TV/Movies / 10 New TV Shows You Just Have To See This Year by Omachi006(f): 12:21pm On Jan 12, 2018
2018 promises to be an amazing year for movies, TV series, and so much more. I’ve put together 10 TV shows that you should know about and see this 2018. Fine, we agree that 2017 was a year for amazing TV shows and there will be returning favorites like ‘Jessica Jones’ (Season 2), Daredevil (Season 3), but honestly, I’ve got a good feeling about these new TV shows and I think you will love them.

From “The Chi” to “The Alienist” and more, here are 10 new TV shows you just have to see this year;

“The Resident”
“The Resident” centers on an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine.

Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.

Premiere Date: January 21, 2018.

“The Chi”
Fresh off her Emmy win for writing an innovative episode of “Master of None,” Lena returns with a new TV show.

With “The Chi,” Waithe tells the story of life in a particular neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago.

Premiere Date: January 7, 2018.

“9-1-1”

A Ryan Murphy procedural drama which boasts actors such as TV veterans Angela Bassett, Connie Britton and Peter Krause isn’t one to miss, or at least, give a chance.

The series which follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders: cops, paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers.

Premiere Date: January 3, 2018.

“The Alienist”

Based on the novel of same name by Caleb Carr, crime reporter, John Moore, meets with psychologist, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, to investigate a serial killer in New York during the late 19th century.

“Good Girls”

In “Good Girls,” three suburban mothers suddenly find themselves in desperate circumstances and decide to stop playing it safe and risk everything to take their power back.

Premiere Date: February 26, 2018.

“Black Lightning”
Jefferson Pierce, who retired from his superhero persona Black Lightning nine years ago after seeing the effects it had on his family, is forced to become a vigilante again when the rise of a local gang leads to increased crime and corruption in his community.

It is based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

Premiere Date: January 16, 2018.

“Altered Carbon”

“Altered Carbon” is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness “re-sleeved” into new bodies.

Premiere Date: on Netflix in February 2, 2018.

“Grown-ish”
Zoey Johnson from “Black-ish” is getting her own spinoff. The series follows Zoey as she heads off to college and begins her journey to adulthood but quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest.
Premiere Date: January 3, 2018.

“Sharp Objects”

It tells the story of Camille Preaker, a reporter recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital. She returns to her hometown, trying to solve the murder of two young girls, all the while trying to overcome her own psychological problems.

A miniseries starring Amy Adams and based on Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name, “Sharp Objects” is scheduled to debut on HBO.

Premiere Date: in the summer of 2018.

“The Looming Tower”
Tracing the rising threat of Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, “The Looming Tower” takes a controversial look at how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI inadvertently might have set the stage for the tragedy of 9/11 and the war in Iraq.

Nairaland / General / Singer, Davido Acts In New Nollywood Movie. by Omachi006(f): 10:38am On Jan 08, 2018
Award-winning singer, Davido, has made his acting debut in Nollywood with a yet-to-be released film titled “The Legend At 60”.

In a sneak preview shared on his Instagram page earlier today, Davido was seen playing the role of a highly skilled commercial pilot.

Another Nigerian singer that starred in the movie is Majek Fashek, whose music career Davido’s character tries to revive.

From the brief preview, it is too early to say if Davido made a good impression still, we’d be keeping our fingers crossed till when the movie is finally released.

Other singers who have branched into Nollywood include Banky W, Ikechukwu, Vector and 2Baba; who knows, we may begin to see more star singers try their skills on acting.

Romance / 5 Types Of Women Guys Avoid Like Ebola by Omachi006(f): 2:57pm On Dec 23, 2017
I will start this piece assuming that my words can be retracted, as I am a firm believer in the FACT that experience and environment change people. We might try to deny it but the truth is that we conform when we find ourselves alienated from our immediate society.

Now that that disclaimer is out, let me proceed by informing you, from a homely lady’s standpoint and you may choose to challenge it, what kinds of ladies guys avoid like ebola.

#1. The Homely Girl.

