Nigeria’s senate has labelled as illegal the Post UME tests carried out by Nigerian universities and have begun moves to scrap it.

Nigeria’s upper legislature has described as “illegal” the post University Matriculation Examination conducted by Universities nationwide.

At the plenary session on Thursday, a motion by Senator Heineken Lokpobiri prompted the Senate to commission its Committee on Education to undertake a comprehensive investigation into the activities of those universities who indulge in such illegality.

The School of Basic and Remedial Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Funtua wishes to invite candidates that have applied for admission into 2011/2012 academic session for Basic Programme (IJMB) and Remedial Programme to a mandatory Pre-Admission Screening Exercise schedules as follows:

1. PRE-ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE FOR BASIC (IJMB) PROGRAMME:

a. Requirements Candidates applying for this programme must have at least five (5) credits including English and Mathematics and with any of the following combinations:

BS1: Biology, Chemistry, Physics;

BS2: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics;

BS3: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics;

BS4: Chemistry, Geography, Physics; BS5: Mathematics, Geography, Physics.
