https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rP3UwlsQmo

eter John strikes out in this beautifully crafted worship song titled I WILL SING. He features our very own Dr. Paul, who just wrapped up a major promotional of the ROCK THAT NEVER FAILS that featured songstress, Preye Orok. In this song, Peter John announces his arrival in the gospel music scene with very strong vocals and powerful delivery. Both singers pack this song with such strength and vigor that the listener wants to keep this on repeat. Produced by Niyi P, one of the front-row producers in Nigeria, and mixed and mastered by Sam Odus of Newtrend Studios.

Education / Nigerian Shortlisted For The British Council UK Universities Alumni Awards by PIANO2000: 8:46pm On Jan 24, 2017
http://www.lboro.ac.uk/alumni/news/2017/impressive-shortlisting-for-loughborough-alumnus-in-british-council-alumni-award.htmlImpressive shortlisting for Loughborough alumnus in British Council Alumni Awards Nigeria

Loughborough University Alumnus, Dr Paul Oluikpe has been shortlisted for a highly sought-after British Council Award for Professional Achievement in Nigeria.

The British Council Alumni Awards celebrate the exceptional achievements of alumni who have studied in the UK in the last 15 years and showcase the impact and value of a UK education.

There have been over 1,200 nominations to this year’s awards, with a shortlist of 148 nominations. The awards are being held in ten locations across the world, with just 30 available.

The Loughborough University Alumni Association is delighted to see alumnus Paul shortlisted for one of these coveted awards.

Paul studied for an MSc in Information and Knowledge Management at the University until 2003, followed by a PhD at Loughborough in Civil Engineering. He received his Doctorate in 2007.

Paul works at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where he has developed a hugely successful knowledge management (KM) strategy for the bank.

Paul noted that “Studying at Loughborough University gave [him] a multicultural outlook and the ability to adapt to any situation”. When asked about his shortlisting for the British Council Award, Paul said: “I was pleasantly surprised to have been shortlisted, not because I didn’t believe in myself, but because I knew there were equally very excellent candidates out there.

“UK Universities are known to produce solid graduates. However, I am delighted that my Loughborough background came through for me. Loughborough is the place to be if you seek to stand out. Its consistent frontline ranking in all the higher education charts available today is a testament to this fact. I am looking forward to the Awards Ceremony, and hopefully we can bring this back to Loughborough. Fingers crossed”.

Former lecturers in the Business School and School of Civil and Building Engineering were delighted to hear about Paul’s recognition.

Dr Louise Cooke, Programme Director of the MSc in Information Management and Business Technology in the School of Business and Economics said of the announcement: “It is wonderful to see how Paul has used the knowledge gained through his MSc at Loughborough both as a foundation for his PhD research and subsequently in his work for the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“His achievement in getting through to the final round of the British Council Awards is further recognition of how he has translated his academic expertise into invaluable practitioner knowledge for the benefit of the people of Nigeria. Paul is an outstanding example of a Loughborough alumnus and we are proud to have played a part in helping him to achieve such tremendous success.”

Paul’s PhD supervisor, M. Sohail Khan, Professor of Sustainable Infrastructure in the School of Civil and Building Engineering said: “I am pleased to hear that Dr Oluikpe is being recognised in the British Council Alumni Awards. Not only has Paul made us proud professionally but he also has a lovely personality.

“He joined Nigeria’s Central Bank and reached a senior level in a short time. He is a role model and would definitely inspire a lot of people from his country and similar countries to choose a British Education.”

Recognised across the University for his excellent academic ability and enthusiasm, Loughborough University wish Dr Paul Oluikpe the very best of luck at the Nigeria Awards in March.

The Nigeria British Council Alumni Awards will be held in Lagos, Nigeria on 4 March 2017.

Yahweh is a worship song inspired by God’s presence. It is a soul-stirring song of surrender to God’s will. As the New Year has dawned, God will take his place and do what he desires in the lives of his people. Dr. Paul and Soul Solace are just vehicles of expression for God’s touch through this song. The group has had a good year in 2016 dropping back-to-back hits like Nara Ekele (nominated for the Scepters Award), My Helper, My Helper Remix, Bulie Ya and Adonai. The song Yahweh takes this success to the next level.

