Politics / Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by oshokomole: 4:22am On Nov 29, 2018 |
jamjo:
The problem is not only in Anambra but all Southeast, and believe me Southeast is as viable as SS or even more, It is just our visionless leaders who don't think outside box. Imagine if they can implement an effective properties tax collection system statewide, when I said statewide, including the villages. If they can collect between #100 to #5000 every month from all the houses that scattered all over our towns and villages in Igbo land and up the tax collection in other areas to at least 60% believe me Abuja money will be the money for the rainy days. mktinsight:
Obiano is a former accountant and it is shocking that his administration is highly disorganized, corrupt and incompetent. He has basically allowed the urban core of the state to degenerate into lawless chaos, filth and disorganization under his watch while deflecting criticism with his flyovers and other grandiose projects.
You would think that someonoe who professed to be revenue driven could be this bad. But not surprising since his appointment of people into agencies is more about sentiment than delivery. For example, I once had a chat with a manager at the State Inland Revenue Service and raised several questions :
1) I asked how many industries and businesses are registered in Anambra, their sizes and revenue. They had no idea.
2) I asked what was the revenue of MAIN MARKET or EKE AWKA MARKET. They had no idea.
3) I asked them how many working adults are living in the state and their means of employment and income. They had no idea.
4) I asked them how many properties there are and types in the state. They had no idea (even though there is an agency called APLUC).
Now if they you have no data on all of these indicators then how can you be serious about tax collection? And without tax how do you expect to make inroads on basics like education, health or infrastructure.
From my own estimates about what I know about Anambra the state should be able to raise at least 50 billion a year if they made an effort. There are around 4 million working adults in the state with around 3 million living in urban areas. The urban dwellers should be paying a minimum of 10,000 to the state in income tax or around 30 billion. Now when I raised this with the AIRS man he asked me how. I said why not create a state ID and register everyone. Tie the state ID to physical businesses that people operate, to their residences. All those individual shop owners would be required to pay 10,000 to the state. Businesses with less than 10 employees would also be required to pay 10,000 per employee. This is unassessed tax. From 10 employees upward then you assess the companies for PAYE tax. That would reduce the number of businesses AIRS would assess to probably around 5,000 companies.
As a strategy the state is supposed to be using IGR to pay workers salaries and maintain its offices and use federal allocation for infrastructure and critical services. |

[s] Mace0lane: This is what baffles me about the Igbos, you can imagine how they are hyping this colossal failure. They claim all road constructed by Okorocha had been washed away by rain but this jerk of governor built Milliken Hill road with so much fun fare with contract probably running into trillions only for the same road to be washed away the following week with this silly Igbos chastising the failure till this hour please see pictures below

What of that delapidated school in the state that graced frontpage two months ago? Has he done anything about it?
I visit enugu occasionally even though i am not from there. Most of the roads his paid lackey mentioned were constructed by the immediate past governor. All he did is to patch some dilapidated portions. Secondly the praise singers at ugwuanyi's disposal is out of the roof. |

There is nothing like being rich in imitation.
So in your tiny brain, lack of money in the economy is an indication that Buhari is fighting corruption?
That industries are crippled due to insufficient funds and profit is an evidence of a corrupt-free Nigeria?
That government parastatals cannot pay full salary and or recruit more capable staff is a proof of Buhari's integrity?
I advise you to see things beyond prejudice and your level of awareness otherwise you will end up exposing your ignorance.
Your almighty corruption fighter Buhari whom your type believe he would jail every corrupt politician should have dealt with them accordingly.
His so-called integrity is fake. |

