According to the bible Adam is 7,000 years old. However, archeological evidence proves that people have been living in igbo land for at least 6,000 BC, which is about 10,000–8,000 years ago. Do your own research and do the maths.

Politics / Jonathan’s Loyalists Suggested Military Coup After Buhari’s Victory by olawrites4(m): 3:37pm On Nov 23, 2017
It has emerged that some of the hardcore supporters of former President Goodluck wanted a military coup to prevent Muhammadu Buhari from assuming power.

After Jonathan had conceded the election to Buhari, it was suggested at one of the crisis meetings that the military should stage a coup — in which case neither Jonathan nor Buhari would be in power.

There were fears then that Buhari would launch a vendetta campaign against those who offended him during electioneering.

But the suggestion was shot down by an unnamed person who said it was too late in the day, pointing out that it would have been more plausible before the election was held at all.

These are some of the revelations in a new book, ‘On a Platter of Gold: How Jonathan Won and Lost Nigeria’, written by Bolaji Abdullahi.

The book will go on sale nationwide from November 30, 2017, after the launch.

In the advance copy made available to TheCable, the author said everyone who heard the audio of Jonathan’s telephone conversation with Buhari breathed a sigh of relief that the president found it in himself to take the road that had been so less traveled on the continent of Africa.

However, he wrote, “many in President Jonathan’s circles were still convinced that he had moved too quickly to congratulate Buhari. As they saw it, he should have tarried a while and possibly consulted more. In spite of what had happened however, it was still possible to salvage something. Jonathan’s call had more or less shut the door on everything. However, so long as Buhari had not been sworn in, there would still be cracks that sheer grit and guile could blow wide open.

“Another meeting was quickly summoned. Again, the idea of military takeover was mooted. The two most senior military officers at the meeting held to deliberate on this however advised that it was too late in the day. The ideal moment would have been before the six weeks postponement. If they had taken over at the time, they would have sacked (INEC chairman Attahiru) Jega as part of the military intervention and announced a new date for the election.

“While they might not be able to keep Jonathan in power, they would have been able to guarantee that Buhari would not be president. As things stood, no one would be able to withstand the bloodletting that could follow a military takeover after a clear winner had emerged.”

PDP chiefs later held a meeting where it was decided that Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, who was then the national chairman, should issue a statement rejecting the outcome of the election and that the party would head for the tribunal.

But Mu’azu declined after the statement was drafted, saying: “I am not a bastard. I have honour to protect. The man who contested the election had conceded defeat. I should now be the one to say that the party would not accept defeat? When the candidate was picking his phone to congratulate the winner, did he consult with the party?”

Politics / JUST IN: Millions Of Foreign, Local Currency Stashed In Home Of Judges, DSS Say by olawrites4(m): 6:03pm On Oct 08, 2016
The Department of State Services (DSS) Saturday shed more light on the reasons behind the raid on the homes of some judges across the country.

In a press conference in Abuja the DSS's, Garba Abdullah, said it was due to corruption allegation levied against them.

“The action is in line with its core mandate, as we have been monitoring the expensive and luxurious lifestyle of some of the judges as well as complaints from the concerned public over judgment obtained fraudulently and on the basis amounts of money paid.

“The judges involved were invited, upon which due diligence was exhibited and their premises searched. The searches have uncovered huge raw cash of various denominations, local and foreign currencies, with real estate worth several millions of naira and documents affirming unholy acts by these judges.”

“In one of the states where the operations were conducted, credible intelligence revealed that the Judge had Two Million United States Dollars ($2,000,000 USD) stashed in his house.

“When he was approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the state governor, mobilised thugs against the Service team.

“The team restrained itself in the face of unbridled provocative activities by those brought in by the governor. Unfortunately, the judge and the governor also engaged the tacit support of a sister security agency.

“The Service surveillance team noticed that upon frustrating the operation, the judge with the active support of the governor craftily moved the money to an unknown location which the Service is currently making effort to unravel.”

Meanwhile, he said large amount including foreign/local currencies had been recovered.

He gave the summaries of these to include: N93,558,000.00, $530,087, £25,970 and €5,680 (euro).

He said other foreign currencies were also recovered, but didn’t give details.

The DSS also refused to answer questions from journalists and neither gave details of where the currency was recovered and from whom.

Politics / Re: Sorry Lagos, You Don't Have Oil By Ade Damola by olawrites4(m): 3:59pm On Sep 19, 2016
davodyguy:
so?

This is just semntics by Damola.