Vs 1
I bring You a sacrifice, Oh Lord who made the heavens
I bring You a sacrifice, Oh Lord who made the earth
No matter what, I experience, my life is in Your hands
So do what You desire, Yahweh. (Choir repeat)

Chorus
Yahweh, I give my life as a sacrifice of praise
Yahweh, I give my life to You
Yahweh, let all creation lift their hands in praise
Yahweh, let everything around me give You praise
Yes, everything around me, Yahweh
Vs 2
I bring You a song of praise, the King of all the kings
I bring You a song of praise, Oh Maker of the universe
No matter what, may come my way, my life is in Your hands
So do what You desire, Yahweh
(Repeat chorus 2x)
Yes everything around me, Yahweh (7 times)

Ochomma is an African tribal village hero, who had seen the good and bad sides of life. His life is suddenly turned upside down, by a coup and counter-coup in the country's capital, far away from his village. His peaceful village life is upstaged by a chain of events which eventually culminated in a civil war. Thousands of his tribesmen are killed by mobs in the north, and their bodies arrive back to the village, causing quite a stir. Refugees displaced by the crisis also find their way home to tell the tales of woe. Emotions run high and this leads to the secession of the Eastern region from Nigeria, with a new name, Biafra. Ochomma finds himself and his family caught in this crisis. His half-brother, a soldier, goes off to war, never to return. His only son, Chibuike, escapes attempts to conscript him as a child soldier. Incidentally, Ochomma kills Sochi his brother in the night, in a mysterious case of mistaken identity, although it was well known that Ochomma never liked him, because he was 'good for nothing'. He had killed quite a number of people in the past, but this one killing changed him, especially as he covered it up to protect his mother from grief and to also avoid banishment from the clan. As the war progressed, with its attendant devastation, hunger and betrayal, Ochomma's village relocates to a refugee camp, but he refuses to leave his compound. His mother's eventual death makes him change his mind. Was this for better or for worse?
Nairaland / General / BN Book Review: Dead On Arrival By Paul Oluikpe | Review By John Clarke by PIANO2000: 11:26am On Nov 09, 2013
As a Briton, who grew up in Nigeria, I am delighted when I see works which depict Nigeria with vivid imagination and accuracy.

Paul Oluikpe’s novel, Dead on Arrival (2013), published by Warwick Publishing classically exemplifies and richly amplifies the twists, turns and paradoxes underlying Nigeria during the civil war. In many ways, it is different from all other novels that mirror this much written about but grossly misunderstood war.

Using the Nigerian-Biafra civil war, he does not dwell on ideology and histrionics, but carries the reader on eagle’s wings to the grassroots of the war, where policies, propaganda and diplomacy translate directly into the everyday lives of the citizens whose country is at war.

Dead on Arrival is a story about four characters in one family: Ochomma, a village legend, Chibuike his son, Iroegbulam and army officer and Sochi, ‘a prodigal son’. These are all entwined in the story of the war, sometimes separately but ultimately together, offering a bigger picture of how the war impacts lives.....(continue here)

Literature / Dead On Arrival, A New Novel by PIANO2000: 2:01pm On Oct 25, 2013
Ochomma, a famed warrior and knife fighter in Umuejia, is astounded by the sudden turn of events after a coup and a counter coup. First Mazi Adiche's son arrives from the north, dead on arrival. As the days go by, more bodies arrive from the north, causing a stir in the village. This sets off a cataclysm that pushes the country to the brink of collapse. A civil war begins and the country fights a bitter war. The rudest shock comes when jets bomb a market for the first time, leaving behind panic and pain. His son, Chibuike, escapes attempts to recruit him as a child-soldier. As the war drags to an end, the body count in the family mounts. Haunted by his accidental killing of his brother, and the loss in war of his soldier-cousin Iroegbulam, Ochomma is driven over the precipice.

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Get A Job At The Central Bank Of Nigeria by PIANO2000: 7:27pm On Apr 19, 2013
I found this article interesting. I am currently interviewing for the CBN and this guy appears to know what he's talking about because he's an insider. You can ask him questions too..

