Science/Technology / Supreme Court Of India Asks Central Bank To Prove Its Position On Cryptocurrency by owoblowsoon: 9:30am On Aug 22, 2019 |
TESTBOO.COM The supreme court of India has challenged the central bank’s ban of commercial banks servicing cryptocurrency business. The apex court has gone ahead to give the bank leaders time to justify their actions. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has barred banks from working with cryptocurrency exchanges and other crypto-based businesses since 2018. According to the most recent hearing on Aug 21st involving the RBI’s stance towards cryptocurrency operations, the Supreme Court ruled that the central bank had not sufficiently justified the ban. Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman of Supreme Court shared severe criticism for the RBI’s handling of crypto business in the country. Fali gave the central bank two weeks to come up with a justification for the continued ban. According to Crypto Kanoon on twitter the court order reads: "After hearing arguments we are of the view that detailed representations by exchanges purusant to this court's order 17.05.2018, have not been answered point by point, therefore RBI to reply them with in 2 weeks. SG to furnish various docs within 1 week" "Exchanges are not asking to uplift the ban but they are only asking you to reconsider. If you dont give answer to it, I will pass the judgment." "Mr. Sood reads out the suggestions given to RBI by exchanges. That Money laundering Act can be made applicable to exchanges as intermediaries making them responsible for reporting directly. or enjoining on banks to make additional requirements for exchanges." The hearing surfaced a month after an undrafted bill in July showed that the Indian government was considering an outright ban on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Is it wrong for couples to pray against pregnancy? It’s a question from Chelsea in North Carolina. “Pastor John, thank you so much for all that you and the desiringGod.org team do online. My question: Do you think it’s sinful for me to pray to not get pregnant? I love my children, but don’t think I can handle any more right now. My husband says it’s not a sin, but I feel so selfish praying this prayer, especially since God has closed my closest friend’s womb. TestBoo.Com Officers with High ranks in the Indian police are to be trained on cryptocurrencies and blockchain to help them combat the growth in criminal activities in these areas. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy which is in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, a major hub for the country's technology industry, will deliver a two-day course on "investigation of cases involving cryptocurrencies". Candidates for the training will be given an introductory course on the functioning of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. After this, they will be introduced to the legal aspects of digital assets and the types of crimes committed using them. Then finally on how to investigate such criminal activity. Indian regulators and government officials have become so weak on their quest for a legal framework for cryptocurrencies. NaijaPage.com Theme For David Jeremiah Devotional 8 July 2019 – LORD, USE THIS FOR GOOD! God meant it for good. Genesis 50:20 A new survey of 2,000 American millennials reveals that a third of them believe their lives are more stressful than the average person’s life. Some of the contributing factors to their stress levels include—being stuck in traffic, waiting for appointments, and having issues with their smartphones. For 41 percent of millennials, a damaged phone screen is more stressful than seeing a “check engine” light on their dashboard. Many of them felt stress when they got zero “likes” on a social media post, and 33 percent felt having their phone die was worse than a fraudulent charge on their credit card. About half the survey respondents say they don’t feel they deal with stress very well, and two-thirds would love to find better methods of coping with stress. For most of us, the small daily aggravations of life can feel like the straw that broke the camel’s back, and we all need better methods of coping. One of the best ways of dealing with trials is saying, “Lord, use this for good!” That prayer will work when we lose our credit card or when we lose our jobs. It will work when we’re stuck in traffic or when we hear of a friend’s illness. Maybe today you have a problem that can be handled by this simple prayer: Lord, use it for good. In God’s hands intended evil becomes eventual good. – Max Lucado Credit – David Jeremiah From NaijaPage - https://naijapage.com/david-jeremiah-devotional-8-july-2019/ |