The exploration has begun and crude oil is being extracted and exported, with income being generated.

I'm not sure Lagos borders any of the NG states that would make them wants to lay claim to the other part of the water ways, where the oil can be explored.

All waters ways still belong to the FG.

Some people might misinterpret this, as if there was no discovery.

Get it. There was discovery in the water close to Lagos and as of now, Lagos State has be allocated ownership status of 4 oil wells.

Whether the 200 isobath was fraudulently introduced by OBJ or not, Lagos is now controlled by the party at the centre. With Fashola, Tinubu and Ambode, its only a matter of time, before the 2004 pact is reviewed for the benefit of all.

May be this is the only opportunity for that restructuring to take place. This means more money to the oil producing states. However, the negative part of this possible review is that the governors would probably still cheat the indigenes of the states. Even with 2004 pact, Lucky Igbenedon, James Ibori and Peter Odili, still stole billions from their states. Giving more money to their cronies in government now may spell doom for the people. With the FG having the money, you are guaranteed a good spread.

This is the most intelligent comment so far about this topic. Lagos has the political capacity to make it possible to benefit from the oil, the rest is history. But when this kind of move benefits the Niger delta states also, will their leaders use the money to develop their land the way it is been done in Lagos? Only time will tell. By the way nice write up @Damola, you inspire me. This is the kind of stuff we should be doing on Nairaland, and not pictures of naked actresses everywhere.

TV/Movies / The Five Biggest Mistakes Upcoming Nollywood Actors Make by olawrites4(m): 9:50am On Jan 31, 2015
Nollywood provides outstanding opportunity for anyone with real acting talents to actualize their dreams. But the reality is that, the atmosphere provides you with opportunity; that can either make you great or destroy you. This happens when new actors get on set and start making terrible mistakes, thereby exposing their weaknesses and flaws. If you don’t want your acting career to be dead on arrival, then you need to do things right. Here are the five biggest mistakes new actors make and how to avoid them.

YOU’RE JUST TOO ARROGANT
This happens mostly to actors who already have a strong relationship with a very important crew member, like the executive producer or the producer. So when they get on set, they look down on everyone and start claiming ‘star’. While this might seems like a cool thing, it will definitely set the motion for your career downfall. There is nothing that kills an actor’s career faster than a bad attitude.

YOU THINK YOU ALREADY KNOW EVERYTHING
Movie directors like to give instructions upon instructions to ensure that actors stick to the script and/or reflect exactly on their visual preference. New actors find it a bit odd to be pushed here and there, thereby getting in the way of the director or crew members. This is even more common with the actors who already have a solid career in stage or theater acting. As a new actor you need to listen more than you talk. It is called humility.

Not understanding the script
Script interpretation is the first step towards understanding your character. And when you understand you character, you’re on your way towards delivering a great performance. Most new actors, especially the untrained ones, will usually assume that they know what a movie script is all about. Until you ask them to deliver a line and they start reading the action along with the dialogue. If you don’t understand the script or your character, let the director know. It is better than pushing yourself into an avoidable embarrassment.

ACTING DOESN’T REQUIRE TRAINING
Nothing in this world that doesn’t require one form of training or the other. Even operating your new smartphone may take days or even months of learning. You need to train yourself in multiple ways including; reading articles, watching movies, asking questions and relating with other actors.

NOT STAYING IN CONTACT
No actor can ever make it without the help of other individuals in the movie industry. When you go on set, it is most relevant that you collect contact numbers of your fellow actors and other crew members. And when you do, don’t just remain there, make sure that you message them once in a while just to keep you in their minds.
There are many other mistakes new nollywood actors make but this is absolutely the biggest ones. The bottom line is, you need to keep your ego in check and be professional. Understand that the film industry strives by the principles of relationships. The better the relationship you build with people, the better your chances of becoming exactly what you want to be.

Agriculture / Cassava Product And Its Nutritional Health Benefits by olawrites4(m): 6:50pm On Nov 07, 2014
For many years, cassava product like garri and fufu has served as a healthy choice of food for many peoples, especially Nigerians. However, many people do not know about any health benefits they can derive from consuming this very popular source of food. In this article, you’ll be learning about health benefits and nutritional component of cassava and the many products that come from it.

FIBER
By far, cassava has one of the highest amount of fiber compared to other sources of food you can find. This means that eating cassava can help your digestion, burn fat and give you more energy. High fiber foods are also known to make you get full very quickly and help reduce the risk of obesity. The fiber is cassava can also help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, as well as help you control your blood sugar.

