Your profile is not spectacular and only 4 people are selected for PhD.

You had 9 credits. People had As and Bs.

You had 2.2. People had First Class.

People in your state had publications, certifications and professional membership also. Having admission is not a criteria. Your proposal might not be good enough.

So you are just ordinary. Stop lamenting and accusing PTDF when there are others in your state with better profile than you.

Learn from your failure instead of just bragging not knowing that you are just with an ordinary profile. Instead of UK, go for GFCM. Also, try other scholarships in USA and Canada schools.

My leave matter abeg
My WAEC is 9 credits
My B. Eng is 3.33/5.0 cgpa
My M. Eng is 4.5/5 cgpa
I have NAPTIN, MNSE, COREN, NIEEE, IEEE, series of Publications, I have series of PHD admissions
And so many others.
So what are you telling me.
What are their process of giving marks?

By 9 credits, do you mean 9Cs?
3.33/5.00 in most Nigerian universities is a 2:2, did you have a 2:2?
What did you mean by series of publications, are they up to 5?
Maybe you should ask yourself if there are people with 9As, first class, distinction, 5 publications, 5 pro-body membership and a very strong proposal.
It is always easier to cry fowl and blame everyone else when things don't work out our way.

Transparent, my foot! The awardees from my state in UK PhD category are in number 27 and 29 in the published shortlisted candidates list for interview! Mind you, they were only 51 candidates in total from the state called for the interview. And I can tell you that the interview list was generated based on points each applicant garnered and numbered in descending order! This is Nigeria, the awardees are mixed of both merited and 7g connected guys! Nevertheless, I wish them all a successful academic sojourn.

Like I said before, I have applied for PTDF scholarship 5 times and got awarded for MSc and PhD without connection, I personally know more than 50 past and current scholars who got the scholarship without knowing anyone.
My name was number 1 on the published interview list from my state but I almost missed my interview because of carelessness. Do you know if the top ranked candidates showed up for their interviews? Do you know if some of their publications and professional body membership were rejected on the interview date (this happened to me last year)? Do you know if they flopped their interview (like I did before)? Yes, they work with a ranking system but if on the interview day you can't defend your credentials, you're not going to get the scholarship. We know that in Nigeria 7g connection is a problem but from my experience with PTDF since 2018, the published list is usually on merit!
Slots are limited so everyone can not get the scholarship, I am sure that if I was from a more competitive state or if I had chosen to go to the UK, I wouldn't have gotten the scholarship. If you didn't get the scholarship, ask yourself why, and try to improve your odds for next time.

I have taken my time and gone through/checked all the names and surnames and saw that they are linked to politicians.

How I wish my Father or my Mother is a Senator, Governor or House of Representatives member because this one is not for the average financial students or merit students, it is for the merited politicians that are already having.

Congratulations to all the awardees. One day based on my Godly efforts, I will definitely meet you guys in UK, GFM and even China.

Cheers and nevertheless to everyone who did not get. Keep striving you will be better.

2008
2018
2019
2020
2022 All for PTDF.

Thank you PTDF! Thank you Nigeria!
One day Uchechukwu will happen.

Since 2018, the official PTDF awards have been transparent. If you see anyone on that list, it is because they earned it going through the selection process. Maybe there's an unofficial list where influence is more important, but as a two time awardee MSc and now PhD (with at least 3 attempts for PhD) without any sort of connection, the official list is based on merit without connection (maybe the selection process could be better though). All the scholars I know (at least 50), got their scholarship without knowing anyone.

For everyone wanting to apply again, work on improving your chances (publish more papers if you don't have enough, register for professional bodies if you have not, and apply for GFM which generally has lower competition)

When listing your domain on Epik's marketplace (not just uploading to your portfolio), there is an option for you to display statistics (this includes estibot evaluation), no stats will be displayed if you don't select this option.