Surprised? Well, I was too. Personally I was confronted with the many facts that met me as a homely “new wife”. With my very modest and conservative upbringing, I’ve had to adjust to the many habits of a more exposed and experience partner. Nay, I’ve evolved. Some positives abide, however. The activities of “the other room” have blossomed.

#2. The Office Raccoon.
Forgive my description, but many-a-wives detest this menacing office flirt, with talons for nails and red rose lipstick that bare semblance of her last kill. Charming is her way but score is always her game. She is always sure to find the shortest distance between men; A straight unabashed line.

#3. The Career Woman.
Here, I stand to be corrected. For a woman must learn to hold her own when men fear her magnificence. But power, they say, is addictive and blinds you to the empathy that comes with love. #GirlPower by the way!

#4. The Ex.
There was a reason why you left her in the first place. Not much to that.

#5. The Nag.

Like a leaking roof she will drive you mad, slowly ebb away your zest for life and ware your spirit. Some men are driven to succeed to satiate her needs, placate her with the fine things of life, but no sooner do they find solace in the bosoms of another. I know this one story where he even found fulfillment… in another man.

Wouldn’t you like to hear that story? But oh, look! My 300 words are up.

Crime / “Don’t Accept Wrapped Gifts From Strangers” – Commissioner Of Police Says by Omachi006(f): 2:43pm On Dec 23, 2017
The Commissioner of Police in Niger, Mr Dibal Yakadi, on Saturday advised Nigerians against accepting wrapped gifts from strangers during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Yakadi, who gave the advice in Minna in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said such gifts could turn out to be parcel bombs and be dangerous if opened.

He also urged the people to be security conscious, especially while attending public functions during and after festivities.

He disclosed that the command had already taken proactive security measures to deal with threats to peace before, during and after the Yuletide.

‘‘We will continue to utilise the avenues of intelligence-led policing, community, visibility policing as well as constant intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts,’’ he said.

He called on residents to provide useful information on suspicious movements of people, saying this would assist security officials to apprehend criminals at the planning stages of their activities.

“We are battle ready to deal with any form of security threats to enable people celebrate the festivities in a peaceful atmosphere,’’ he said.

He urged officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as hard working ones would be rewarded, while the indolent personnel would be sanctioned accordingly.

So this is a real story;

A woman got married recently and everything was good. On her wedding night, her husband woke up, washed his feet inside a bowl and asked her to drink it. The woman refused and they both argued. The husband relented for a while. The next day, he woke up, washed his feet inside a bowl and asked his wife to drink it.

When she refused, her husband said he wanted a divorce and left the house. She's afraid now and scared that she's ruined her marriage because she didn't obey her husband.

If you were in her shoes, would you drink dirty feet water for love? Just to keep your relationship or marriage?

What advice would you give to this woman? And any other woman in her shoes out there?

i am sorry to say that, if your husband/wife asks you to do ANYTHING that is against your own belief, then YOU should seek a divorce, and go on being happily single (rather than miserable in marriage). anybody who thinks that marriage is about satisfying all your partner's evil/abnormal desires in silence, is deluded.

if a person asks you to drink the dirty water from their feet then its obvious that A) your partner is MAD, B) you need to get the hell outta that union, but most importantly C) that person does NOT love or care for you (or your wellbeing).

Hmmm...

I really don't get why Nigeria girls cook for their boyfriends when they visit? I mean, it is his house and you're his guest so he should be the one cooking and serving, after all there's no guarantee that you have a future with him.

LOL. They don't see it like that. Some women just like taking care of their men. wink

I've been in a relationship for 4 years now. I cook for him whenever I go to visit him at his place. When I serve him food, he will eat, drink water and go watch TV. But he never says if the food is good or bad. He just eats, eats and eat.

The thing has been making me feel somehow but I'm afraid he'll break up with me if I talk to him about it. He just keeps quiet and stares at me like I've grown 2 heads when I tell him about "small stuff" like this.

What should I do? How do I tell him how I feel without getting him angry?
