Quite a majority of the Police force are no different from robbers.
Aggressive reforms should be pursued
Pity most in the force are illiterates.
Government should also improve welfare packages for them
I really appreciate ur comment tis had been my pray for quite soon time now. i dont tink what actually nid is improvement of packages per say. the high level of illiteracy in the force xpecial the senior police office is dishearten at least one can conveniently xplain and interact wit some of those graduates newly recruited, but d senior officers are bleeped. And on till they start dismissing then for the negligent acts of their junior officer the much needed discipline in the police force cannot b achieved. In my view i think the police force should be disbanded. The Arm forces, army, navy, air force, etc cannot say they have all they wanted but at least they are discipline wen compared to the police. At they should be responsible 4 the security wen the police is disbanded on till a realiable force ic formed or room should be given for the creation of a state police at it will be closer to the people and complains can easily be dealt with. I belif no mata hw we missed use the state police politically or otherwise we will get it rit and it will be beta than the one we have now.

. . and you have to be foolish to sit and watch your fellow African killed by their own leader. Why do u need to be begged b4 u stop killing your own pple? Why do u have to wait untill the West begged u to stop killing your own pple?

Thanks for you comment. In the Arab Nations these leaders are not been voted for so also in most of the African countries. What these people are fighting for is a constitutional government where the powers are spell out. Countries like Cote d voire, liberia, Zair, and many faces(ed)  alot of crisis due to this. In Nigeria OBJ tried hard to elongate his tenure but due to our constitution we succeeded in fighting him out. These struggle by the people are been carried out by peaceful demonstrations, no destruction of government properties or treat to lives of others. These demands are not from opposition parties or politicians it is by the people. And what the leaders would is to welcome them with police brutality thereafter the arm force. Then the world will now begin to beg such leader to stop the killing of his own people in the name of sovereignty.

The revolution going on in the Arab world today is one which Europe had long or century ago experienced during the reign of the kings and religious leaders. Am really glad the revolution is happening now cos it will go a long way in stabilizing the region religiously and politically. What they are seeking is for them to vote in their leaders.
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Union Demands 'immediate' Halt To Libya Attacks by OJOnuh: 8:04pm On Mar 20, 2011
Am surprised about comments in support of Gaddafi. The man is delusional, his lost connection with this modem times. Before, the the people took arms to defend themselves he called thm al-queada, that they are under the influence of drugs. First he brought in mercenaries to kill his people. Then he called them terrorist. He told them he will show no mercy. Should a leader in the name of sovereignty kill his people? How many leaders in the western world or America would authorize the killing of its citizens. Those who condemned the west should know thai this is a UN resolution and this persons persons that condemned the intervention have a very myopic level of reasoning. Be informed that till now none of the foreign medials have confirm the claim that civilians are been tagged or killed. This man could do any thing to get sympathy. The man is completely out of touch with modem times. You will be surprised that in his state tv interview via telephone he was telling his people that the west are in support of Libya encouraging civilians to pick arms. Neither Gaddafi nor His Children now appears in public. They have gone hiding. For AU they are just far behind in dealing with world affairs. In 1994 the world was blamed for the killings in Ruwanda, not because the killed civilians their but because it failed to intervene on time. Thanks to them they have finally shown the world their level of greed, foolishness and kack of judgement.

The naija police force is a disaster, amongst the various forces including civil defense, the police force is the less educated and disciplined force in the country. I wish the police force is disband and at least these other forces are drafted to police the country till a well organised police is constituted for the nation. The problem with the police force is not funding or lack of equipment per say. It is pure lack of intelligence from the IG through the various ranks. The worst unit in the police force is the CID unit. This unit is the pivot of any police in the world but in naija this unit is a big disgrace and embarrassment to the nation. Just check those that call themselves IPOs i doubt if there is a secondary school leaver there let alone a graduate. Policing goes beyond training to handling guns, it goes to understanding the duties of the police and most especially when arrest can be made. The notion in the police force is that they are duty bound to protect the elite or wealthy and wait for us to make complaint of a crime that had already taken place. And in prosecuting cases the police merely work base on the complaint of the complainant without investigation the veracity of the complaint before making arrest. With the level of education and intelligence of the naija police even if their salaries are increased 10 times and patrol vans distributed to them it will still be the same thing. The police force is so rotten that only a disbandment is the answer. This also apply to NEPA of PHCN (just a change in nomenclature) and NNPC. These organs are too vital to the development of the nation.