"To get a job in the Central Bank of Nigeria is no easy task. The Bank aims to recruit the best hands from across the country and abroad, therefore the process is very competitive. The recruitment process is one of the fairest and most rigorous anywhere in Nigeria. Again, there is no error-proof process in the world not even in the World Bank, but the process in CBN is one of the most transparent, merit-based processes you can find in Africa. First, you must have a good first degree (Second Class Upper or Lower). If you have 2nd class lower, your chances are low, but who knows, your CV might have some quality experience which the Bank may require and thus might compensate for the grade, but it depends on other applicants as well. There are 1st class and 2nd class upper candidates competing for the same post and they might have quality experience as well—so if you are in University now, work hard on your grades. It could make a difference, especially for an entry level job. (Read the rest of the article here)"

Romance / Re: My Wife Caught Me With The Muslim Girl by PIANO2000: 3:55pm On Apr 06, 2013
Well so far my wife has refused to come home until I go to village and meet her parents. I called Hausa girl and as am writing she's in the house with her Elder sister who is just a year older than her.She insisted I go and see her father and I did that early this mornin then he permitted her to come and know my house. They will be here till Monday. Hausa girls are so caring and loving. We just finished a round of very hot sex while her sister is sleeping in the next room. I feel that the Hausa/Muslims have a great civilization and are also well cultured and brought up. Forget the sex, this girl is really cool. I miss my wife and will go to bring her back this week ....however, I need special deliverance to leave this girl...am just being honest. You may curse me as much as you like but most of you do worse things. I see some of the comments some idiots make here...it's not your fault. Even some he-goats here make comments while privately they do worse things. I don't blame you.

After all said and done, my Muslim gf proposed to come to my house. She said she doesn't mind being number two. I refused her coming. Yesterday she called me too early in the morning and my wife picked. I was asleep. She collected her number from my phone. When I went to work she called her and interviewed her thoroughly. The girl told her everything. When I came back my house was on fire. My wife pack3d her things and went to her sister's place nearby. I am in soup. Please help me. I don't want to lose my wife. The girl too has stopped calling or picking my calls. My world has collapsed.

Romance / I'm In Trouble: My Muslim Girlfriend Wants Me To Pregnant And Marry Her by PIANO2000: 6:13pm On Mar 28, 2013
I travelled to one of the Northern towns for official assignment and one morning, I don't know what I ate in the hotel and I had running stomach. I rushed to a big pharmacy close by and bought a drug. The girl attended to me very well. She wore her muslim attire, was dark and had some of those drawings on her hand. I liked her instantly. She even asked me to sit down because I was tired. I bought water and coke and drank the medicine right in her front. We parted ways but I collected her number. She spoke good English and was also about going to university but was just helping her family run the pharmacy. It was on the eve of Valentine (13th Feb). On valentine day I sent her a message and she replied and liked it. As my assignment had not concluded, I was still in the town, so I went back to see her and to wish her happy valentine. When I travelled back to my duty station we called each other occasionally and our calls became very frequent after a week.

I made time and went back again to see her. I picked her up after work and brought her to my hotel. She didnt like coming to the hotel but what can I do. I made her sit on the edge of my bed..I held her hand and she brushed me off. I touched her face and she turned it away. She stood up and said "if this is what you are aiming at, I won't visit where you stay again". I apologized profusely and we left the hotel and I went to drop her. I dropped her at their house....we talked for a while inside the car and she left. After one week I went back again and I also brought her to my hotel. I also made her sit on the edge of my bed. This time I took things easy and we chatted and I held her while we talked and then I started touching her. I later ended up sucking her very cute breasts...she didnt let me do anything at all, but I noticed she enjoyed it very much although was very shy and also maybe did not like the idea. She didnt want to kiss me either so we left it at that.

After one week, I went back again and this time I brought her also to my hotel, but she had already talked to her mother about me and they said I had to convert. She was beginning to talk about religion and that I have to convert. I said ok, I will covert no problems. She was happy, but warned me that she wont put up with fake conversion, I said no problems. So when I took her to my room, this time I really played with her but she didnt do anything...just relaxed on the bed while I did everything. I now took off her clothes and then did it...it hurt her very well...she ran into the toilet becos I had wounded her. I didnt know if it was her virginity or that she was too tight and I wounded her (she wasnt in her period). She could not walk properly for sometime.

