It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of USAID, an institution that once stood as a beacon of hope and partnership in global development. It died on February 1, 2025 from mortal wounds delivered by Executive Orders and State Department actions. Born in 1961 under President John F. Kennedy's administration, USAID was conceived with the noble aim of promoting and supporting economic and social development worldwide. For over six decades, USAID has been a pioneer in the fight against poverty, fostering sustainable development, and advancing democracy and health across the globe. However, ill health in the past two weeks precipitated its quick death. The unexpected freeze of its funding on January 20th marked the beginning of a startling decline. A financial paralysis occurred on January 27th, crippling ongoing projects and stalling crucial aid to countless communities worldwide that depended on its support. Confirmation of its untimely demise today include: - USAID.gov website going offline - USAID payment system going offline - Removal of USAID seals from its DC headquarters - Its sublimation into U.S. Department of State These actions reflect more than just administrative changes; they represent a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy and its commitment to international development. The repercussions of this shift will be felt by millions around the world who benefited from USAID's programs and initiatives, which have historically exemplified American generosity and solidarity. As we mourn USAID's passing, it's crucial to remember the profound impact that USAID has had in shaping better futures. From fighting HIV/AIDS and famine to empowering women and building capacities in emerging markets, USAID's contributions have left indelible marks. Though today marks the end of an era, let us also honor the legacy of USAID by continuing to champion the values it upheld. In its memory, may we strive to live up to its enduring vision of a more prosperous and just world for all in whatever efforts, actions, and careers we take on.

phr0nesis: ETH is 1 Carabao, 1 FA. Since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, Manchester United has won a total of 6 major trophies: 1 FA Cup 2 League Cups 1 Europa League 2 Community Shield In contrast, Arsenal has secured four major trophies during the same period: 4 FA Cups Therefore, the statement that Manchester United has won only four trophies while Arsenal has won eight since Ferguson's resignation is incorrect. 1 Like |

LocalFARMERS: Qur'an 83 has an answer to this: In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Woe to those who give less [than due], Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. Do they not think that they will be resurrected For a tremendous Day – The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 32 Likes 5 Shares |

It's already Day 2 out of the 10 days earmarked for the "#endbadgovernanceinNigeria" nationwide protest and it's gathering momentum each passing day. Of course, this has affected the economy that is already in a vey precarious state. Now, the big question is: when will the President address the Nation and consider some of the demands that brought about this protest? The major demand is the reversal of some policies that have brought this economic hardship - Fuel Subsidy. It's not a rocket science that this can be looked into by the President and readjusted to allow for a possible win-win situation. It's not a gainsay that the removal of subsidy brought about food scarcity and hunger. Many people are stranded in various states as a result of this protest and economic activities are grounded. Banks, offices and markets remain under lock and key. I don't think a responsible government will allow this protest to go beyond today. Things are already in a bad state in the country. Mr. President needs to address the Nation over the weekend and accedes to some of the demands. This protest needs not extend to next week. |

NLCreator: This is surely avoidable! A simple smart "suit" would have prevented this! But for these people, it just have to be "Agbada" all the time. It's obvious he stepped on his over-bloated/over-sized Agbada. I remember it also happened in Kaduna during the campaign meeting/town hall last year. |

Almiron: So when is Manchester United going to close the wide gap between it and Manchester City?? At the moment, the gap is like heaven and earth!!! Just so you know, since that last time in 2013 that United won the league to date, City has always finished ahead on United on the league table!! They have just rivaled United in winning the treble, have broken other records that united held for many years!!! United used to have a distinct and wide gap between it and city years ago but that has since gone!! Where did we get it wrong ![]() 3 Likes |