African Union demands 'immediate' halt to Libya attacks AFP – A Libyan woman shouts slogans against strongman Moamer Kadhafi during a demonstration in front of the …

NOUAKCHOTT (AFP) – The African Union's panel on Libya Sunday called for an "immediate stop" to all attacks after the United States, France and Britain launched military action against Moamer Kadhafi's forces.

After a more than four-hour meeting in the Mauritanian capital, the body also asked Libyan authorities to ensure "humanitarian aid to those in need," as well as the "protection of foreigners, including African expatriates living in Libya."

It underscored the need for "necessary political reforms to eliminate the causes of the present crisis" but at the same time called for "restraint" from the international community to avoid "serious humanitarian consequences."

The panel also announced a meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on March 25, along with representatives from the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Conference, the European Union and the United Nations to "put in place a mechanism for consultation and concerted action" to resolve the Libyan crisis.

The AU committee on Libya is composed of five African heads of state. But the Nouakchott meeting was only attended by the presidents of Mauritania, Mali and Congo. South Africa and Uganda were represented by ministers.

The committee said it had been unable to get international permission to visit Tripoli on Sunday but did not elaborate.

Libyan generosity and Moamer Kadhafi's role in the creation of the African Union could explain the continental cautious stand, experts said.

The AU was born in the 1999 Sirte Declaration, named after a summit hosted by Kadhafi in his hometown on the Libyan coast.

The declaration said its authors felt inspired by Kadhafi's "vision for a strong and united Africa."

"The AU as an organisation has benefited significantly from Kadhafi's wealth," said Fred Golooba Mutebi of the Institute of Social Research at Kampala's Makerere University.

The pan-African body has taken a firmer stance on three west African crises: most recently Ivory Coast and previously Guinea and Niger.

Handouts aside, Libya has invested billions of dollars in sub-Saharan Africa.

It has interests in more than two dozen African countries, while its petroleum refining and distribution unit Oil Libya has interests in at least as many.

The African Union had spoken like Africans, full of corruption, greed, selfishness and had exhibited a high level of foolishness. The action of African Union clearly shows while the people of Ruwanda, Liberia, Burundi, Seria Leon and so on massacred themselves when the international world refused to intervene on time how has the AU been able to solve the Ivory Coast crisis? and Gbabo has started killing his people, if not for the intervention of the same UN. Is it because Gaddafi pivoted the forming of the AU that he should be allowed to kill his own people? Oil or no oil it was a right thing to do. The same thing was done in kosovo, Iraq

na2day!:

We all agree that Ghadaffi brought this on his own pate, we should also understand that the west is infact  jumping into this fray cos of their thirst for oil, Pls forget d humanitarian excuse they are proffering! Al Bashir's supporter of APC reduced d population of south Sudan and no tomahawk breaks their airspace.
The main architect of this present debacle in d making, Britain and France are looking for a regime change, especially Britain, remember it was same Britain dat made a deal with Ghaddaffi for oil exploration in exchange for d betrayal of d lockerbie victims cry from d grave for justice (also giving up d main accused without finishing his sentence),  same Britain was d first to send special forces (SAS) to meet wit d rebels for oil blocks negotiation and were promptly arrested and deported.
They panicked when ghaddaffi arrived at the gate of bengazi. of course, they know if ghaddaffi wins this one, dats their end in libya.
,  and someone says dis battle is for humanity and not oil, smh  angry
I rest my case

1. The government of sudan came out not only to tell the world that it has no association or connection with the supporter of APC but that it was going to figtht it. The mostly condemned the sudan government for not protecting the people of south sudan. In the case at hand is a different case.

