this is a good project... other states in south west need to emulate this, lagos is crowded already. i see oyo state diversifying the economy a great deal. projects like this and the ongoing train station that would cut across lagos to moniya and omi in ibadan would open OYO state for business big time.

Politics / Ajimobi Revives Ibadan Circular Road Project, 15 Years After by Oladokun78: 2:46pm On Jun 15, 2017
Fifteen years after the idea was conceived, Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi will on Friday flag off the construction of Ibadan Circular Road to enhance the socio-economic development of the ancient city.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, disclosed this, on Wednesday.

The project, which was conceived by the administration of former Governor Lam Adesina, had suffered neglect and abandonment by successive administrations in the state.

Layinka said: ``In the pursuit of his administration’s agenda to transform Oyo into a modern state of his dream, Governor Abiola Ajimobi identified the socio-economic benefits of the circular road project to the state and has diligently pursued its manifestation.

``In realization of this vision, the state government signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the road through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with ENL Consortium Limited.

``The circular road, when completed, is expected to ease intra and inter-city traffic congestion, especially for Ibadan which is fast becoming an industrialized city under the current administration.
``The circular road will serve as a bye pass for inter-city traffic on routes outside Ibadan, while it will open a new economic corridor for controlled development in line with the Ibadan Master Plan.’’
Layinka added that the road would further enhance the socio-economic life and ultimately engender better standard of living of the people.
He said it would also boost trade and commerce, enhance revenue generation as well as create employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the state.
The Adesina administration had in 2002 constituted an inter-ministerial committee for the purpose of construction of the road.
The committee had proposed a survey design towards ascertaining the cost of the project for eventual award to a contractor, which was not implemented until the end of that regime.
The contract for the survey of the road was awarded in 2005 by Adesina’s successor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, while the engineering design was awarded in 2005 and concluded in 2007.
Although the contract for the construction of the road, which was divided into two phases, was awarded to two contractors by the regime, the project was later cancelled by the Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala administration on assumption of office.
For reasons not made public, the Alao-Akala administration substituted the project with new ones which the contractors were compelled to execute, having already been mobilized for the circular road.

Politics / Re: When Being A SAN Is Not Being Sound: The Femi Falana Story by Oladokun78: 6:22pm On Jun 13, 2017
as a student of lautech it bothers me that this strike has to take this long but as angry as i was before i think this strike has revealed a lot. just yesterday i heard that the audit revealed that the school had 97 accounts. whose idea was that? whoever it is, is the real cause of this problem. imagine if the country was not in recession and the state allocation for oyo had not dropped we would have never developed this. this leaves room for misappropriation of funds. then again the governor did not handle this well at the protest and that is why he is the face of this issue even though clearly he is the least to blame in the real sense. because yesterday it was revealed that osun has not been holding up to their own end with funding as they ought to concerning lautech. but who can blame osun state? when osun state is the most expensive state university. the university virtually runs without any major funding from the state hence the students have to pay large fees for a public school. which brings me back to this post. this is a perfect response. you can not mean well by quoting false statements and allegation. can this mean that a SAN can be so lazy as not to read the news or be informed about issues such as this. how can you not have your facts and figures out? it's amazing that this can only happen in Nigeria. everybody is lazy, this SAN goofed indeed. femi falani please if you want to fight for us. at least help us appeal if you cant even give us accurate information.

Politics / The Infrastructural Development Of Oyo State Must Be Sustained By Lakunmi Ajayi by Oladokun78: 5:46pm On Jun 13, 2017
_“I know the road to development and modernization is difficult; I know that it is long and I also know that the next stages will be even tougher and longer. But I have faith in God, I believe in my people, in the wisdom of our leadership and the future of our nation. I am confident we will realize our goals. Our vision is clear, our road is paved and the clock is ticking. There is no more time for hesitation and half-baked goals or solutions. Development is an ongoing process and the race for excellence has no finish line”_

These above, are the words of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, culled from his book titled, “My Vision: Challenges in the Race for Excellence”. And, these were the words that came to mind as I drove from the Akobo area of Ibadan, through Bashorun and Idi-ape, and towards Agodi-Gate over the past weekend.

The ongoing road construction and expansion along this whole axis struck a nerve of thought and led me to these pristine words above. I had always known that we needed more than profligate àmàlà politics to make Oyo state tow the path of excellence in all spheres of governance, in this case, in infrastructural development. How right I was!

