Business To Business / Re: Rechargeable T.v Now Available-never Miss T.v Programmes Or Match Again. by page9(m): 9:08am On Apr 08, 2012
@tommieen

Why do some of you advertise products to the public, yet you will refuse to disclose the price and expect people to call for d price you could have included in the advert ab initio?

My conclusion is that you are either a time-waster or you intend to exploit interested callers by charging different prices.

Whatever profit you have in mind can still be achieved when you drive the volume, if the price is display, more people will show interest and more money will be made.

@ sotech

Someone-a competitor question your exploitative price and offer to sell below 50% of your price and yet you did not think it is necessary to convince us why we should prefer yours to his.

All you keep posting is still available!

You need to convince us and proof that your product quality is superior otherwise....
Phones / Re: No Data Limits On New Mtn Nigeria Simple Surf Internet Subscription Plan by page9(m): 3:34pm On Apr 04, 2012
@ rman

Let me help you get the picture clearer (hope I can).

I started as one of the pioneer dealers with both MTN and Econet then. And I can tell you that we were able to sell more MTN Sim Cards to High networth people then than we did for Econet. Secondly, most corporate organisations bought the lines for their senior staff.

By implication, MTN was able to catch the "real money spender" then and this later reflected in unending demand for their recharge cards.

My point is Nigerians (rich or poor) are not getting a fair deal from all these gsm providers but MTN seem to be the worst.

The subscriber base of mtn may be higher but you and I know that most of the lines are not active. That is why most people carry multiple phones these days.

A friend of mine working with MTN admits there is a continous drop in number of active lines because people are getting wiser now.

You may not notice and they will not want the public to know they are loosing the ground but its a matter of time.

Those of us in the recharge cards business know that the demand for MTN recharge cards have dropped seriously from what it used to be.

Except they can think out of the box, they may not survive this arrogance for too long.

Business / Re: Why Is “now” The perfect TIME To Start Your Business? by page9(m): 10:56pm On Mar 29, 2012
@Jacob Ajayi

Very well said

Anyhow you look at it, you are better-off starting your own business early in life.

Yes! Fear of failure? It is true and real!

In actual fact, no serious businessman or woman can totally avoid failures.

Indeed, you need a dose of it to make any meaningful progress in your business.

Therfore, start that business idea you have been thinking about for ages as soon as possible.

Challenges will surely come but it will only make you stronger.

See the opportunities in your ideas and try and work around the obstacles.

A trailer load of patience and prayers are necessary for your success.

See you at the top

Why do people find it difficult to state the prices of their products or services?

It is the reason why most people buy.

For everyone that responds to your advert, 50 more would have made up there mind to buy or not.

It is to your advantage if you state your price(s). Except there is something you are trying to hide or you want your prices to be subject to negotiation
Business / What You Should Know About Charcoal Business Before You Go Into It! by page9(m): 9:02am On Mar 29, 2012
@all

Hi,

Charcoal business, as it is done here is not proper. I was thinking of going into the biz along with a couple of friends. But when I realise the degree of deforestation and environmental degradation going on to produce charcoal for both local and foreign market, I opted out immediately.

No one bothers about re-planting the trees. For every container of charcoal you see going abroad, over 500 or more trees may have been felled down without any consideration of what happens to the environment.

When the trees in one area have been completely depleted, they move to new areas and start all over again and again!

Unfortunately, no one seems to care. Corruption and lawlessness in our country makes such biz thrive unlike in develop countries where you are expected to plant more tree and you dare not cut any tree!

While there is nothing wrong in making money, we should think of the generations coming behind us and do nothing to make life difficult for them.

Let's make the world a better place than we met it. Most countries buying our charcoal have more trees than we do but they prefer to preserve their own.

Ask yourself, when last did you plant a tree?

Pple may not agree with me but I think there are better businesses we can do without hurting the environment

Coal is a better biz even though this has also contributed to erosion in the east. it is still a lesser evil.

I am a bizman but I am choosy in the line of business I do because I am responsible to God, humanity and the environment. I expect same of every businessman and woman.

My people, money is not everything o!!

Let us protect and preserve our environment for the coming generations!

