submitted as soon as I returned)
- Received 4 emails on Jan 24th 2022 confirming receipt of my documents in VFS Abuja office and confirming it's been sent to IRCC office
- Conterfoil and LOI dropped on Jan. 26th 2022
- Also received 4 emails confirming that my decision envelope is ready for collection on same 26th
- Received a mail confirming that my decision envelope has been received by VFS Lagos on Jan. 28th 2022
- DHL delivered my passport in the morning, today Jan. 31st 2022.

N.B: Compare the responses on Jan. 24th 2021 and Jan. 24th 2022. In exactly 1 year, I was smiling about something that got me worried and angry. Stay with God regardless of your current situation, He is too faithful to fail and He loves us too much to ignore.

All thanks to God, it has ended in praise...

I wish all PPR hopefuls all the very best and reasons to smile as God fulfills your heart desires this week and beyond.

"Cancel your visa and get a refund:

If you do not want a visa any more, you can ask for a refund. You can only request a refund if:

you have not yet been to the Visa Application Centre to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph)

And

you want your visa application to be cancelled. A refund means that your application will not be processed.

You may have paid a User Pay Visa Application Centre fee as part of your application, depending on the Visa Application Centre you chose for your appointment. You will only get a refund of this part of your fee if you cancel your application and claim a refund more than 5 days ahead of your scheduled appointment date.

If your request for a refund is successful, your money will be refunded to the same account you used when you paid for your application"

Dear all,

My biometric appointment at TLS Ikeja is built for 9th Dec, i also wish to cancel my visa application today 5th Dec, but based on the excerpts above, do you think I can get a refund from TLS (N42,000 premium lounge + N8,000 express courier) and UKVI ( $133 application fees+ GBP220 priority fees)? since its already less than 5 days to the biometric appointment?

Pls, I look forward to your urgent responses. Thank you.

I paid for PRIORITY application.

I did biometrics on the 17th Nov.

Application was received at DMC on the 18th Nov.

Tomorrow (29th Nov) will make it 8 WDs since my application was received at DMC.

I thought Priority application normally takes 5 WDs. Do these people think GBP 220 is cray fish? I even paid for self, wifey and child; that's GBP 660 (almost 370k).

Meanwhile, is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

What if your bank account is empty? Will the ECO approve your visa because you didn't violate any UK rules during your previous visit?

Bros,

Approval depends mainly on your CURRENT personal and financial circumstances.

byrees:

I disagree with you

Uk won’t reject you if you have been given UK visa in the past and you didn’t violate any Uk rules plus you came back at the right time for the previous visa issued .

There is a particular waiver for people issued visa in the past who never violated any Uk rule

Hi,

I'm so sorry about your refusal. I must confess, this is almost a perfect application, but you know, you can't predict these ECOs.

I can see you saved 400k monthly; You saved 2.4m in 6months. Since your closing balance is 2.5m, It means you only had 100k balance before you suddenly started saving 400k monthly.

My candid advise: Continue to save 400k monthly, reapply in May 2022. I think the ECO needs to see sufficient balance. Don't be in a hurry, pls.

I wish you all the best this time around.

#My humble opinion...subject to correction from the gurus!

Bros,

Have you checked the present cost of return tickets from naija to London and back?

I doubt if you would get any 340k return ticket.

Christabeliciou:
As regards the 700k he decided to spend for the trip, you should consider if it's within his 2times disposable income or slightly above, if it's within or slightly to me I think the 700k is not bad to me. Becos U can book flight 340k, hostel 184k for 17nights, d left 174k can do feeding n transport.
However you know definitely you can spend more than that when you travel. Just my opinion

My sister got her 6months visa.
Application date-20th October 2021
Got to DMC on 25th October 2021
Received email to pick up on 22nd of November 2021.
She’s self employed,33years old and unmarried.
Paid herself only 3months salary as she had to stop during Covid because her business got a bit difficult.
CAC was inactive.
I want to thank everyone here even if I was advised not to go ahead with the application but with God, everything is possible.
Just be truthful and provide the necessary documents that can aid your application.

