Mike Ashley could be ready to leave Newcastle United behind him after reports have emerged that he has sold the club to a Dubai-based billionaire.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the interested party in the club is Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan, who is none other than the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.


While the Sun reports that Ashley has moved ahead with the sale, the Telegraph says its 'several high-placed sources' are unable to confirm whether Al Nehayan's £350m offer has been accepted.

The newspaper added that all of its questions were met with a "no comment," but one of its sources said that the quoted fee was 'an accurate reflection of the asking price.'

This is not the first time that Al Nehayan has been interested in taking over a football club. In fact, the 61-year-old attempted a £2bn takeover of Liverpool in 2018.

Rafa Benítez's future remains uncertain at Newcastle and he admitted after their 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at St James' Park that he wanted to stay at the Magpies.

Wayne Bridge expressed his surprise that Maurizio Sarri is still at Stamford Bridge after a 'poor' first season with the club.

The Italian has divided opinion since replacing Antonio Conte as Chelsea head coach, with many fans failing to fall for his famous Sarri-ball tactic.

Reports this week have suggested that Sarri is close to agreeing a move to be head coach of Juventus, a move which could be seen as ideal for all parties involved given the current circumstances at the club.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has reportedly suffered a knee injury ahead of Wednesday's Europa League final with Arsenal.
Kante missed the closing games of the Premier League campaign with a calf problem, but the France international had returned to training ahead of the showdown with the Gunners in Baku.

However, according to The Mirror, Kante is now likely to miss the showpiece having sustained an issue with his knee on Saturday.

The report suggests that Kante still needs to be assessed in the coming days, but it appears that Maurizio Sarri will be left with just three fit central midfielders.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has already been ruled out after Achilles surgery, meaning that Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley are expected to start against Chelsea's London rivals.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN COACH Thomas Tuchel has extended his deal with the French Ligue 1 champions through to June 2021, the club announced on Saturday.

The 45-year-old German took over in June 2018 and despite winning Ligue 1 has come under scrutiny after the Parisian club’s defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League last 16.

The news cuts short speculation that PSG’s Qatari owners would fire Tuchel and hire outgoing Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri.

“I’m delighted to extend my contract and commitment to Paris Saint-Germain,” Tuchel said.

“I’d like to thank the chairman and the whole club for their trust in me and my staff. This only reinforces my ambition to bring this team to the very top through hard work,” he told the club website

I’m also very touched by the backing of our supporters, and I’m sure that the best is yet to come for our club.”
Nasser al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO, praised Tuchel’s energy and modus operandi.

“For a year now, Thomas has been bringing fantastic energy to the daily life of the club, not only for the players, but for the whole of Paris Saint-Germain,” the Qatari said.

“We are delighted to be able to rely on his qualities on a long-term basis.”

Tuchel was appointed last year on a two-year deal to succeed Unai Emery. He had been widely praised for his work at the Parc des Princes, but another elimination from the Champions League in the first knockout round had raised questions.

PSG had been desperate to make progress in Europe after being knocked out of the Champions League last 16 in back-to-back seasons under Emery.

They looked on course to reach the quarter-finals after a 2-0 win away to United in the first leg, but a 3-1 home loss at the Parc des Princes knocked them out on away goals.

The nature of their defeat, especially coming two years after their capitulation against Barcelona at the same stage, has seen PSG widely labelled as bottlers, incapable of dealing with the tension on the big stage.

It’s a tough question to ask, Why is a young superstar leaving a team that just won their country’s first ever domestic treble? The answer is always going to come down to multiple factors and facets. With regards to Leroy Sane, it starts with a basic fact, he does not fit into Pep Guardiola’s formation.

Right or wrong, Pep has always built his teams to play with inverted wingers. Right footers on the left and left footers on the right are his tactic, going all the way back to Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi at Barcelona. Leroy Sane is left-footed winger, who plays at his best on the left-hand side. He played nearly 1,900 in the Premier League this season and all of them were on the left side of the front three.



But in this his third season at the Etihad, Sane came off the bench 10 times, after coming off the bench 11 times the last two seasons. He was on the bench in big games like both legs against Tottenham and the FA Cup Final. It had been made clear, both by Guardiola and by production, that Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva have to be the starting wingers.

It’s easy to see why an elite footballer would look elsewhere as he has lost his place. Manchester City would never admit this, but they would probably be better off if Sane were to sign with Bayern Munich.

