Celebrities / How Mr Macaroni Is Changing The Face Of Comedy Industry And Pushing Other Talent by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 10:41pm On Jul 18, 2021 |
If you are a Nigerian, especially a youth, chances are you have probably heard of a sensational online comedian called Mr Macaroni also known as “Daddy Wa or Freaky Freaky.” He practically blew even before he observed the mandatory NYSC. There is no doubt that Mr Macaroni is a combination of talents that shines beyond his cocoon. As a young creative myself, I am overwhelmed by the creativity and hard work Mr Macaroni puts into the content he dishes out to his fans and by extension the world over. What most of his fans see is the finished work, beneath those content that cracks your ribs are hours of staying awake, thoughts, testing and failures. If you are keen on knowing the hard work behind the scenes, check the bloopers. But there is one secret I noticed about the personality of Mr Macaroni that has endeared me to him. Mr Macaroni has brought a couple of underdog creatives into the online comedy industry. Thankfully, a number of them have gone on to establish themselves and sealing their place in the hearts of their fans. To give you a brief of how Mr Macaroni has helped and is helping nurture other talents, it is necessary to mention their names. Mummy Wa Kemi Ikuseedun, popularly called “Mummy Wa” is one of the talents Mr Macaroni has helped to find their voice and creativity in the comedy industry. The busty actress broke into the limelight playing the role of a fictional wife of Mr Macaroni. In an interview conducted by the PUNCH, she said “Initially, I acted as one of the girls (freaky freaky) in the skits. But, there was a day I was doing my thing as Kemz Mama in the ‘Mummy wa’ outfit and he (Adebayo) saw me and asked me to try out the role of his wife. I was very surprised when he called me for the shoot. He said he wanted that particular costume and character. And, the rest, as they say, is history.” She further revealed that she often got naughty requests from male fans. She said, “When I started, I did not get naughty requests because a lot of people didn’t know I was the one playing those roles. They just could not place it. However, I have recently been getting many naughty requests from male fans.” You might get lost in the euphoria thinking Mummy Wa is in a love relationship with MR Macaroni. But the truth is nothing of such exists. It is only a figment of your imagination and every scene you see the two comic actors performed are strictly fictional. Isbae U One of the biggest beneficiaries of the generosity of Mr. Macarani is ”Isbae U.” Born in Lagos in the mid-90s to a Nollywood veteran named Kamal Adebayo, one could not be mistaken if it is declared that the talent runs in the family. It would interest you that the now lovable, Isbae U started out as a musician with a number of singles to his credit. He later took after his father by picking up acting and storming the Nollywood industry. As time goes on, Isbae U switched gears to comedy appearing on Mr Macaroni’s comedy skit. After several appearances on Mr Macaroni’s skit, Isbae U now has tons of fans and a YouTube channel dedicated to his body of works. As of the time of writing this article, Isbae U has a total number of 38.3k subscribers on his YouTube channel with thousands of views on the comedy skits he does just within hours. His Instagram handle stands at420k followers. The most interesting part of Isbae U is that he is in a relationship with “Mummy Wa.” On how long this love affair would last is not the focus of the article. Brother Shaggi/ Officer Woos Wobi To make a detour, I also want to mention how Broda Shaggi has done the same thing Mr Macaroni did for Isbae U, Mummy Wa for Officer Woos Wobi. It beats my imagination how these crops of talents create a lifeline for others to grow into a brand of their own. Today, Officer Woos Wobi is doing quite well with a huge number of following and views of his comedy skits on his YouTube page and other social media platforms. To bring this article home, I dare say that creatives in other industries should begin to take partnership seriously just like the characters discussed above have done. How about the ones that have reportedly “blown” pick up the one’s that are still struggling? Who do you think will benefit in the long run? Do you think Mr Macaroni shot himself in the leg by helping Isbae U and Mummy Wa? Can you say that Mr Macaroni has been the greatest beneficiary of the help he rendered to the aforementioned folks? Whatever your answer is, try to read this again carefully so you can arrive at a reasonable conclusion. There is a need for you to employ the use of logic and burn out all the noise around you. Do you know that there is a company now called Mr Macaroni Entertainment Limited? A few months ago, I saw a vacancy for a content writing position that was opened at the company. I was amazed at how this amazing act is making people laugh and creating opportunities for other creatives at the same time. It is a matter of factly, that the man called Mr Macaroni is just getting started as he has just made a foray into the Nollywood industry with a debut in AYINLA produced and directed by veteran Tunde Kilani. I must state that Mr Macaroni has been acting in Nollywood Tv drama for years now, but his stars shone after he entered the online comedy industry. I would love to hear from you, kindly drop your comment below as I will be reading them and replying as well.

