I don't get it,I thought they said they are trying to reduce the excess money in circulation so as to curb inflation. They keep hiking interest rates to achieve that.

And now they come out to say they are trying to ensure enough cash in circulation.

I don't understand. No wonder kperogi called cardoso an "Airhead"
why anyone even believe what they are saying ? as far as I can see they are just trying to balance the books , they have been over printing naira since and are just telling us now

Cash that will still end up hoarded...

In a few people's accounts!
The question we should even be asking is that I,is it the new currency or the old one that will be printed and why have they stopped printing 50 ,and 100 naira notes ? CBN has virtually stopped printed smaller denominations like 10,20 and 50 naira even 100 naira
Business / Dangote To Establish Family Office In Dubai by onatisi(m): 9:02am On Sep 25
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest individual, is preparing to open a family office in Dubai, joining a growing number of high-net-worth individuals leveraging the city’s status as a global financial centre.

This move highlights Dubai’s increasing allure as a hub for wealth management and investment diversification, driven by its business-friendly environment and favourable tax policies.

Dangote, whose net worth stands at $13.2 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, ranks as the 168th richest person gl

The Nigerian billionaire has built his fortune through a diversified portfolio in commodities such as cement, sugar, and flour. Most recently, his business ventures expanded into energy, with the launch of his $20 billion oil refinery in Lagos, the largest in Africa.

This strategic relocation reflects a broader trend among ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) seeking stable, low-tax jurisdictions to manage their wealth. Dubai, known for its regulatory flexibility and geographic advantage as a gateway between East and West, has become a prime destination for family offices and financial operations in recent years.

Regional Trend Among Africa’s Billionaires
Dangote’s move mirrors a recent trend among Africa’s wealthiest figures, such as Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris, who also moved his family office to Abu Dhabi. Sawiris, with a net worth of $7.6 billion, has re-domiciled his NNS Group in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the emirate’s financial hub. This shift aligns with the growing appeal of the Gulf region for major investors seeking international diversification.

Dubai’s Rising Appeal

The growing influx of global billionaires into Dubai is largely driven by the city’s attractive tax regime and investor-friendly policies. The emirate has emerged as a preferred location for businesses and UHNWIs to safeguard and grow their wealth, capitalising on the Middle East’s evolving financial landscape

Dangote’s decision is also seen as a response to the increasingly challenging economic environment in Nigeria. His refinery project, a massive $20 billion investment, has faced multiple setbacks due to delays and regulatory hurdles. The Nigerian economy, plagued by uncertainty, has pushed many of its wealthiest individuals to seek more stable environments for business and investment.

As Dangote transitions his wealth management operations to Dubai, the move underscores the increasing shift of capital from Africa’s largest economy to the Middle East. With Dubai’s family office sector rapidly growing, the city is poised to further solidify its reputation as a leading global financial hub for UHNWIs.

Lolz ,join yeye protest where the organisers will run and hide on protest day or even travel to USA . The rich people among the protesters when arrested will be freed and not charged to court, the ordinary citizens will be taken to prison and spend months in detention while the organisers of the ame protest goes behind and collect money from government.

Those arreated during the last protest are still in jail, surely they won't come out until January.
Before you join any protest better think twice .

so simple, the only reason he may be focused on the Naija market is that he has seen a loophole he can exploit to make more money because i don't see the reason why he should keep on complaining. Many African countries will be willing to buy from him

Politics / Re: Edo Governorship Election 2024: Reasons Why Obaseki/PDP Was Voted Out. by onatisi(m): 10:15am On Sep 23
one thing i can deduce from this write-up and one reason why 2027 may not be different from the 2023 general elections is that tinubu and APC will keep winning and cashing out political electoral victories is due to the recurring mistake of the opposition parties
you don't go into an election against a formidable party structure with all needed resources and incumbent power with a divided front or party. the only way to defeat an incumbent party is to present a formidable force where all parties unite as one voice
PDP tried it in the 2023 presidential elections, they lost and now they have repeated the same mistake again in edo state

Mrdellychy:
In my own opinion, technically, people of Edo did not vote in APC or Monday Okpebholo rather, they technically voted against Godwin Obaseki the incumbent Governor. These are my views/reasons..