Distributing fliers will surely boost demand but you need to do more than that. A house to house marketing may be a better option since your target mkt is within the estate.

Offer first trial promo! Give us 2 shirts to wash, we wash 3rd one free! You will be suprised by your success rate.

The profit is good if you have financial discipline

In a sane society, such advert would have been long gone off the airwave.

We know we have a handful number of kids on this thread at the least, we can detect that by the contents of their posts. Because most of them are still being fed by their parents it is difficult to see the difference between dreams and reality.

It is everyone's right to pursue wealth by value addition to the society.A meaningful, genuine and legal contribution to a larger society will pay you better on the long run. It is true that working hard may not be good enough but you also need to work smart in a way that is not injurious to the rest of the society.

But when all that matters is unbridled acquisition of wealth by all means and at all costs before you reach the target age of 24yrs which is what the advert set to achieve, only the wise can see in between the line. What elder see sitting down, a young lad on the 12th floor will not see.

Any society where get rich quick mentality hold sway will always have motion without movement. For me, I will be happy to offer valuable goods and services that could solve human needs and problems, then the society will have no option than to pay me very good money in return.

Imagine if I can get cure for HIV/AID? Or improve on existing products or services. You can be rich at any age but the focus should be on how to add value and not to be on the money.

In your pursuit of money, let happiness and peace of mind be your watch word.

Not all that glitters are Gold!!! Don't measure your achievement in life solely on monetary terms.

There are people in prison, mortuary and even in their graves all because they throw caution to the wind while in desperate search for money.

It is your right to make money but bear in mind that the Almighty must approve and bless it for it to materialise

A word is enough for the wise

@poster

Do you honestly expect anyone to give you a "genuine" list of buyers just like that?

Those who charge N150,000 for seminar will not give such info out! Because genuine buyers are not so easy to get therefore, everyone tends to guide his or her list jealously.

The more supplier a buyer has, the less he will be willing to pay. As the saying goes, competitions always bring the prices down.

Rather, I think you should re-phrase your request to "What strategy can I use to get foreign buyers myself?"

Best of luck

Bottom line, be creative!!!

your concept seems o.k

except that the buyer carries 100% of the risk!

In this situation, the buyer is expected to pay into your account instead of paying into Dangote Cement account using your distributor name as the depositor!

By the way,how much is he expected to pay into your account? N450k or N521k?

Secondly, I do know that at times, you may not get your ATC for several days after payment has been made!

I think the N10k margin you add is fair enough, provided there are no other hidden charges!

For me, the concept is good especially for distributors who don't have much capital or those who don't want to tie down their capital.

Why don't you put up your contacts on your post for interested people to contact you.

I sure can refer buyers to you if you can convince me on those issues i have reservations

@mrinfo

while I agree with everything you have said, i however disagree with the issue of locating a drycleaning outfit in an upscale area for a struggling newbie.

The reality is, those who can afford upscale enviroment must have enough money to start automated drycleaning immediately. Furnished office is a must to meet up with the taste and the environment.

We all know that investing in any business whatsoever is a risk!

Now, for a struggling investor, it is wise to start the business in an environment where your overheads will be minimal, in such an average or low enviroment cheap labour abounds, less money will be spent on shops etc.

As per getting jobs, the newbie will need to either employ agressive marketers who will go to the ''upscale areas'' to get the jobs. The marketers will be paid minimal salaries while their income will be performance driven by commissions earned on jobs secured.

Marketers come from as far as Ikotun Egbe, Abule Egba etc to secure drycleaning jobs from banks, hospitals, hotels etc in Victoria Island.

Some of my friends in a particular bank in victoria island gather their suits every fridays to be picked by a marketer from a drycleaning outfit somewhere in ibafo. The suits will be delivered by monday to the same office.

You will survive and beat your competitors better and faster if your overheads are lower and charges are moderates.

The import of my contribution is that, location is not a serious barrier in this business. In actual fact, you can start from your apartment and grow big time from there if you are determined to succeed.

It is a good business with minimal capital. All you need do is to get washerman and marketer if you can't market it yourself. Print business card and solicit for jobs through people you know first. Ensure you imbibe honesty and integrity in your dealings.