City’s Benefit

Manchester City is facing a crucial summer for the development of their project. For years they have skated by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules without serious sanctions. But the newest case UEFA has on the club and their ownership is the most damning and could lead to the club being thrown out of next season’s Champions League.

The club has been aware of this for some time and has been doing their best to balance the books. Over the last three transfer windows, they have only made one signing, Riyad Mahrez. Everton, a club with less than half the revenue of Manchester City, has spent more than twice City has in that time.

Manchester City wants to add depth to the back end of their squad in order to push for a Champions League title; barring expulsion. They have been heavily linked to Rodrigo Hernandez of Atletico Madrid, along with Ben Chilwell at Leicester City. Both players would be important back-end reinforcements for a Champions League run.

It is much easier to make those purchases if there is already money coming via a sale. And while Leroy Sane is a great talent, he plays at a position of strength for Manchester City. Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez have all played on the left-hand side of the front three this season

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has finally agreed on a €24m-a-year with Juventus to become their new manager.
Guardiola has been strongly linked with a move to join the Serie A champions this summer.
The Spaniard was dismissive last Friday when asked about the Turin club following news that Massimiliano Allegri is to leave the Old Lady this summer.
“How many times do I have to say? I’m not going to go to Juventus, I’m not going to move to Italy.

“I’m satisfied here, I’m not going anywhere. Next season I will be manager of Man City. I said many times,” Guardiola told reporters ahead of their FA Cup final against Watford.
However, on Thursday, Calciomercato is now reporting that the City boss has agreed on a ‘four years contract with a fee of 24 million euros per season’ to become Juventus’ new manager next season.
The Italian newspaper claimed that the 48-year-old former Barcelona coach will sign a deal with the Turin club on June 4 and he will be officially unveiled on June 14.

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has identified Liverpool’s left-footed winger, Mohamed Salah, as his replacement at Nou Camp.
According to Sportskeeda, Messi, who will be 32 next month, has told the club’s board to sign the Egyptian international this summer’s transfer window.

Real Madrid ended a poor season with a 2-0 defeat to Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane is Madrid’s third manager of the season following unsuccessful stints for Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

The Frenchman returned to the club less than a year after departing and knows he is in for a busy summer as he sets about overhauling an ageing squad.

The Premier League clubs are said to have tabled £50million bids for Bale, although Madrid would want to recoup most of the £80m they paid Spurs in 2013.

Meanwhile, the same publication also suggest Toni Kroos could be sold to United, Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain in order to raise funds to sign Neymar at the end of the season.

The Brazilian superstar is seen as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also expected to leave the Bernabeu after the current campaign.

Matthijs de Ligt has named Player of the Year in the Eredivisie for the 2018/19 campaign after leading Ajax to their first Dutch league title in five years.

The 19-year-old centre-back has become the youngest player to have ever been awarded the Dutch Golden Boot trophy.

PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong clinched the Silver Boot, while Ajax forward Dusan Tadic won the Bronze Boot.

The Golden Boot is an award given by the newspaper De Telegraaf and has been awarded to players such as Johan Cruyff, Frank Rijkaard, Ronald Koeman, Romario, Ronald de Boer and Luis Suarez.

"It's a good list of names and the fact that they won this award is an additional motivation for me to achieve everything I can in my career," said De Ligt.

"This [award] is good for the history books and I'm proud of that."

The Ajax captain will receive his award in September in a gala, where he will be joined by his Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong, who will collect the prize for the Best Talent of the season in the Eredivisie.

LIVERPOOL star Sadio Mane will not be joining Real Madrid with Florentino Perez unwilling to fork out for the Senegal international, according to reports.

Mane was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid when Zinedine Zidane returned to the Bernabeu back in March.

Speculation of a transfer has, however, cooled down in recent times with the La Liga giants appearing to look elsewhere.


Real Madrid are understood to covet the arrival of Eden Hazard, who appears primed to join from Chelsea once the Blues’ Europa League final with Arsenal is done.

Arsenal are keen on a move for Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice, continuing a long-standing policy of pinching young French talent.

The youngster, who has also been linked with newly-promoted Norwich City, has impressed in Ligue 2 this season, scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances. Claude-Maurice has also appeared twice for France Under-20 team and is regarded as one of the country's brightest prospects.

The Mirror report that the Gunners have scouted the youngster regularly and are set to move in front of ​Norwich in the queue for his signature. The Canaries had reportedly been readying a £9m bid after identifying the 20-year-old as a key target ahead of their return to the top flight.