NYSC / The Servitude Called N.y.s.c by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 8:39am On Nov 21, 2018 |
In submission I yield to the clarion call, You clothed me in drills and labour The rigour of my slave masters- Soldiers,Camp Commandant,Plantoon oficers Made me self-service in regret. I was issued a meal ticket Fed with malnourished ingredients The type that will wake up corpses Using their artery and vein Like Jesus did during his sojourn on earth My wings was beehived of activities; Teaching,Smoking and Vex-ing. I took solace in the body of village girls Randomly occupying the boreholes under their legs. What a pity ! I took revenge on the village girls. I Agonize that I spent my strength unavainlgly, Like birds beating their wings, Against the bars of a cage of freedom. I was greeted with a paper in return My name was penned on it It looks like a certificate It signifies my freedom From the cage of modern slavery. I took it with mixed feelings Danced away my sorrow into the winds Of happiness, freedom and prospect. Even the musicians dropped their instruments To applaud.

Literature / The Rise Of Nigerian Writers And Poets by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 5:13am On Nov 21, 2018 |
The plethora of writers and poets in Nigeria is growing on a large scale. This revelation is good not just for the aforementioned, but also for the country in general. Recently there was a call from a literary group in Ghana for submission of poems with the theme "Bodies and Scars." I was one of those poets who submitted their works, although the final shortlist is not out yet. But in the mail I received I was made to know that the highest entries came from Nigerians as against Ghanians or any other african countries. If this does not pass a message to you then What will? There are hundreds, if not thousands of budding Nigerian writers who are daily seeking for platforms to share their creative works for the world to see. But it is sad to know that these writers have either been tagged as Facebook or internet writers who have no real bearing and has nothing to show other than the likes and comments they get on Facebook. But as a writer, if what you are looking for is quick fame, money and accolades, you can as well change your profession. Maybe writing is not for you. First of all, writing is a passion that requires a lot of sacrifices. Any time a writer writes, his creativity comes alive. But credit must be given to all the budding Nigerian writers and poets who are working tirelessly to produce reasonable, valuable and impactful contents for the world to consume. There will be a lot of discouragement, especially in a country like ours that does not celebrate writers and poets, but you must keep moving, keep reading, keep writing and keep promoting your works.

Celebrities / Ty Bello's Song 'cold' : A Reflection Of What We Have Become by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 11:10am On Nov 17, 2018 |
TY BELLO's SONG 'COLD' : A REFLECTION OF WHAT WE HAVE BECOME I had always admired this particular Woman not just because she is a singer, but because of the depth in all her songs. She is an accomplished photographer that sees through the eyes of lens. She single-handedly changed the story of the bread seller, Olajumoke years ago. I remember one of her songs which was a celebration of the late Octogenarian, Mama Ekundayo. She went on to showcase the beautiful aspect of motherhood, and how Mama Ekundayo raised kids in their hundreds that were not even hers. You can rarely find such noble actions in this society that is fast becoming selfish. That was the length TY-Bello would go to tell the world stories of happenings in our society. Her music and videos are backed up with research and when the lyrics are broken down into lines, you must definitely feel the impact and get lost when trying to find yourself. From the LAND IS GREEN, which took Nigerians by storm to EKUNDAYO, JESUS JESU and now COLD. I had downloaded this COLD months ago, before I finished service but I just did not have time to listen to it. So today while I was looking for a music to listen to that will ignite my muse and make me write better, I stumbled on "Cold" by TY-Bello. This particular song "Cold" called on the sleeping Soldiers ( not just the Soldiers, but the Citizens also) to wake up to their responsibilities. The songs shares what is now fast trending in our society, everyman for himself, we are all trying to make money, jostle for power, have fun and make love here and there. That we even forgot that there are wars going on in the North East, the Fulani Herdsmen killing in the Middle-Belt, while hundreds of IPOB memebers have been killed and arrested by the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police. "Give us heart and flesh O God, a true burning for men O God." This line will touch you, that is if you still have conscience, it is a plea to God to give us heart and flesh to be able to see the sufferings of people around us. Nigeria and Nigerians are increasingly becoming selfish, as long as their immediate family is doing great, the rest can go to hell. How are we going to move forward with this kind of attitude ? Our Politicians grew up with this mentality, that is why I don't blame them when they get there, all they do is amass wealth and steal funds that even their unborn generations cannot finish. Did you know that your Politicians, after leaving office go with different packages which includes ; houses, cars, drivers, cooks and so on ? Now I can confirm to you that it is true. Have you ever asked yourself why your