boludareli:You have limited and shallow thinking ability and conceptualization of ideas and phenomena. It’s evident in your choice of words and construction of your thoughts. There’s nothing wrong with democracy nor Presidential system of government. Everything is wrong, however, with the set of ijiots that have successively held power since 1999 at least; with the exception of men like Yaradua and Jonathan (to an extent). Since you are claiming to be as old as Methuselah, were you not here when Yaradua was in power? Did you not since his nationalistic, patriotic and objective approach to the use of his powers as president? This much reflected in his appointments and policies. Jonathan continued in that same line (to an extent). All this abuse of power which you are now lumping on the system of government, started with the tribalistic and bigotic Buhari and Tinubu has doubled down in same trajectory. So, if democracy was not wrong under Obasanjo, Yaradua and Jonathan, why is it suddenly wrong since Buhari took power and now Tinubu? How come you are not able to differentiate the fact that it’s the people involved that are the problem and not the system. No matter the system of government you adopt, a tribalistic idiot like Tinubu and Buhari will still find a way to abuse it for their sectional and selfish gains. |

Goldensword:Water Galleries in the 21st century? So instead of working on how to take water into people’s homes, Mba is building Water Galleries where people will go to fetch water with their buckets 🪣 and gallons like we are in the 1980s? Is that how it’s done in London and Paris where Mba takes his family to for vacation? And you want us to extol him for that? Fia! |

opamoses1:How many of it did he build and in how many locations? I ask because if Obi puts together all the money he spent on all the boreholes he built, he would build 3 of this. Again, your LG chairman could build a borehole with overhead tank because there’s light in Ketu. Is there light in interior villages of Sokoto? I like the fact Peter Obi is giving you people headache and causing you sleepless night. 29 Likes |

All these rofo rofo no really concern me. My own na make una sha deliver the project. I want to be able to drive from VI to Sangotedo through the Coastal road without facing Lekki-Epe Expressway traffic hassle. I want to be able to drive from Lagos to the East on the Coastal road without having to go through Benin and others. That’s what I want. Expecting Tinubu and his gang of criminals to do a project without chopping inside is like expecting a lion not to eat the goat placed under its care; and that would be the height of foolery. 13 Likes 6 Shares |

The point is that while you lots are on Nairaland arrogating yourselves the job of spokespersons for the north, the real northerners are noticing what is happening and are getting impressed. Now your silly propaganda of Peter Obi hates the north will no longer stick. See you in 2027! 49 Likes 9 Shares |

Peter Obi has reacted to the criticisms of the quality/standard of the borehole he’s doing in the north by supporters of his opponents. This was made known by one of his close aides Ibrahim Abdulkarim on social media. If the boreholes Peter Obi is doing are substandard and of poor quality, we challenge you and those you worship to do something better that will make his own look inferior. Don’t just sit and criticize, put your money where your mouth is. PO at the Palace said, he wants people to be angry with what he's doing and start doing better ones, big boreholes to make his look inferior. He said we have more than 10,000 people who are well to do, if each will do 10 boreholes, that's 100,000 boreholes in Ramadan alone. Wisdom. Ibrahim Abdulkarim 157 Likes 14 Shares

Lizzysamuel:Instead they will cover their faces in shame and beg Obi to extend his borehole bonanza to their village, they would follow what they were told to do in their WhatsApp group. Like someone said, how come the Ogun state that they claim has the IGR of Dubai and Switzerland put together can’t provide drinking water to their rural dwellers. Now, if Dapo Dagboru couldn’t do it, why didn’t the urine dispenser that they worship do it. None of them cared about those people but they dare not call them out. Pathetic |

Ttalk:You people talk a lot trash and lies trying to justify a lie. If you are going to install Solar powered overhead tank borehole, you are going to need Sumo to pump the water. We all know how some Sumo can break down sometimes. What of the electricals in the powerhouse? All these can break down and require repairs. These are things that a manual borehole will never require. How dare you sit here and claim that Solar Powered boreholes are the cheapest to maintain? 1 Like |

