She was cut down in her prime by the man she loved till death did them part Obinna Akaleme, her husband. She died on the day she was due to give birth after series of miscarriages in her husband’s house.

Chinyere Sylvia Akaleme (nee Igbo) was born on 27 april 1981 into the family of Mr and Mrs Reginald Chiaka Igbo. The second child and 1st daughter of the family with six other siblings, Sylvia was raised in a middle-class Catholic family residing in Ajao estate, lagos where she had her nursery, primary and secondary education. She was a very bright pupil and her position in class never went below the top three. She gained admission into the university of Ilorin in Kwara state where she read electrical engineering and graduated with second class honours. She started a career in information technology and quickly got several professional qualifications including sisco into her academic profile. She started her working career with Karox computers before moving on to reliance info systems ltd where she became a product and sales manager

Two students of the University of Lagos have died in a midnight fire at a Lagos hotel. Roli Odogwu, a 200-Level Mass Communication student, and Linda Elegeonye, a 300-Level Law student, died of burns, days after they were trapped in the hotel room where they were guests.

Until their death, the two students were residents of Fagunwa Hall. It was gathered that the duo left the campus on Monday to attend an evening event off-campus. When it dawned on them that they could not return to the campus late in the night, they reportedly lodged in the hotel to pass the night.

The late Roli’s friend, who did not want to be named, said she spoke to her mother to inform her of her decision to pass the night in the hotel. It was gathered that the victims were asleep when the inferno started from a faulty air conditioner. .

On News!! EFCC Arrested Man With 848 ATM Cards
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has intensified probe of a man arrested in possession of 849 debit cards of different banks in the country.
Spokesman of the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, identified the suspect as Yasir Abdullahi.
He said Abdullahi was arrested at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on Friday while preparing to board an Egypt Air plane heading for Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Uwujaren said the anti-graft agency was looking into how the suspect came by the cards popularly known as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards in Nigeria.
He said,
“The suspect was intercepted after a scan of his luggage by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service revealed the suspicious items.
“The officers then alerted the EFCC’s office in Kano. On arrival, operatives of the commission discovered that he had 490 Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards, 287 cards of Access Bank, 49 of Eco Bank and 10 of United Bank for Africa (UBA).
“Others are six ATM cards of Stanbic IBTC Bank, four of Zenith Bank, and one each of Sterling Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and First City Monument Bank,“he said.

Justice At Last For Aluu4: Court Sentence 3 People To Death For Murder Of Aluu 4, 4years Ago
A High Court in Rivers State has found 3 people guilty for the death of four students Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa, and Tekena Elkanah, who were murdered more than 4 years ago in UNIPORT.
The court presided over by Justice Nyordee sentenced the three guilty people to death. The court discharged and acquitted the remainingfour suspects.
Justice Nyordee stated that prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th accused persons were involved in the murder of the four.
It will be recalled that 12 people, including a police sergeant have been facing trial since Dec. 20, 2012 over the alleged murder of the students.
However, five out of the 12 suspects, including a traditional ruler in Aluu Community have been discharged.

Nigerian Man Confronts Governor For Delaying Their Flight For 6 Hours But Then Receives The Beating Of His Life
A social media user identified as Vanladi has taken to his Instagram page to narrate the cruelty he was subjected to by a serving governor in the country.
According to the social media user, the governor delayed his flight for six hours and ordered him to be beat up after he questioned the reason for their flight delay.
Vanladi took to his Instagram page to narrate his ordeal stating that the flight was booked from Jalingo to Abuja.
He wrote:
“I booked an @overland flight from jalingo to Abuja for 1pm today and when we all got to the airport we were told there was gonna be a 30mins delay which we agreed to. We waited for 2 hours without any information from the airline or the airport authorities.
After 2 hours, I and my colleagues got so hungry that we had to look for food at the closest location to the airport which is the Nysc camp mammy market all because the airport is at a remote location far away from the town.
All passengers at the airport kept complaining when minutes became hours and there no sign of us taking off soon. Finally at 7pm we were called to board only for us to be delayed in the plane further,few mins later the Governor of the state walks into the plane without the courtesy to apologize for keeping us from 1pm to 7pm(6 good hours).
I then walk up to him and explain “sir I am a law abiding and tax paying citizen just like the other people on the plane whom u delayed from 1pm till now and we were not given the courtesy of an apology from the airline or from your office.

Woman Doubles Lawsuit Against Usher To $20Million After Tests Result Confirm Herpes
An Atlanta woman who said Usher did not tell her that he has herpes prior to an unprotected sexual encounter three months ago claims she’s tested positive for the disease.

The death of three persons have been confirmed in a suicide bomb attack at the Dalori Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri on Sunday night by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The NEMA North-East Zonal Information Officer, Mr Abdulkadir Ibrahim, confirmed this on Monday, adding that 15 other persons were injured during the incident.

A competent security source had earlier told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that a female suicide bomber was shot by security men when she tried to cross the perimeter fence at the camp.

“They shot her and the explosive device strapped to her body detonated, and blew the woman into pieces,” the source said.

The source added that a male suicide bomber had also infiltrated the camp and detonated the explosives strapped to his body and killed four persons.

“Two persons died on the spot while two others died at the hospital,” the source added.

Breaking: Explosion as security agencies abort jailbreak in Bayelsa
Explosion on Sunday night rocked a section of the Okaka Prison in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following failed attempts by six inmates to escape from the facility.

The inmates led by one Victor Tekekuma, who is awaiting trial for murder and kidnapping, deployed an explosive in a failed bid to escape from the prison.

Victor and five others blasted a toilet wall in the prison at 9.02 p.m. and crawled out through the improvised hole into the prison yard.

However, the blast drawn the attention of prison officials and other security operatives on duty to the scene of the explosion and they responded swiftly to the situation.
The fleeing inmates ran to the massive fence with the intention of blowing up the fence with the second explosive but were accosted and arrested by the security operatives.

The state’s Controller of Prisons, Mr. Chiabu Chuks Victor, whose residence was close to the prison, gave distress calls to the state’s Police Commissioner, Amba Asuquo, who deployed a detachment of police operatives to the scene.

The Director of the Department of State Security (DSS), Mr. Segun Agbaje, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Desmond Agu and the Joint Task Force (JTF), also sent their officers to foil the plot.

A security operative, who spoke in confidence, said the mastermind of the failed prison break got the IEDs through his brother-in-law, who paid him a visit in prison.

He said the explosive was concealed in one of the sealed beverages delivered to the inmate by his in-law.
