Tributes from fans and fellow entertainment stars are pouring in following the news that Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce has died aged 20.

The actor’s death was confirmed by his family on the evening of Saturday 6 July. The cause of death was announced as due to “an ongoing medical condition”.

The Edo State Government said its agricultural development in the state is a well thought out and elaborate plan across all value chains both in crop production and animal husbandry.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said the state government maintained that its agricultural plans have nothing to do with Ruga settlement, as these plans were developed long before Ruga settlement was hushed.

According to him, “In all the agricultural programmes being executed by the Obaseki administration, the safety, security and prosperity of our people are top priority and it is non-negotiable. We assure Edo people that Governor Obaseki will not cede their rights and land to anybody, as our programmes as a sovereign state do not run on the back of any external entity.”

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has denied that he and his party’s request to access the Independent National Electoral Commission’s server was turned down by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

In a statement by his media aide, Paul Ibe, on Tuesday, the former vice-president said the tribunal only ruled that granting them access to the server was not necessary in the preliminary stage of the proceedings.



Atiku was responding to a statement by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu hailing the tribunal’s ruling on his party’s request to access INEC’s server.

He said, “The celebration by the administration of General Buhari that their electoral heist has been covered is premature. Their giddiness has even blinded them to the eyewitness testimony in the multiple media interviews by Independent National Electoral Commission workers that there was indeed a server and that they actually submitted results and accreditation through it.

“In their rush to claim a pyrrhic victory, the General Buhari administration missed out on the fact that the 2019 budget has multiple line items for procurement, maintenance and service of the server they claim does not exist.”

ABUJA- The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has for the umpteenth time fingered the Presidency for blame in the alleged recent invasion of the Abuja residence of Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku.

The party which a few days ago, issued a statement calling on the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Abubakar to investigate the alleged invasion, yesterday, expressed dismay over the manner it claimed the police boss is handling the matter.

Addressing newsmen at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan said Nigerians are becoming increasingly suspicious of the motive behind the incident.

He said: “Nigerians can recall that in the wake of the attack, on June 11, 2019, allegedly led by one Police DSP, Edwin Oruakpa, the PDP charged the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, to immediately get to the root of the matter, expose the actual forces behind the invasion and their real intentions, as well as to bring all the culprits to book publicly.

“The PDP however states in clear terms that it is not satisfied with the manner with which the federal government is handling the issue. Already, the poor handling of the matter is now sparking off suspicions of a creepy ploy to suppress facts and divert public attention from the questions surrounding the unlawful assault.”

According to him, the invasion, “is a direct violation of the governor’s immunity under the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), prompting many Nigerians to point to no other motive other than a deliberate and calculated attempt to intimidate and hurt the person of the governor of Taraba state, Arc. Ishaku.

The Arsenal owner was the subject of a lawsuit over moving NFL team the Rams to Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Rams, the NFL franchise run by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, have been ordered to pay up to £18.8million ($24m) to supporters in St. Louis, the former home of the team.

Personal seat licence holders in St. Louis had filed a class action lawsuit against the Rams after purchasing the rights to their tickets at their stadium, known as The Dome, for 30 years.

The lawsuit called for seat licence holders to receive 30% of their original purchase price and a refund for the nine years in which the Rams did not play in St. Louis, as well as damages.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has deferred hearing on fundamental right enforcement suits filed by the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had filed the suits to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from re-opening investigation against him.

The suits were originally scheduled for hearing on Monday (today) but were however, adjourned till July 2 to await the outcome of a petition the EFCC lodged against Justice Taiwo Taiwo who is presiding over the matter.

The anti-graft agency had in a petition it sent to the Chief Judge of the High Court, Justice Abdul Abdul-Kafarati on May 21, accused Justice Taiwo of being biased against it.

In the letter that was personally signed by EFCC’s Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, the agency, decried that the Judge had on May 9 and 14, granted two different ex-parte orders that restrained it from continuing its investigations against both Saraki and the erstwhile governor of Imo State who is now in the Senate, Rochas Okorocha.

Consequently, the EFCC prayed the High Court CJ to transfer the two suits that were separately lodged by Saraki and Okorocha, to another Judge for hearing.

At the resumed proceeding on the case on Monday, Justice Taiwo adjourned the planned hearing to await the outcome of the petition against him.

The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, had through the Solicitor General of the Federation, Dayo Apata, filed a counter-affidavit for the suits to be dismissed as lacking in merit.

Similarly, counsel to the EFCC, Chile Okoroma, equally queried the competence of the suit, adding that the anti-graft agency had also filed processes to oppose it.

Justice Taiwo had directed all the parties to exchange filed processes to enable the court to proceed to full blown hearing of the matter, before the petition was entered against him.

Other respondents in the matter include the Department of State Services, the Inspector-General of Police, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, and the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair believes manager Maurizio Sarri's future should not depend on winning the Europa League.

Sarri's future at Chelsea remains unclear ahead of Wednesday's final against Arsenal in Baku.

The 60-year-old says he will speak to the Chelsea hierarchy after the game to find out "if they are happy with me or not", but Sinclair is in no doubt that the Italian has done a good job at Stamford Bridge.

"When you look at Sarri's remit this season, I think initially it would have been finish in a Champions League spot and then can you win some trophies," Sinclair, who represented the club between 1990 and 1998, said.

"I don't think we're going to be as strong next season as we were this year," Sinclair said.

"Potentially, Chelsea might have a dip for 18 months while we see out this ban.

"The transfer embargo might work in the favour of the youngsters at the club, and Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James have all done brilliantly out on loan in the Championship this season.

"But the step from doing well in the Championship to playing for a top-six team is a big ask for guys who are 18, 19 or 20.

"Add that to the real worry that Eden Hazard will leave this summer and it's going to be a tough job for whoever is the manager next season."
