Business / Re: What Biz Can I Invest N100k Or N150k In? Pls Advise Me. by page9(m): 6:05pm On Dec 21, 2011
@yeyeforlive

I think you will make a good police officer both online and offline.

I will therefore recommend you as one of Nairaland Monitors.

On a serious note, some Nigerians are so desperate about money. Even when they pretend to
help you beware they are out to rip you off.

Some can hardly do anything for others free. They use Nairaland platform free and turn around to reap helpless and hapless people of the little they have in the name of e-book or seminars.

They claim will turn you into an "expert" in 30min of reading their e-book! Can you beat that?

May God save us from these poverty-stricken and conscience-less people. Their problem as I can see is poverty of the mind. Anyone who decieve to make money is doomed. Prosperity will always desert such people. They could have money in the morning, such money will depart before evening.

It is not a curse, it is law of nature.

We should begin to groom honest and ethical businessmen and women in this section.

Enough of these dubious people who have succeeded in rubbishing our collective global image and are making international business difficult for honest Nigerians.

Search your conscience and know where you stand.

Don't do unto others what you would not want others to do to you

Thank you all

Its food for thought

@Abu-Maryam

This person may have made the noney in a seasonal or not-regular business.

He / She could be leaving a business that is on the way to the grave.

The possibilities are many.

All I advise is to look and look again before you take the plunge and leap.

Secondly be convinced whatever business you eventually settle for is worth the trouble.
Business / Re: What Is The Best Way To Create Wealth by page9(m): 4:01pm On Dec 21, 2011
No, you don't create wealth when you make people rich!

A richman may not necessarily have to be a wealthy man!

A wealthy man is the man who add value to the society. For instance, the founder of toyota if alive could be considered a wealthy man because he became wealthy by solving one of the basic human problems-mobility!

By providing a vehicle that could help us move from one location to the other in comfort thereby adding value to our lives as opposed to trecking.

You create and become wealthy when you satisfy human wants and needs, provide solutions to human problems and challenges & add value to human existence through your inventions, creativity, products or services.

In that instance, people will be happy to part with their money to get whatever it is you have that can solve their problem.

We have a lot of rich fools in Nigeria who have never done any successful business or add any value and they are rich because they are good at stealing directly from public treasury.
You will smile to the bank if you sell drinkable water in a community of thirsty people.

But don't sell Tv to the blinds or ice to the Eskimos.
Creating wealth is not difficult if you are
1, Always hungry for business information and opportunities
2, If you have courage, passion and determination to succeed
3,If you are prepared to burn the brdges, take the plunge and take calculated risks in life

4, Above all, you must be a prayer warrior (whatever your faith) and have a trailer load of PATIENCE!

If you have all the above and you are still not wealthy then something is missing.

Remember being wealthy is different from being rich.

Wealth is not only in monetary terms.

Bill gate used to be the "richest" man in the world! Now, he is weathier because he has spent all his riches trying to add value to the less privildge all over the world. I am not sure if he is within the top 10 richest men again.

Can you look around you? What goods or services is scarce to get in your community or state? Have you noticed something that almost everybody in your area are complain of their inability to get it or someone is a monopoly of such product or service.

Is it something you noticed to have been done successfully by someone outside your community and you think similar condition obtains in your area and such business can be replicated.

Most of us have goldmine under our feet but we never bother to develop. If only you, you, can think!
Business To Business / Export Business by page9(m): 12:50pm On Dec 21, 2011
To all Serious and  Business-Minded people in the house. It has been my dream and passion to be a major exporter of agric produce and solid minerals in Nigeria.
Though I have had few discussions with some "experts" in the trade but I am not convinced that I have known enough.

I don't believe that one or two days seminar can turn me into an overnight expert.

I believe in practical and detailed understanding of a process and processes not crashed program.

I will be happy if exporters of agric produce or solid minerals (excluding charcoal-because of its negative effect on deforestation) in the house is willing to give like two weeks or more of apprenticeship on practical trainning (not theory) on how export business is done.

I don't mind paying for the training but the teacher should be an active exporter.

This will be appreciated immensely.

Please if you can be of help or you know someone who can help, do kindly drop your mail or phone number, better stil you can send me a mail on ddebayo@yahoo.com Or SMS/call 08189812914

God bless you as you come to my rescue.

Business / Re: Obstacles Are The Stepping Stones Of Success! by page9(m): 8:00am On Dec 18, 2011
The Message is don't give up on your dream, prepare to pay the price for enduring success not overnight success.

In addition, invest in yourself everyday. How? Either as an employee or Contractor, businessman, etc whatever your calling, people or the society will pay you for the value of what you can offer. Your connection can get you the first contract but the quality of your performance that can give you repeat and sustainable business.