LOW FAT
Foods that contain a high amount of trans fats can put you at risk of many health issues including heart problems, strokes and hypertension. One way to fight this is to eat foods like cassava, which has very low fat. In addition to that, cassava also has a higher amount of protein when compared to other tropical foods like potatoes and yam. Also, cassava is free of gluten, which makes it an excellent choice for food preparation meant for people with celiac disease.

VITAMIN A
Recently, the Nigerian government released a type of cassava known as ‘yellow cassava’ that contains vitamin A. this means that consuming cassava product made from yellow cassava has very high health benefits including good eye sight. This type of cassava will be very useful for the rural communities that have very limited access to food supplements or artificial nutritional drugs.

MANY OTHER VITAMINS AND MINERALS
Apart from vitamin A, cassava also contains moderate amount of vitamin B, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, folates and pyridoxine. In addition to that, it also contains minerals like manganese, iron, and zinc.

COPPER AND MAGNESIUM
Cassava has a very high amount of copper and magnesium minerals. Consuming food high in magnesium helps to promote a healthy long life, by reducing your risk of contracting osteoporosis and at the same time lowering your blood pressure. While consuming a good amount of copper will help a functional and healthy nervous system.

TIPS ON CONSUMING CASSAVA
Like any type of food, it is necessary that you know what is in it before you start chewing it. One thing you must know is that cassava, in its raw form, contains Cyanogenic Glucosides, which is regarded as very toxic for the human body. This is why you need to cook or roast cassava before consuming it; because these processes help neutralize the chemicals so it can be safe for human consumption.
You can boil cassava in water or roast it after adding a little amount of olive oil. Northerners have a delicacy of boiled cassava and salted pepper we all have been used to, which is a fantastic food. In the east, people boil peeled cassava and eat it with coconut, which is by far the most delicious combination.

Agriculture / Uses Of Cassava Product In Developed Countries by olawrites4(m): 5:19pm On Oct 26, 2014
In Europe, America and recently Asia, cassava product has become of high demand. Why is this? Because they are needed extensively in the industries. Quite a number of products in your home and kitchen would not have been possible without cassava. And recent scientific discoveries have shown that cassava can be used to replace so many chemical alternatives in order to make the world a better and greener place. This is why it is time you should consider starting a cassava export business as Nigeria is the largest producer of cassava in the world - over 10 million metric tonnes strong. Here are three major ways developed countries make use of cassava.

ADHESIVES
Most of the things we use in our homes and office like furniture and paper where made in small bits and then merged together. Many of the industries in developed countries like the US and UK make use of cassava starch to produce adhesives that are used in paper, corrugated cardboard, furniture, and plastic industries. Adhesives are also used in the making of re-moistening gums for postage stamps and envelopes. In the metal making industry, starch is used as an adhesive for binding sand grains.

LIVESTOCK FEEDS
Animals and livestock are important to the world ecosystem and feeding. They produce milk, meat, wool and other essentials we humans can’t do without. Animal breeders in Europe and America make use of cassava products like flakes, pellets, chips, cubes and flours to feed their farm animal in order to get top yield. This is because these cassava products are cheap and deliver good results at the end of the farming period. This is why cassava product from Nigeria have become of high demands for farmers in countries like Germany, France, US, UK and the Netherlands.

FOOD INDUSTRY
The food industry in the industrialized world cannot do without cassava. As populations begin to explode, there is need to produce quality and affordable food. This is why the world is now focusing on acquiring the Nigerian cassava because it is cheap, in large quantity and very effective. Cassava product is used in the European and American food industry for the making of composite flour which is used in the making of bread and other products originally manufactured from wheat.

Cassava is also used in the making of glucose and alcohol which are an essential commodity in many industries from pharmaceuticals to food canning. Cassava product is also very useful in the confectioneries for the making of a large variety of food items including ice cream, jelly beans, jams, sweets and gums. Recently, many fruit juice manufacturers are now beginning to replace sucrose with dextrose, which is a product of cassava. The latter is preferred to the former due to the absence of the dangerous sulfur-dioxide, and because it helps preserve the original flavor of the fruit and reduces the tendency of it becoming crystallized into sugar.
Cassava product is also used to produce caramel which is used as coloring agent in food, confectioneries and liquor; because it is cheaper than other alternatives and provides greater coloration.

contact email: olameji83@hotmail.com for more details if you're interested in the business of exporting cassava to Europe and make huge income.

thanks.
