I can't really fathom How graduates who were rightly employed, and were not paid their salaries for months will out of fear of sack continue to go to work. in the guise of let your name appear in the attendance book. Ignorance in display. You will squeeze out money pay tp to school n sit down without teaching? isn't it it a waste in need? teachers! teachers!! teachers!!! Na wa o....

The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof Kaniye Ebeku, has urged teachers in the state to first exhaust all avenues of dialogue before considering the proposed strike action.Ebeku, who made the appeal recently in a meeting with the teachers in Port Harcourt, the state capital, noted that the policy of the present administration was not to owe any staff, hence, the allegation of outstanding salary arrears to teachers would be looked into with a view to addressing the problemThe commissioner told the teachers that, “assuming without considering that any legitimate teacher is being owed salary, we believe that you should not start by going on strike.“We need to know how this came about because as far as this government is concerned, the policy isnot to owe any staff. So,if any staff is being owed salary, there mustbe something wrong along the line that we will seek to explore and resolve.“Consequently, we haveurged them (teachers) to stop any planned strike action that could disrupt the smooth resumption of students’upcoming academic session,” Ebeku added. He used the opportunityto urge parents and guardians to prepare their children and wardsfor the new date of resumption of schools, which is September 19, 2016.The Tide recalls that teachers under the auspices of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) had last week, issued a communiqué directing teachers to resume work after the holidays while appealing to government to pay them their outstanding salary arrears, while at the same time, warning that they would embark on strike, if on resumption, they are not given their entitlements. In the communiqué, theteachers had listed payment of arrears of salaries, implementation of promotions and conduct of outstanding promotion interviews of those who are due as issues to be addressed by the government. The communiqué was issued at the end of a meeting of the State Wing Executive Council (SWEC) of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Rivers State wing.
arrant nonsense. absolute rubbish. as a commissioner has he ever been owed his salary and entitlements for even a month?

May God direct whom ever that is incharge and responsible for our remaining 4,5&6 months salary to pay all our money between today Wednesday, 14/SEP/2016 and next tomorrow Friday, 16/SEP/2016.
This I pray through Jesus christ our lord, amen.

Indeed many of us have a lot of bill to settle like; debt owes to friends, house rent, children school fees and others.
How can we maintain this our noble profession effectively with huge bill hanging round our neck?
God please help us.
I wholeheartedly join you in this prayer and I say amen

as much as I would have wanted us NOT to resume on 19th Sept, I think the 21 days notice is to ensure the strike is Legitimate in every sense, meaning State Govt can't threaten us with NO-WORK-NO-PAY....... or even a sack, cause we embarked on the potential strike!
So when is the 21 days ultimatum suppose to end?

PORT HARCOURT – SECURITY guards and labourers in the Rivers State Modern Primary Schools, spread across the 23 localgovernment areas of the state, have warned that they would put the schools under lockand key even after resumption tomorrow (Wednesday) until their backlog of salaries is paid. The guards and labourers, who launched a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt, Thursday, last week, complained that the state government owed them salaries ranging from six months, eight months to 13 months. They vowed not to allow academic activitiescommence in the modern primary schools after resumption on Wednesday (Tomorrow) until their backlog of salaries was cleared by the state government.Don’t bother your children resuming schoolSpokesman of the labourers, Mr. Godswill Nwuke, warned parents and guardians not to bother bringing their children and wards to schools when schools resume tomorrow, accusing the government and contractor in charge of the jobs of treating them disdainfully.“We are being owed for six months now by thestate government. The bible says a labourer is worthy of his wage, but wehave been beggingthe state government to pay us and they have refused to do something.“This time, we are going to lock all the modern primary schools. We are telling parents to please not bother to bring their wards to schools as schools resume. Until we receive our money, we will not open the schools for any academic purpose.“We will not allow anybody to come into the school compound until wereceive our six months’ salary,” heasserted.Going to work with empty stomachNwuke added: “Some months ago, we met with the state government and they promised to pay us within threedays, but since then till now, we have not received anything and they have not called us for any other negotiation. Now we are not ready for any negotiation again.”He said: “Rivers State Government is not helping matters at all, the same government that we voted into power, which promised to pay workers’ salaries, how do they want us to cope? Do they want us to be going to work with empty stomach?”One of the protesting workers,Sir Kingsley Owhondah, who works at Isiokpo Primary Schools Board in Ikwerre local government area, cautioned: “We want to advisethose head masters that took laws into their hands last time we tried to lock the schools that this time it is not going to be easy for them.“We are also begging the security agencies to stay clear, although we know that the Department of State Service, DSS boss the last time we were owed eight months, pressurized the state government to go and pay. I know that this timehe will stand on hisfeet to beg us, but we will not accept any appeal until our salaries are paid,” he said.Another worker, Chioma Albert, asked: “Must they owe us six months before they pay us?The truth is that they must pay us complete before we will allow schools to commence. We do not want to accept part payment again. They shouldpay us our full payment this time.”Another colleague of his Mr. O. Worlu, said: “This is 13 mouths now that Alakahia Primary School has not received salary. I am standing here calling on head masters, teachers, elders and community leadersto stay away from school. Before, if we lock school, they will come and beg us but this time, no way.”Govt owing workers- ContractorContacted, the contractor handling the security arrangement, Mr. Chijioke Tasie, confirmed that the state government was not fulfilling itspromises to the workers, adding: “The workers are right that they are being owed. The promises have not been fulfilled. I am sure they are aware I am not partof the problem.”“While I have refused to talk to them and made them promise, the promise can never be tangible except it is backed with money, which is why I have not had the courage to address them. People who are giving us promisesare not fulfilling. “There is no week we do not reach the authorities two or three times. I even reached themlast Wednesday, but nothing is coming forth,” he said.Tasie, however, said he was not in support of the labourers going physical, but urged the guards to be peaceful in the agitation for their rights.