Before I say anything further, I want to ask, how are boreholes built in the rural areas without electricity in the part of the world you come from? One thing I’ve come to realize is that a lot of people who criticize Peter Obi do so, sometimes, out of pure malice or out of sheer ignorance or both. Seeing what Peter Obi has been doing in the north where he has been providing boreholes to rural communities to give them access to clean water, his opponents, fearing he might start getting more popular in the north, have started sending their attack dogs and paid propagandists to try to denigrate the little efforts he is making. What they have started doing now is to post pictures of Obi’s projects and ridicule it as small or substandard or whatever comes to their mind. That’s how they’ve been criticizing the one he commissioned in Zaria. But the one that irked me is the attempt to also criticize the manual borehole Obi donated in Sokoto. And I want to ask, what is wrong with a manual borehole? Is it that these guys are children of the rich who have never experienced life in the rural areas? Or are they being outrightly malicious and wicked? I ask because those of who grew up in the village where there is no electricity know that overhead water tanks is luxury. I call it luxury because if you build a borehole with overhead water tank where there is no electricity, you would have to provide such people with power generating set to enable them be pumping water from the borehole into the tank. Now, with provision of power generating set comes the expenses of providing gas for the generator. Now, it is either the donor will be providing gas for the generator for life or until such a time that someone takes over the responsibility or the expenses falls back to the villagers. Imagine the expenses of buying fuel for generator falls on villagers who are merely scraping through life, how long do you think they can sustain it? What if the generator breaks down? Who will pay for its repair? The above headaches are what manual boreholes eliminate. Once they are set up, just go and push the handle and get water out. These boreholes take no extra expenses and are even more durable. Now, this is what somebody is criticizing, and that’s why I’m asking, what is wrong with the borehole? And show us how boreholes are constructed in your rural villages where there is no electricity. 8 Likes 2 Shares

anonymous1759:Core Northern votes was divided by Atiku, Tinubu and Kwankwaso which reduced the power it would have had in the last election. Obi won without the northern votes like Obasanjo did in 2003 and Jonathan did in 2011. I don’t expect you to admit your urine dispenser rigged the election, like I said, what Obi is doing now is to make the next election unriggable for Tinubu. |