After that day, she became very crazy about me. She called me every hour of the day while I was at work. Her sisters also began to call me and greet me. I have spoken to the mother too and have seen all her sisters. She wants me to drive down every weekend but its not convenient for me. The next week I went back again after a lot of her pressure. We also stayed in my hotel room and this time we really hammered. She was screaming and whispering my name to my ear and saying all sorts of rubbish while I hammered her. I told her that we had to stop becos she will get wounded she said she doesnt care that I should hammer it harder, which I did for her. Since then she has been asking me when I will come to see her father. Problem is I was not prepared for this. I thought it was just boyfriend and girlfriend. She has also asked me to pregnant and marry her that she doesnt care.

What do I do please?

I arrived 70 minutes late. My DSTV had refused to work, no thanks to the subscription expiration which I noticed late by the way. So I had to join my compatriots at the bar to get the rumbustious feel of the match. Incidentally, Cote D’voire was level with Nigeria and looking around the small bar, the tension was palpable. No one paid me any notice, and as I sat down, the attendant hurtled towards me. I must order something to qualify to watch the match.

“Give me pure water” I requested, waving my hand in the air to show my importance.

“Pure water or bottled water?” the impatient male attendant pouted enquiringly, raising his eyebrows as if he didn’t hear me the first time. His eyes oscillated like a pendulum between the television and me.

“Yes, pure water!” I replied, raising my voice above the din of noise to make sure I was being heard. The TV was so loud, although the atmosphere in the bar was damp with tension. ‘Is pure water not a commodity again? I thought to myself. After all it has a NAFDAC number just like the bottled water, abi? I asked myself, but in my thoughts though. I didn’t want to be heard raising hoopla over pure water when an important match was going on. The attendant weaved himself through the small space in the bar and disappeared behind the counter to fetch my order. I settled down to watch the match. I took the ‘one chance’ available in the bar so that means I was seated very close to the door and occasionally the gusty harmattan wind would blow the swinging door made with barbed wire woven like a net back and forth. The door would dig into my back, making me shift uneasily, but I didn’t care. It was seventy three minutes into the match already. I had barely settled down when my eyes caught the buildup to what seemed promising from the Nigerian squad.

At the table on my far right, I noticed a man sit erect on his chair, with a bottle of Gulder clutched on his right hand. His left hand rested on his chin nervously and his eyes were drunken red. At the centre of the table sat quite a number of empty bottles, seven or eight at least. They were a mix of Gulder, Star and Guinness. He was in the company of four other men, all huddled around the small table, eyes transfixed on the television. He appeared to be the only one taking a shot at the drinks, at least for now. The others were more in tune with the match, but he looked more nervous too. As Sunday Mba took the ball and dribbled, the man moved his head from side to side as if his view was obstructed by something. Meanwhile the TV is hung on the highest point of the wall in the small bar, so you had to raise your chin to watch and my neck was already strained. But the man kept extruding his head from side to side like a long-necked mother hen unnerved by the approach of kites above her domain. Then came what we had all been expecting. Sunday Mba kept the faith and knocked the ball clean past the keeper into the goal. Wild cheers erupted in the bar. We all stood to cheer the Super Eagles.

“Chei, Sunday, Igbuomu oo” the man said in Igbo, jigging himself around with pride. He was still standing after the rest of us had settled back on our seats. “Nyem Nwainu, give me a bottle of wine” he barked, throwing his weight around and with his right hand, shoved the half-full bottle of Gulder aside. He was in celebratory mood. I too was....story continues here http://www.oluikpe.com/2013/02/03/the-super-eagles-beyond-the-myth/
Sports / Re: Why Did Most Nigerians Support Burkina Faso Against Ghana? by PIANO2000: 8:16pm On Feb 07, 2013
The reason why we supported Burkina Faso is because Ghana is often proud and boastful. They despise Nigeria and all things Nigeria. They think nothing good will come out of Nigeria. Read an interesting story of how Nigeria's Super Eagles was rebuilt http://www.oluikpe.com/2013/02/03/the-super-eagles-beyond-the-myth