Therefore, learn a little about everything as much as possible, read wide, acquire skills such as swimming, driving, running, marshal art, learn new languages (local & foreign) if you can, your knowledge of any of the above may determine whether you live or die.

Furthermore, believe and identify with a course within your society. Be it the the orphans, the disables, the widows, the down- trodden etc. We should not live a life of "My family, me,Myself & I".

Most rich people do not care about the poor in our society and that is why insecurity is getting highest allocation in the 2012 budget instead of Education,Health and Agriculture.

What do you expect when you have an army of intelligent (mostly graduates) youths that are unemployed? Instead of budgetting more for job creation, Govt at all level will prefer to buy more armour tanks and bullet-proof Jeeps!
Business / Re: What Is Fuel Subsidy? by page9(m): 10:43am On Dec 17, 2011
Seun, that is a lay man definition.

Subsidy is a way to hand over Nigerian to the cabal!

Pls read further to understand

A former U.S ambassador to Nigeria once said "Nigeria is blessed with all kinds of resources you can think of but the country is afflicted with bad, insincere and corrupt leadership".

These afflictions over the years are graually affecting the followers.

Now,we are fast having bad, insincere and corrupt followers. You can see poverty written all over some people even when they are financially comfortable. They call it "Survival Strategies".

I call it "Poverty of the mind" also known as" extreme greed" it defies economic logic that the more of something you have, the less the value you attached to it.But the greed in them will always take control.

People both in leadership and followership want to acquire and acquire wealth through corrupt means to the detriments of everyone and the country at large.

While I really would not want to subscribe to mass revolt because of attendant bloodshed that it could lead to, I do not think the Nigeria system and sructure as currently constituted and these present crops of politician(regardless of party affiliation) can give us the Nigeria of our dream except we find a means to get rid of them.

The few activist we know before joining politics are singing different tunes now that they are in corridors of power.

Oshiomole fought Military government and 2nd coming of obasanjo administration vehemently over this fuel Subsidy.Channels TV-lagos was fond of showings his analysis of artificial fuel subsidy. But what do we have now that he is in a better position to convince his colleagues in the Governors forum who were the first to support the removal because they want more money to steal!

No one is talking about the Corruption in NNPC. Why the refineries can't work? Where all the monies spent on the refineries since 1999 has gone? The landing cost template for imported Petroleum products? How PPRA headed by former PDP chairman and close confidant of Obasanjo-Ahamadu Alli  allocates licences?

In 2008-2009 when crude oil was at its highest- $145, Zenon oil was selling a litre of diesel at N65. But for about 2yrs now that the price has gradually come down to about $100 per barrel, one would expect a decline in diesel price locally, but the reverse is the case. As we speak, diesel sells for  N155-N160 per litre in Lagos!

I have a twin priviledge of being an economist and works within the oil industry. Most commentators about subsidy removal are ignorant of the key issues and I just laugh when people make uninformed comments.

Deregulation in itself is not a bad idea if there is a free market entry and exit. You may discover that some people may sell good quality imported pms, diesel and AGO at a price far cheaper than what NNPC can sell locally refined petroleum products here!

If you don't believe, good quality imported cement is cheaper than locally produced cement.Same applies in most industries because of poor infrastructures such as power thereby adding to local cost of production.

But a situation where only few people "Cabal" are allowed to do certain business and import certain essential items, such as petroleum products, Sugar etc. then what you will have is Monopoly, price-fixing and profiteering as it is the case with the petroleum products importers now.

What the Jonathan led govt is trying to do is to hand-over Nigerians to the so called "Cabal".

Most people think the "Cabal" will loose out if the subsidy is removed! But the contrary will be the case. In actual fact, the cabal will make more money because they can sell at any agreed fixed price among themselves.Once upon a time, Zenon oil was selling diesel at a far more reasonable price of N65 per litre  when crude oil was $145 but the cabal has since fixed it above N150. Just like what is happening in diesel market-fixed!

Same will apply to PMS and kerosene.

Rather than solve the real problem of corruption in the system, do a shake-up in the entire oil and gas industry including institutions like NNPC and DPR, address questions early asked about why our refineries are not working and allow anybody to bring in petroleum products without any licenses (as long as the standard quality is imported).
The last point may be difficult because I am a witness to how the cabal sometimes uses the the DPR & customs to muscle competitors who intend to import similar products and sell cheaper.

In the long run, Nigerians will have to determine their collective fates

I personally don't believe in "hotcake" business which to me is more like a "bandwagon" kind of biz.

You will do better and make more money when you are few doing a particular biz than when it appears your business is the only one everyone seem to be doing.

