Ten members of the Islamist militant
group Boko Haram have been executed
by firing squad in Chad.
It comes a day after they were found
guilty of terror charges at a trial in the
capital N'Djamena.
Security sources said they were shot at
a firing range north of the capital.
All 10 were convicted over their roles in
twin attacks on the capital in June,
which killed at least 38. A month after
the attack, Chad reintroduced the death
penalty for acts of terror.
"They were shot this morning at the
Massaguet firing range," a source told
Reuters news agency, referring to a city
about 60km (40 miles) north-east of
N'Djamena.
Among those to die was Mahamat
Mustapha, aka Bana Fanaye, who had
been described as the "mastermind" of
June's attacks.
A school and a police building in the
capital were targeted by suicide
bombers on motorcycles, leaving more
than 100 people injured in addition to
the dead.
Those attacks were followed by a blast
at a market in the capital in July, which
killed 15 people.
The attacks were the first by the
Nigerian-based group in Chad, which
hosts the headquarters of a regional
force set up to fight the militants.
The 10 were found guilty of charges
including criminal conspiracy, killings,
wilful destruction with explosives,
fraud, illegal possessions of arms and
ammunition, and using psychotropic
substances, according to chief
prosecutor Bruno Mahouli Louapambe,
quoted in AFP news agency.
Chad has been instrumental in helping
Nigeria retake most of the areas Boko
Haram had seized.
The jihadists, who want to create their
own Islamic caliphate in Nigeria, have
killed thousands and forced millions to
flee their homes in the country's north-
east Nigeria since 2009.
The militant group had previously
threatened to attack Chad, after it sent
troops to help Nigeria recapture territory
from them, mostly in Borno state.
Following the bombings, Chad banned
people from wearing the full-face veil.
But its attempts to crack down on
terrorism have attracted criticism from
opposition and civil liberties groups
who fear it could be used to curb civil
rights.

Palpable tension has enveloped the border town of Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State over the alleged invasion of 16 villages by the authorities of Benin Republic.
Already, the authorities of the neighbouring country have gone ahead to construct Gerdarmes Office (Police station) in the affected Nigerian communities and also hoist their national flag at the affected Nigeria villages.
The development, according to THISDAY investigations, has disregarded the boundary delimitation of 1914 between Britain and France which the two countries had respected.
The affected Nigerian villages, according to THISDAY checks, include‎ Ogomne, Bwin, Gandasunon, Kpuru and Woru Wuren Kparu.
Others are Ajuba,1, Ajuba 2, Saka Yeruman Kparu,Monta, Dotin Kparu,Halidun Kparu, Yakubun Kparu, Sonsi,Gunosani, Alhaji Kparu,Yodo Mankparu and Simen Kparu.
It was learnt that the development has also led the Okuta Emirate Council to order the people of Yakparu axis to dismantle of the Beninoire flag hoisted at Nigerian villages and the flag is currently at the custody of the emirate council in the town.

Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has finally told his own side of the story regarding the issues he had with goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, which saw Enyeama leaving the camp in Belgium yesterday Oct. 8th and quitting the team. In an interview with NFF’s media officer, Oluwatoyin Ibitoye, Oliseh said
“Its puzzling really because to say the least I am very hurt, I am very disappointed at the character assassination that Vincent has taken on my personality as regards this issue. If you want to retire, retire. You don’t have to drag and lie and insult somebody who did nothing. I will take you down to when this thing happened. We called everybody to camp We invited 24 players and most of the players, infact even Mikel came in on SundayNight. He was supposed to be here on Mondaywhich was very good. and most of the players came in on Mondaybut I knew Vincent had gone for the burial ceremony of his mum, that he might come in late. He came into camp on Tuesdayafternoon by 5.20 or 5.30, just as the training was almost over he drove in from the airport and there are even pictures that we snapped of me hugging him because I was happy to see him back in camp. But when we trained that Tuesdayafternoon, I wasn’t happy with the physical involvement and input of my players so we had dinner and I spoke to the players and made it clear to them that I wasn’t happy and that I needed an improvement for us to play more as a team and that we deserved better and I could see the body language of the players that they were very receptive and were conscious of what it was. Only for me at the end of my speech for me to go to my seat to sit down, was for Vincent to stand up to say he wanted to say something and I told him, look this is not the time to say anything because we just had a discussion about how to improve, we will discuss personal issues after. At one point I told him, its either you stop this now or you can go back home and when he continued I gave him a handshake and told him Now you can go home. I have released you. You just came in, you have not even trained and you are already looking for an argument or problem and so I told him go home. because he had not even had any training session. So I went to my room and 5 of his colleagues Mikel, Emenike, Musa, Onazi and Echejile, came to me and said coach we have spoken to him and he is aware. We know he sometimes he talks before he thinks. I said okay he can stay, we are trying to build a team, you can stay. The next morning he came, everything was settled, we ate breakfast. As we were about to go for training, I received a message from back home where Vincent had insinuated publicly that I had insulted the memory of his mother when I spoke to the team and this was really hurtful and a blatant lie and I find it quite, with all due respect, insane because you can’t make an accusation, a false accusation when there are so many witnesses as much as 19 players, 3 other officials and there was no reason to talk about your mum because you were just coming into camp. There was nothing to talk about you. So to now try to make a character assassination and try to like make the people sympathize with the fact that he was mistreated against his mum. He was the captain of this team. When we played in Tanzania, I called the team administrator, Dayo, and we had arranged for the team to wear a black band and to have one minute of silence before we play in Tanzania in honor of Vincent’s dead mum.
