So sad! What a tragic death! RIP |

casualobserver: Cheap talk like this do pain me a lot. Are you saying that our road infrastructure, healthcare system, educational institutions, our standard of living, etc are now in anyway better than they were during the subsidy regime? That our economy is now attractive to investors than it was during subsidy regime? It is like you don't even know what you are talking in your mouth. |

Ritchiee:No, you are wrong. He said the money saved is physical and not what they would have borrowed to finance subsidy as you said. That is why he said the money is now being channeled to infrastructural development. If it was what would have been borrowed, the money wouldn't have been there to channeled to anything in the first place. So for him to say it's channeled into infrastructures means the money is real and not imaginary as you think. (Though there's no infrastructure anywhere in the country being seen that they use subsidy money for? |

Well, it's a very sad situation. I will blame the principal and at the same time blame the present administration of PBAT for this ugly situation in that school. Whether we believe it or not,the poor economic situation in the country has contributed to the poor quality of food served these students. Even in different homes of average Nigerians, you can't tell me that it's the same quality of food they were eating few years ago that they are eating in this era of "subsidy is gone". The 30k minimum wage they were getting many years ago is what they are still getting today while the prices of goods and services have increased by 300---400% due to poor economy policies of this regime. And you still expect them to eat the same quality of food they were eating before. No,it can't happen. So the same situation is what this Principal is facing. Remember, this is public school, and public schools charge very minimal amounts as fees compare to their private counterparts. And in public schools, the Principals cannot stay on their own and increase fees arbitrarily like that without government and PTA approval. I may not know the actual amount charged by this school, but I can qurantee you,it won't be above 100k per term. Now, you can imagine a situation were he collects 100k per head of student when a bag of garri was 28k,rice was 23k,grayfish was 48k per rappin. And now in this PBAT era, garri is now 120k,rice abt 92k, grayfish 230k per bag. While the students' fee still remains 100k as before,so what type of food do want the Principal to serve the students given the situation? I am saying this because I myself, I am a product of government boarding school. In our days (OBJ 2nd term) when the economy was not as bad as it's today,to some extend,we were "well fed" in the boarding house. For example, every Sunday morning, they served us one full egg with sliced bread and condimented tea. Because egg was affordable then. But I can tell you now, those children cannot eat one egg through out their stay in that school as far as this present administration is concerned.Egg is now #300 . So the poor state of Nigeria economy occasioned by poor economy policies of this government has contributed partly to the low quality of food am seeing in the video. Then to the Principal,he is not fit to hold a public office. Even in your house,no matter how hard the time is, you try to double your hustle as a man at least to feed your family well.Yes, the food may not be as qualitative as it should, but you can't feed your children with the type of soup you are feeding those students with. The quantity of garri is a bit okay. But you see that colour water you called soup, you deserve to be arrested for that. Now what should the principal have done if the boarding fee is too small and can't give the children good food again? He should have called for a PTA meeting and explained the current economy reality to them and the need to increase the boarding fee. I believe the PTA would have seen reason with him. Another thing was to send a memo to government through ministry of education about the dilapidated state of boarding facilities in your school and the need to upgrade them and need for government to increase the fee too to enable you meet up with the current market situation in the country. If he had done that, and the whole effort still fail to yield result, work transfer to day school to have peace of mind.Allow them to run their military detention camp in the name of boarding school by themselves. If he had done that,he would have saved his name and reputation. Lastly, the Perm Sec, Chairman State Sec. Edu.Board and the Commissioner of Education should equally be suspended and prosecuted along side with the Principal for negligent of duties. .............I paid an unscheduled visit to the school bla bla bla when I saw the video. How many of such unscheduled visit has she paid to different schools to check how things are being done and the state facilities and report back to governor for actions ever since she was appointed commissioner since Udom's administration till today? Na to sidon for office the chop chop money nah im them sabi. |

But I am still wondering why Islamic sharia law is allowed to operate in a secular state like Nigeria. The constitution of Nigeria clearly spelled out that Nigeria state has no religion. So where do the northern states derive their power from to govern part of Nigeria with Islamic law? If states down south that are predominantly Christians should formulate a law now base on their religion, how will Muslims in those states survive? |

nairalanda1:I know the poor state of economy Buhari left the country with. But your explanation above doesn't in anyway answer my question. What is this administration borrowing all these huge amount of money for? We are no longer subsidizing any essential things that the former administration was borrowing to do. Rate of taxation has increased. So what are we borrowing the money for and how does it impact on the life of average citizen? That's my question. 1 Like |

nairalanda1:Yes,I agree with you that Buhari is part of the problem we are facing now. But don't you think if Buhari borrowed to pay salary, subsidized fuel so we can buy fuel below #200 and electricity as you said, that his borrowing was very very beneficial to the masses? Now tell me what this present one is borrowing the money for and how does this his continuous borrowing benefit the masses? In this present administration,PBAT is not subsidizing any essential item for us..oo,but we are paying higher rates of taxes, price of fuel gone beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians, electricity tariff is on high side while the power supply remains epileptic. So what is his own borrowing for? |

Bunnatex:Ok,I am not Igbo. Your reasoning is very low. Did the president tell you he sacked her because she had already served for 5 years? So you think the Present didn't know she had already finished her first term before reappointing her for a second term? Or has the 5 year term president Tinubu appointed her for finished and she was still there that's why he feels she has overstayed and should go to give another person a chance? 1 Like |