Several French clubs are also interested in the youngster, including Monaco. Lille, who are lining up potential replacements for ​Premier League-linked Nicolas Pepe, are also reportedly tracking the young forward.

​Arsenal enjoyed a successful shopping trip to Lorient last summer, signing the impressive Matteo Guendouzi for £7m, and will hope that Claude-Maruice can provide similar value for money.

Claude-Maurice, who can play out wide or through the middle, would add much needed depth to Arsenal's forward line. Danny Welbeck is set to depart on a free this summer following an injury-ravaged season, meaning backup is needed for strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.


The Gunners are also short in the wide areas, with Denis Suarez failing to impress during his 6-month loan spell. Claude-Maurice's versatility and ability to play across the forward line would definitely give Emery another option on the flanks.

Arsenal are also in the market for a central defender, following injury to Rob Holding and the poor form of Shkodran Mustafi. The ​Premier League side have been linked with a number of defensive targets, including Roma's ​Kostas Manolas.

Hector Bellerin has urged more men to “speak out” and “fight” against abortion laws in the United States.

The Arsenal star admits he wanted to see more people in football discuss the controversial legislation publicly.

Missouri’s Republican-led House passed legislation to outlaw almost all abortions after eight weeks of pregnancy.


And Bellerin is adamant the issue is not just for women but every human being.

“I wanted to see if anyone from our industry would speak out about the abortion bill, but I guess people are too scared,” Bellerin wrote on social media.


“This isn’t just an issue for women, it’s one for every human being.

“We fight for equality and this is something men should fight for and not hide away from.”

The 23rd-ranked Tennessee baseball team rallied late Saturday afternoon to give itself a chance to sweep 15th-ranked Ole Miss, but the Vols fell just short in a 5-4 loss in their regular-season finale at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

A sluggish start put the Vols in a 5-0 hole heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but they steadied the ship to stay in the game before rallying for three runs to narrow the score to 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh.

Tennessee stranded the tying run in scoring position in the seventh, though, and it got no closer.

A big weekend series win over the Rebels should have been enough for the Vols to secure an NCAA Tournament berth, but they can help their cause even more in next week’s SEC Tournament.

NO. 23 VOLS RALLY BUT FALL SHORT IN LOSS TO NO. 15 OLE MISS
The No. 23 Tennessee baseball team rallied late but came up a run short in Saturday afternoon's series finale versus No. 15 Ole Miss, losing 5-4 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium to cap the regular season.

The Volunteers entered the bottom of the fourth inning trailing 5-0 but scored four runs to make things interesting down the stretch.

Junior first baseman Pete Derkay and sophomore left fielder Alerick Soularie both had a pair of hits to lead Tennessee’s attack, but Ole Miss’ Tyler Keenan had the biggest hit of the game with a three-run home run in the top of the third. Jacob Adams drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run for Ole Miss with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Freshman right hander Gunnar Hoglund earned his second win of the year after tossing six solid innings for the Rebels, allowing three runs on five hits. Tennessee junior starter starter Zach Linginfelter took the loss after giving up five runs on four hits in 3.1 innings of work.

The Rebels manufactured a run in the top of the second to open the scoring. Cole Zabowski led off the inning with a walk, advanced to second on a single and moved to third on a deep fly out before scoring on a double steal to give UM a 1-0 lead.

Ole Miss added to its lead with the Keenan homer in the top of the third to put the Rebels ahead 4-0. It was the team-leading 13th home run of the year from the sophomore third baseman.

Consecutive singles with one out chased Linginfelter from the game in the top of the fourth. The Rebels went on to score another run later in the inning on Adams' sac fly to make it 5-0 before reliever Will Heflin got the Vols out of the inning.

A three-run seventh inning got the Vols right back in the game. Roma's chances of qualifying for the Champions League all but disappeared after drawing at Sassuolo 0-0 in Serie A on Saturday.

The result left Roma two points behind Atalanta, which occupies fourth spot and the final qualifying spot for Europe's top club competition.

A win for Atalanta at Italian champion Juventus on Sunday would end Roma's hopes of making the Champions League as there is only one round of Serie A left after this weekend.

Edin Dzeko and Justin Kluivert hit the woodwork for Roma, which also had a goal disallowed for offside.

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho may be sent out on loan ahead of the 2019/20 season in a bid to restore his lost confidence according to his manager Brendan Rodgers reports
