PPR Alert!!!

Family application of 4. (Applied for family members, a father and 3kids).
Purpose: family reunification to join mother and daughter who are international students.

Application date: GC Key - Nov 27, 2021
Biometrics: Nov 29, 2021 (only father & oldest child, other two children are below 10yrs). After 14days and no feedback I decided to try the new portal.
Re-application on New Portal: Dec 13, 2021
(After 14days and no feedback I started sending scattered emails now and then, afterwards I noticed eligibility began.

Then nothing again for one month, so I started sending emails again (now consistently morning and night to IRCC Nairobi, from early Feb for about two weeks).

Feb 25: BVL
Mar 1: PPR for all 4 of them ( 4days after Bvl).

IRCC likes us to disturb them with emails, lol. Sometimes it’s what propels them to look into your application.

God is great. Thank you Jesus.

IT’S ANOTHER PPR FOR MY FAMILY!!!

So, in May, I applied for my hubby’s niece. I did everything myself just like I did my own application.

My hubby (her paternal uncle) sponsored her.

Application: May 14
Background check: May 14
Upfront Medicals: May 19 (updated to pass May 26, same day I submitted the e-slip).
Biometrics: May 26
Applied for GCMS Notes: July 7
Received GCMS Notes: Aug 5
Eligibility started: Aug 5
BVL/PPR: Sept 2

Documents submitted:

PROOF OF FUNDS:
*1 Full Year Tuition receipt
*Sponsor’s company’s CAC certificate
*Sponsor’s company’s Tax certificate
*Sponsor’s MYBANKSTATEMENT Ticket and Password
*Sponsor’s Bank Reference Letter
*Sponsor’s Int’l Passport
*Sponsor’s Letter of Sponsorship
*Sponsor’s court sworn Affidavit of Sponsorship

MAIN DOCUMENTS
* Immigration Forms
*Letter of Acceptance
*Letter of Co-op requirement
*Birth Certificate
*Int’l Passport Data Page

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
*Statement of purpose
*WAEC Certificate and Result Printout
*Travel Stamps on Int’l Passport

HOME TIES
*Affidavit of Return signed by her parents
*Parents and siblings birth certificates
*Family Pictures with family & sponsor’s children

Economic Ties (personal and financial assets)
*Her Father’s property deed of assignment (I indicated in her SOP that as her father’s first child, she is set to inherit the property, so would definitely return home).
*I didn’t include her bank statement because it’s quite new and she’s underage. Based on that I wrote in her letter of sponsorship that her uncle would pay her living expenses into a GIC account that would be opened for her after her visa has been approved. Also, I included in her sponsorship letter that in addition to sponsoring her education and taking care of her living expenses that her uncle(sponsor) is committed to hiring her in his company after graduation, which is one of the reasons he’s sponsoring her.
NOTE: her proposed program is in line with what his company does.

Once again, it has ended in Praise for my family!!!

POINTS TO NOTE:
I went against the norm but God answered me still.
*College application (she just turned 18yrs).
*Uncle sponsorship
*No personal bank statement

What might have worked in her favour
*Uncle (Sponsor) paid one full year tuition
*Bears same surname with Uncle
*Uncle (Sponsor) indicated in his sponsorship letter that she’s his favorite niece who’s like a daughter to him. He also mentioned how bright and intelligent she is, and that he’ll do anything to see her fulfill her dreams and succeed in life. Also, he pointed out he had only two children aged 12 and 13, and that sponsoring his niece wouldn’t have any effect on his finances or resources because he has enough to cater for all. We backed up this claims with evidence.

For her SOP, I wrote how much she loves her chosen course and why she picked her DLI among a pool of other possible schools. I also mentioned why Nigeria wasn’t an option because of the combination of courses she’ll be studying, plus the interaction with students from various parts of the world which will in turn enrich her studying experience above what is obtainable here in Nigeria. Also that her studying in Canada Will give her an edge over her peers in the same industry, and equip her to be the best in her job in her uncle’s (sponsor) company on her return.

I believe all of the above plus fervent prayers sealed her approval. She even fasted at some point and sowed a seed of faith/thanksgiving.

