Politics / Re: Exchange Rate Determines Everything But Not Minimum Wage - Why? by OsunOriginal: 9:09am On Jun 09 |
DaddyCoool: And the same government can't pay 140k/150k minimum wage to workers. I am sure our colonial masters would be laughing their ass out - and saying "see what they're doing to themselves".... Niggers! |
Politics / Exchange Rate Determines Everything But Not Minimum Wage - Why? by OsunOriginal: 10:41pm On Jun 08 |
Nigerian elites/leaders (in government and private sector) are jokers. You base the price of fuel, gas, food, other goods and services on exchange rate, but you don't want to consider exchange rate while determining minimum wage for workers who are the consumers. Isn't it ridiculous that a worker in Nigeria (call him gate man or cleaner or whatever), even after this so-called negotiation with the labor union, may still go home with less than 65k naira per month? This is about 50 dollars per month before tax. It means some workers in Nigeria may not have more than a dollar to live on per day. Anybody earning below $2usd per day is living below the poverty line - this is what UN says. Why is this not a point of discussion and negotiation? I don't think Labor should accept anything less than $100 equivalent in Naira as minimum wage. Even that amount is inhumane in a country where lawmakers, governors, ministers, etc buy 160-million-naira SUV for themselves with public money. Some have more than 1 SUV in their convoy, all bought with public funds. 6 Likes |
Politics / Re: Economic Importance Of Lagos Calabar Coastal High Way by OsunOriginal: 9:22pm On May 01 |
highchief1: The whole project can't be completed in 8 years. Even the first phase would take 3 to 4 years to complete, and they have about 4 phases or thereabout. For us, once the phase 1 (VI to Lekki port/Dangote) is completed, we are fine and we would celebrate it. If not Tinubu, other governments should take it up from there and complete the remaining. Government is a continuum. |

Biodun556: Who cares about their criticism? Whoever you need to explain the economic importance of the road to is either an illiterate or an enemy of progress. Whatever needs to be demolished should be demolished - I can even offer free demolition service to government if required. You can't have it both ways more so that compensations are being paid to the affected people. What should be our concern is the tradition of the Nigerian government to abandon projects. We must not allow this to happen to the coastal road project. I love the project and I can see the transformation this would be bring, to not only Lagos but all other states it connects. |

onatisi: Thank you. Why power supply has gone from bad to worse shortly Adelabu took over is what I'm still trying to wrap my head around. He wants to be Oyo governor and ordinary power ministry he couldn't manage properly. Oyo state people would be looking for something other than good governance to make this one their governor. This assignment has shown beyond reasonable doubt that Adelabu is incompetent. Power supply has never been this bad. Even NEPA time was better. 4 Likes |

Tranquillity360: So, you think soldiers would be killed just like that by some miscreants without any consequence? The heads of those villages and the governor of the state should fish out the criminal elements who killed the soldiers and hand them over to the military if they don't want innocent people (which might include them) to die. With the presidential order, those villages involved won't see or hear voice of human beings for decades to come. 2 Likes |

Politics / Penkelemess In The Power Ministry by OsunOriginal: 10:03am On Feb 04 |
To say that power supply situation in the country is getting worse is an understatement. The situation is, to say the least, pathetic. What we face today has clearly eroded whatever investment has gone into power supply over the years. With Tinubu in Aso Rock, we had hoped that power supply situation in the country would improve given his antecedent as the brain behind EAS/Egbin project which was originally midwifed to address the power needs of Lagosians. We had hoped a visionary leader like him would be able to build quickly on whatever was on ground and improve power supply for economic prosperity. Tinubu came in and announced Adelabu as the minister of power. Within weeks, power supply nose-dived, and it has been one trouble per week since then. If it is not gas supply shortage, it would be gas pipeline leakage. If not pipeline leakage, it would be a problem with a major transformer. First, his appointment as the minister of power was a rude shock to many of us who had expected a tested hand. We couldn't understand the basis for his appointment as the minister of power. This man has only been a deputy governor in the corruption ridden CBN where he made money for himself and enjoyed his days inside air-conditioned office. The AC I doubt he knows how it works. Now he is our power minister. Someone said he is a first-class accounting graduate. The question is, how has he brought that to bear on power ministry? Shouldn't even this be an embarrassment to other first-class graduates? Ordinary policy direction, he hasn't shared with Nigerians. Today, we don't know what is going on in that ministry. All we see daily is epileptic power supply and Adelabu frequently flying in and out of Ibadan where he is nursing a governorship ambition. Anyway, the "penkele-mess" in the ministry needs to be cleaned. The president needs to step in and do the needful. Power supply is the lifeblood of any country and therefore, its management shouldn't be handed to just any politician. 9 Likes

Foreign Affairs / Where Is Biden? by OsunOriginal: 10:57pm On Nov 11, 2023 |
Biden and his cohorts seem to have lost their voices after seeing the anger on the streets of the world's capital cities (in the west, asia, middle east, and even Africa) against the ongoing holocaust ironically spearheaded by Israel in Gaza. Biden must not abandon Natanyahu in the middle of battle with babies, childrens, women, etc. More bombs should be shipped to Natanyahu |

dre11: Passport doesn't take 6 months. The irredeemably corrupt immigration officials are the ones complicating it and making it look like a rocket science. If the minister wants result, he needs to start sacking those heading the departments within immigration responsible for passport printing. ICPC should also be brought in to investigate them... their bank accounts, relatives accounts, properties they have, etc. Until we start jailing those crooks, nothing much will change... I hate seeing anybody in that immigration uniform. 3 Likes |
