Jobs/Vacancies / Tips To Make Your Job Search Easier by PFBRESOURCES: 9:37am On Jul 12, 2021 |
5 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR JOB SEARCH EASIER 1. Be a top performer at your current job: If you're searching for a job while you're working at another position, you should maintain a good working relationship with your managers and coworkers. When you gain a reputation as a hardworking professional who is willing to help coworkers, your references will have good things to say about you. If you're a top performer, you can also list any awards or achievements on your resume. For example, a salesperson could mention that their sales statistics have been in the top 10% for the past six months. 2. Apply even if you're not a perfect fit: Many people underestimate their value to employers. They assume that only applicants who can meet every qualification get interviews. Many businesses need to fill vacant positions quickly, and they don't have time to search for candidates that have all the qualifications on a job listing. Companies may accept practical experience instead of a degree in the industry. Some employers also provide on-the-job training for those who may need to develop a new skill to complete certain tasks. 3. Update and customize your resume: Before you start applying to jobs, add any new skills, achievements or awards to your resume. You should also revise your objective or summary. Look at the job description and the company's website to find keywords to use in your resume. This can keep your application from being eliminated before someone reads it. 4. Network: Using your contacts can let you find and apply for jobs that employers aren't advertising yet. You should tell friends, family members, and former coworkers that you're searching for a job. You could discover a position that fits your needs just by speaking to an acquaintance. If possible, attend networking events in your industry. 5. Visit employers in person: You should visit companies in your area to ask about open positions. If they're not hiring, ask to drop off your resume and leave your contact information. This demonstrates your interest in the job, makes you more memorable, and helps your application stand out. 2 Likes

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Present Your Strengths And Weaknesses In A Job Interview by PFBRESOURCES: 12:11pm On Jul 05, 2021 |
HOW TO PRESENT YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES IN A JOB INTERVIEW 1. Prepare ahead & identify your strengths and weaknesses First things first – in order to talk about your strengths and weaknesses in a job interview you need to know what they actually are. What are your greatest strengths? One way to list your strengths is to draw on any previous feedback you’ve been given. If you have previous work experience, this is pretty straightforward – you can probably think of specific circumstances where you did good (and it was noticed!) and felt able to utilize your talents to go that extra mile. But you may be new to the job market or have experienced some time out from working life. Here you can always draw on educational or personal feedback that’s been positive. What are your biggest weaknesses? If you find it hard to think of your weaknesses, come back to your list of strengths. What is the opposite of these strengths? Is that something you may struggle with? If you are, for example, really good at connecting with people, networking, and forming relationships, would you, on the other hand perhaps, find it difficult to work by yourself? 2. Apply your strengths and weaknesses to the desired role Now that you have your list, think about the job you are applying for. What strengths are relevant to it? What weaknesses are not welcomed? Pick a strength that is relevant to that particular role. It’s always best to provide examples of when you have displayed that strength in the past and how exactly this could be useful in the role you are applying for. 3. Focus on weaknesses that are NOT relevant to the role When talking about your weaknesses, home in on those that are not essential for the role – you don’t want to disqualify yourself. 4. Don’t just state your weakness – show your willingness to improve Don’t stop after naming your weakness. Ensure the weaknesses you share are fixable as well as demonstrating how you are working on them. Showing how you’re taking steps to improve on weaknesses will not only show self-awareness, it will show commitment to personal and professional growth. 5. Turn negatives into positives Switching it around shows you are mindful of this characteristic and are able to prevent it getting in the way of your performance. 6. Have more than one example prepared Sometimes one example may not be enough. The interviewer may just want to get to know you better or was not fully convinced by the first one you presented. Make sure you prepare at least 3 examples, so you have your responses ready. 7. How NOT to answer ‘What are your strengths and weaknesses? a. Don’t be arrogant or dishonest about your strengths and abilities – you’ll be found out eventually – and the point of the interview is to make sure the job is a good fit for you b. Don’t use the obvious ‘old’ examples, especially for weaknesses – I’m too attentive to detail, too much of a perfectionist, too hard-working – those may sound disingenuous as recruiters and hiring managers will have heard these many times. c. When talking about your strengths or weaknesses, don’t humblebrag – it comes across as self-elevation and no one wants to work with someone who puts down others to boost their own self-esteem. d. If you’re not talented at making jokes – the interview is not the best time to start practicing them. e. Don’t be defensive or apologetic for your weaknesses – everyone has them, there is no need to apologize. The key is to be honest, show self-awareness, and the ability to learn from mistakes – Do this and you will nail the interview! 11 Likes 4 Shares

