Keballl: That's not factual; If Buhari is selable, Shekarau/Kwnkwaso are more than selable. The key to defeating Buhari is stripping him of the votes in one of the population centers in the North. I.e Kano or Kaduna. |

Stop over-hyping this man. He may have done well in Gombe, but is certainly sure to get trounced by Buhari in the North, even the North East where he originates from. Note that the largest voting bloc in the NE lies in Borno State where Buhari's reputation is at an all time high, so I really can't see how Dankwambo expects to gain further inroads there. If Buhari is on the ballot, only a candidate from Kano has what it takes to send him back to Daura. |
Politics / Re: 2019: Kano Could Have A Shock In Store For Buhari by OnucheAdams: 2:44pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
Obasanjo was an establishment carried everyone along, including the opposition which was why he lasted two terms. Yaradua on the other hand marginalized a section of the elites and we all know how he ended up. Jonathan turned his Govt into an Ijaw affair, and the rest they say is history. Buhari on the other hand has not only run a sectional Government, but has also alienated a core group of individuals responsible for his success at the polls -- the elites. I don't know how he intends to succeed, but it's getting clearer by the day that the elites, politicians and Nigerians are tired of having the likes of Maman Daura shape the Country's agenda. My prediction is that Buhari may not even make it past the APC Primaries.... |

transformed: Well don't rule out the option of a Southern Candidate, being paired up with a candidate from the BB, especially if the likes of Kwankwaso decide to contest on a different platform. |
Politics / Re: 2019: The Case For Governor Dankwambo by OnucheAdams: 9:05pm On Jan 01, 2018 |
Ratello: Indeed, Dankwambo may appear to be more competent than Buhari, but certainly lacks the political gravitas to challenge him at the polls. What's required to defeat Buhari is a someone with populist credentials for one of his strongholds of Kano/Kaduna. Note that the existing pattern is as such that potential winners of the Presidential Election must win 2 out of the 3 big States of Kano, Lagos and Rivers. As things stand, Buhari will be happy to concede Rivers; Lagos is 50/50; while Kano is Buhari's version of Rivers. However, if you throw in a Kwankwaso/Shekarau, Buhari in my opinion is toast.... 1 Like |

bigpicture001: Why waste your time educating these chaps? Anyone giving Buhari credit for taking us out of recession doesn't have a clear understand of how we got into it in the first place. But for his silly actions within his first 6 months in office, we would have experienced a scale down in economic activities, but certainly not to the level of getting into a depression... 1 Like |

Jaideyone: No way; as at the time Jonathan handed over, the IMF was estimating that despite the drop in oil prices, the Naira would have held forth at circa 300/usd. The spike to 500 was due to heightened uncertainty brought about by policy seesaw, made worse by the actions of currency speculators. |

Jaideyone: I was - and is still - an advocate for floating the Naira. Had Buhari towed that path, the Naira certainly wouldn't have ballooned to 500, and would have found its level at circa 300. The spike in exchange rate was due to the heightened uncertainty brought about by inconsistent Government policies, which further created room for speculators... The amounts spent subsidizing the Dollar should have gone towards building sustainable infrastructure.... 3 Likes 1 Share |

What's the correlation between foreign reserves and development, if any? You claim to have a stash of funds in reserves, yet you are embarking on mindless borrowing to fund infrastructure in tandem with unneeded FOREX subsidies; who's fooling who here? 12 Likes 1 Share |