1. Obaseki alleged interference with the highly revered Benin "Obaship" structure. Benin no be kano where they unbundled Emirate.

2. Victimisation of his former deputy, Philip Shuaibu, despite the court ruling reinstating him yet, he refused to honour the court judgement. No matter the offense of Shuaibu, he should have forgiven him considering the first impression/loyalty that people say it lasts longer... Shuaibu stood by him and even defected to PDP with him when his political ship was sinking. Most people never believed Shuaibu could take side against his mentor -Oshiomole.

3. Adams Oshiomole's influence. Like him or hate him? Adams still remains a heavy weight in Edo politics. A former governor and an Incumbent senator that controls one-third of Edo political region/space

Feel free to add yours.

It is in their DNA , the same with alll women all over the world . The moment you give a woman freedom ,financial power and backup with legal powers , you will see the true nature of them . The women that you see that are well behaved ,rich are those in societies or environments that men are ranked higher or given more powers than women. This same issue is happening in UK ,Germany and many Westen nations where women are given legal backup to do anyhow and still be protected by the law

Business / Re: 0.005%: CBN To Reintroduce Cybersecurity Levy On Electronic Transactions by onatisi(m): 9:50am On Sep 19
FreeStuffsNG:
The fee has been reduced very very significantly from 0.5% to 0.005% (almost zero percent!) in order not to throw away the baby with the bath water and help FG deliver on the purpose meant for the fund.

0.005% on N100k (one hundred thousand naira) for example is a paltry N5 (five naira) and N50 charge on N1 million naira so it makes absolute sense, low and fair enough in my opinion. Most transactions of the poor range between N1k and N100k so the highest a poor person will pay as cybercrime fee is N5 and lowest is 5 kobo!

There's so much at risk so there must be deliberate effort to sustain the security architecture around this crime.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

it is good but it is a game, the first part of the game is to get Nigerians to accept the idea and see it as nothing, the reason for the low rate, i am very sure many won't even talk about it , but once they get people to accept it , believe me the next will be constant increment .

Politics / Re: Weir.d Thing I Noticed About People Living In Lagos by onatisi(m): 8:59am On Sep 19
DonXavi:
I traveled to Nigeria and stayed in Lagos for two weeks, and there's a funny culture I observed there that is not common to every other place. In Lagos almost everybody is a beggar. Even if you ask a person for direction, after directing you, he is expecting you to give him something. It was really weird for me to see adults begging anyhow, it's really shameful. I gave some money to this guy that begged me money, this guy actually did nothing for me, but do you know that this guy was bold enough to tell me that the money I gave him was small, that it cannot even buy him a plate of food. This happened more than three times with different people. Even in the hotel where I lodged, people there will be looking at you as if you owe them something.
This is more like a general Naija issue oo. Even in Oyo State ,I think. All major cities . I don't think it is like that in the rural areas but in almost all major cities and towns in Naija that is the syndrome. Once you have something and they feel or see you as ok, they will tax you or ask you for money

you overthink too much of Nigerians, even if tinubu contests today, you will be surprised to see millions following him even without collecting a dime. Don't mind all the crying and shoutings they are doing now, when it is election time, majority of Nigerian voters lock their brains up in a cupboard and only follow the rice and naira

We need another set of Dangote to take hold step in owning a refinery.

Forget about government refinery (pH, Warri) .

According to GlobalData, who tracks and profiles more than 1,400 refineries worldwide, the integrated cracking refinery will be owned by BUA Group, with operations expected to start in 2025

Nigerian government will never learn. Even if fuel price comes back to 700, the price of things that went up with it will never come down again. Don't wait till things spoil before trying to fix it
Prices of goods will fall but not immediately. It will take some time for everything to adjust and come back to normal . It will take time but eventually it will happen