Science/Technology / Paypal Director Says One Bitcoin Could Exceed $1 Million In 7 -10 Years by owoblowsoon: 9:42am On Apr 15, 2019 |
TestBoo.com Xapo CEO Wences Casares in an essay published on Kana and Katana last month, a research platform run by Ikigai Asset Management, said bitcoin may be worth more than $1 million in 7 to 10 years.Casares wrote: “In my (subjective) opinion those chances of succeeding are at least 50%. If Bitcoin does succeed, 1 Bitcoin may be worth more than $1 million in 7 to 10 years. That is 250 times what it is worth today (at the time of writing the price of Bitcoin is ~ $4,000),”According to Casares, a director at PayPal, investing in an emerging asset like bitcoin poses risks and it would be irresponsible for an investor to invest anything more that can be lost. He however emphasized that it would be almost as irresponsible to not have any exposure to BTC at all.An argument can be made that bitcoin has already succeeded. It has been operating for 10 years as a purely decentralized network of miners, node operators, users, and developers that sustain the Bitcoin blockchain protocol as a whole.Casares said that if bitcoin succeeds, it would not replace reserve currencies like the U.S. dollar but rather operate on top of or alongside reserve currencies as an alternative. He said: “If Bitcoin succeeds it will most likely not replace any national currency. It may be a supranational currency that exists on top of all national currencies. If Bitcoin succeeds it may be a global non-political standard of value and settlement,” By TestBoo - https://testboo.com/paypal-director-says-one-bitcoin-could-exceed-1-million-in-7-10-years/ |
Science/Technology / Lagos, Nigeria Looks To Crypto For Payments by owoblowsoon: 7:27am On Apr 14, 2019 |
@TestBoo According to data from Google Trends, Lagos, Nigeria is the number one city based on the volume of online searches for Bitcoin (BTC). This data indicates a high level of interest among the city's approximately 21 million people but it has yet to equate to tangible adoption of the emerging trend of technology.“Lagosians” who are aware of the existence of Bitcoin see the top-ranked cryptocurrency as a substitute for the United States dollar.Payment companies like PayPal do not allow Nigerians to receive money transfers from abroad which is necessitated by the notoriety of internet fraudsters in the country while other companies that offer such services charge high. This is making the city's growing freelancing community turn toward cryptocurrency payments. Many of the youth in the city, having battled with underemployment or unemployment, have sought to try their hands outside the traditional working environment. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reports that Nigeria's unemployment rate rose to above 23 percent in 2018. In a city like Lagos, many young university graduates can be seen making a living as freelancers, offering services from copywriting to website design and even computer programming.Given that many of their clients are based abroad, there can be issues with receiving payment for the work done. However, with a BTC wallet and a plethora of local exchange services, these freelancers can receive payments easily from clients spread across the globe.Apart from freelancers, business owners are also using Bitcoin, as well as other crypto-focused platforms, as substitutes for foreign currency and banks.Victor Alagbe, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Blockchain Strategist at OneWattSolar, an energy startup looking to leverage blockchain technology in boosting renewable energy adoption across Africa, in a message to Cointelegraph, said:“I see crypto taking up a strong position in the remittances space. It’s often cheaper, less stressful (in terms of documentation) and faster to send and receive crypto. Many younger folks in the diaspora are now leveraging crypto to send money back home. Some techies working remotely are also getting paid in crypto.”Nigeria has over 100 million active internet subscriptions. Science/Technology / Nigeria: Crypto Exchange Paxful Petitioned Against Over Account Closures by owoblowsoon: 8:37am On Apr 12, 2019 |
