As asked on www.fixmeblog.com Hi fixmeblog, i chose to be anonymous. I’ll start by saying, i am a pretty lady who’s got adequate body physique that anyone could desire. am a graduate from a prestigious university in Nigeria. i have a well paying job. But for a year now i am beginning to get bordered about something. I’ll be 30 in September and yet there’s no suitor. i mean, am not even in a relationship. i had a very good friend in my university years, the guy was all over me then, he was so nice to me, but i never wanted to get involved with anyone until after school. during NYSC i had a few well meaning guys trying to impress, but i never gave them a chance. Here at work, I’ve got colleagues who were singe but now married, they tried coming close at the slightest opportunity they had to talk to me but i guess they were too scared coz must f them are under me in hierarchy here in the office, I’ve moved out of my parents house because of the distance to the office, i stay all by myself in a neighborhood that’s relatively mind- ur-biznes settings. though there’s no pressure from my parents yet but that does not mean they are not thinking about it, as am the last of three, and my other siblings are not in the country but they are both married with kids. For a couple of years now my life has been from home to the office and back at home except for weekends when i meet up with a few friends at the gym, am always in my car and that doesn’t help too because it streamline the kind of people you meet. this didn’t use to mean much to me but it has become an issue now. please i need your advice on this. |

JoaquÃn GuzmÃn Loera, one of the world’s most infamous drug lords, escaped from his maximum security prison cell through a tunnel dug from the shower, Mexican security officials said on Sunday, creating an acute embarrassment for the government, which had trumpeted his capture less than two years ago as a crucial victory in the long and bloody war against the narcotics trade. The escape, which was discovered late Saturday, was the second time that Mr. Guzman â known as El Chapo, or âShortyâ â has broken out of jail. In 2001, he escaped in a laundry cart, the beginning of his rise from a powerful cartel lieutenant into Mexicoâs biggest drug lord.Officials said that he had escaped through a narrow opening of 50 centimeters by 50 centimeters that was dug from his shower. It linked up with a broader, much more elaborate tunnel that was 1.5 kilometers long, or about a mile, and about 33 feet deep that was connected by a ladder. Mr. Guzmán was being held in Mexicoâs most secure prison, the Altiplano, about 90 minutes drive from the capital. Police were deployed to watch all the roads around the area, and the nearby airport of Toluca was closed. MANILA, Philippines—The call came in the middle of a workday. My lawyer’s name flashed on the caller-ID screen, and there was no small talk when I picked up. “I have the court decision,” she said. She was literally holding my future in her hands, in the form of an annulment decision we had sought for four years. After opening the envelope, she rambled a bit, skimming the contents out loud to fill the dead air. Then she paused. “Petition approved. Congratulations!” she said. “You are now a free woman!” I had finally gotten out of my long-dead marriage in the devoutly Catholic Philippines, the only country in the world (other than Vatican City) where divorce is not legal. Two people can voluntarily choose to love, honor, and remain faithful to each other, but in the Philippines it is pretty much only through death, or the torturously long process of annulment, that they can part. I had walked out on my marriage five years earlier and had barely spoken with my daughter’s father for just as long, but on paper he was still my husband. I was a single woman, but I was not free. My name was only half mine—all my identification papers remained in my married name. Any major purchase I made would be considered conjugal property. If I got into a new relationship, I risked being charged with adultery and jailed. I was 28 when I left my husband, 29 when I finally decided—against my family’s wishes and without their support—to file for annulment. I was 33 when I received the court decision. And on the phone that day, I felt like the oldest 33-year-old in the world. Under Philippine law, two people wishing to end their marriage have limited options. They can file for legal separation, which will allow them to separate their possessions and live apart, but does not legally end a marital union and thus does not permit remarriage. They can file for divorce if they are among the estimated 5 percent of the population that is Muslim and is governed by the Code of Muslim Personal Laws. THE House of Representatives in the southern US state of South Carolina has voted overwhelmingly to remove the Confederate flag from the Capitol grounds. THE bill achieved its required two-thirds majority after a 13-hour debate, media reports said. The votes followed the bill’s passage by the Senate this week, three weeks after a shooting at an African American church killed nine people in Charleston, South Carolina. Photographs surfaced after the slayings of the white 21-year-old charged with the killings, Dylann Roof, showing him posing with the Confederate flag and prompting a drive to take it down from the state Capitol grounds. The flag was flown by separatist Southern states during the 1861-65 US Civil War, which was fought over slavery. Many consider it to be a racist symbol, but many white Southerners see it as a symbol of their heritage and a way to honour their ancestors’ sacrifices in the war. The legislation must now be signed by Governor Nikki Haley to become law. She had called for the removal of the flag after the shootings at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. South Carolina in 1860 became the first Southern state to secede from the United States, and the first shots of the Civil War were fired the following year in Charleston. The state re-erected the Confederate flag, which features white stars on a diagonal blue cross against a red background, on the Capitol grounds more than 50 years ago to protest the civil rights movement... crucifix sculpted in the shape of a hammer and sickle presented to Pope Francis in Bolivia has caused a stir among Catholic commentators. The Pope was given the item, combining Catholic and communist symbols, by left-wing Bolivian President Evo Morales. One Catholic bishop suggested that Mr Morales had sought to “manipulate God”. But while some reports said the Pope was taken aback by the present, the Vatican has played down any row. The crucifix was based on a design by Luis Espinal, a Jesuit Priest assassinated in 1980 by right-wing militia. Bolivia’s communications minister, Marianela Paco, told Bolivian radio: “The sickle evokes the peasant, the hammer the carpenter, representing humble workers, God’s people,” adding there was “no other” motive behind the gift. There are differing interpretations of Pope Francis’ thoughts on it. Some reports say the Pope was embarrassed, telling Mr Morales: This isn’t good”. For more go to: www.fixmeblog.com