God is indeed awesome.

It is JOYOUS CELEBRATION in my family right now
WHAT THIS GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST!

TO EVERYONE STILL AWAITING PPR, GOD WILL SURELY PERFECT IT JUST LIKE HE DID FOR MY FAMILY. HOLD ON TO HIM AND DON’T LET GO.

I have my own myBankStatement.
Its my co-sponsor am asking about... Or does his also have to be Mybankstatement?
Thank you

Yes. Send both your MybankStatement certificates and your sponsor’s. Don’t send the regular bank statement cos IRCC doesn’t seem to accept that anymore.

The reason I say this is because most applicants who have sent the regular statement always get a request to send their MBS Certificate instead.

I’m not sure this is totally correct. The instruction is to present a negative Covid-19 test result not later than 72hrs before travel. And not 72hrs before travel.

I believe yours was almost later than 72hrs (hence will expire by the time you land in Canada) that was why the immigration officer at the MMA was pointing it out to you that your test result will soon expire.

The idea is to take the test WITHIN 72hrs before your trip, preferably a day before you travel.

“If you're flying to Canada, you must take a test within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of your flight to Canada. Airlines will refuse boarding to travellers who are unable to provide a valid molecular test result.”

I’m not too sure about the arrival testing, but this is what I got.

Taking your arrival test
When you enter Canada, you'll be instructed to either take an arrival test at the border, or receive a home test kit. You may also get a kit to use on Day-8 of your mandatory quarantine.”

You can read more about it here:

Good morning Mr frank, how can I get an MP within the jurisdiction where school is situated in Winnipeg?

It’s simple, just Google constituency members of parliament in Canada.

Send emails to the ones serving in the district where your school is located.

As for the body of the message, just appeal to their good conscience by pleading for them to assist in inquiring into the status of your application and to help expedite the final decision.

Update:

Application submitted 9th May with upfront medicals and IELTS.
Biometrics 10th May.
Since then, no further update whatsoever, just silence.
I was just reading up on how to request for GCMS note this week.
Then, checked my profile this morning to see Medicals updated to pass 28th June and the Original Passport Request and Correspondence letter dropped in my profile this morning (29th June).

I must thank @Lekiboboe especially for looking at my SOP twice. God Bless you man!.
Thanks to everyone supporting this platform with helpful tips and guides.

Also; I want to confirm if a single dose of the vaccine qualifies one for quarantine waiver or one must complete both jabs before a waiver is possible?

Big congrats to you! Go on and prosper.

Soft landing gist
I booked Ethiopian airline for 1:40pm.
I said my final goodbyes and moved to the airport. I got there by 9:30 thinking I’m late because of the story I read here as per queue but there wasn’t any.
They didn’t allow my husband to enter and I had to tip them 500.
We proceeded to where they were suppose to check my bag but the woman asked for money n we moved to declare agricultural product, I had just one bag and I paid 2,000.

Next was to get my boarding pass. My bag was 43kg and so didn’t need to pay but paid 1000 to wrap my Ghana must go that had my foodstuffs.

I was asked for my passport , enrollment letter , arrive can , hotel for quarantine and COVID-19test result.(everything was printed out so was easy to find).

Everything was so smooth until the man said my covid 19 go soon expire by the time I reach .
Na that time I wan cry , pe village people u must show yourself o.
I waited for 30 minutes plus, the sneakers self pain me join , I come Dey frown face, the old man slow join, come Dey read bible abi wetin to show my covid go expire. I sha pretended and maintained my calm.

After series of back and forth, I was allowed to move to where we have the computer so I can scan my pp.

Then I was issued my yellow card where I have to fill my form and my boarding pass . That’s how one man said let me help you fill your form , olodo me allowed him, when he wrote my first name then nairaland tip hit pe, this man wants money like this o. I told him, don’t worry o, I go fill am, I filled it myself and when I was about to return his biro, he said find joy for your brother now, chai I said to myself , upon say I don read landing gist here back to back , I still looseguard. I sha gave him 500 naira.