Politics / Re: Igbos Didn’t Endorse Atiku, We Are Still Behind Buhari – Uche Nwosu by oshokomole: 8:47pm On Nov 16, 2018 |
18Ebiscoo:
Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State governor, Uche Nwosu, has dismissed the reported endorsement of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Peter Obi, by Igbo leaders at an Enugu summit recently.
He described the endorsement as “a designed plan to deceive the people that the Igbos rest their support with the PDP”.
Nwosu, who maintained that the support for President Buhari by the Igbos was still intact, noted that the endorsement by the few Igbo leaders at the Enugu Summit did not reflect the position of Ndigbo and will not affect the chances of President Muhammadu Buhari in the South East.
According to him, the South East has nothing tangible to show for its support for the PDP during its 16 years in power to warrant the endorsement of its Presidential candidate or any other.
Nwosu, in statement on Friday, reassured that despite the post primary crisis rocking the party (APC) in the zone, President Buhari would still get a landslide victory.
According to Nwosu, “We are not losing sleep over the recent endorsement of Atiku by some Igbo leaders, the action will not change the reality on ground.
“The South East will deliver Buhari in 2019 because it is our best option. We cannot be distracted with the PDP’s Greek gift of Vice President, our focus as a people should be Igbo Presidency in 2023.
“One important question we should be asking ourselves as Ndigbo is what did we benefit from the PDP for the 16 years it was in power to warrant the endorsement of its candidate, as against what we have recorded within the three years that President Buhari is in power”.
He continued that, “Most of the political decisions of some of our leaders are self serving and not in the overall interest of the Igbo but this time we are committed to pursuing the best political option for the Igbo, which is supporting President Buhari’s second term”.
Nwosu also added that, “The fact that majority of our party members are not happy with the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole over the manner he handled the party primaries across the zone does not affect our support for President Buhari.
“In fact it is beyond personal considerations, it is about the interest of Ndigbo and we will deliver President Buhari in 2019. The support for President Buhari is borne out his unequalled integrity and uprightness, which is what the country needs most now,” he concluded.

Politics / Re: Opinion: Shouting Gandollar While Ignoring Obidollar/ObiNaira Is Hypocrisy by oshokomole: 4:10pm On Nov 16, 2018 |
[s] life2017: It was reported by many media in 2009 that Peter Obi openly confessed to taken over 2million dollar bribe (over 350million naira)
Below is the report of Peter Obi admitting to collecting bribe from Contractors
http://saharareporters.com/2009/02/18/robinhood-how-i-spend-my-bribe-money-gov-obi-pm-news
if we are objective, we should be calling for prosecution of Peter Obi as a Confirmed Bribe Taker.
Open true confession by Peter Obi without any duress is a better form of evidence much stronger than video evidence which some people can argue to be fake even if it is definitely genuine. We can excuse Peter Obi in 2009 because he had immunity then and ended up winning his second term. Open voluntary confession to crime of over 2million dollars(350 million naira in 2009) does not equate to innocence. In an attempt to appear sanctimonious, Peter Obi indicted himself. All this bribe are product of inflated contracts
He want to be VP of Nigeria as a self confessed Bribe Taker. Maybe now he will use the Bribe for welfare of IDP. The day Peter Obi declare his interest to be VP is the day he made this his bribe issue a current one. Nobody should come and claim it is in the past because it happened 9 years ago. It is now a current issue because he want to be vice president of this country now.
EFCC and Buhari is a bit handicapped on Gandollar because he has immunity. Until he is impeached by Kano state House of assembly, EFCC can only investigate Ganduje (Gandollar) but can't prosecute.
Let prosecute Peter Obi now. He has no hurdles of immunity. He want to nationalised/institutionalised bribe taken as Vice President especially when he is the vice presidential candidates to a known bribe taker (Atiku) according to US congress committee investigation.
If we can't prosecute Obi or protest about it, we should just agree that we have accepted Bribe taking as our culture and stop shouting Gandollar.
There is no atom of objectivity in shouting Gandollar and ignoring Obidollar/Obinaira. The post is not justifying Gandollar. The post is only saying if Gandollar must be impeached, Peter Obi also need to be jailed or prosecuted.
Politics is driven more by sentiment than facts/objectivity no matter how educated anyone claim to be .That is the aim of this message. Those shouting Gandollar while ignoring Obidollar are equal in hypocrisy as those silent on Gandollar.
