Politics / Re: US Refuses Visa To Unruly House Of Reps Member by perenren: 3:31am On Apr 10, 2013
F.Y.I. This particular lawmaker/lawbreaker will not be visiting the U.S. anytime soon. For him to act like that at a critical time when the Dept. of State is revoking visitor's visas of Nigerian politicians/lawmakers shows that he really doesnt have a clue about what is going on. About 38 of them are on the current revocation list and another 43 are being added after the pardon given to a former governor. Mind you, some of these people have been going to the U.S. over the years and some even have 10yr multiple visas .

@amiskurie: Bolaji Basia and K1 grew up together. They were childhood friends. Bolaji did not sell his
house to Wasiu (K1). You probably saw wasiu every now and again coming to the house but Bolaji didnt sell
it to him. There is no way i can explain it better to you without spilling peoples private affairs on the net.
If you are so interested to know the facts , make the effort to find out off-line.

@amiskurie: This house belongs to Bolaji Basia. And for your information K1 does not own 4 houses in Canada.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Am Tired Of Life by perenren: 1:58pm On Oct 08, 2012
Snap out of any crazy thoughts of being tired of life. Remember you said you have a wife and kids.
Your story reminds me of the story of a man who was getting ready to hang himself. He has the noose
around his neck and he decided to eat one stick of banana which was his last possession in life.
He ate the banana and threw the peelings away. He saw a very poor and hungry man picked up the banana
peeling and start to eat it. Our man immediately took the noose off his neck because he realized that
no matther how bad he thought life was to him, other people are going through worse situations.

@Kez007, please dont get distracted by people who have no knowledge of the intricacies of major construction projects in the U.S.
You will waste valuable time by responding to them. Continue to educate us about the technicalities involved in this project. Your distractor/s
probably have no clue that MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC cannot go into construction sites in the U.S. due to "Liabilty Insurance" reasons; talkless of
being able to furnish us pictures from '' Hard Hats Only" areas. The updates & notices posted on the hospital site is for informational and convenience purposes only and is quiet different from the technical knowlegde you`re sharing with us here.

I was tempted to start a thread of the construction of a mixed-use 6 family plus 4 stores here in N.Y.C. a few months back, but its because of people like your distractor/s that made me change my mind. I believe a lot of people would have gained some knowledge and insight as the construction progress, not to mention that i would have learned a lot from people's input as well. I am waiting for the D.O.B. to do a final sign off on the electricals and fire sprinkler systems and the subsequent issuance of the final C of O as the project was completed a month ago.

Please continue the good work that you are doing.
Properties / Re: How Close To The Atlantic Ocean Is Too Close? by perenren: 5:36am On Sep 11, 2011
Well, 4 of the 6 scientific agencies that make up the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administartion (NOAA) of the U.S. did discover a very high possibilty of ocean surge happening on the Sekondi/Takoradi thru Malabo stretch of the Gulf of Guinea with the most damage happening on the lekki-ajah area of Lagos Nigeria. They sent courtesy warnings to the countries that fall within this stretch of the gulf. As you may be aware, this same agency sent advance warning to Japan before disaster struck. In answer to your third question, nothing can be done to prevent these ocean surges (climate change) in the future as no amount of money or technology can control mother nature. The sooner we start evacuating from these area the better.

This thread reminded me of a funny quote from the late Gen.Maman Vasta (may his soul rest in peace)
Hear him, " The krobulem wit agirikalture in this kountiri is too muchi girama, too muchi girama''

Babangida could have spared the life of his 'friend' Mamman Vasta but he was too power drunk to commute his sentence to jail time.
Ironically, Domkat Bali, who was the most senior of the lot and who could have advised against the execution was too scared and docile to make any impact in the whole saga. CONSCIENCE is what is catching up with Babangida at his old age. He wasted too many innocent souls.
Travel / Re: Nigeria Will Reciprocate Visa Denials And Delays – Gbenga Ashiru by perenren: 3:13am On Jul 30, 2011
The minister should pay a ''disguised" trip to the Nigerian consulate office in New York and see how the staffers give preferential treatment to foreigners (especially white people) at the detriment of Nigerians. The staffers can be seen attending to the whims and caprices of the foreigners while Nigerians where made to wait for longer periods of time before being attended to. Most of these Nigerians travel to the consulate from locations far from Newyork. My friend and i took the liberty to covertly record on camera and document two instances of consulate staffers giving preferential treatment to foreigners (whites).
Properties / Re: People Be Carefull With Surveryors by perenren: 8:46pm On Jun 11, 2011
I was in a similar predicament a few months back. In my own case, the surveyor collected a total of 9m with the promise of giving me 9acres from the supposed land he will get from the land owners. Needless to say he did not give me any land and he has only refunded 3.5m up to date. This is a registered surveyor mind you. So be careful.

The American government has once again demonstrated its resolve to bring people to justice no matter how long it takes.
This is one country that will spend $1000 to get to the root of 1cent issue. I commend president Obama for fulfilling one of
his campaign promises. Good job bro. You got my vote next election.

Politics / Re: I'm Predicting Buhari Will Win On Saturday! by perenren: 5:53am On Apr 16, 2011
I was amazed at what i found out at a department of state`s organised symposium in D.C. last week about the presidential elections in Nigeria. What really baffled me was the amount of dossier western powers keep on all the presidential aspirants. I wish every Nigerian has access to such detailed information. Mr. Buhari was regarded as the best of the lot despite the fact that he was once a military ruler. Mr.Ribadu came second on their list. The western powers didnt even care whether he was a muslim or whatever. They apparently know more about our leaders than we do. Its an irony that they spend so much money and time garnering information on our so called leaders. The information they have on Mr. Buhari dated back to decades before he even became the head of state. I was shocked when they mentioned that Chief Awolowo would have turned Nigeria around if he was voted into power. They believed that Buhari is not corrupt at all
and that the lot of the poor and suffering Nigerians will improved if Buhari was voted into office. I respect the Americans for their tenacity in collating these information over the years.