Drycleaning jobs are not difficult to get, just build your network of contacts. If you know any bank worker in any branch who can vouch for your integrity, then you can use him as your guarantor to get jobs from the bank and from his or her colleagues

This job is better than most paid employment becos it affords you of free time to do other jobs until demand is higher.

I wish all interested player in d business best of luck

Business / Developing Viable Business Idea? by page9(m): 12:47pm On Jan 14, 2012
DEVELOPING IDEAS

Clever product and service ideas are a kobo per dozen.

Everybody has one, and most of these ideas never get implemented.

The successful entrepreneur starts with a basic idea. This idea is first tested to staying power. Can it be used to grow a customer base, and will it be profitable?

The pseudo-entrepreneurial itch often ends before the basic idea gets tested. Studies show that a high percentage of people who open new businesses do so because they are frustrated with their current job.

They'll jump into any business venture that comes along without first checking it out.

Ninety percent of this group will go out of business in their first year at the most.

Those that make it are smart enough to recognize the symptoms of their emotional state.

They are acutely aware that they may be in a vulnerable position.

As a result, they may hang on to the security of their current job and start a business on the side.

They'll make the move to become a full-time entrepreneur when the time and the circumstance are right for them and after they have thoroughly checked out their business venture ideas.

There are three basic concepts to keep in mind as you develop and refine your business ideas.

Be Creative!

The opposite of creativity is rigidity. Entrepreneurs are not rigid in their thinking. If you cling to the old ways of doing things because "that's the way we have always done it," you'll never come up with the new solutions that are demanded by today's small businesses.

To test your creative ability, practice finding ways to tie together seemingly unrelated ideas.

Understand Every Problem
You must have a clear understanding of what it is you are trying to achieve and be able to identify the obstacles that stand in your way.

Break each problem down so that you understand it and know what you need to do to eliminate it.

For example, the problem may be that you need more space. Why do you need more space to make your business more visible, and what are the alternatives? An alternative may pose a new set of problems, but if they reduce the magnitude of the original problem, the alternative may be a more viable option.

Brainstorming

When you come up with a solution to a problem, brainstorm the solution with as many qualified people as you can find to avoid judging your own answer.

Accept modifications that make sense, and be prepared to replace the solution with a totally new and better alternative.

The key to the brainstorming process is to be objective.

Brainstorming is an excellent way to come up with a new set of ideas for new products, services, or improvements that could accelerate the growth of your "business in the making"

Can we safely say that byrron's dad had been a lazy bone before now and that is why he did not succeed before now as some ardent supporters would like us to believe.

Hi,

I believe the situation can still be salvaged.

Remember the Four P's?

Price, Place,Product & Promotions. Pls go and work on these four issues and you will see a positive turn around.

Moreso, make the entire South south your immediate constituency. Read and study more on marketing, it will help you more both now and in future.

You probably offer too much credits perhaps because you had invested too much money ab initio without testing the water.

Beyond what we can tell you now, in retrospect, you must also have noticed several wrong decisions you took, may be due to inexperience or bad advisers.

Whatever your situation write now, pick the pieces and move on!

The race to success just started for you and prepare your mind for more on your way. A dose of failures is often necessary to boost your energy on the way to success.

Most of those asking for free info on biz may very likely not make the best of it

Reading, having or knowing a good business plan is not as important as doing one particular one on a small scale and grow over time.

I mentor a lot of people about entreprenuership and I discover one constant traits in most of them--

90% of them want instant gratification, they want to start big, they can't stand the enormous and daunting challenges associated with business in this part of the world.

They do not set their priority right because they simply lack financial discipline.

Therefore, for those of you aspiring to go into business, ensure you learn a thing or two from the above

I don't have problem buying your hand-out or manual as you call it.

However, I believe more in having like 2 to 4weeks of practical training from how the products are sourced locally through to the processes required till the goods get to destination and how and when the exporter gets paid.

For me, I need an "active exporter" not a mere "manual experts".

I have bought several manuals including from one Chidi Ebere, all the manuals were full of trash!

Same for Seminars. I believe that for someone to be successful in any biz, you must learn the ropes properly not read the rope in manuals or one or to day seminars
