just google the guy and know who the real starboy is .This guy earned 80-90 million dollars (not naira)in one year. Our celebrities make too much noise over nothing and our entertainment industry is too hype rich and income poor.Just consider how much the weekend earned from streams of his songs.Back to the drawing board naija,we are sooo local champions. 3 Likes |

Warren Buffett is not leaving his vast wealth to his family rather he is giving almost all of it away .Now if you were his grandson, would you call him regularly to say grandpa, how are you?Knowing fully well that when the man dies ,you aint getting shishi. |

people apparently dont understand what an individual's networth is.The way foreign business magazines arrive at these figures is working from the known to the unknown. These people live in systems where records are premium and can be easily accessed. So shouting Jeff Bezos is now the richest man in the world is just mass hysteria .The most verifiable indicator of networh is the current value of an individual's stake in a publicly quoted company like facebook, amazon or microsoft. The problem is this money is not cash and the valuation is very prone to fluctuation. So Mark Zuckerberg has a bad quarter some analysts with reputable brokerages feel it will be a problem and then downgrade the stock ,and in one day his networh reduces by 3BILLION.Tesla is burning cash but based on future promise,Elon Musk is worth several billions, and these all could change if something dramatic happens. It is exciting to see a new name on the top of the list, but it might not be for long.Amazon is a behemoth but still has a long way to go in the land of profitability, which keeps Jeff Bezos seriously exposed.Bill Gates on the other hand has been the world's richest for over 25 years eventhough names like Armancio Ortega of Zara, Warren Buffett and Carlos Slim Helu overtook him for a few days or at most 6 months but they usually receed after a while like violent waves that hit the sandy beach and ultimately have to receed. Bill Gates is an enigma and adjusted for inflation his netwoth would probably be higher than that of Jeff Bezos, but this guy has given over 30 billion dollars away with Nigeria alone collecting 1.6 billion from one man.I think with his charitable nature he will always remain the richest. ruggedtimi: |

Nigeria is a hot country and it is bad enough wearing singlet alone, how much more wearing coats and ties worn by people that live in a freezer.I dont care too much for dressing as I feel it is over emphasized, however I believe people should generally wear comfortable clothing ,be clean and smell nice.Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg arent power dressers and until recently,Jeff Bezos of Amazon wasnt renowned for his style but they are all uber successful. Much ado about nothing if you ask me,wear great clothes for your mind and the world will come to you. 3 Likes |

i didnt mean living abroad in a derogatory manner, sorry if it came across that way.Living abroad is not an achievement, rather solving problems for the greater good I consider very highly. The robbers working at night was just true sarcasm. nurshah: |

If you have lived abroad, then you would realize there is an entire night ecosystem.Construction workers repairing roads, rail tracks etc.Street sweepers, advertising billboard companies changing billboard ads at night.Maintenance crews checking plumbing and electrical wiring in tunnels to make sure cities run efficiently during the day. How do you think large supermarkets always look neat and well arranged.Delivery trucks dock at night, deliver their goods and waiting staff sort and replenish the aisles before the first customers come in in the morning. Flights land in Heathrow from naija at 4am. That is the night economy at work. nurshah: 3 Likes |

With everything going on for it,Amazon could hardly declare a profit, how much more operating in a system where you have to provide your own logistics.Imagine how much konga spent on fueling their dispatch bikes daily, then imagine the thieves in admin inflating bills and putting in vouchers for services that were not rendered.Imagine the dispatch that somehow pockets 500 every time he is to buy fuel for the bike. Amazon spent a fortune building data centers that have eventually given birth to the very profitable Amazon Web Services,Konga and Jumia spend a fortune on diesel and acquisition of generators that just pollute the environment and make the cost profile of the business very ugly. Should I start on electricity?Naaa, story for another day.A quick question though,Payporte is sponsoring big brother naija, but does anyone use them ? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

i knew the moment this whole e commerce trend started that it wasall fireworks(a showy display that captivates our attention for a moment and then nothing).Having followed the Amazon story since the mid 2000s,I knew Nigeria was not ready for e commerce and jumping into that space was tantamount to the herd mentality(everyone doing the same thing whether it makes sense or not).Amazon has been around now for longer than some nairaland members have been alive, but in all that while it was not a profit making entity despite their ever soaring valuation. Not until very recently especially with the new Amazon Web Services did they start declaring very tiny profits compared to the scale of their operations. Now Amazon operates or originates from a system where the logistics of e commerce make sense.Fedex,UPS and DHL have been trying to outdo themselves for decades which means even before Amazon was born ,the logistics of delivery was sorted.Secondly to all those asking how Buhari comes in,well here is your answer. For logistics to make sense, you need infrastructure.Really good infrastructure. Good roads, airstrips with safe tarmacs that can be utilized at night.Ibadan airport is a joke and so are most airports in nigeria .You cannot sustain a big business depending on just Lagos ,Port Harcout and Abuja and more importantly you need the night economy to make e commerce efficient. The only people that work at night in nigeria are armed robbers, prostitutes, corrupt policemen and recently uber and taxify drivers. k 7 Likes |