Dear Iykepromotions,
Today four of my domains expired, it was a reminder of how far I have come in the last 1 year. I want to thank you for creating this thread, and to everyone who has made this thread relevant with various contributions.
To the newbies, 1 year ago I stumbled on this thread, like SOME of you I rushed to register names (which are expiring now), I got disappointed after some weeks of no sales/response to my outbound mails but I didn't give up. In the last 1 year I have grown from 0 to over 200 names in my portfolio, making small kobo every month because I found this thread. THE ROAD MAY NOT BE SMOOTH, BUT DON'T GIVE UP. LEARN, DON'T BE GREEDY OR EMOTIONAL ABOUT SALES, REINVEST AND GROW YOUR PORTFOLIO WITH GOOD NAMES!
MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO EVERY DEAL WITH INTEGRITY, HELP ALL OF US IMPROVE OUR IMAGE AS NIGERIANS IN THE DOMAIN INDUSTRY!
Oga Iyke, Na You Be The Real MVP!
Yours truly,
Chief Executive Hustler of DomainTrolley

1. oakland/forklift/rentals

3. wyoming/window/cleaning

4. lake/nona/dentist

5. newhampshire/heating

All in King

Thank You!

The names are good. Just to add to the advice already given, STICK WITH SERVICES THAT EARN THE BUSINESS OWNER REAL MONEY, e.g, the window cleaning name is good, but how much does a window cleaner earn? If your BIN for that domain is $200 for instance, how many windows will the buyer clean before having $200 (which is already a very low BIN for a good domain) to purchase the domain?

So nothing is wrong with the 'outbounding', I just need to reach out to more end users
Exactly! And when you sell, reinvest part of the money into your domain business.
If you use $20 to buy 20 average or good names in 1 week, you will probably sell 1 before the next week will pass. Imagine selling 10 names at $100 within 1 month, it is very possible. Though individually the sales are small, when you add them together you have $1k in that month, is this not better than scaring buyers with a very high BIN for a domain that is not so good?
I have over 100 domains, some good and some bad, but I know that I can get between $100 to $500 every week if I hustle well with outbound.

The same account, the same card. I can't explain why it works 1 minute and misbehaves the next. Even my PayPal doesn't work at all.
But when I see a really good name, I just go to namesilo directly before netsol delay me and someone else grab the domain.
I usually keep some money in my namesilo account so I don't need to use card or PayPal all the time.

Three things I'm missing here and I would like you to shed some light on it.

#1.
Are you using a free email account or a paid one? If you're using a paid one, do you create a custom email address for each domain you plan to sell or you use a single custom email address for all of your outbound?

#2. In your sales email, do you include the direct links to where you list your domain e.g. (undeveloped.com/xxxxx) or you just include the default web address i.e. undeveloped.com.

#3. Can you give me an example of the subject line you use in your outbound?

I handreg some pretty stupidd names and made some mistakes during my "outbounding".. I don't want such mistake to repeat it self. So I need someone who've had success with outbounding as far as domain sales is concerned to throw more light on this.

cc: Iykepromotions, tranxo, haykay2005, ollybode

Thanks.
1. I have a domain company (lol), this means my email address is something sales@xyzdomain/com, myfirstname@xyzdomain/com or info@xyzdomain/com. I pay for both Zoho and Mailspring subscription (spending around $50/year if I remembered correctly). However, they all have free packages you can start with, I only pay because I get enough sales to cover the cost. If you must run your domaining as a business, you must invest, and you need sales to cover costs (this means that sometimes you accept sales of $50 for a domain with low buyer interest).
2. I just put the domain I am selling, e.g generalprofessorbuhari/com, buyers only see undevelop when they click the link.
3. INQUIRY (this gives over 70% of opening)

please is there anything I'm getting wrong?
Did outbound on Facebook to about 6 pages, most of the messages didn't even deliver, a few that delivered only one replied with "let me talk to my partner", she later said no thank you after a few days.

Also did outbound with my mail to over 10 end users, I make use of email tracking on my mobile so I could see most of them were delivered even tho I can't seem to know if they were opened. But I haven't gotten a single reply on email, even after doing a follow up after a week. I forwarded one of the messages to my other email address to be sure it wasn't going to spam and it delivered directly to my inbox.