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Ogidigan1: 7:01pm On Nov 23, 2021
First of all, I'm so sorry about your refusal; but how many months bank statement did you print out?

The truth is, if you print out a 6-month bank statement from any Nigerian bank, it will only display:

"Total debit transactions within the chosen 6-month period" ,

"Total credit transactions within the chosen 6-month period",

"Opening balance as at the first day of the chosen 6-month period" and

"Closing balance as at the last day of the chosen 6-month period"

There's no way the system can generate an 11-year debit transaction if you request for a 6-month bank statement.

However, If you can hide your name and other sensitive personal details, pls post the front page of your acct statement so we can really see what went wrong.

Secondly, you stated that you would spend about NGN700k during your trip. I think that amount would not take care of your flight ticket, hotel accommodation and feeding for 17days, considering the current cost of purchasing flight tickets.

My humble opinion, subject to correction by the gurus.

Bobore12:
After 38 days of waiting I got a refusal email this morning that I spend 4,1350,000 for the period of 6 month so I quickly calculate the debit transaction and it was not up to that amount so when I checked my SOA I discovered the amount is total debit transaction since 11 years which I opened the account .Please help me what should I do now
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Ogidigan1: 10:54pm On Nov 22, 2021
1. I think the cost of your trip is more than 2X your monthly disposable income.

You planned to spend about NGN1.4m on this trip...this is clearly more than 2X your monthly disposable income based on the information shown on your refusal letter.

2. Don't forget to attached your Form CAC 1.1 next time and all other CAC documents.

3. Open a corporate acct for your business. Pay yourself monthly. Reduce your monthly expense so as to increase your disposable income.

4. Nine to Seven days tourist visit looks better than 15 days.

5. Compose a good cover letter; explain every large deposit on your corporate acct statement. Link them with your attached invoices.

6. Take time to prepare for your next application. Get it right this time!

These humble contributions are subject to correction by the gurus.

Wish you all the best on your next application.

I think undocumented deposits into accounts are applied to the minimum income earners as standard by the ECOS to avoid fund packing but when your income level reached a certain standard as yours they then tend to look at your application at a bigger picture.

So with your stated income figures above I think you are very good to go. But it also depends on how long the balance sits in your account during and over the 6 months period.

My opinion.

VISA APPROVED GUYS! Spring 2022

Date: 21st September 2021
Location: Abuja

My first time going to the US Embassy but this forum has been instrumental to my practice and information, so I had to just post mine for others to see.

I was interviewed by a white woman.

VO: Good morning, pass me your documents.
ME: Good morning. Sorry before we start, I stutter a bit but I will be fluent as possible
VO: No problem
VO: I can see you are going to Texas A&M University
ME: Yes, that's right
VO: For masters in Engineering?
ME: Masters in Industrial Engineering.(I corrected her immediately)
VO: Okay
VO: What do you do?
ME: I work at an Engineering firm in Lagos as a Technical Officer.
VO: What will you be doing after your study?
ME: I will definitely be coming back to Nigeria to continue working at my current company as I have an offer of a managerial role upon my return.
VO: I can see you work at XXXXXXXX
ME: Yes (I repeated the company name)
VO: What do they do?
ME: They are into fabrication of tanks, water and sewage treatment systems
VO: Give me an approximate staff strength of the company
ME: We have two Offices. One in Lagos and other in Ibadan with an approximate of 60 staff in total.
VO: who is sponsoring your study?
ME: My Uncle will be sponsoring me, he has been sponsoring my education as a child.
VO: What does he do?
ME: He is a medical doctor and he owns two hospitals, one in Lagos and other in Ogun state.
VO: Is he in Nigeria?
ME: Yes he is (He actually just returned from the US so my response was a bit shaky).
VO: Ok, I will be approving your visa......... (I always read on here that people stops hearing what the VO is saying about Covid at this point) I literally didn't hear anything as well, different thoughts and emotions all at once.

I collected my white paper and in two days my passport was in Lagos.

It was just God, that's all I can say!