chimere66:
#EdoDecide2016: PDP LEADERS AFFIRM SUPPORT FOR PDP CANDIDATE, PASTOR OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU
.....urge Edo people to End APC misrule.

National leaders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)  yesterday (6-9-16) in solidarity with the good people of Edo state attended a stakeholders meeting to sensitize party faithfuls and the people ahead of Saturday's Guber election in the state.

The well attended meeting witness solidarity speeches from the People of Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa. In their various goodwill messages delivered by Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Gov. Nyesom Wike and Dep. Gov. John Jonah respectively, they affirmed their support for the PDP candidate and his SIMPLE Agenda to redefine and positively sharpen leadership in Edo State and therefore urge their brothers and sisters in Edo State to return to the PDP family by voting massively for the "Pastor wen sabi" because with him the future is now.
They informed the elated people of Edo state who are already warming up to change the change for real that unlike the Association of Past Criminals(APC) who will make promise and later turn around to deny it after election, the PDP has proven itself worthy as a dependable party in delivering it's electoral promises and defending it's policies and programme without blaming anybody.

The turn out of Edo people at the meeting even when it was meant to be a meeting of few leaders is a clear manifestation that the end of APC misrule has come in Edo State.  The smiles and the shout of Okowa and Wike show us the way that rented the air further proved that what President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC leaders attended earlier today at the Ogbemudia stadium turn out to be the send forth for Adams Oshiomole and the service of song of the APC awaiting it final burial rites on Saturday when it's remains will be laid to rest by people of Edo State. The message was simple, APC has brought untold hardship to Nigerians with no hope of restitution, The south south has resolve to strengthen it economic integration policy therefore Edo State must return to the PDP fold to make the bond stronger.

All speakers affirmed that there is no better time to end the absymal performance of APC in Edo State and Nigeria than now. They encouraged the voters to protect their votes until the final declaration of pastor Ize-Iyamu as the Governor - elect of Edo state. Edo people must shine their eyes and resist the intimidations of the dead APC.

Indeed,  the signal is getting stronger, Edo people are already celebrating liberation from a party that has impacted negatively on every sector of the country and has performed abysmally in governance. Their commitment to change the change for real is overwhelming and the PDP family appreciate their supports and encouragement to the party's SIMPLE agenda for a better and brighter Edo state.

Gov. Okowa of Delta, Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers,  Dep. Gov. Jonah of Bayelsa, PDP CTC Mallam Ahmed Makarfi, Chief Tony Anenih, Chief Tom Ikimi, Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor, Chief Emma Ogidi, Delta Commissioners, Barr. John Nani(Environment), Hon. Henry Sakpra(Special Duties) and Hon. Patrick Ukah (Information) amongst other party leaders and faithful attended the stakeholders meeting.

I won't bother joining issues with you,if I understand correctly, all those who have not received salaries all have a common problem, which is the February non-payment issue which was due to late submission of BVN and other details(which isn't the government's fault). The entire process that led us to this point is as a result of the biometric team's inability to resolve the issue on time. When the issue was resolved weeks back, was the list not sent to the governor for approval? Will the governor go to the ICT department and do their job?You are to be likened unto a tortoise who has been in a pit toilet for years, only to complain of the stench on the day he was being rescued.Your money is here, and we all know it wont be paid this week but next week.Put ur mind on that and stop trying to insult someone who doesn't care about your cheap words.
.you. are just being insensitive to others plight.
