It's Basically just an exam that tests your English and maths, you could also be required to take one or two other subjects depending on the course and university you are aspiring to enter. Take for instance, someone aspiring to go to an 'Ivy League school' such as princeton might need to take an extra subject asides the normal Maths and English to increase his/her chances; some other schools don't require that though