I remember d advent of GSM in 2001, then only few dof us were appointed dealers by the two prominent telecom companies then -MTN & Econet, few years later when the best profits have been made, lots of dealers came on board fighting for non-existing profit till date.

What most of us "early birds" made as profit in the first two years with less resources, new dealers are strugling to make half of it in 8yrs!

Therefore, I'd rather like to be a pioneer than follow-follow.

But require guts and ability to think outside the box if you want to be a pioneer in anything good and visionary. Your thinking faculty must be extremely active and energize to see beyond the ordinary

You will do well if you concentrate your effort on securing lease of private land from village heads of communities you find conducive. If your interest is lagos, you may need to zero in on 3 local govts namely Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu are the only areas you can get arable land in such quantity

State lands may be cheaper but govt officials will frustrate your attempt to get it except you know someone very high in ACN if the land falls within ACN controlled state.

But don't go with the mindset of getting the land free but some community may be willing to lease the land at ridiculously low fee provided you will generate employment for the villagers.
You may end up buying the land outrightly.

If you really want to do serious agric, lagos may not be your best bet because of the growing real estate
Market in Lagos. Most indigenes see land transactions as goldmine because of the value attached to land here compare to other states and when they lease to you, they are still looking for permanent buyers which may destabilise your long term planning.

Therefore, you will  get the land faster, cheaper and with long term lease.

States like Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi etc should be explored and I know (God willing) someone somewhere will come to your assistance.

FYI beware of scammers who may want to take advantage of you to scam you. They will come asking you to call or send mail to them so they can lease race course-Tafawa Balewa Square and Teslim Balogun to you to do your farming! Shine your eyes o

If you take a visit to village heads in the states mentioned above, it won't be difficult to secure a very good arable land. Best of Luck!
Business / What You Should Know About Charcoal Biz? by page9(m): 7:39am On Dec 13, 2011
Hi, Charcoal business, as it is done here is not proper. I was thinking of going into the biz along with a couple of friends. But when I realise the degree of deforestation and environmental degradation going on to produce charcoal for both local and foreign market, I opted out immediately.

No one bothers about re-planting the trees. For every container of charcoal you see going abroad, over 500 or more trees may have been felled down without any consideration of what happens to the environment.

When the trees in one area have been completely depleted, they move to new areas and start all over again and again!

Unfortunately, no one seems to care. Corruption and lawlessness in our country makes such biz thrive unlike in develop countries where you are expected to plant more tree and you dare not cut any tree!

While there is nothing wrong in making money, we should think of the generations coming behind us and do nothing to make life difficult for them.

Let's make the world a better place than we met it. Most countries buying our charcoal have more trees than we do but they prefer to preserve their own.

Ask yourself, when last did you plant a tree?

Pple may not agree with me but I think there are better businesses we can do without hurting the environment

Coal is a better biz even though this has also contributed to erosion in the east. it is still a lesser evil.

I am a bizman but I am choosy in the line of business I do because I am responsible to God, humanity and the environment. I expect same of every businessman and woman. Money is not everything o

It is never too late to stop the evil act and change for the better.

Anyhow you look at it, adultery is a grave sin.

Seek for God's and your wife's forgiveness.

I know it is not easy (in a morally bankrupt environment) to be faithful but with discipline and prayer it can be done.

Now, it is so easy to condemn people for their sins but most people here will d worst things if they were in his shoes.

Coming out to confess and talk about it shows he needs deliverance and instead of the Pastors in the house praying for him, you all are condemning him.

Don't you know that others like him are reading the thread and if condemnation is the only thing we can offer why should they confess?

My people, let us not judge so we will not be judged.

I believe we can give such people better advice than what I see here.

It is a daily struggle for married men to remain faithful with what we all see all over everyday. We are all temptations and sexual attack from them them,

The truth is, you will have to know a bit of all. You must be a good trader to be a sucessful manufacturer.

The real challenge is that to be a manufacturer of any Fast Moving Consumer Goods 3(FMCG) you probably have to deal with NAFDAC. Setting up smallest NAFDAC standard factory will gulp millions.

The only product I am aware you can produce without worrying about NAFDAC is paints (emulsion,anti-rust etc)
If you do not have "enough or sufficient resources (Money inclusive), then it might be wise to start with trading or offering services and after savings and experience in those areas, you can launch into production.
The services are usually easier to set up than trading while trading are far easier than manufacturing.
FYI, Dangote started from trading cement before he went into
its manufacturing.

His knowledge of the distribution gave him an advantage when he started the cement production.

If you have enough money, you may simply go into beverages or even pure water.
Forget about competition, if the population is within ur areaa, all you need is a good truck and reliable staff.
