Health / A Car OR A New Specialized Bicycle? Which Is More Beneficial Within Lagos. by oluwoleaiyela: 2:37pm On Feb 23, 2013
The concept of riding a bicycle from your house to work or distances not so far from home is culturally shocking to many Lagosians but facts reveal why a paradigm shift is imperative. The life expectancy for the average Nigerian is now at an abyssmal 43, meaning when you're 43 in Nigeria, you're old enough to be dead due to health reasons. Not sad?. Well, China with a population of over a billion got to our population about 2 decades back and have been riding bicycles ever since. Though they smoke a lot and have other life-threatening habits, their life expectancy stands at over 80. They live longer! Why? They cycle a lot, eat little or no salt or sweetners, and a lot of fish.

Original bicycles are not easy to find in Nigeria. Even the ones sold in the shopping malls dont have good life spans because they are not sold by a specialty retail centre where quality assurance or control is central and after sales services are life-changing.

In Lagos, traffic has worsened in recent times? Cars are very important, yes, but to complement them, more people are beginning to cycle. What does a bicycle do to your heart that a car cant? What does a bicycle do to your purse that a car cant? Have you given a thought to how much you expend on fuel annually? What does a bicycle do to your the length of your life that a car can't? Anyone? A Car or a New Specialized Bicycle?
