Arraignment of Ize-Iyamu, Dan Orbih: Be Courageous, Face Your Fraud, Money Laundering Charges – Concerned Edo Citizens

Following the arraignment of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s 2016 governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and the state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, before a Federal High Court in Benin for money laundering on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, members of the Concerned Citizens of Edo State (CCES) have challenged the PDP members to man up to the call and face the charges against them.

President of the association, Mr. Ogbewi Aghedo, commended the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for sustaining the fight against corruption, despite attempts by hangers-on of corrupt politicians to derail the fight.

“It is heart-warming to see that the high and mighty who allegedly looted our common patrimony are having their days in court. For so long we have lived with the mentality of celebrating serial looters who sabotaged our collective progress.

“They positioned themselves in places where they were untouchable; they made the laws and executed same and enjoyed ‘immunity.’ Petty thieves and those who committed minor wrongs went to jail while those who looted millions and billions exploited us to the point of forcing most of our youths to resort to extreme measures to survive,” Aghedo said.

He stressed that, “They destroyed the legacy of good governance, handed to them by great leaders like Prof. Ambrose Alli and Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, who brought prosperity to our people. They replaced good governance with grand larceny and looting, betrayed the electorates, armed our youths to kill and destroy themselves while perpetuating themselves in power.

“At last, judgement day is around the corner for all those who converted money meant for schools, hospitals and roads to build mansions for themselves. The sinner will know no peace until he openly confesses, apologises and returns the loot.”

The organisation advised the Edo PDP members to make themselves available in court at the next hearing to face the judge and stop hiding behind their legal representatives.

“Much as it standard practice to be represented in court, the accused should rise up to this particular occasion and come to court. When they are collecting the loot, do they send their lawyers? The answer is no! As we await the outcome of their trial, we in the court of public opinion are impressed by the work of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),” the civil society group said.

Aghedo averred that “No nation can survive when all their leaders do is to loot the public treasury, become billionaires in states where there are no good roads, hospitals, schools, housing, security and industries.”

Seriously tho, what exactly is the problem with these Edo PDP guys?

Okpekpe has gone international. Time for Edo state to start cashing in on it. Since our people cannot win the race, let the community and investors benefit optimally from this wonderfully conceived event. A step in the right direction by Gov. Obaseki

The International Day also aims to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today.
In order to be more permanently honour our land that flows with Milk and Honey must reflects on the life of common man on the street.

Sometimes people forget the level of wickedness that can be conjured in the human mind. We take a lot of things for granted, especially freedom in today's societies. A day like this is meant to bring our minds to the cringing reality of man's inhumanity to man; whether yesterday, today or tomorrow and ensure we tackle such a menace to its definitive end.

If only Edo people realize how much shame and disrepute the human trafficking syndrome has cast on them they would renege on such inhumane and infinitely demeaning practice. I join to commend the Oba for taking a public stance to publicly condemn it.

Religion / Re: Deeper Life Girls, You Are Getting Married Too Early! by oomngsvr: 6:21pm On Mar 14, 2018
What kind of rubbish epistle is this OP writing sef. In the 60s/70s when it was a norm for 9ja women to get married at 16yrs didnt we have demons then? Ironically, those marriages seemingly fared better than marriages of today when most girls get married from 24-30yrs.

My advise to girls usually are:
i) Get some level of tertiary education or vocational training before getting married so you are not totally financially dependent on their spouses

ii) If you are going to wait till you're 30 before getting serious about marriage, remember that men usually have their eyes on the next generation of marriageable girls, usually 22-26. Be ready for competition.

Oga OP, you should really be commending the chastity of these deeper life girls instead of painting them in bad light.