As a resident Ibadan native and proud Oyo state indigene in his early 50s, I have served the privilege of seeing different administrations come and go with little or nothing to give in terms of infrastructural value into our state. Our state struggled and grappled with infrastructure, we lagged behind and that’s just the blunt truth.

Evidently, driving into Ibadan through our entry roads, or moving around major city centres, one was stung by a capital city gasping for aesthetic breath and an infrastructural upheaval. The infrastructural inertia we suffered became too obvious and it made our state a joke among the comity of states with similar expanse in human and physical resources. To most, Ibadan was the crude version of a mega city. It was an assertion that pained deeply, especially when our erstwhile regional leadership status was put in context.

For years, groups of indigent professionals in Oyo state, some of which I belong to, have silently clamored for a leadership that is a stray from the typical pedestrian one we were used to, all for the sake of getting a kind of developing city and state we can be proud of. We clamored for a leadership, a government, that would possess the parts to understand major elements for a progressive, pragmatic and pioneering approach towards infrastructural development. Well, judging from all that has happened so far till now, I believe we made the best collective decision as change-seeking Oyo state citizens at the polls six (6) years ago.

So far, the road network constructions have not just been beautifying, much more, they have been functional (literally), thus, boosting urban connectivity and creating a leeway for socioeconomic development too. The transformations in Challenge, Aleshinloye, Dugbe – Magazine – Eleyelehere, and the dualisation of entry roads have been impressive, but personally, the transformation of Iwo road and Mokola entered my books as major infrastructural feats of this administration, considering the paramount urban importance of these two spots. The truth is that most of these transformations are best appreciated in hindsight, and I can’t wait to see how this Akobo-Bashorun-Gate axis turns out post-transformation.

It is a known fact that the personal worth of any state government is the attainment of a qualitative level of infrastructural development, as it is a crucial aspect of the drive to self-reliance. The vibrancy and sustentation of growth of any state is directly proportional to its vault of infrastructure. This present state government understands this fact and are working by that standard, and this is why I celebrate.

Far from it, these thoughts of mine aren’t about hailing Governor Abiola Ajimobi at all, in fact, I could care less about that. Rather, my thoughts seek to appreciate the fact that someone we employed by ballot to perform is indeed performing as touching lifting the infrastructural status of our state; but most importantly, my thoughts hone on the plausibility of maintaining this pace after Ajimobi leaves office. It’s not yet Uhuru per se, and there’ll always be more to do. Therefore, what I seek with these words is insurance that we’d employ (elect) another cerebral leader who will understand the need to make Oyo state lead in terms of infrastructural advancement for development and make life much more livable here, come 2019.

That, irrespective of party or platform, we must identify and elect someone who will sustain these major strides of the incumbent administration, someone who will understand truly that indeed, “development is an ongoing process and the race for excellence has no finish line”, as the Dubai Sheikh opined in his book. This is key, and for our good and our children’s, we can’t afford to remain infrastructurally rusty anymore.

As I headed back home on that same road, my mind was cast back to Ajimobi’s inauguration speech 6 years ago, where he clearly identified his agenda as a “restoration, transformation and repositioning” one. It felt as if I heard him say those words again, as I could see what he meant by what I saw around, right there in that moment. Also, I couldn’t be happier to know that my age-long assertion, which says Oyo state would never grow with a leadership heavily skewed in prodigal allocation sharing and àmàlà towób’obè politics, was being confirmed right before my eyes.

Investment / Ajimobi Launch WAMCO Plant In Saki, low Income Gra,others In Oke Ogun,ago-amodu by Oladokun78: 1:21pm On Jun 09, 2017
To the delight of our people and through our government's commendable drive towards serious socioeconomic development, the FrieslandCampani [WAMCO] Milk Collection Centre was commissioned in Saki today. A total of 1, 720 indigent farmers, of whom 900 are women, will be empowered by this dairy development facility, and make them important members of our growing economy.