LegendHero:First of all, you need to understand that this is a village without electricity. So, if you build a borehole with overhead water tanks for them, you would have to provide a power source for pumping the water. Now, if you provide a power source for pumping the water, you have imposed extra expenses on the community because they’d have to consistently tax themselves to get funds to purchase gas and power the generators that they use in pumping water. That’s where these manual boreholes come in. They do not require electricity to function and therefore you don’t need overhead tanks. You just get there and pump your water out. This reduces further expenses for the community and even lasts longer. So, now, tell us what you think is wrong with the borehole. And secondly, show us how boreholes are built in the villages without electricity in the part of Nigeria you come from. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Peter Obi’s recent efforts in trying to provide boreholes to some rural communities in the north that has never had access to clean water in decades has seen his opponents deploy their foot soldiers, both online and offline (maybe), to try to downplay the little efforts Obi is making towards bringing succor to this people. Some have criticized the quality of the project while others have been digging out reports of scarcity of water in areas of southeast and querying why Obi is not extending same energy he is spending in the north towards the southeast water problem as well. Now, about Enugu…. Anyone who’s not a child will remember that the news of water scarcity in Enugu has become a yearly reoccurring issue/problem which sometimes dominates trend tables on social media. What I’ve come to realize is that a lot of people do not know why there seems to be perennial water scarcity in Enugu which is I’ve decided to educate such people in this piece. Historically, Enugu city was established as a coal mine settlement. People migrated from different parts of the east to settle in Enugu and work in the coal mine. Now, if there’s a coal mine in Enugu, it means that there’s coal deposits in Enugu. The implication of this is that the Enugu Metropolis is sitting on top of coal. Because of the coal beneath the soil, therefore, it is literally impossible to drill a borehole and get water in nearly all parts of the metropolis. Even beyond the metropolis, areas like Ozalla in Kanu, Awgu, and even 9th Mile and Udi are not able to get water from drilling a borehole. This is where the Ezeagu Water Scheme came in. Now, Ezeagu is more than 70 kilometers from Enugu city and has boundary with Anambra. So, because it’s far away from the area where there are coal deposits, it’s more possible to get water from drilling a borehole there. This was why the Eastern Regional Government of the time built a water project there and laid more than 70 kilometers of pipe from Ezeagu to Enugu metropolis and then channeled it to different homes. The problem however, is that through the military regimes and since the return of democracy in 1999, successive governments left that water project to rot away and residents, over the years, resorted to providing water for themselves where they would to pay Water Tankers to bring water to their homes. Another source of water is Wells. You are surprised that Well is a source water where borehole does not bring water, right? Well, it is so because Wells are shallower, they do not get to the coal deposits beneath the ground where the water disappears because Coal is not a compact rock. Now, during the dry season, most of these Wells dry up which heightens the problem of water scarcity for those who can’t afford to pay for the services of Water Tankers. Another problem that the city has also faced as regards water scarcity is that because of government laxity, as the city has been expanding, there has been no provision of water pipes through the new roads that have been built since the days of regional governments. The implication of this is that even if you get water running into Enugu City from the Ezeagu Water Scheme, not every part of Enugu will have water since the pipes that will channel water to their areas has not been laid. So, they would have to fall back to the government and wait for them to make such provision before they can start getting water. It’s becoming confusing, right? Well, that’s how intricate and complicated the Enugu Water situation is. Now, what are the solutions? The first solution is the revitalization of the Ezeagu Water Scheme to ensure it’s working at its optimum level and sending water to the metropolis through the over 70 kilometers distance of pipe. Peter Mbah, the current governor, promised to do that in 180 days of his assumption but that promise has been a mirage nearly one year later. Secondly, government needs to embark on massive laying of pipes in the new areas that have developed since the last time that pipes were laid in the city. These laying of pipes will now help channel water to the homes not previously captured before. Thirdly, government should embark on building another water scheme similar to the Ezeagu Water Scheme but at a place closer to the city. I think there’s water in some parts of Nkanu which would definitely be closer to the city than Ezeagu. What this will do is that it will now provide more than one options through which water is coming into the city and will now be channeled to the newly developed areas not captured in the old water scheme. Now, as a Peter Obi critic, tell me where Obi should have come in here. Obi has never governed Enugu. Neither is laying of several kilometers of pipe to capture several streets of Enugu a thing that can be done by private individual. If he lays pipe through the streets, where is he going to get water to run through them into the homes? And sometimes, laying of these people can cause destruction of property that sometimes result to court cases which is why no private individual embarks on it because only government has the powers to destroy a property (when necessary) for the greater good of the greater number of people. In a nutshell, the problem of water scarcity in Enugu will require multiple billions of Naira (or even dollars) to solve. It would also require government will power and dedication without which any attempt at solving the problem might be abandoned halfway. This is the reason the water problem seems to have defied solution through successive governments. That not even Sullivan Chime, despite his stellar performance in Enugu, could arrest the water problem. So, next time, before you criticize Obi for abandoning Enugu in water scarcity while providing boreholes for the north, think again and know that you are being unreasonably and illogically harsh on him because while Enugu water problem is a problem that would require billions to solve, erecting a borehole anywhere in the north only requires you to drill the ground and you get the water running out which is easier and requires lesser funds. LegendHero:Rest from misinformation. Because while you are here talking plenty, Obi is making inroads into the north. Now, to the report you are using as reference…. First of all, you can’t drill a borehole in Enugu because water will never come out due to coal base of most of Enugu. That’s why there’s general water problem in Enugu metropolis. Second, the report said people are turning to stream water due to high cost of water and not only because of unavailability. Is Peter Obi the governor of Enugu that will make water cheap for Ndi Enugu? Then lastly, Peter Obi needs not do anything in Enugu to get the votes of Ndi Enugu because even he sleeps with somebody’s wife in Enugu, Enugu people will still vote for him. So why bother himself about a region he has in the bag. |