P.S I use my personal Facebook account. and it's a US city with high population + service domain.
Bros out of 100 end users, only 1 might actually reply or show interest if the domain isn't valuable to them.
95% of sales depends on the domain, not email or sales letter.
I have over 100 unsold domains now and I still register 1 to 5 domains everyday (netsol or namesilo), getting sales is hard but with the right domains you can get an offer.

Seems they have wired this whites brain to sending $50 whenever you ask them if they would like to make an offer.
Lol... It is natural for people to offer a very low amount when asked to make an offer. But that really depends on who you're dealing with, last week a Realtor offered $300 for a domain I listed for $399 (she didn't even know the BIN). So if your buyer makes 'peanuts' from his/her business, they will offer you peanuts. I got an offer of $25 yesterday from a (STATE in the US)+drone/com, if na yeye name I for counter with $100 but I'm definitely keeping that domain for a long time. So if you get a $50 offer, weigh the domain and counter with $200 or $150, my counter for this kind offer usually go like MAKE IT $150 AND WE HAVE A DEAL, if the person is really interested, he will offer around $100.

In another news, I woke up to a $200 offer which I accepted. Bought with Network Solutions $1 promo 2days ago, I did Facebook outbound yesterday, no positive response but one of them went ahead to make the offer without contacting me.
Note to newbies, don't sit and wait for $500+ sales, don't be greedy and don't counter offers unnecessarily, if the offer is good enough, accept and move to the next domain. Sales (no matter the amount) will boost your morale and keep you going in this business, domains expire everyday, target at least 1 domain registration daily.

Testimony time. Alert just entered. Jesus thank you!

3 word USA geo domain (real estate industry)

Bought at Netsol for $1 on Dec. 23 2018 and set BIN $2,300 on Undeveloped

Outbounded on 26th night to more than 20 end users (Facebook and direct email)

Woke up around 3am on Dec. 27th to see an offer of $1,500

I immediately countered $2,000

Buyer countered $1,500 again and said (Unfortunately that's as high as I can go. Thank you for the consideration.)

I come think am. Sleep no gree come again. I say weda to use delay tactics. My church mind tell me say I dey greedy. $1500!!!

I accept fasssssttttt!!!Dec 27th

The waiting game don start be that.

I took the liberty to search the buyer on Facebook. Saw her and noticed she is a very big realtor in that particular real estate subniche I targeted. (Meanwhile name was gotten from Expireddomains)

I added her as a friend and introduced myself. (Reason for this was to get her to know I am real ..... probably worked)

She was on vacation so communication was hell. But I kept communicating. Answering her many questions about her being skeptical about Undeveloped as a trustworthy company, transfer process, how she will get the domain etc.

This went on till Dec 31st when the buyer sent me a mail from Undeveloped that almost gave me heart attack LOL.

Undeveloped in their payment reminder to her spelt the domain name (the name of the city) wrongly TWICE in the same mail. Chai.

She said her trust don vanish that professionals cannot make such a mistake. Wahala. My brain went into overdrive.

I had to allay her fears by letting her understand that Undeveloped being a European country may sometimes get foreign names wrong. I agreed with her that it was unprofessional and that I will contact Undeveloped to correct the mistake.

She was happy.

I contacted Undeveloped and apologies were poured out with promises to rectify the issue.

I purposely didn't bombard buyer with mails so that she will not feel too pressured and back off, but I remember asking her when she intended to pay, cos with the landing page showing "Domain Sold", I may lose other prospects.

She totally understood my concerns and said she was on vacation and cannot do much until she gets back home. That if I want to back off from the deal she will understand...WHAAAATTT!!! Back off wetin!!! God forbid. I told her I will wait ooo.

Undeveloped sent second payment reminder to her on Jan 3.

Buyer assumed that she will pay extra VAT and started developing cold feet.

Those current with Namepros will remember the thread where Undeveloped explained thoroughly their VAT methods.

I smiled and explained the much I can to her that since she is from outside Europe, she won't have to pay any VAT. I also told her that I will tell Undeveloped to explain this to her. Undeveloped did and everyone was happy. LOL

Friday Jan 4th buyer paid. Praise God!