Career / Strategies For Dealing With Difficult Boss by PFBRESOURCES: 4:06pm On Jun 28, 2021 |
8 STRATEGIES FOR DEALING WITH A DIFFICULT BOSS 1. Determine your boss' motivations Trying to better understand why your supervisor acts the way they do can help you determine whether this person is acting negatively on purpose or simply dealing with a high-pressure job. If your supervisor is under a great deal of pressure and in turn puts more pressure on you and other employees, you may be able to voice how this is affecting your work life to your boss. 2. Take responsibility when necessary Sometimes a relationship with a supervisor can be challenging due to both individuals' behaviors. While it may be easy to blame your boss for their negative behavior, it's important to assess your role in the relationship and take responsibility for any contribution to the challenging nature of the relationship when necessary. 3. Choose your words carefully While expressing honesty and being open in the workplace is certainly important, it's also important to remain tactful and choose your words thoughtfully when interacting with a difficult supervisor. Saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, being disrespectful or being perceived as disrespectful will likely only increase the tension between you and your manager. 4. Empathize As challenging a situation as this might be, put yourself in your boss' shoes to understand better what this person might be going through. Your boss may have to deal with the heads of the organization. They may be going through a challenging time personally. All these things can affect your boss's behavior and understanding their position might give you a new outlook on their behavior. More importantly, these things can help you better accept and cope with challenging situations as you understand that you are not the problem. 5. Don't discuss your boss with coworkers Speaking with someone about your difficult relationship with your boss can be an important part of taking care of yourself and venting some of your frustration. However, it's important you refrain from having this type of conversation with other coworkers. Doing so may further encourage negativity in the workplace. Instead, try talking to a trusted friend or family member whose opinion you respect. 6. Anticipate expectations Take the time to become well-acquainted with your boss's habits, demands and expectations. In doing so, you can anticipate their requests and avoid exacerbating any tension in your relationship. More than that, if your boss sees that you don't need to be micromanaged, they may provide you with more freedom and require you to check in with them less. 7. Practice your leadership skills You can use your difficult situation as an opportunity to practice your leadership skills. Take the initiative and make decisions when possible that you know will lead to positive results for the organization. Your co-workers may be affected by your initiative and start following your steps to achieve results. This can help to turn a negative environment into a positive and proactive one. 8. Study your boss' communication style Taking the time to determine your manager's preferred communication style can help foster more effective communication within the workplace. For example, if your boss prefers to communicate primarily via email, make it a habit to first send them an email before confronting them in person about a work-related matter. The better you understand how to communicate with your manager, the more likely your relationship will improve. 3 Likes

Career / Six Ways To De-stress After A Long And Hard Work Week by PFBRESOURCES: 2:20pm On Jun 18, 2021 |
1. Play a game Our first tip is: Play a game! Whether a board game with your family or partner, or a video game on your phone, computer or PlayStation. Playing games will not only make you relax but will force you to use your brain in a very different way from how you normally use your brain when you are at work. 2. Go outside and get some fresh air Another great way to relax both body and mind is by going outside and just getting out of the house. Sometimes all it takes to relax mentally is to do something physically. If you are up for it after a long work week, go for a run or a walk to get some healthy exercise and think about something other than all the stress you have experienced this week. 3. Disconnect and forget everything that has to do with work Many people tend to take work home with them over the weekend – but this is not a good way to relax and de-stress after a long work week. If you want to perform your best at work, you should also be able to perform your best at home – and this has absolutely nothing to do with working. That is why you should aim for not thinking about work at all when you are home and off work. 4. Relax your body and brain There are so many ways to relax your mind and body. So you just have to find out what does the job for you. Do you like listening to music? Do you like to read catching and interesting books? Do you enjoy meditating or doing yoga at home? Or do you prefer to just take a nap when you feel stressed or overwhelmed? No matter what the best way for you to relax is – just do it. 5. Create something with your hands Whenever you need to take your mind off something, try creating something physically. Do something with your hands. Whether you enjoy cooking, drawing, journaling, taking photos or something completely else, you should definitely try doing it whenever you feel stressed. Try a new recipe, do a drawing-challenge, start bullet journaling or go somewhere where you have never been before to do some photography. 6. Do something fun! If you truly want to relax – and at the same time do something good for yourself – try doing something fun. No matter how strange it might feel, going directly from a long and hard week of work to doing something really fun and different – it works! Play around with your kid, play outside with your dog, watch a stupid reality show, day dream about your travel plans, watch funny videos on YouTube, and visit your best friend. 14 Likes 4 Shares
