Crime / Re: Pictures Of The Muslim Fanatics That Burnt Deborah Alive In Sokoto by PhillyA: 7:49pm On May 13, 2022
compton11:
do u even read the news sef?

Saudi said they weren't arrested because of that.

In May, the US Congress asked the Saudi Embassy in Washington to explain the situation. Embassy officer Sarah Nezamuddin told a Congressional office that the Christians had all been arrested for involvement in drug and human trafficking, a story she later changed to issues relating to their work permits. For Congress officials, the Christians did not commit any crime and should be released

Why would Saudi arrested u for worshipping in private?

How is that affecting them?

And neo nazis say holocaust is fake news. How about we look at this from logical perspective: is it outside the realm of possibility that a theocracy whose law says apostasy is punishable by death for her citizens accept the concept of religious freedom for foreigners?

Did you live in Saudi? Hajj doesn't count because you're restricted to city.

Pls give show me the Christian that was arrested for worshipping his God privately in Saudi ,what a lie.

U supposed care about Bible violence instead of non existed violence in Quran.

All the verses of Quran have reason

Here:https://www.asianews.it/news-en/Jeddah:-35-Ethiopian-Christians-still-in-prison-after-praying-in-a-private-home-24983.html

Why would I lie about an easily verifiable thing. If you don't trust this source, Google it, it's all over the internet. I knew about it because we're asked to donate cash to help them seek justice.

I'm actually actually In ibadan u stupid ass nigga.

And u have never see where this happened among the southern Muslims cos Islam don't teach us this.

I lived in Saudi Arabia for 2 years, and can confirm it's the most theocratic state perhaps next to Vatican. While there, I remembered some African Christians were arrested for, wait for it, praying in their rooms. Do you think a Muslim would be arrested if they prayed in their private space in Vatican? I'm Yoruba Christian and 50% of my uncles and aunts are Muslims, and I appreciate them more than the other Christian half. So, the tolerance of Yoruba Muslims can't be attributed to the religion, it is something deeper: humanity. The Quran is ambiguous about violence, therein lies the problem. Islamic scholars choose whatever teaching (violence/peace) tickles their fancy.

Business / Re: Please Suggest A Business I Can Start With Five Hundred Thousand Naira by PhillyA: 3:27am On May 19, 2021
DAVIDMOE:
Start poultry farming. You can combine it with the driving work for now.
You should start small with 50 birds (broiler).
Learn the ropes and expand as you get more experienced.

Raising broilers can give you 45% profit in two months.
But you need a mentor so you don't make dreadful mistakes.

There's a guy in this nairaland that can guide you.

Poultry isn't something people can dabble into without proper training. One misstep can wipe out all your birds without warning.

I’m currently into the business and can give some quick quote that can be of valuable help.

Again, the business is a goldmine for the patient.

Can you give a detailed business plan? I'm willing to pay for it.

16k

I was owed salary too straight out of secondary school working as a home tutor on a salary of 5k. Funny thing was, this was a rich family living in expansive mansion (or so I thought). Don't try to take anything from his shop, leave him to God. God will so bless that you will laugh over the fact that you were worried over 16k. And if you involve police you'll spend more than 16k.

Give me a private message with your bank details.

I was raised Catholic, so I'm familiar with some of the Igbo cultures and I couldn't be more disappointed with this discriminatory social classification of another human as an outcast. Given a predominantly Christian population in that region, why does anyone care about a river goddess? Oh, it just occurred to me that you gotta be a subject of a goddess to really care about their opinion. The faux religiousity is such a grand deception and it's very annoying to say the least.

Or perhaps it is just discrimination for discrimination sake, with no mythical creature involved. Ahiara bishop crisis might just be an evidence that this is the case.

Where was she and her kind when that little MALE kid matter was brought online? I didn't see all these ginger o. Olosho!

