Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 8:01pm On Jan 05, 2007
Its time we starting thinking outside the box and create a check and balance system for our leaders,

@Big B1 and ever1
We can make it happen
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 7:52pm On Jan 05, 2007
People i think we should be finding ways to make this idea possible, if we are hoping for a better Country, its not the ultimate solution, but its a step

Lets think about a way to get this going
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 10:38pm On Jan 03, 2007
I agree with you Mckren the media might be the only means, considering it will affect the lower and upper house. Or unless we can get EFCC to twist their arm

@mamajamma
what we are proposing is temporary, it should come with a condition say till we get off the top 50 most corrupt countries list, and should serve as a check for us that each time we fall back in that category it becomes effective again.
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 10:07pm On Jan 03, 2007
lol, i remember a one time Minister of Education having his kids schooling abroad, what incentive does he have to make sure the school systems are working intact.

@ Big B1
we might need to write editors of newspapers and see if they can publish an article concerning this, if this is passed we might start seeing people withdrawing from the race.

You know any other method to make this reach the National Assembly floor and considering it will affect them also

but i believe its our future this people are playing with, maybe a rally
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 8:13pm On Jan 03, 2007
Big B1
to include the clause in the condition of office will take effort, i can see people fighting against it. but i believe its worth a try

@ Mamajama

If you work in the private sector, stay there keep making your money, we encourage that, but if you want to be in the public sector you have to be ready for what it takes.

IBB, Adenuga, their day is still coming, unfortunately it seems like IBB might be after the good of the country, but with his history noone is ready to take the chance, and also enough of old military guys
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 6:53pm On Jan 03, 2007
@ AFAM

IBB did it back then, now imagine all LG chairmen, Governors, Senators, Legislators, doing it. only if you guys will see the state Nigeria is, not even to talk security wise, or healthcare or the sorry states of the schools. we dont have anything to lose with this. For once lets all work together and make something work

MAMAJAMA:

BS Dude, It's a free nation and democracy prevail, freedom of speech, religion and association, if you have money and you fill you need to contribute to the society why not come in and save the nation? Transparency or not, if you can afford a Benz why drive a pinto?

@ Mamajama

its about creating a system that works for Nigeria, its not the the ultimate solution but will take us a step closer. Currently now, political positions are too attractive, its about weeding out greedy people, and creating a way for people that are willing to sacrifice
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 6:42pm On Jan 03, 2007
Can someone pls say a disadvantage of including that in the conditions of office, i dont see any to the country, and mind you it can be a temporary clause, till things get better.

@ Kimba

Dont forget the state of our prisons, we first need to build more prisions, and make sure the public is aware of it, we have a long way my brother, in fact, all the ministeries in Nigeria should start working 24hrs to catch up for the years we have lost undecided

Foreign Affairs / Re: Saddam Hussein Is Dead by OLadi(m): 7:55pm On Jan 02, 2007
Yeah Saddam is dead, but we still have North Korea, other dictators around the world that in my opinion are worse and more dangerous than Saddam,

its like the whole world is a ticking time bomb, na wa o!, God Help us
Politics / Re: Who The Heck Is As Capable As Obasanjo? by OLadi(m): 7:51pm On Jan 02, 2007
Peter Odili will do far more than obasanjo, what Nigeria needs at this point is Construction. We need to build, build infrastructures, roads, improve hospitals, BUILD!!!, this in return will improve the economy, America did it to get out of depression. IT CAN WORK

ODILI is currently doing it in Rivers State. thats what we need.
Politics / Re: Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 7:19pm On Jan 02, 2007
I feel Nigeria's situation requires a radical approach, we need to create a system that will work for us, knowing the kind of people aspiring to become leaders. something needs to be done, to encourage only serious minded individuals

true i see people starting to claim family members as nieces or nephews tongue, but this will be a kind of check

I see it working tho, only for elected leaders not people appointed such as ministers that way, LG chairmen, Governors, Senators and co will know what they are going into.

All we need is the clause added to the consitution even if its till Nigeria is removed from the 50 most corrupt countries
Politics / Should Elected Leader's Immediate Family Be Allowed To Live Outside Nigeria? by OLadi(m): 6:53pm On Jan 01, 2007
Political Office holders immediate family should not be allowed to live outside Nigeria. This should be added to the conditions of office along with no foreign accounts and asset declaration. This will lead to efficiency and make the political offices less attractive to money hungry individuals.

what do you think??
Politics / Re: How We Can Make Nigeria A Great Nation In 2years: Contribute Positively by OLadi(m): 6:47pm On Jan 01, 2007
My Opinion might not be accepted by everyone, but for Nigeria to become a great nation again, we need dedicated leaders, and like someone said, make the political positions unattractive, and only vision oriented individuals will aspire such positions.

My first suggestion is all elected leaders or individuals occupying appointed positions, must not be allowed to have their immediate family living outside Nigeria, not even on vacations during their tenure. In return we will see advancement In Nigeria

Politics / A Prediction Says Yar'adua Will Spend 62 Days As President by OLadi(m): 5:06pm On Dec 31, 2006
THE man who predicted the death of ex-Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige as well as the outbreak of bird flu in the country, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has again made some predictions on the political situation in the country in 2007

In his predictions for the year 2007, Primate Ayodele said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer, Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua would not rule the country and if at all he did, he would only be in government for 62 days, adding that President Olusegun Obasanjo would not hand over power in May 2007

Politics / Re: President Of Nigeria In 2007: Who? <Poll> by OLadi(m): 5:03pm On Dec 31, 2006
i think Atiku would have better chances of winning, if he picked Odili as his running mate, with his wife a yoruba, and a running mate ibo, the combination would have been perfect,
but oh well, everyone get ready for a Yar'adua presidency
