Yorubasgreat:Would you like a doctor to administer on you an expired drug or drug that has lost its potency? That law has been repealed (amended). If they pretend not to see the amended version, it doesn't make it inapplicable. The time has come when we don't have to rely on pastors or churches. It's time to worship in spirit and truth, personally. Nigeria uses the amended version of the 1999 constitution, and never will you hear a lawyer using the first 1999 constitution or a judge delivering judgment upon the repealed law. |
Religion / Re: Help! My Pastor Hates Me! by Peritus(m): 9:45am On Apr 24, 2016 |
But that doesn't mean Christ hates you. You see, our reliance on pastors will always disappointed us. First, examine yourself and know if you are wrong in any way. Pray for the pastor, and if you feel you are spiritually hampered in the church, or that the pastor is not living a true life, then leave the church for a better one. Worship of God is spiritual and personal, so let no one confine you to certain doctrines or certain place where you can't grow in spirit. |

My only problem with what you wrote above is that you alluded that it wasn't inspired by God. This makes me wanna ask if you actually know what divine inspiration is, and how you arrived at that hasty conclusion. |
Religion / Re: Forgiving A Rapist: Does Jesus Call Us To Forgive Even Something This Terrible? by Peritus(m): 9:16am On Apr 24, 2016 |
Christianity is spiritual, only those who walk in the spirit can be true Christians. If you are not a true Christian, you can't forgive and you can't love truly. Imagine this: You are to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and PRAY FOR those who persecute you. Mtt.5:44. This means that if someone persecutes us, it's not enough to let the person go, but to pray for him. If one hates us, it's not enough to avoid or ignore such person, but to do good to such person. When we have this kind of love that comes in union with Christ, it will be easier to forgive others. The life of Jesus surprises me. When he was crucified, in anguish, he did not curse those who crucified him, instead he prayed for them and forgave them. We should do the same. "Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing". |
Religion / Re: 8 Ways On How Not To Be Distracted In Church On A Sunday. by Peritus(m): 8:26am On Apr 24, 2016 |
Your mind is the battle ground of your body and spirit. Distraction is not always external, it could be within one's mind. One can be in the church bodily, but in his mind, he could be in another state or even be fantasizing of his presence in a Utopian world entirely. Every Christian should train his mind to be focused, and to yield to the spirit, not only in church but also while praying. In addition to the listed, make sure ur mind is firm. You don't have to dwell ur thought on every thing that crosses ur eyes. 4 Likes |

The old law on divorce has been repealed by Christ. Matt 5:31,32, "It hath been said that whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement. But I say unto you that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication causeth her to commit adultery, and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced, committeth adultery. 3 Likes |
Religion / Re: Is This The True Face Of Jesus Christ? (photos) by Peritus(m): 3:20pm On Apr 23, 2016 |
Science can decide to bring out whatever they please, that doesn't change who Christ is. You are talking as if we are drawn to Christ because of his cuteness, or that we are obsessed about his looks. Scientists have always been trying to put religious facts on a scientific scale in a bid to sweep out those things that don't agree with science, or rather the thing that are incomprehensible to them that don't walk in the spirit. They come out with their own postulations to justify immorality, still tagging same to religion. They attack Christianity, but are seriously obsessed by it and always marvel at the mysteries imbedded therein. Op, repent. 1 Like |
Religion / Re: Free Will And Divine Plan = Irreconcilable And Incompatible. by Peritus(m): 3:03pm On Apr 23, 2016 |
There is divine plan and there is free will. Because we are in the world and mostly ruled by flesh, we usually take a detour from the plan. God doesn't force people to follow the divine plan, rather, he expects us to seek him for direction. The only way we can know the plans of God for us is if we truly walk in the spirit. However, when we pray and insist on our way, He answers because He promised. Remember that God's plan was not for the Israelites to have a king but they insisted and He gave them king. It wasn't God's plan that man shall fall. Man applied his free will and fell, but out of God's love, He came to our rescue. Several times when we pray, we do so out of flesh. That's why we are normally selfish in prayers. Paul said in Colossians 1:9 "...I desire that you be filled with the knowledge of His will in wisdom and spiritual understanding." This is a prayer all Christians should always say, replacing 'you' with 'I'. Again, one of the reasons why we are given the gift of tongues is to help us pray for the unknown, and pray rightly according to His will. Romans 8:26 says "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered" in articulate speech. There is a divine plan; there is a free will, but our free will determines whether we will work in accordance with the plan. Jeremiah 29:11 says "I alone knows the plan I have for you, plan of good not of evil...to give you the expected end" |
Religion / Re: The Christians' Dialectic : Is Telekinesis God's Given Gift Or Demonic ? by Peritus(m): 10:00am On Apr 23, 2016 |
Seeking such power is abhorred in the Bible, and is not a gift from God. It's not miracle coz miracle is geared towards a good cause. Lifting objects without touching them for no just cause is not miracle. God doesn't deposit powers in humans, rather, he exercises His power through humans. It's only the devil that makes humans feel endowed with powers and bloated with conceit and haughtiness. Every miracle or exercise of esoteric or ethereal powers must glorify God. If the glory is attracted to the human, or that the exercise is nothing but a show off, then it's called MAGIC. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Avoidhellfire:Dont spend your life in criticism while others are busy growing in spirit. Loving the world does not mean you shouldn't look good. It's an error built upon extremism when people come out in rags, looking like pale corps simply because they don't want to love the world. You may equally say that buying fine shoes, cloths, using perfume, body cream etc are loving the world. To love the world is to give more attention to or dependence on the things of the world and not the issue of using or not using thing of the world. You should rather be careful to avoid being judgmental, or worse still, hateful. 3 Likes |

