My Experience dealing with a financial institution based out of naija I had a bitter experience with the institution with constant back and forth to the extent i almost lost N1.2 million. I opened accs for myself and minors with proof as their legal guardian, the accs was opened and i made deposits to mine N55m and N400k each for the minors, when it was time to take out the funds the bank refused to release the funds saying i should get the authorization of any other legal guardian the minors may have before the funds can be released, Is this legal? For nearly a week, we were battling it, they demanded for documents that I never imagined. They kept refusing the documents i tried to offer, asking for additional documents issued by their government which was impossible to provide. I will advise anyone who intends to invest funds outside the shores of Naija to think twice, when you invest and keep seeing profits it's all good, when you want to take out the funds is when you will truly know some of these offshore banks are criminals. It is better to put your money where your mouth is, do not trust financial institutions, they will they to try embezzle your money even while you are still alive. Better to invest in properties and going forward 80 percent of my portfolio will be properties. 2 Likes |

As Buhari and his cabal gets ready to pass the 2021 budget, there is surely great possibilities they will doll out huge debt instruments that requires financing. What are you predictions; 1. Bonds 2. Treasury bills 3. Development funds 4. Palliative funds Looks like the attractive debt instruments of 10 percent and above is likely to emerge in the next few months. 1 Like |

Nigeria is indeed not looking good and this will continue for the next 100 years unfortunately. Even though a lot of people argue here that Nigeria is cheaper compared to the developed countries BUT i think there are disparities. 1. To see a duly qualified private doctor for any serious treatment like surgery keep aside N2 million BUT In the UK if you like break all the bones inside your body, your body will be re-constructed for free. 2. Stability of price of commodities and services non-existent in Nigeria for example the amount you buy milk in the market today is not what you will buy it in 6 months time BUT In the UK price of groceries remains the same in all chains of stores for 6 months and beyond, prices rather down than go up even in recession (quite a magic). 3. In Nigeria quality service is attributed to the rich for example AY will do shows and charge N2 million table for 10 i.e N200k/£350 per person, similar shows performed in better venues in the UK with A-list artists and celebrities such as Robby Williams, Tracy Chapman will never charge more than 100 pounds for VIP tickets. To have a balanced life as it exists in developed countries while in Nigeria is way more expensive without a doubt. I don't know how others do it but N30k doesn't last more than 24 hours for me in Nigeria while in a developed country i can comfortably live on £20/N12k per day (housing excluded). Nigeria is an unsafe place even with police escorts surrounding you but in the UK any adult can walk in any city at any time of the day without fear of being kidnapped or used for money ritual. NHS is 200 percent better than Nigerian private hospitals, the British population that complain about health care are mostly the fat ones looking for who to pay for their liposuction treatment quicker than the system permits. jedisco: |

It's a normal thing, Nigerian banks like to take advantage of uninformed customers, if you try to perform a dom acc transaction at your usual branch and they don't, request to see the manager, confront him and tell him to sort your needs inline with CBN's narrative, if he doesn't send an email to the CBN, the CBN is still very active in such matters. But most bank managers will prefer to solve your problems than you write to the CBN if it's inline with the current policy or refer you to a branch that can resolve any issues. Apply education and wisdom. Cyberknight: |

Anyone still in doubt about CBN's recent narrative on Dom accs should read these. In summary, inflow payments going into dom accs are to be verified as legitimate before crediting the benefactor, and no transfer of funds from one customer to another. Only signatory to a dom acc can deposit funds in it. For more info read the update on CBN website.