And to the simps calling themselves guys **waka** there! Fools

Any guy that is following all these oloshos and little girls to shout "justice" for the young FEMALE kid but kept quiet or was not gingering this much when that MALE kid matter was brought online

Thunder go fire una! angry angry angry angry

Why do most morons use the phrase "thunder fire una"? Thunder is all about sound which is harmless for the most part, lightening on the other hand is what you want to be careful around. That said, justice should be sought for any molested child whether boy or girl. You're being obtuse and moronic to allow molestation of a girl-child because a boy's rape case didn't get much online rage.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Coming To Lagos For Opportunities! by PhillyA: 3:33pm On Apr 20, 2021
If you have a place to stay, don't hesitate to pursue your dream of media and entertainment in Lagos. As a matter of fact, there's no better place to be when it comes to entertainment. Many people who live in Lagos take the city for granted, myself included. I got a shocker of my life living in Port Harcourt, Abuja and Benue for internship and NYSC. Before living outside of Lagos, I assumed every other city is on par with Lagos with respect to opportunities, commerce and technology. I'm no longer in Lagos but it is a city after my heart. I love the new tech ecosystem sprawling in Yaba and other places, it could only mean more jobs. I wish government could inject seed funding into that ecosystem, or create a program similar to SBIR/STTR in US.

Let me share the story of an ex-colleague at my former office in Lagos, he was in a similar situation as you, more than a decade ago. He grew up in the east, went to college in one of those eastern universities, and immediately moved to Lagos in search of the proverbial greener pastures. Here's where it gets interesting: he didn't job hunt the traditional way: waiting for job ads and applying like Lagosians such as myself would normally do. He got a map of Island, and knocked on the door of every company on the island, submitting a resume to either the security officer or receptionist at the front desk. He did get a job at my office based off of this strategy alone. Well, let me just say, it is a multinational company, and the base salary was globally competitive.

How bad do you want it?

it hurts and feel very bad to be turned down after so many interviews.

I feel like I offended the gods, I feel low bad and it's making me lose confidence.

business is my line of work that I will prosper with but you know getting the capital is not easy unless you get a job and work for few years. but this rejection is too much it's giving me depression. how do you deal with it ?

I've had my fair of interviews in Nigeria and other countries I've worked. You might not believe it, but Nigerian interview screening is most merit-based out of the three countries (Nigeria, Gulf country and N American country). I know there are many graduates pursuing little opportunities out there, but rest assured you'll get something if you did everything you're supposed to do and don't let up. Ten years ago, I was in your position, my interview experience were long and drawn out and took nearly 6 months to land my first in-person interview after aptitude test. So it's actually a good thing you're getting interviews. The more rejections you get, the better you'll be at interviews, and if you take the learnings from each interview and implement in the next, you'll be employed soon.

If Abiola had become president both OBJ and Shonekan wouldn't have been president.

He knows that, and that was why he said at one point that Abiola isn't the messiah we need. Also, he chose a different democracy day when the rest of his clans wanted it to be June 12 - to immortalize Abiola.

IBB hates the idea of an Abiola presidency no more than OBJ does. Looks like Obasanjo is just projecting here, as always. If a politician says something, look their record about such issues in the past before you believe them.

Because their money is more valuable than your useless naira

Granted they have a stronger currency, but you'll be better off getting a cleaning job in Nigeria than in UAE when you factor in rent and other bills. I don't think one can even afford rent on janitors salary, usually, employers pack 200 people in a single room. Trust me, you don't wanna live like that. I don't know how these Bangladeshi, Pakistanis and Indians do this. Having lived in gulf countries for a bit, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone without at least masters degree plus 5 years work experience.

Too numerous to mention. A city that only Lagos and maybe Abuja can boast of more economic opportunities than.

Think about it.

In 2006 I struggled to understand how anyone survives on banker's salary in PH. What is the point of opportunities when the cost of living is off the charts?

Your post was mixed with experience and hearsay. Go read your write up again. Post purely your experience and stop garnishing it with hearsay. And for you to think that Lagos is more safer than PH is very ridiculous. Just write you are a westerner and you are used to the lifestyle in the west.

We will understand you perfectly well. Afterall me I can't live in the west. Too dirty for my liking. We are trying to clear the dirts in PH, but the one in the west is in a whole new level.
Skull mining is another story.

