He said I should write him and email explaining in detail about the visa delay then we can only try but no guarantee to see if momentum will forward the date.

hi guy,
Momentum will change the start date if your health insurance to the time you enter the republic. you only need to present the evidence to prove that ...e.g your visa. I have done that before.

To everyone waiting for study visa, I hope we get good responses quickly. I applied on the 8th of March and this is my 10th week too. I' plan to visit the VFS office today or tomorrow to get any explanation. I also emailed the Consular General yesterday but no reply yet. I pray it will end in praise.

Please can you help me with consular general's email?

I have tried all the numbers on their website and no success. My wife also submitted for study visa on the 8th of March and no response till date. Thanks.

DoubleGiant:

is working in south Africa which a study visa restricted?.. as in, a particular number of hours, or one is free to work as he pleases as long as he has the job..??

Hi,
With south africa study permit you can work for maximum of 20 hours per week (i.e 80 hour per month). You supervisor, department, faculty or any other unit within the school can give you assignment within this number of hours. you can as well take up any part-time job outside the school. You are legally covered.

Hope your question is answered.

Someone should kindly help in this.

I applied for my study (PhD) visa in Jan. 2019 but when it came out this April, I was given only 10 months. This is because my passport will be expiring in Mar. 2020.
I called an immigration Officer and I was told I won't be able to do any passport renewal since it is not up to 6 months before the passport expiry date.

My question is:
Can I actually renew my passport before I leave for SA
Also, like how much is it to renew my passport in SA, and where in SA?
Also, like how much is it to renew my visa in SA, and where in SA?

Please, anyone that know what I can do...

First, I can tell you that you can renew your passport in Nigeria even if you still have more than six months on it. Probably you did not meet the right officer. I have renewed a passport that was having like one year and few months on it before. It will only cost you more, say like 45k or more.

So, if you renew your passport before traveling, your old passport pages will be cancelled but the visa page will still be valid.

However, you can also renew your pasport in SA. But I think it is easier in Nigeria. I am not sure of the exact cost of passport renewal in SA, but i think it is around 2000 Rand. Depending on where you are in SA, you may still need to fly to J'bourg for the renewal if you are in SA, though I learnt they now process it in Cape Town too but not sure of that yet.

Good luck.

My medical insurance is from January to December, 2019. However, I wont be entering South Africa until next month due to visa delay and some personal issues.

What can I do to extend my cover from the period of my arrival (May, 2019 to April 2020) or it is not possible?

Hi, You can change the start time of your medical insurance to the time you arrive in South aAfrica. All you need to do is to send mail to the medical insurance provider (e.g Momentum) to explain yourself and provide the evidence to back up your claims. For example, you may need to show the entry stamp on your visa and probably the evidence of first registration with your school. You just need to proof that you just arrived the republic.
When you send them the mail they will tell you if they need any other thing. But they will definately change the date for you. At least I know that of 'Momentum'.