present Governors picked up their parties tickets to run for the National Assembly ? If they succeed, they will be collecting lifetime benefits that I listed above and they would still be collecting the other one as a Senator even after their exit from the National Assembly. "Have mercy Lord, we are cold, we've turn away from the crying, we've turn away from the dying. So we run, run after money, we run run, run after power." Yes in the West here, and every other parts of Nigeria that are free from attacks by these demon blood-sucking terrorist and killers. We have turned away from the sad realiites that the inhabitants of those in these precarious situation. Indeed I have listened to many people saying that it is the North that is killing themselves to get Power, that may be true and it may also be false. What about those innocents that were massacred in a Catholic church in Benue ? What about those in the IDP camps scattered across different parts of Nigeria ? What about those kids who did not have the means to go to school in your own locality ? What about those kids that ordinarily should be in School and not in the streets hawking ? What have you done to help the situation ? What about those poor women who toil daily to make a living ? How about those boys and girls of tomorrow who don't know where their next meal will come from ? How about you lending a helping hand to that blind man that needs to cross to the other side of the road ? How about you checking on your loved ones that you've never called in a year, months and days ? How about you give a smile to that little employee working with you ? Nigeria is currently ranked the poverty capital in the world, but automobiles are daily filling our streets. Who bought and keeps buying them ? Have you ever visited big eateries like SHOPRITE, KFC, MR BiGGS and so on and see the population that throng their buildings everyday ? Where do they get the money ? Are we truly poor as a Nation ? Are we truly poor as a people ? Now do not get me wrong, I am not saying that you should not spend your money, you earn it, so you should spend it. But at the same time, also remember the people in your environment who needs help. Maybe not money sometimes, maybe a counselling would do. There are foreign men and women who would leave their comfort zone to Nigeria to help educate our youths, teach children, give them scholarships, help in cases of disasters. But it saddens my heart that Nigerians claim to be religious but in the true sense of it all, they are Godless. Some of these whites don't even believe in God, but they are ready to help, even to sell their house to make sure their neighbours, not just their neighbours are alive and well. But look at our very religious Nigerians, look at the Churches, Mosques Pastors and Imams, what do you see ? If we are going to build a sustainable economy, if we are going to have relative peace, we must start investing in the people. If we don't, these forgotten souls will one day raise an army of killers against us. TY-Bello song "Cold" is what we all need to listen to, and re-evaluate our lives, change our mindset about Money, about wealth and life in general.

Literature / Boys Do Not Let The Street Define You by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 11:03am On Nov 17, 2018 |
BOYS DO NOT LET THE STREET DEFINE YOU In the heart of Computer Village, I see boys trading their future with drugs, alcohol and frivolities. Some of them do not have plans for their lives, their own is just to eat today and tomorrow as they say will take care of itself. So last Friday I got talking with one of them, he boasted of how many girls he had dated and slept with in Computer Village, as if it were a competition. In my mind, I was like what is wrong with this one ? Are you telling me that is your main focus in life ?? And is that the reason you came to Computer Village ? Computer Village is such a place that you can easily get influenced by peers and groups. If you are not aware of the largest Computer market in Africa, then you should probably make out time to visit there. After the close hour is when, the 'Street Boys and Girls' take the centre stage. With fornications, smoke of Cigarettes, Igbo, Codeine, Alomo and so on renting the air like a balloon. Majority of boys think for you to be called a Street inclined boys, you have to conform to the the popular belief held by majority of people. The ordinary boy you find on the street smokes, drinks heavily and spends lavishly on women Sometimes we let the street define who we are. I had a conversation with a boy last Friday, he clearly told me that Yahoo Yahoo is the next big thing he will do after completing his training in Computer Village. I shrugged him off, but later I got worried on why such a young boy is already contemplating Yahoo-Yahoo and what possibly could have informed his decision. I remembered vividly in one of JOHN OBIDI'S post on YAHOO-YAHOO. He made it succinctly clear that the fact that every other person is doing it and making money does not make it right. And that dumb excuse most gives that they are recovering the money taken away by whites from their Great-Grand Fathers and so on is not tenable. Why should you make others cry by playing tricks to make them cough out their hard earned money ?? The way the guy was talking to me, he must have been planning to learn the stuff. In addition to that I also met a guy that left Lagos to Ibadan just to learn another aspect of YAHOO-YAHOO. All in the bid to scam people. Well the most interesting thing about this whole drama is that most of them spend the money on