I don't think you understand what hearsay means and you actually proved my point with this post.

I interned for a major oil company in Trans-Amadi back in 2006 and I can't for the life of me understand why anyone who isn't an oil worker and/or indigenous to that region would choose to live in Port Harcourt. Sales price of items sometimes inferior in quality to what you'll find in Lagos is doubled the price of items in Lagos. This is true for the most part, except for boli (roasted plantain and fish) which is like 20x what they sell for in Lagos.

Cultists held sway in 2006, and there are gossips they had the backing of the then governor. During onboarding orientation for new hires at my company, we were warned never to display company badge (ID card) outside the company, otherwise we may be kidnapped for ransom. A colleague was stabbed on the street for no reason at all.

If you don't like rain, stay away! It rains all the time, and everywhere gets flooded pretty quickly. I've lived in rainy places like Lagos, Portland, but I've never seen anything like Port Harcourt.

As if that wasn't enough, the disdain towards Yorubas by locals was palpable and in-your-face, and I wondered then if I was in Nigeria. In my defense, it was my first time leaving my bubble of Lagos and SW. I impressed my bosses during internship and was told to come back after graduation but I never did.

Travel / Re: How Nigerians Abroad Complain About Loneliness Amazes Me by PhillyA: 9:26am On Mar 11, 2021
neurosci:

My first day in America, right at the airport in New York, there was this lady who just kept smiling at me. It was barely an hour since I arrived. I was too sure she knew me from somewhere, but I was wondering where that could be since I had just barely arrived. So, I kept staring at her and she kept smiling. The more I stared, the more she smiled. That night, I flew to Colorado where that scenario would recur multiple times. Initially, my impression was that people were extremely friendly here, since I had never been in a place where people would just smile at strangers after an eye-contact. Frown at them and they would still smile at you. I lived in the midwest, close to Canada, where the smiling habit is the norm. Drivers on the road who know you from nowhere will smile and wave at you. I never saw someone frown their face, ever! It took a while to get used to. These same people would go on to vote for Donald Trump, so I know they don't really like us or want us there - the smile is just their way of life. I've lived on the west coast and east coast since then, and I can tell a few changes. I'm traveling to the south for the first time by the end of this month, so I'm looking forward to what the experience over there would look like.

Even Americans who moved to new cities are lonely. As an example, type the question "Did you regret moving to Portland?" in Quora and read through all the answers. I'm certain the answer wouldn't change much if you replace Portland with Seattle, New York or LA.

America is the richest country on earth, yet many are homeless, and many sell their homes to pay for cancer treatment. Why do y'all think these contradictions happen? So because you can toast some girls in Nigeria you'll not be lonely here. Lol

Even in Nigeria, those places are bad for approaching ladies.

Parks, gardens, beaches, hotel lounges, upscale bars, theme restaurants, amusement parks, museums, art exhibitions, concerts etc. these places are excellent because everybody is in a social mood and in Canada, they are all easily accessible to any body with a stable income.

And when a white girl is smiling at a black guy (or any guy), it most likely means he told a joke or she is trying to flirt with him... human emotions are encoded in our DNA, so they are the same everywhere.

I remembered my first day in America, eight years ago, a girl walking in opposite direction on the sidewalk smiled at me. I was 100% certain she was flirting. Next day, two other random girls did this. At the end of my first month, scores of girls must smiled at me. Then it hits me that this is a norm here, I didn't just get the cultural reference at the beginning. This is true for midwest and southern states, but people in north-western and north-eastern states are the exact opposite: extremely unfriendly folks. Now, those folks smiling at you may never invite you to cookouts and their voting pattern suggests they don't want you around. Even some endearing words like "bless your heart" these southerners use may have some negative connotations, you have to have lived there a long time to get the cultural reference.

Some Christians may befriend you as a way of proselytizing, but don't get it twisted, you're just a project not a brother.

It could be lonely for the outgoing types, but for some of us, we enjoy our own company.