People should stop spreading false information, Saying all dom acc funds are to be converted to Naira at bank rate is NOT TRUE There are multinationals who own dom accs in Nigeria and require forex to repatriate their funds, so they will be forced to take Naira to their countries where it isnt legal tender ? All maturing Eurobonds go through dom accs so they will all be paid out in Naira too? Verify your rumours before running to comment online. 10 Likes 1 Share |

I have seen this, the Société Générale translated Society General has been in existence since 1864 or before. Somehow Nigerians established the same and ran it down, the European Société General has never gone down under rather they are expanding rapidly in Europe. The argument they put forward was that Okocha was defrauded by Société General, he may have been but not with Société Générale Europe (very impossible). NL1960: 1 Like |

Neymar has nothing to do with Société General, his former club paid a cheque through Société General who one of you alleged defrauded JayJay Okocha and i brought it to you that Société General Europe can NEVER defraud anyone rather it's a local game they ran on Okocha, are you having amnesia? I am very much older than all of you running mouth and has more money as well. I have an account with Société. General too, if not there is nothing to prove i would have posted my Société General account balanace here, obviously it will give you a seizure. Wickedfact: 2 Likes |

The fact is that Okocha didnot lose money to Société General Europe, Sariki and his cohorts ran a local game and that is most likely the answer to your misinterpretation. Sariki has nothing to do with Société General Europe, he is no where in the history of Société General Europe, here are some facts. Wickedfact: 1 Like

Société General is well established in Europe, they are one of the strongest banks. No Nigerian banking with Société General Europe has ever lost a dime. Wickedfact: |

The last time dollar dropped like this, a lot of people were lucky to buy at N375/$ after a few days it kicked off again. One thing i will say is, a 25% devaluation is equivalent to 2.5 years interest on fixed income. It could be best to monitor. I have never seen a government that grow its reserve by borrowing money. Another round of devaluation is not far. ojesymsym: |

Inciting fear by the CBN worked in 2016 when there were less troubles, unfortunately 2020 has genuine troubles shortage in oil price revenue, covid19, us china trade war. No policy the CBN implements now will crash the price of dollar, if the CBN inject the 32 billion usd reserve into the black market now, it will be mopped up by businesses in less than 24 hours and i'm sure they won't dare such. Injecting funds to the black market can better be managed, if the CBN keep injecting $200m at the blackmarket every week, it will take three years to empty the reserve to ground zero, surely they won't inject that much too. The best options is to increase home made productivity, have better home made hospitals, schools, medical insurance, food production then remove forex expenditures like FORM M, PTA, BTA etc. Nothing extraordinary will come next week, just anticipation that magic will happen, there is no magic will real economics. delawal: 6 Likes |

Check against other major currencies such as JPY, CAD, it is only the EURO that is doing best compared to other currencies since the last 3 months. The USD is at an all time low. Cyberknight: 1 Like |

Dollar at the International market just nose dived this evening. This brings more problem for the Naira as the rate of exchange will definitely go up or maintain the same spot. Everytime the USD performs bad at International market, Nigerian govt. loses millions of expected dollars from sale of oil, the same proceeds the CBN bring to the Nigerian forex market with a combination of the reserve to cater for forex demand. Artificial scarcity of dollar will persist, it is only a matter of weeks and a maximum of 18 months. 1 Like 1 Share |
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Philantropists: 5:44am On Aug 28, 2020 |
Currently 1.There is a decline in oil revenue for the Nigerian government, less dollars is coming into the country from the No1 source of forex for the governemnt. 2. Covid 19 has caused decrease in global activities thereby less demand for oil and activities globally is estimated to be fully back when Covid vaccine is out mid next year. 3. Artificial intervention to keep the Naira v Dollar rate low only enrich the BDCs. Resumption of International flights will force demand of forex up, the cbn resuming sale of forex to BDCs will not reverse the damage rather induce more scarcity, there is a backlog of forex transactions by banks. Once supply resume, businesses and multinationals will mop up the forex. From history, since the existence of Nigeria, the issue of Naira going south always prevail, short term strategy to a long term problem only hurt the economy further. 10 Likes |

Ok. You can't get it out faster than the hold period. They are using this time to verify from the buyer if you truly delivered. Your best option is to tell the buyer to contact them and request they release the funds. bigplantainn: |
