is there a word count?

No, really. But it should be long enough to satisfy a curious reader, say, a thousand words and above. We simply want it to be with graceful words, nuances.

Art, Graphics & Video / Looking For A Motivated Video Editor by Onalow: 9:37am On Jan 16, 2021
I need the services of a video editor to add life to some of our videos. Your job will be to take a voice-over and script, then find related images and clips to support the video.

I require that you speak and understand the Igbo language, we'll be using a lot of Igbo words in the videos and some of the videos will be completely done in Igbo. I would also want you to be creative and not be confined to my descriptions.

Interested? Send a Whatsapp message to...

Thank you.
Crime / Re: Woman Arrested In New York City After She Spat O A Police Officer’s Face (VIdeo) by Onalow: 1:56pm On Nov 05, 2020
That's terrible; wonder what gave her the nerves? She probably wouldn't try that in Nigeria.

Literature / Re: A Review Of "Zikora" By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie by Onalow: 5:12pm On Nov 02, 2020
I see the book sparking up conversations around these issues of abortion, parental responsibility, mother-daughter relationship, among others.

I like Adichie for always addressing social issues in her works... For Zikora, I wish the story was longer.

Nice review anyway. Do note that Zikora had a son who rested calmly on the arms of HIS grandmother.

Politics / Re: How Security Agents Hunting For IPOB Killed Unarmed People In Enugu - PUNCH by Onalow: 1:33pm On Aug 28, 2020
Dickeyrider:

Why is ipob fighting for a biafra that will never come? So many generations of igbos have wasted their existence on the illusion of biafra yet igbos till today are proudly Nigerians. I don't blame the government, Ipob needs to be wiped like cockroaches

The problem is that some of us find pleasure in justifying the unjustifiable. Did you read the part of the story where it was clearly stated that these young men had no Biafran insignia on them? Neither were their clothes sewn to Biafran colors. Did you also notice that the police had visited this same location several times to monitor their activities? Is is unlawful to learn martial arts in Nigeria?

Now, even if they were members of the proscribed IPOB, is it rational or constitutional to shoot at them? What is wrong with rounding them up, and prosecuting them according to the existing laws of the country?

You don't need to be Igbo or a member of IPOB to see the truth and identify with it.

Finally...
The fight for the independent republic of Biafra has been an age long struggle. We see intellectuals like Chinua Achebe in their prime through their literary prowess express solidarity for the cause which further helped to publicise the movement. This particular book by Achebe posits an interesting narrative. However I am of the opinion that Nigeria is better been United as one

Yes, Nigeria has a large economic and socio-political potential based on her vast population. However, it seems 'we' have a penchant for sweeping issues under the carpet. We should be concerned about what led to the agitation for Biafra, has it been addressed? What are 'Biafrans' asking for? But no, it has always been an effort towards silencing the entire thing. Wonder why we never learned anything about the war in school, do we even still have history as a subject in secondary schools?

So, Nigeria may be better united, but not with preponderance given to one or two regions.

Good luck!

Really? So you know Bigard?

Well, pretense is part of the journey. Show who u truly are, and get expelled. You have to pretend you are assimilating formation if you must remain in the four walls of that school.

God bless mother Bigard whose breast I suckled!

Yea
I immediately felt you were there when you mentioned the 2015 magazine where your poem was published.
