Addiction to gambling, masturbation and porn are all unhealthy practices that have the potential of causing significant demage to an individual's mind, finance and spirituality.

You seeking for help about your condition is praiseworthy. As most people go through this detrimental end without having the courage or will to address it.

Masturbating, porn watching and gambling are habits built over time. When these pattern of behaviours become registered in the brain, by default, it becomes much more easy to engage in them.

Although, engaging in any of these acts could provide momentary pleasure, however, its long term detrimental impact is not a play something.

Battling any form of addiction is quite challenging depending on its severity as it requires a true self commitment, consciousness and discipline to address it. Below are some of my recommendations:

1. One's spirituality is highly needed, reconnect with your creator and ask for help.

2. Be determined to follow the right path to healing.

3. Distance yourself from activities that would lead you to this act. Which may include deleting the betting app, changing what you listen to and watch as well as the company you keep.

4. Channel your energy into productive activities.

5. Help is always available to those who seek it. However, it is important you get help from the right channel.

I hope you'll find this contribution useful towards your healing.

If possible, attend this online workshop. I believe you'll gain something meaningful.

Peace

As much as we appreciate quality works from our writers here in Nairaland. it is important that we shun this act of plagiarism which some writers engage in. There is a need to check the originality of stories published on this platform. We have always respect our writers by pouring words of encouragement and acknowledging their thoughtfulness. We don't deserve to be fooled by some of them.

rachealfst:
This is not an update on Broken Hedge. This is my own story.

******
Although today is my birthday but today is not about me but it’s about God and his faithfulness. The Lord turned my darkness into light and mourning into dancing and healed me completely. March 6, 2012, A year after my NYSC, I had an auto accident in Lagos. Open wound fracture, fracture of the ankle, tibia and fibula. I had post surgery complications after my first surgery. I almost lost the leg completely because it has already turned dark and lifeless. At some point I never felt any sensation in the leg until later that I started feeling pains, the pain was unbearable, I only sleep when sedated.
And for the past five years, I wasn’t able to walk. After surgeries upon surgeries. I couldn’t walk still. We went to another hospital outside Nigeria and they said the only option left was amputation. We consulted another specialist, they said the same thing. And all those years I was living in pains. The depression stage was far worse, I can’t even go into that here.
At some point when the pain was unbearable I begged one of the nurses to please inject me and let me die but she refused. Then I told God to please take my life. I wake up every day in pain and instead of me thanking God for a new day, I asked him why he didn’t kill me in my sleep. Thank God he didn’t answer those prayers, now I have more than 1001 reasons to live.
But God in his infinite mercies stood up for my help and said enough is enough. Thank God for a very good friend God used for me. Damilare, you are a friend indeed. If not for God who used him and his mum for me, maybe my leg would have been amputated by now. God bless the day I met you in school. I never knew God brought us together for this reason because God used him to save me as I was introduced to some doctors in UCH who offered to try their best. I was preparing to go for my masters as at that time of the accident, I was given admission but I couldn’t go for the program. Instead of having my masters program in UI, I found myself in UCH.
Some of the doctors suggested amputation again. They gave me another option which was prosthetics but I don’t want prosthetics, I want my own leg. Later, they decided to give the proposed surgery (external fixation-Illizarov) a trial maybe it will work or not but God made it work even though I had another surgery again after that. Shout out to my consultant and all his team who didn’t give up on me. I can’t start mentioning names God bless you all.
At some point, I fainted, but I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I realized that no one could help me except God, so I encouraged my same in the Lord and held on to his promises. Though the night was cloudy but there is still this light that is shining on me. Right there on my bed, I started writing and that was how I became a writer and I want to bless God for those wonderful books I wrote. Some times I get feedback from people and I cry. Who could have thought that something good could come out of me.
People suggested other alternatives to us, but we held on to God, our faith was tested but I’d rather not walk than to go to a herbalist.
God delivered me from the problem that is beyond my parents, they are ready to spend anything but money can’t buy a new leg. It can only buy me a prosthesis.
Though I lost so many things but I did not loose everything. I never lost my hope, joy, faith and my praise. No the devil couldn’t take that away from me.

Today, I can stand on my feet and walk on my own. And I know he will soon make my steps perfect that it is now. I appreciate my wonderful parents who stood by me. For all those time, energy and money that was spent on me. My father said “if I have to sell everything I have and walk naked for you to walk again, I’ll do it” But I thank God those money they spent didn’t go in vain.
My mum who slept on the hospital floor for good five months in LASUTH. My ever supportive siblings and cousins, thank you for being there. And there are some three families I will never forget in my life, Mummy Omotayo, Solanke family, Owofade Family, this people carried my potty(my pee, poo) they stood by me, took my burdens upon themselves, I cost them sleepless nights. May God reward you for your good deeds. All my pastors for your prayers. Family members, Uncles, aunties, my doctors and wonderful nurses, I say thank you to you all. To some wonderful patients I met in the ward, even in their own conditions they still look out for me. I remembered the day the all the patient in my ward wept because of me when I was returned back to the hospital, I appreciate you all, I pray affliction will not rise the second time in Jesus name. Caring patient relatives, All the families in my home church, thanks for all your support, God bless you all. Jesus throne members, thank you. To all my friends and fans online who never knew me but showed me love. To everyone who was there for me one way or the other(e.g those who supplied movies, so I won’t be bored, those who make my hair in the hospital, at home, those who come around to keep me company) I say thank you to everyone of you.
To all my friends/colleagues who have been asking for my whereabout and wondered where I was I’m sorry for not telling anyone about my condition, It’s not a thing of celebration especially in a time when all my mates are doing well for themselves. Some will call me and ask won’t you get married, what are you still doing” I wish they knew I had something more important than marriage that I was fighting for-my life. For those who are asking for my whereabout, I was somewhere under heavens trying to get my life back in order. And God gave me back my life.
I return all glory back to God. The lover of my soul, Who am I Lord Jesus that you are mindful of me. I’m not better than those who’s leg have been amputated or those who even loose their lives in the process. God turned things around for me in 2017 and I bless God because this was not where I was last year January.
Anty Taiwo Aderinto' s words to me, she said “Toyin, one day you will understand why God made you pass through this” And now I understand why. God broke me, so his light could shine forth in me. He remold me to what he wants me to be.
I am a living witness to the fact that God still answers prayers, what doctors said is impossible he made it possible. Onise Iyanu took away the chains and cords that held me down for the past five years.
For those who are passing through one challenges or the other right now, just hold on to God. Though it may tarry but he will come to pass. But if you have Jesus, you have everything. And if you haven’t given your life to him, you better do because that is the only one who can help you in times of trouble.
Once again I return all glory to God Almighty who really proved that he is worthy to be praise just like my name(Oluwatoyin)

Who did it?
Jesus!
Oh my God!
Wow!

Garri has saved millions of lives since this country was founded by the great founding fathers, how many has the Nigerian government killed due to negligence, corruption or failed governance? Garri has fed old, young and even babies in this country. Garri is the reason some people can sleep or wake in the morning. Garri is our heritage and savior..

Garri is more valuable to every Nigerian than Buhari is! be you Northerner, Fulani, Yoruba, Ibo, Niger Delta you have felt the touch of garri directly or indirectly
With these premises of urs, I assertively conclude that you're ILLOGICAL.