Religion / Re: Can Someone Help Me With This Part Of The Bible That Is Confusing Me? by Peritus(m): 8:18pm On Apr 22, 2016 |
lordnicklaus:So is this kind of prayer vain? Asking for more than one thing in a single prayer is not just usual but ideal. Check the Lord's prayer. Vain repetition is like chanting a word or line. When you are chanting, you are not communicating. Christ is saying that he does not have hard hearing syndrome. He hears even our deepest thought. That's why you can pray without speaking a word. It does not mean that one should rather be counting his words or statement while praying. Just don't pray with crafted repetitive lines. It is even advised that you don't form pattern so as to allow a free flow of discussion, and to allow your spirit to be directed. Pray with your heart... just as you don't discuss with your dad using patterns. |
Religion / Re: Is It Fair That A Mere 70 Years Of Sin Be Punished By An Eternity In Hell? by Peritus(m): 7:51pm On Apr 22, 2016 |
Op, if I should respond to ur question the way u asked, I would ask you why is it that one is jailed for life on a murder committed in two seconds. It appears you don't know what sin does. It corrupts. So it's not about the number of times or years, but just that a corrupt material is inadmissible in heaven, hence, someone who was righteous for 79 yrs but slipped away two days before his demise would not make it, while one who prostituted for 88yrs but repented two minutes before her exist has her next abode in heaven. |
Religion / Re: Can Someone Help Me With This Part Of The Bible That Is Confusing Me? by Peritus(m): 7:18pm On Apr 22, 2016 |
Op, someone had already done justice to ur question. The Bible gave example of the heathens and how they pray, and unfortunately some groups in Christianity pray the same way. This is when you have to repeat the same word or phrase severally as a form of prayer and not when you ask the same thing severally. What the verse is saying is that your repetition does not intensify your prayer, neither does it force it into God's ears. When you pray, don't craft your prayers into certain words, don't keep saying a particular thing to draw God's attention, speak to Him as you speak to your father. How do you discuss with your earthly father? Do you keep saying, "buy me a car! buy me a car! buy me a car! buy me a car!?" You can imaging how annoying you would sound. Do you think that you earthly father listens to you more than God? No. However, you can still ask you dad for it a number of times, like reminder... you can still have a thirty minutes chat with him on the same subject (purchase of car). Pay attention to the word "vain" before "repetition". When you vainly repeat, it means you are just chanting not praying. 1 Like |

1. "Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces". Who alone do we we serve; who gives grace? 2. "The soul which recommend itself to me...". To whom do we belong? To whom should we pledge our lives? Bro, pick your Bible and read, it will surely help you. I don't ask that you drop what you believe in, but please take a deep walk in the scriptures especially the records of the new covenant (new testaments). Pray the Holy Spirit to guide you in the journey. Make your heart teachable, then do whatever the scripture directs you to do, dropping whatever that doesn't agree or that negates the scriptural truth. |

I'm less concerned about churches. I'm more concerned about worshiping God in truth and in spirit. If we thicken the denominational wall, we can only grow more hatred on each other in total disobedience of the main injunction to love. |

alphyberry:It is wrong to see alcohol as sin in a bottle. I gave example of somebody whom the doctor told to be taking a glass of wine daily for his heart. Some extremists would cast and bind. A sister was advised to take a shot of shnapp to induce breast milk. Some have taught that alcohol is a spiritual poison, forgetting that it could save life. The same way some people came off against blood transfusion, wearing foot wears etc. The underlining factors are: small quantity and good cause. Both go together. 1 Like |

sarzy:Don't mind him. That is how people take off on the lane of extremism. Christ was clear in His words and the whole new testament is enough to adumbrate his words. I could remember when some extremists said that computer was "devil's box" and a ploy to sway believers. Now, they all use it for good. Extremism is as bad as lukewarmness. |