Undeveloped contacted me for domain transfer. Which I completed later in the day. But it was until Monday 7th that Undeveloped acknowledged it (they don't communicated weekends from my experience).

However, it was only on last Wednesday Jan. 9th that they sent the money ($1,365) to my dom account. They said ordinarily they ought to have sent it out within 1 business day from the time buyer paid, but because it was my first transaction, they had to make sure of certain things. They also rejected my request for Bitcoin payout because of the same reason. I can however request for Bitcoin payout from my second transaction.

Wire transfer takes 3-5 business days to hit your account.

Today is the 3rd day. Alert received around 1pm.

I had to write this long epistle not just our of joy, but to chronicle what it looks like dealing with Undeveloped.

Some sales may go smoother than mine, but this goes to show that if I never thought of searching this buyer on Facebook, probability of losing this sale would be high.

I registered 12 names with the $1 promo. Praying and hoping few more in same real estate subniche (sorry - won't reveal it for now) will sell.

As a newbie, and still learning. Try and target cities with population above 100,000

If you are searching your keyword on Google for endusers, if you see adverts appearing at the top of the serach engine results, that's a good sign that people want that keyword. So an enduser may like to have an EMD as his/her domain name.

Another tip. If you are setting your filters on Expireddomains, under Additional tab, at the bottom, tick the box that says Facebook Taken

It will show you domains that have Facebook Pages with the same names. For instance, if it lists lagosvetservices .com, it means you MAY see a Facebook Page with the handle @lagosvetservices

It doesn't always work but when it does, it is a plus. Just check if the FB Page is active. If the business has a website. Even if it has a website that goes by another/similar name, the business MAY want to own a name that matches their FB Page.

$1 promo give us a lot of room to lower our risks.

Meanwhile my alert says $1,345 instead of $1,365. I guess $20 has gone towards unexplained bank charges. Different story with different companies. When I sold some names on Namejet last year, I got the exact amount in my dom account.

Nothing spoil. To God be the Glory. More sales to us all!

PS: any typo? Pardon. Too happy to proofread. LOL.

Congrats.
Reminds me of a deal I closed last week (just $300 though), the realtor was asking so many funny questions about undeveloped, problem increased when I told her to ask her IT guys to verify the authenticity of the domain/undeveloped, IT guys say dem no know any undeveloped, LOL. It got to a point when I sent her the Legal Terms and Conditions of Undeveloped, I almost gave up on the deal but she paid on Friday, transfer in progress.
THOSE WHO HAVEN'T TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE POWER OF FACEBOOK, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Started Domaining Dec. 26th 2018 after crawling this thread countless number of times.
This was the second name I registered, picked from expired domains.
Purchase price: $1 Netsol
BIN: $100
Hold time: 2 Weeks
Type: Outbound-Facebook actually, after countless read mails without reply.
I pitched the name to him, no reply, about 4hrs later I asked "Would you like to make us an offer?" Said: "Yes, $50"
Countered $80, no reply, I sent him the link and changed BIN to $50, He paid immediately.

Thank you Iykepromotions for your superb mentorship (even though I didn't contact you on this one, grin ), 2sexycom, Haykay2005, Promxy94, expertix, Treasure28 and every other person for your positive contributions to this thread, they really motivated me.
..and to otoboson who mentioned to "not be greedy, in this business", I remembered that when I accepted the $50.
Congrats, I see that you also applied THE TRICK I use after a potential buyer reads my mail/message and ignore. Lol, 'WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE US AN OFFER?' works every time, although many will say NO but at least you will know for sure that they're not interested. Also, you will get a low offer most times if they say yes, but at least you can sell (IF THE OFFER IS ACCEPTABLE FOR THE VALUE OF THE DOMAIN) and move to the next.

The business isn't easy.
It's his exact business name domain, but he prefers using a shorter version, and said he purposely let it drop.
Why not think of a short but good version, register it for $1 and pitch it to him?
Tell him to make you an offer for it if he likes it, NO INITIAL PRICE TAG. If it doesn't work, you loss 1$, if it works, you get a reward.