He came from a well to do family but after losing his father before university,he lost his inheritance to hungry relatives. He was accused of being a cultist in university by his relatives and what was left of his family kicked him out.He went from grace to the manure for grass. God however is always faithful as his story is one of restoration through absolute trust in God.He worked for reputable security firms, even though he started his security career as a security man.He is a graduate and applied himself till his experience had formed a launching pad for his own very successful security company. Do you know how much security contracts with the oil majors and multinationals are worth? Not every rich man is a thief. 3 Likes 1 Share |

TV/Movies / Re: 'The Wedding Party 2' Earned N20 Million On Opening Day At Cinemas by oreayo2011: 8:03am On Dec 17, 2017 |
I feel so sorry for Nigerian youths, you all quote foreign media about the success of foreign ventures but yet refuse to celebrate your own.Iron man made 100million at the weekend box office,Jeff Bezos becomes the richest man worth whatever billions,Apple makes more profit yearly than Nigeria's budget.....Yet a smart woman who worked for 10 years in a place most of you fast and pray to work (Exxon Mobil)at an age lower than most of you are currently are, moves on to do other things her mind wanted to do and we can see the result of an exceptional mind. If she had stayed in Mobil all these years, who would have initiated the format of talk shows that were not mere content without the accompanying income?Who would have employed all those studio hands, the gaffers, the sound guys, the audio engineers, the editors?Who would have thought of what to do with Tinapa in Calabar(a very celebrated project that died a very quick death) Have you watched Ebonylife TV,the crystal clear quality, the sound, the attention to detail, and our attempt to meet regular standards out there? We sit behind laptops and phones and condemn what should be our future dreams. When Mo Abudu leaves a hefty inheritance for her grand kids, your children would probably be lamenting about how unfair the world is not knowing their dads or mums in the noon of their lives were just cyber warriors(all talk ,no thought) I wont chide and not encourage. The success of the thirty days series by AY and wedding party 1&2 is an eye opener to budding entrepreneurs.Tunde Kelani and Kunle Afolayan have been making great movies with a great cinematic ethos but they havent found this kind of success because of one missing ingredient called 'MARKETING' which Mo Abudu and her team have to a large extent gotten a hang of.Hollywood is over a hundred years old which means Nollywood would outlive us all and it will only get better. To all of you in the abroad asking if we watch movies in Nigeria, yes we do and in droves too.Do you watch movies in the country where you are resident?I guess not,as dem wan use work finish you,if you are legal that is(those who know, know). For those waiting to download a pirated copy, somebody somewhere is working really hard to give away your sweat for pittance and that is not a curse,it is called KARMA.Food for thought, the highest paid actors in Bollywood earn millions of dollars in a poor developing country like India because they kept at the cinematic culture and proof is that some of you or people you know are hooked on ZEE World.Countless jobs have been created over the years in India and the actors make a very decent living. So our dear cyber analysts, what difference are you going to make today that will positively impact tomorrow? 6 Likes |

[quote author=bellong post=61052161] No, it will not cause any issue with DIBP. Do you have 20 point in English? @bellong @disectur @other accountants Just to be sure. Do I need to withdraw the EOI on skill select if i want to submit another application using a different skill. I have submitted EOI as an accountant for visas 189 and 190. To increase my chances, I want to assess as a finance manager and submit another EOI for visa 190. Do i have to withdraw the EOI for accountant. Anyone in this situation? |

bellong: I haven't mainly because of the POF. But even if i get their nomination, the points in the last draw was 85. So my 70points plus 5 from state nomination will not reach that |

@bellong, fellow accountants in the house please assist. I assessed as an accountant and submitted my EOI for both visas 189 and 190(NSW) with 70 points. However with the recent high points required for accountants, I am thinking of doing a fresh assessment for finance manager and submitting a new EOI. Please advice if this will cause any issues with DIBP 1 Like |

[quote author=avobati post=60391702]Do I have chance at all for Accountant at all? Gurus, abeg help me calculate o. Going by your experience, would be best if you can make the required scores in PTE. Please try prepare well to score at least 79 on all bands. That would most likely take you to 70 points and then apply for state nomination (preferably NSW). Which will then give you total of 75 points. The assessment of economics will not be necessary to get you up to 75 points (with state nomination) Hmmmm, I am also an accountant and I have been on the queue for NSW nomination since July but no show. I currently have 70points and trying to get to 75 with state nomination. I am just praying i get nominated before the quota for accountant is filled up. Its quite frustrating as I dont have other options left to boost my points. |

Hello All, First I will like to thank the initiator of this thread(Oga bellong), it is a fantastic initiative.I have been a silent observer on this thread for about 2 months and i have learnt a lot. Thank you everyone. I observed we do not have too many accountants coming here. However i believe I can still get a response to my enquiry. I completed all my assessments last month and was about to go on skill select but decided to hold on because i noticed the minimum point for ITA for accountants has been 70 and i currently have 65points with state nomination. Now i have decided to redo the english test to enable me claim 20 points to boost my overall score. My worry now is that the quota for accountants has been filled up for this year and it is one of the flagged occupations. Do you think it will still be on the CSOL/SOL when the system is refreshed in July? |