I moved to eat and told my hubby to take all naira as e don finish , pe no more tipping then moved to final e boarding gate where we have the immigration officers.
First officer checked and asked for tip.by that time no more naira as I wouldn’t have thought , uniform people go want tip .I gave him 1 dollar and he said just one ? I said sorry o.
I was now directed to the second person where he checked and asked my my Canadian address and Nigerian address, I gave my Airbnb addrsss and number and did my fingerprint and he asked for tip too before stamping my pp. I gave him 1 dollar n apologized that I didn’t think I’d need to pay in here hmmm.
Then final final checks again, by that time I don tire , they checked my handbag and saw dried meat wey I wan Dey munch small small, the woman said I don see exhibit , settle your girl, for my mind, u no see shishi but I go sha giv u because na Poe Dey my mind like this.

Luckily I saw 1,000, I gave her and was seated for my flight .
We boarded 13:00and moved around 2:00 against 1:40.

I thought WiFi was free but na only WhatsApp he work for so had to buy WiFi so I can watch my Korean film but WiFi was limited too so ended up watching nothing but was thankful I could chat, maybe it was the WiFi package I took. Their food was terrible sha but I had to eat , dried beef came to my rescue.

We landed Addis Ababa 20:49pm , thank God I had someone directing me as I no sabi where to where .
After all checks ,I was asked for my pp, covid 19 test result, and booked hotel and I was allowed in .

We left for Dublin from Addis around 11:pm and it was a smooth ride, when I read in-house music, I had thought it will be a cool jam coming from one of those vent up there but no it was one boring set of songs you have to listen to(sad).

I had three seats to myself as no one was there so I was able to stretched n lie down well.
By all means download movies and music, iPhone do me strong thing o, not even Netflix . I was now waiting for WiFi atleast let me chat now , that’s how the hostess said no WiFi (cries). Boredom pro max .
Had to manage the dry songs n watch few interesting movies.

Then I was given declaration form , I kuku didn’t understand most of what they wanted but I sha filled something . The most confusing thing for me was the time difference, my time kept changing as weather chai.

We were served rice with chicken , Na so I no fit chop am because hmmm, I like eba and afang and so everything was strange. I told them to give me the dry bread n butter n water.

We got to Dublin around 6:35 am and some passengers dropped and we waited for 45 mins still seated for refilling n all that. We got to Toronto around 8:am(again time difference).

I filled my covid form on the system provided n was given a slip, proceeded to immigration, I was asked for passport , loa and school fees receipt, then he gave my study permit to me and went further by telling me about the 20hrs allowed for work .

I was there waiting for more question but none , I also waited for welcome to Canada , rather he said enjoy your stay and that was it.

Moved to take my connecting flight to Vancouver, that’s how they told me I must quarantine in Toronto, told them my mandatory hotel stay was booked in Vancouver and my flight would soon move , them no hear , had to cancel my booking and rebook in Toronto .

Please no matter where you going in Canada , as far as you stopping at Toronto, reserve your hotel in Toronto, that’s the only way they will allow you move further.

Did my covid test and was given a test kit to retest a week after and then we were taken to our hotel . Currently quarantining at Toronto before moving to my final destination.

For all PPR hopeful , I wish everyone nothing but good news.
Amen.

Big congratulations once again sis. Thank God for journey mercies.

As for those MMA immigration officials, next time don’t give them shishi sad. They’re all rogues in uniform.

Eku quarantine grin and try and rest well. Your journey to greater heights has just begun.

All the best.

Hello
I'm also a minor , please what do you mean by custodian form

The custodian form is an IRCC requirement for minors below 17yrs seeking to apply for study permit.

It’s a document that has to be signed by an individual designated by the minor’s family as his/her guardian in Canada. The document needs to be signed before a legal practitioner in Canada with his stamp affixed. The parents of the minor applicant needs to sign the document too.

The applicant will then include it in their application before submission.

The duration is usually the same I believe 30 - 35days, it could be sooner sometimes too.

Lekiboboe:

Thanks for the bolded, it was very insightful, that means Two Work permit right?