This Saki Milk Collection Centre launched today, added to other *9 major* agriculture-based developmental programmes of the Ajimobi-led Oyo state government [ which include, _the 250, 000 hectares of farmland spread across Oyo state in the Integrated Organic Agricultural farming programme, the MoU with Dangote Company for grand rice farming, the 320 Tractors purchased to support industrialized agriculture, the 10, 000 metric ton silo built for grain production and storage in Oyo, and 5 others_ ], all show that the determination to make Oyo state, in this particular case, Okeogun, a food basket of the nation, is gradually becoming a reality. Kí Òyó lè da.......
#AjimoseAgriculture

Apart from boosting our economy, creating jobs and engaging more indigent farmers, at LEAST, 10% of the raw dairy needs for nutritional milk production will be sourced from this first-of-its-kind Saki Milk Collection Centre, an average of 12, 000 litres of milk per day, and we intend to do more. Kò ní r'ẹ̀hìn o, l'ójú wa, Kò ní r'ẹ̀hìn o....

The welfare of our people remains topmost in the grand scheme of governance in the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led Oyo state government. To this end, the AJUMOSE FOOD BANK berthed successfully today at Saki, and it was met with broad smiles from the faces of our ever-supportive people of Saki.

The entire Oke-ogun has comparative advantage in arable land mass, but because our resolve to encourage even more of our people to get directly involved in Oyo state government's strides in agriculture in this area, we decided to set up this expansive AJUMOSE G.R.A in Saki, and it's open to all. The flag off today, was a success.
Kò ní r'ẹ̀hìn o, l'ójú wa, Kò ní r'ẹ̀hìn o.....

The 300-seater Computer Based Test (CBT) centre located in Ago-Amodu, Saki-East Local government, is the first in the Southwest, and the first local government-based CBT centre in Nigeria. While we celebrate this incidence of many firsts, we restate that the Oyo state government identifies ICT as a key component of its restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda, and we will keep supporting every project that will make our people and children survive the ongoing technological revolution in the world. We will also support the maintenance of this project for sustainability. Asíwájú ni wá!

you just calmed down and wrote total nonsense. now let's do a comparative analysis. the only thing the country makes money from is oil, basically. this has made us thrive as a nation despite the many lootings in the past. arab countries who don't have as much oil are more developed than we are. yes you can say obasanjo inherited a country in a bad state but what price was oil per barrel at the time. GEJ ran this country to the ground. Nigeria sold oil per barrel at over 100 dollars, there was demand. now that the oil market has crashed, there is no demand now the oil has fell to as low as 30 dollars per barrel when buhari came on board. now your reserve was left empty. debts piled up, contractors owed etc the safest way out would have been oil money but now it's crashed. tell me is that the same with obasanjo. oil boom compared with oil glot on a country that depends only on oil. bkool7:

Are you talking about why. some states are owing or why Nigeria is in a recession ?
If its recession , We all know why our currency is so weak and why we are in recession is that Nigeria is a consuming nation that doesn't much but only rely on crude oil as foriegn exchange earner .
So when the power to earn foriegn exchange is down to less than half , what follows is recession .
If this recession is avoidable , in 2014 the minister of finance won't. tell us to prepare for it.

premiumtimesng.com/business/171145-brace-tougher-times-ahead-okonjo-iweala-tells-nigerians.html

The govt was already in a recession when Buhari came but sadly he lacked the expert knowledge to make the citizens avoid it .

And Pdp replaces only governors that don't play ball. why wasn't Theodore Orji replaced . This new set of Pdp governors are only doing something because the party is in opposition and they want to please the people .

Its this recession that exposed the laxity of. our governors . Those sates that are not owing only faired because they have abundant resources

thank you o. tenure that was borrowing to clear loans. people are not free thinkers. how can you borrow to pay debt for years even when the country was making a lot from oil

U mean the same FG that was borrowing to pay its staff till the end of its tenure?
Politics / Re: Number Of Months Of Outstanding Salaries Owned By State Governments by Oladokun78: 1:11pm On Jun 07, 2017
no that is not true. obasanjo came in when there was an oil boom. do you know what that means? the price per barrel which is the only thing we have in nigeria was very huge at that time. now when buhari came in, everything has been looted, the country should have regained itself but guess what the oil market had crashed. countries producing oil have low demand and excess supply. oil per barrel fell as low as 30dollars per barrel. GEJ and Obasanjo enjoyed over 100dollars per barrel. so tell me, buhari and cbn suppose do magic abi?
iyrojc:

God bless you. Not only Yahaya Bello. Obaseki of Edo state with his record should not be Governor.