2. The British special force that was send to Libya were arrested by the rebels and not the govenment in Tripoli. Their release was negotiated with the rebels and the subsequently deported them.

bechex:

Well, I believe everyone has his own opinion on what is happening in Libya, but some facts need to be ironed out,
1. The Libyan People held peacefull protest againt their President
2. Ghadaffi initiated attacks on his people, killing a lot of them using Millitary means including airstrikes against peacefull protesters.
3. The People started an armed revolt against him and he threatened to punish them. He said he will 'have no mercy'

The question we should ask ourseleves is that what would we do if we were in the shoes of the UN. After pleading with someone to implement a ceasefire, and he promises to ceasefire but ample evidence shows that he is still shelling his people. With the imminent slaughter of innocent people, what do you expect the UN to do, what would u do if you were in the shoes of the UN.

The issue of Bosnia, Zimbabwe or Rwanda should not be an issue here. if you can convince yourself that you would sit and do nothing in this case then u can criticize the UN.

I really want to appreciate you for bringing out these facts. It clearly shows that you are following the not just the Libyan crisis but what is happening all around the Arab Nation. It is also important to not that the people of Libya and the Arab League that first called  NU intervention. Allow Him to kill his people in the name of sovereignty. In 1994 the world was accused for the genocide in Ruwanda not because it was responsible for the killings but because it did not intervene when it sould have intervened. The man is inhuman. He called his people protesting peacefully as terrorist. In my opinion is a long awaited response.

Up blues! what is UEFA up to again. However is going to be a cracker am only fear is that we playing a team four times in a season and to pick all available points against it is not an easy tax. For Chelsea to win both the league and the champions league this season means we have to win - not draw - Man Utd four times which we had already beaten them once. Well this is the Blues Alwaz making history

I know that your religion, the very one you inherited from your parents, is a massive fraud. A huge huge deception that is leading you all to damnation. That much, i know because i have studied it's history whch is as murky as they come.

you seems to be this type of person that goes from church to church looking for break through which will never come until you put these time you use in roaming around churches into concrete use. I should be happy to still be going to the church my parents gave birth to in and which i grew up in. you dont study history from 2010 it goes beyond that.

Jenwitemi:

Here is the news; ALL churches, from the beginning of the institutionalized christianity to this very day, all have messages centered on earthly things. ALL OF THEM. Christianity, as a religion, is totally based on earthly things. So, to say that you have a "list" of churches that does what every other church has been doing for almost two millenis shows your total ignorance. Go do ya homework well, alexleo, for you know next to nothing.

The question here is what kind of earthly things do their message centered on prosperity, accumulation of wealth, miracle, healing which is questionable & should have been a matter of the faith of the one seeking it or what. And for your information so many are now enemies to their family members because of professes from those so called men of God some even with their parents and some with their neighbours. If what you meant is cordial relationship amongst various peoples, how to make the earth a peaceful place to leave on, how to be content with what we have, how those who have so much wealth - rather than for them (the men of God) to demand so much from them - can encourage them to create jobs for those that do not have, to encourage those that have not to create discrepancy or wall between them and those that do not have thus promoting love, how practice on earth those teachings in the scripture that will allow us make heaven, then i will share your point. For now oh! you are on your own.

alexleo:

yeah that is what you people usually quote when you are being told the truth. what is judgmental about what I see? Yet the same bible said- by their fruits we shall know them. So if i see a tree bearing mango fruit and say that the tree is bearing mango fruit what is judgmental about it? And if you see someone committing a crime and tell him to his face does that mean you are judging? These churches preach on TV and radio and people hear them. They sell their sermon tapes, they sell their books and people buy and read. How then do you think it is only when we attend their churches that we will be sure of their line of preaching? I used to listen to pastors chris Oyakhilome, David Oyedepo and some others but when I discovered that they revolve around the same earthly benefits under different sermon topics i stopped. Can we hear sermons that prepare souls for heaven from these pastors please. Enough of this money money preaching.
The world hates to hear the truth but we will keep saying it weather they like it or not.

Bro! you too much. I like the way you came out clean on it. Is just too true that men of God these days put too much pressure on their followers in getting the good things by all means and this could well speak of criminals being celebrated in various churches today. I guess it contributed to even the the youths indulging in all means of getting these earthly things. It equally affects in putting our talent into genuine uses.