cars, clothes and girls. Since they did not work hard for the money, they spend it recklessly. I know you might be saying they worked for it, but if you were in their shoes, can you boldly tell your family, can you come out in public to tell us what you do for a living ? The Street is such that if you do not learn to master yourself and know who you are, what you represent. The street will define who you are for you, either consciously out of desperation or unconsciously out of dilemma and indecision. There are so many boys that never smoked before they got in there, but few months and years down the line they got lost in the razzmatazz. I still see boys that were on the street without owning a shop or store four years ago, they are still doing the same thing all over. They believe selling fake phones and snatching people's phones is the right way to make it big. But they were mistaken, that is not the right source. And when they get frustrated, they find comfort in the bossoms of drugs, drinks and women. Just last week one of them were caught after collecting money from another boy who I think is also desperate to turn the money in his hands into double. If you have ever been to the Awolowo section of Computer Village, you would have seen guys gathered together playing cards, that is where they initiate this scam. They can also approach you on the road, that is another method. Those boys collected the real money, up to N30,000 from him and gave him paper carefully arranged like real money. They had left before the young boy realised they gave him papers as money. As luck would have it, the next day the boy that was duped recognised one of the scammers, he immediately raised the alarm. The scammer was apprehended and taken to the police station. Computer Village is like a University, people come and go and that is why the Government deemed it fit to have a police post dedicated to the Affairs of the market. Computer Village is a land that gives equal opportunities to every and any person, irrespective of your tribe, education, Religion or social status in life. If you know what you are doing, it is only a matter of time, your dreams will come through. Just like dreams come through here, crime is also on the increase. What boys need to learn is the "Secret Of The Street." When you know these secrets then you can be sure to always be yourself and never let the Street define who you are. These secrets are not different from any other ladder successful people follow. For you to be successful, you must find a need and fulfil those needs. To your success, I penned this. #Boy-ChildAdvocate #Boy-Childmovement 3 Likes

Literature / Boys No Matter The Pressure Just Be Yourself by Omotoyorsii1993(m): 10:52am On Nov 17, 2018 |
BOYS NO MATTER THE PRESSURE JUST BE YOURSELF The Late Martin Luther king once suggested some of the things that should be in one's life's blueprints. "The first according to him is the deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth and your own Sumbodiness. He further stated that you should not allow anybody to make you feel that you are nobody. Always feel that you count, that you have worth and that your life has ultimate significance." The society we live in today has suddenly turned to the oppressor that makes boys turn against their once held dear beliefs. These pressures comes in from different angles. It could be peer pressure, pressure from family, religious organisation and so on. Taking it from the friends angle, some of your friends might be doing well more than you. Some of them might be driving in flashy and expensive cars and you easily feel dejected that you are still behind. But life is a journey that requires process, that state you are in now is the process. Those friends that you envy are in their own process, so keep to your own watch as that is what tells your time. Parental pressure can be frustrating to the extent that if you are not careful, you might eventually hate your parents. The pressure usually starts from educational accomplishments. Your grades might be poor and not encouraging, parents usually compare their kids to other kids, and that is the height of madness. (No apology.) Then the comparison begins and you start doubting yourself, your abilities to outshine your past grades, break the old records and set new ones. Some boys were not lucky enough to escape that condition. They eventually lost focus and since that day, they never liked anything about themselves and even accepted to be behind the scene. They lost their self-confidence. Boys like that that gave me the momentum to support the Boy-Child movement. I have many reasons why I have pitched my tent with the movement. Compare the number of Boys that have gone astray to their counterparts. If you are in the South-West, there are many young boys in motor parks that I see everyday smoking and drinking, this I find very degrading to the Boy-Child. Boys also deserves all the necessary attentions given to the Girl-Child as well. Our Mothers take their time to prepare a Girl-Child to be responsible so they can marry a good husband. Eventually the Boy-Child that you neglected might eventually turn out to be the Man that will marry that girl. If we both trained the Boy-Child and Girl-Child to be responsible and caring, the rate of sexual abuse and violence will reduce. Let me leave you with this. "Whenever you teach your boys not to rape, also teach the Girl-Child not to rape boys also." Together we can make the world a better place for the Boy-Child. Boys I wrote this just for you to become the better version of yourselves. 1 Like 1 Share