That is
- Work Permit for the 20hr/week (during school sessions) & 40hr/week(during holidays)

- Work Permit for the Co-op ?

Hello @Lekiboboe from my understanding, normal Study Permit does not come with a work permit but rather an “authorization to work.”

That’s why it is written something like “permitted to work for 20/hrs per week during study session...” So, it’s not a work permit.

However, if your program comes with a CO-OP component, you’ll be issued with a separate Open Work Permit, in addition to the usual 20/hrs weekly authorization to work.

So yes, I’ll be getting both.

And the good thing about the co-op course is that the second semester when my co-op is expected to start, I’ll be working full 40hrs during school session (this is basically because the co-op program is essential to my studies). in addition to utilizing the 20/hr weekly authorization to work.

Can someone explain the difference between a study permit and a student visa? I know that I'll be issued a study permit upon arrival in Canada and the visa enables me to travel. However, do I apply for them together or separately? Any help?

No separate application is needed. You’ll be issued your TRV which will be stamped on your passport here. Then at the port of entry depending on the duration of your studies, your study permit will be issued.

I hope I’m clear.

It will end in praise for us all.
Congratulations once more to our recent PPR receivers.

I cannot wait to come and type my timeline.
God will do it, Amen.

Meanwhile, be positive, be happy, don't forget to live.
Happy weekend

Amen. That’s the spirit. My small advice to everyone still awaiting PPR and hasn’t done Medicals or ordered for their GCMS notes is to do so immediately.

My GCMS note was practically empty save for an update that was done on the 16th of June!

Let me just say that requesting for my notes prompted them to look into my file.

Also, I sent emails and webform to Nairobi and Lagos offices twice. I used @Awys format of pleading with them. The first one I wrote I was demanding that they expedite it because it has exceeded current processing time. They ignored me without a response grin

But they responded to the second one of me pleading with them, and told me I’ll be updated soon.

My primary office was Nairobi while the secondary was London. Those London people did nothing until my notes were requested and they started forwarding documents to Nairobi. Kai!

The same day my GCMS notes arrived my eligibility review started.

And it took them less than 48hrs to review and issue PPR!!!

Also, my program comes with CO-OP, so I’ll be getting an SW-1 study permit (that is both a Study Permit and an Open Work Permit) rather than the normal S-1 permit. I peeped from my notes that my work permit has already been issued and that gave me a glimmer of hope, cos I didn’t see anything like that in my last year’s refusal notes.

So, please everyone, let’s be proactive about our applications, rather than wait for IRCC, do an upfront medicals and order for your GCMS notes(especially if your times has exceeded normal processing times. It’ll go a long way.

Shalom!

This was a 2nd Application. First application I did not include any of the above documents. I was a complete novice. (Lol). I didn’t even include my Tuition receipt or CAC or property docs, nothing at all, just my LOA, qualifications and passport that’s all.

But thank God for Nairaland where I learned everything I needed to know for a successful application (especially, as a self-sponsored applicant).

Also, since I didn’t include vital docs in my last application, I decided to overload them with documents this time around grin grin

I keyed in to @justexcellent testimony of his approval and wrote out the same prayer points he used while I fasted earlier this year.

God bless you all richly and establish us in our quests for destiny fulfillment. A big thank you goes out to @frankrobbn, @justmellow, @justexcellent (for that wonderful and inspiring testimony), @lekiboboe for your tireless constant help here, and of course to everyone new and old who has contributed to the success of this thread thereby helping fulfill destinies. God bless and reward you all abundantly in Jesus Mighty name.

End Note: my love letter arrived while I was praying this morning by 4am. Didn’t realize it until I checked by 12noon thereabout.

Didn’t know they send PPRs on Saturdays!!!

INDEED WHAT GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST.

Please house,
When can I book for biometric....... I seem not to understand...I plan to submit my application by 13th May,
Thank you

You book for biometrics AFTER you’ve submitted your application not before. You have to pay for both application and biometrics fees at the same time on submission which is a total of CAD235.

Afterwards, a biometrics request letter will drop in your GCKey account (usually within 24hrs of submission) then you can book for it.

What you booked earlier is not valid.