Paxful Inc. has been accused of defrauding many Nigerian investors of millions of dollars worth of cryptocurrencies through alleged arbitrary account closures. This is according to Punch on April 7th this year. The report says that the Nigerian non-profit organization United Global Resolve for Peace (UGRP) filed a petition on April 2nd with the country’s financial watchdog, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which outlines Paxful’s Inc.’s alleged malign practices and their impact on its Nigerian client base. Shalom Olaseni, UGRP executive director signed the petition which alleges that: “Cryptocurrency trading and exchange platform, ‘paxful.com’ has been ripping them of their life investment in cryptocurrency by suspending their accounts, deactivating their wallets and refusing to return the value in their accounts to them even after investigation and finding that they were not involved in any fraudulent activities.” The petition accuses the company of “willful disregard for contract and rules of commercial transaction” in failing to reactivate access to user funds even after purported investigations were found to be groundless. The petition also claims that Paxful generated $20 million in profit via the exchange in 2018, with Nigerian customers purported to have provided for 40% of the revenue from trades in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and other cryptocurrencies. A reported victim, Samuel Olanrewaju, told Punch that he had lost access to three BTC worth $15,750 as at press time since November 2018, claiming the firm had falsely accused him of creating a fake user profile, and refused to respond to his queries thereafter. Paxful has however denied that its account and wallet closures have been arbitrary, claiming in an email to Punch that “all accounts that have been shut down have a reason for it. We will not shut down any account unless they violate our TOS (Terms of Service).” Tony Orilade, acting EFCC spokesman confirmed with the news outlet that the watchdog had received the petition and would investigate the allegations. A senior fellow at libertarian think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute, John Berlau, has criticized the United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) approach to regulating cryptocurrencies. In a report termed “Cryptocurrency and the SEC’s Limitless Power Grab: Why Speculative Consumer Goods Are Not ‘Securities,’” Berlau claimed that blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are transformative innovations, potential of which has been stunted by “burdensome regulation.”Berlau stated that “among federal financial regulatory agencies, none poses a greater threat to cryptocurrency and the associated blockchain technologies than the Securities and Exchange Commission.”John argued that the government’s crackdown on the technologies prevents entrepreneurs from experimenting with novel approaches and applications.Berlau further argued that the SEC’s scrutiny could threaten the functionality of blockchain tech if the agency deems cryptocurrency a “security.” John went on to state that the SEC’s regulatory approach to cryptocurrencies could harm retail investors:“Deeming cryptocurrency as a ‘security’ could put cryptocurrency out of the reach of middle-class investors because of the same red tape — both from SEC regulations and from financial regulation laws such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 — that has hindered small investors’ access to stock in early stage growth companies.”The report also criticized the Howey test used by the SEC and Supreme Court to define whether transactions qualify as “investment contracts.” By TestBoo - https://testboo.com/john-berlau-criticizes-us-sec-approach-to-crypto-and-blockchain/ CC - Lalasticlala |

It is a small joint, nothing fancy. It is located in a Car Wash, off a busy road. No seats, no tables, not enough parking space (though you can order sitting in the comfort of your car) but they serve the absolute best shawarma ever and in a very clean environment too. All orders are prepared in your presence. Plus starting at only N800 it’s very affordable too. We all agree that the deliciousness of any shawarma depends on 3 things; the sauce, the chicken or beef and the pepper. The chicken and beef used in Jamal’s shawarma are none other than their super-delicious finger-licking grilled chicken and their well marinated beef suya. The sauce is just WOW; a unique blend made from a secret recipe and the pepper(optional) is seasoned out of this world. Their bestseller shawarma which is named JAMAL'S SPECIAL is just in a league of its own. It is a special suya/shawarma combination containing generous portions of beef suya, spicy grilled chicken, small amount of chopped onions, cabbage and sausage; all smothered in their delicious tangy secret recipe sauce and topped with a moderate amount of pepper(optional) then wrapped in soft warm pita bread! Trust us, we doubt you will ever try any other shawarma again once you have had JAMAL'S SPECIAL. Also If you are a beef lover then you can substitute chicken with beef for any shawarma. No need to go on hyping Jamal’s shawarma but would let you decide for yourself. You can even order via their handles Twitter: @Jamalschicken Instagram: @Jamalssuya Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jamalschicken Nigeria is a very sweet place to be ... much to enjoy. 1 Like 1 Share
