Politics / N2billion Placed Into Babatude Fashola’s Proposal, Senate Questions by petermaryv32: 11:02am On Feb 15, 2017
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola could not explain how N2bn ‘walked into his proposal’.
However, Fashola denied knowledge of the N2bn allocated to Regional Housing Scheme in the 2017 budget proposal of the ministry.

The minister, who appeared before the committee to defend the proposal, referred the lawmakers to the Ministry of Finance for information on the controversial item.

The item was labeled FMOW99934089.

“I know as much of it as you do,” Fashola told members of the committee.

He further noted that he had no knowledge on the N2bn allocation as it was discovered in the proposal after it was worked upon by the Ministry of Finance.

The Chairman of the committee, Senator Barnabas Gemade, requested that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, be invited to explain the insertion of the allocation.

The following conversation ensued between Fashola and Gemade during the budget defence:

Gemade: Finally, what is this provision of N2bn for regional housing scheme? What is regional housing scheme? Where is it taking place? What is happening? Have you seen it on Page 18?

Fashola: It is not our project. It came in from, I think, the Budget (Office). It is a Ministry of Finance initiative; saying that they want to do what they called ‘family homes’. It is not from us.

Gemade: Yes, but they have put it here; otherwise, we will not be in the position to accept it.

Fashola: I know as much of it as you do sir.

Gemade: But you are here to defend this budget in totality......COMPLETE DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/15/n2billlion-placed-into-babatude-fasholas-proposal-senate-questions/

Politics / He Has No Direction, I Warned Nigerians About Buhari – Pdp Chieftain, Kaze By Vi by petermaryv32: 10:49am On Feb 02, 2017
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former member of the House of Representatives. Hon. Bitrus Kaze has stated that he warned Nigerians against voting for Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

The ex-lawmaker said Buhari had succeeded in taking Nigeria back to zero level and that it would only take time for the country to recover.

Speaing with Sun, Kaze said anyone advising Buhari to run for second term was only being deceptive as the president was unfit to govern the country beyond 2019.

He said, “Before I left the National Assembly, I warned our successors, that they will be dealing with somebody who finds legislative institution strange, which he has never agreed to deal with, and with due respect, I think I am being vindicated.

“The President does not seems to agree or believe in anybody, the President does not understand the difficulty his policies, if any have put Nigerians into, even though up to this moment, I do not understand the policy direction of his administration. It was only late last year that he put an economy team in place.

“He did not know the direction the government is going and as a former member of the House of Representatives, Buhari does not have clear policies in place. International investors are left at a lost and that has led to closure of companies, which resulted to loss of jobs; I am not sure this is the change Nigerians expected....COMPLETE DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/02/he-has-no-direction-i-warned-nigerians-about-buhari-pdp-chieftain-kaze/

Politics / Pdp Carpets Okorocha: Buhari Needs Your Prayers, Not Campaigning For 2019 by petermaryv32: 2:14pm On Jan 27, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari has been on his sick bed for over two weeks, yet the Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the procurement of aircraft and inauguration of an airline, ‘Imo Air’ by Governor Rochas Okorocha at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Owerri, saying the governor was busy campaigning for his 2019 presidential ambition instead of praying for him.

PDP in a statement signed by Hon. Ray Emeana, described the inauguration of the airline as the commencement of Okorocha’s presidential campaign for 2019, accusing the governor of assembling resources at the expense of the state for his presidential ambition in 2019.

The statement reads: “This is just another fraud that will not in any way address the dwindling fortunes of the good people of Imo state but will rather serve the bogus 2019 political ambition of Governor Okorocha............MORE AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/01/27/pdp-carpets-okorocha-buhari-needs-your-prayers-not-campaigning-for-2019/
Politics / Apc New Constitution To Punish Insubordinate Members – Oyegun by petermaryv32: 8:38am On Jan 27, 2017
APC national chairman, Chief John Odigi-Oyegun, made the revelation at the inauguration of a 10-member constitution review committee to be headed national legal adviser, Dr Muiz Banire.

Oyegun said: “This is the very first because of its importance of the activities in the lead-up to the non-elective national convention which, we hope, will take place within the next couple of months.

“Events in the last few months have made me read, very carefully, the provisions that we have, and to my mind, they are so weighted in favour of the ‘problem people’ within the party that it becomes extremely difficult to institute disciplinary procedures.

“I want you to take a very close look at that to make it possible for those who don’t wish the party well but dwell within the party to be speedily neutralised while the details of the cases are being looked into.......................MORE DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/01/27/apc-new-constitution-to-punish-insubordinate-members-oyegun/

Politics / I Am The Prime Mover Of Pdp’s Downfall In 2015 – Tinubu by petermaryv32: 10:34pm On Jan 25, 2017
Tinubu was speaking on the theme Strategic Leadership: “My political Experiences”, at the 25th Course of the National Defence College in Abuja on Wednesday.

He stated that people were ready for change as the 2015 elections approached and APC had to develop several strategies to get into power.

One of them was not to contest as separate parties.

Tinubu said: “We had tried that path before; it led to defeat in 2011. A strategic rethink was needed, to attain the goal of ousting the PDP and placing Nigeria on the road to progressive governance. The strategic linchpin would be the merger of opposition parties.

“Time is inadequate to recount the complex journey toward the merger. My firm position was that only a merger would work. Anything short of that would disintegrate due to a combination of PDP enticement and the internal pressures arising from the strong identification of many politicians with their legacy parties. An ad-hoc alliance would be put asunder by these factors.

“Our push for a merger of the old parties into a new entity carried the day. We would join hands to form a collective identity. The CPC and my party, ACN, ANPP along with progressive elements of the APGA formed the party. Key elements of the PDP would later join. For this amalgamation to work, it had to be more than an anti-PDP gathering. It had to present a genuine and positive message that spoke to people’s hopes and aspirations.” FULL DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/01/25/i-am-the-prime-mover-of-pdps-downfall-in-2015-tinubu/
