Programming / Re: Any Tecnical Difference B/w A Software Engineers And Developers by Onyebuenyim: 2:51pm On Sep 08, 2019
I believe they are the same thing, the major difference is that a software engineer is a professional software developer, he or she knows the ethics and official stages of programming but a software developer is anyone that can code.
People don't really know that there is an official and right way of writing code so it will be presentable and readable to people, a software engineer know how to write this kind of code but a developer might have learnt coding in his room and writes rough code, this code will work but its not ethically written.

I have a question for my fellow nairalanders, if a PBS dependant visa is issued, is it a must that the dependants will travel with me (the main applicant) or can she travel on a later date, she was given normal 1 month entry clearance like me with the same valid dates ? thanks

How long does it take to process a tier 4 dependent visa? Has anyone here processed this before? Any idea anyone, please? My family is expected to join me.
processing for my wife but her application has been with UKVI for up to 20 working days now, I don't understand the delay.. Tier 4 dependant should take the normal waiting time for any other Visa application.

I want to appeal to us to lessen the attacks and threats. I dont get to read comments like this on other forums. Let us argue constructively and provide proofs where possible. For those that have power to withdraw other people privileges, lets not scare people away from voicing their mind. We all learn by speaking out.

I have taken my time to read the whole question and solutions proferred from the moment it came up. I am yet to see anything wrong with the op going ahead to submit his application as long as the statement is not older than 31 days and the balance didnt drop below the mark for the 28 days. I have read the whole tier 4 guidelines, i am yet to see where it is written that the money must be in your account after the 28 days. I stand to be corrected and many folks who have gotten their visas here can testify to this. You may argue that it was stated that the money must be available to you for your study whilst in the uk. But i havent met many people who keep money in savings or current account forever.

To fulfil the 28 days requirement, people liquidate interest yielding mutual funds, treasury bills, fixed deposits etc. Once you fulfil the 28 days, i believe there's nothing wrong in moving your funds back to these security instruments even while your application is being considered.

Just so that you know, the banks are not obliged to disclose any account balance to any visa office other than to confirm authenticity of the bank statement presented. This is the reason why visa officers look at trend and not closing balance which often time could have changed before the application is been considered.

For tier4 visa, the 28-day rule is simply 28 days of maintaining a certain balance nothing more. The ukvi knows many folks do all sort to raise this fund including borrowing, but they have also deviced means to combat that by demanding the sponsor i.e the school report every irregularity if any is observed to the home office immediately after you resume in school.

Please lets educate ourselves by being open and factual, and not by intimidation for no man knows it all.

Oga or Madam, thank you so much, I couldn't have said it better, you answered it perfectly. ThankGod their are people like you in this thread. @Justwise, anytime you feel like removing me, you are more than free, I gladly welcome it, you have already started by deleting my post. Thank you

Another thing is that this thread or nairaland in general will never grow if when someone challenges your opinion by arguing against it, you then threaten to remove that individuals posting privileges, I know argument or debate leads to knowledge growth, what if am right and you are wrong or if am wrong and you right, you would have just explained to everyone why you believe its bad for him to have used part of the money because I explained the disadvantage of using the money but sighting it won't prevent him from securing his visa. The funny thing is that I answered the question because I pitied the OPs situation. Please I believe everyone here is an adult and know constructive argument only leads to growth but I still promise never to answer any questions in nairaland because of justwise. Even the girl that wanted her stepfather to sponsor her, I knew the answer to her issue and kept quiet. Thanks

@Onyebuenyim

If you don't stop using this thread to encourage the abuse of student rule your posting privilege will be removed.

Do whatever you like with your application but never come here trying to encourage others to do the same.
@Justwise, don't mean any offence by my posts but a lawyer from UK Council for International Student Affairs was where I got my information from. That is a white woman lawyer, she was stressing that students don't understand immigration laws but I guess you can remove my posting privileges for posting something an immigration lawyer clarified..instead of just asking me where I got my information from. I can understand you have read all the laws of tier 4 visa, so have I. I can remember a part that stated that the money should be available even after your application but you are misunderstanding that statement, that was the statement the woman clarified. Normally i dont answer questions on nairaland, even when i know the answer, i only selfishly ask questions and from now, i will stop answering questions again. Thanks

This is all nonsense, you do not touch the money until you get to the UK, all these excuses doesn't cut it.
Oga or madam, you don't know how wrong you are, read up more, it is not even UKVI business what happens to the money, they just want to know you have funding for staying in their country, so spending a bit of the money is not wrong

Please I am a bit worried about my wifes visa..we applied the same day but her biometrics was 2 days after mine on the 7th of august, mine was 5th and my visa was out on the 27th but hers is not yet out till now. Is a normal occurrence, I initially thought the both will come out almost the same day or close together, hers is already 15 working days and counting. Please is this normal

Yours is far better than mine (situation), I did biometrics since 26th July, until now I haven't gotten any email from UKVI, it's been officially 20 working days now (30 days including Saturdays and Sundays and today's UK public holiday). Although I called UKVI on Thursday last week, I was told my application is awaiting decision and that it will be escalated, not even sure what that means exactly. Is here any body who did biometrics in IKeja VAC on the 26th of July, 2019 who is in my shoes ?
it is well

If you read the guidelines and somebody else got decision same day or 2days or 1week, knowing that you did Standard, it will not bother you.

It will because am anxious to know what the decision is or will be...

Did you read any guide about Tier 4 visa processing time?
If you did ,we won't see this question.

I don't mean to boast but am sure I have read everything readable online about tier 4 Visa. The issue is that many people on standard service got their passport back within 10 days. So I was expecting the same, its not that I don't know the normal time for standard service. Thanks

You might need to patiently wait for the stipulated 15 working days to elapse. I had my biometrics and credibility interview via Standard application on 31st July, received Sheffield mail on 1st August and still patiently waiting for the collection mail.
All the best.

Thanks, I will graciously wait, just hope it turns out well
