Not sure I understand the logic behind this, it could work if we ramp up on few things e.g.e-payment via mobile or web, mandatory use of cheque/atm over a certain amount of money etc.

The policy is not unheard of as some western countries will not let you withdraw money above a certain amount without prior notice to them and if you don't give them that advance notice you will pay a penalty.

The banks will eventually introduce some fancy account types that will avoid this penalty, I think we are in for interesting times and potentially a big mindset shift in the economy,

Quickest way to learn is to build yourself a website! there's tons of free info out there on the web, don't try to master everything, find what you enjoy and are good at and become excellent in it,

Good luck,

Webmasters / Re: Can You Please Review Www.njorku.com ? by oyadashme: 12:17pm On Apr 16, 2011
As your site is neat and clean I'd suggest having some visual aids like most viewed jobs, also your site is linking off to other job sites which are more establised/trusted than yours and there will be tendency for folks to stay on those other job sites and not return to your site

its a bit minimalist but not a bad effort at all,
Webmasters / Re: I Want The Best Jobs Portal In The Country: by oyadashme: 12:04pm On Apr 16, 2011
1- Keep it simple
2- Make sure the jobs are real
3- Make sure there is a constant stream of jobs
4-Make it easy to search and find relevant jobs
5- Make sure the site loads fast and is mobile friendly/compatible
Webmasters / Re: Nairaland - A Multimillion Dollar Company? by oyadashme: 11:59am On Apr 16, 2011
Nairaland.com is easily worth more than USD 1M,

As the internet revolution kicks in the valuation of the company will increase - potentially 10 times over.

The question is will Seun - cash out at the right time?

Webmasters / Re: What Is Web Development by oyadashme: 8:54pm On Jan 12, 2011
Not me!

But there are courses(maybe not in Nigeria) where you can learn web development in that time frame.

What you need to keep in mind is that you have to practice what you have learned in your own time i.e. its down to you to make the most of the training,
Webmasters / Re: What Is Web Development by oyadashme: 10:40pm On Jan 10, 2011
Depends if the 8 weeks are 9 full hours (Saturdays only) and you have a really good tutor and all the required tools and of course you are really interested i.e. will continue learning and putting what you learn during the week,

yes its possible to learn web development in 8 weekends, but don't expect to be a guru in that time period,

good luck
Business / Re: Need Help On Google Adsese by oyadashme: 3:29pm On Jan 08, 2011
@naijaspeak you need tons of traffic to your site to actually make money from google adsense, unfortunately some of the traffic generating methods are now illegal so you have to be careful otherwise google will disable your adsense account. But its not impossible

You can also get a good idea of how many people visit your site by using google analytics? Do you use google analytics? or any we traffic service and finally,

How are you currently generating interest in your site?
Business / Re: Need Help On Google Adsese by oyadashme: 7:37pm On Jan 07, 2011

check this out on wikipedia to get a better understanding

so ping a reply,

Programming / Re: "oracle",is It Losing It's Demand In Today's Nigerian Labor Market? by oyadashme: 5:30pm On Jan 02, 2011
Oracle isn't loosing demand and will actually continue to grow in the market(banks, insurance companies, telco, govt parastatals etc) this is due to the increasing sophistication of IT in the country. Also keep in mind that Oracle as a company is very aggressive and acquires a competitor or complementary product every 2 years! http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/22/technology/22oracle.html?_r=1

Experienced DBA's are hard to come by so you'll need more than just the OCP certificate to prove it and as someone else mentioned you might need another complementary programming language(Java,C# etc) to see you through the not so busy DBA periods i.e. if you're into contracting
Programming / Re: Should We Have "programmers' Conference" In Nigeria? by oyadashme: 5:06pm On Jan 02, 2011
its a good idea my simplest advice is to just get it going on a small(er) scale, have an organising committee (though this might backfire) create a blog or website if you don't already have one, set a series of dates and locations so people can attend. the locations don't have to be elaborate, just convenient cafe', restaurant someone's house, or even office etc,

Biggest advice is just do it,

and yes I'm interested,
Computers / Re: Is There Any Alternative To Paypal? by oyadashme: 9:24am On Jan 02, 2011
Yes there are alternatives to paypal,

www.moneybookers.com
www.xoom.com
checkout.google.com

I don't know if they now have restrictions on Nigeria,

I actually spoke with a paypal rep on this issue and the most she would say is that they are constantly reviewing the list of supported countries,

I'd suggest some of the big banks and companies in the country approach paypal directly to sort this out, Nigeria is still one of the largest transmitters of funds (will post the article when I find it) and in the long run they stand to make a ton of money out of it!

Good thread, but how about simply replicating what's already out there! But just for fun how about a service that notifies me when PHCN/NEPA will take light and bring it back? It can even be SMS based!

As it's an ebook you are probably on the best forum I'd advise

1- providing a sample chapter online
2- for a limited time period you can give it away or discounted value(30-50percent)
3-create a blog or even website to showcase your ebook

There are lots of other ways you can get the message out there -post your email address and I can help you out
