Mercychen: Actually, this happens to me to and it kinda works. But mine, if I hit my left leg, then, sometimes, something negative or bad occurs, but if it is the right one then something good occurs. This happens to my mom too and it seems like I got it from her. And mind you, I am spirit filled and committed Christian. It is not really a bad thing. Just that we must never allow our lives to be controlled by it. |

Islamisation or not, most of us no longer want One Nigeria. We want the dissolution of the country. Our ways of lives and that of the Core northerners (Hausa' fulani Kanuri) are not in anyway compatible. Is that so much to ask? If we were living separately, at least there will be no much fears, suspicion or accusations of Islamisation or Christianisation. 1 Like |

Politics / Northern Governors' Meeting On The Corpses Of Their Own People by PlatGurGongo: 11:34am On Oct 02, 2021 |
NORTHERN GOVERNORS MEETING ON THE CORPSES OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE. Few days ago, there was a meeting of all the Northern governors in Kaduna state. A meeting and an association of unscrupulous people who came out to show the world how much they despised the people they so much claim to represent. The night before that meeting, terrorists attacked villages in that same Kaduna state they held that meeting and killed dozens of innocent citizens in their sleep. It is unimaginable that these so called leaders not only went ahead with that meeting, but they barely even talked about what happened that day, rather they were all about the North retaining power and rejection of VAT policy proposals by Southern Nigerian governors. This is exactly what these people have reduced their citizens to. In a sane society, those governors in Kaduna would have at least paid a visit to Kaura LGA and commiserated with the family members and communities of the victims. Kaura is just a few hours from Kaduna city. Words and gestures of sympathy, encouragement, solidarity and support from these leaders would have gone a long way. These heartless 'Homo sapiens' we call leaders over here could not even acknowledge what happened, let alone be physically present or at least send a delegation to sympathize with the people who elected them into power. This was the reason why the Freedom fighter Nnamdi Kanu gave Nigeria a perfect description by calling a ZOO. Yet many of us came out to attack him. Infact, I think he was being too diplomatic with that name because in reality, Nigeria is a JUNGLE where the predators hunt down the prey and life goes on. Everyone for himself situation. This does not happen in a zoo where there is still some form of law and order. Lalong who claims to be the spokesperson of that union of insincere souls left his own Plateau state with several of his own innocent citizens, most of whom were children killed that same day. Till now, we are yet to see any message from him in that regards. Lalong, I will not mince words to let you that you know that you went to that meeting to represent yourself and your political ambitions and not the citizens of the Plateau who voted you into power. Enjoy your show of shame while it lasts. You claim to be supporting another president of Northern extraction, meanwhile the entire tenure of this current northern president has brought nothing other than blood, tears and sorrows on the Plateau and all over the country. As for my beloved people of the Plateau Gurara Gongola region, if at this time you still believe that your interests as a person still falls under the identity and association of AREWA, you need to think again. The Core-northerners have hardly come out to denounce this terrible position of their leaders because of their power-drunk and born-to-rule mentality, the lives of their citizens does not mean much to them. We the Middlebelters are not a power-drunk people without shame. We value and respect the lives of our people over politics. The people of Kaura in Southern Kaduna and Miango in Plateau state are celebrating their Independence day in tears, sorrows and grief and we would rather stand with them to mourn and console them rather than celebrating the Independence of a failed nation that cannot protect it's citizens from terrorists nor even sympathize with them. If you are from the Plateau Gurara Gongola region, the Middlebelt or anyone else who read this to this point, and and believe in the contents therein, please do well to share it on your wall/pages/groups with your friends and families. Politics / Re: Plateau/ Southern Kaduna People, Did We Make A Mistake By Welcoming Strangers? by PlatGurGongo: 7:44pm On Sep 22, 2021 |
Truthissupreme: Of course the Middlebelt has always been with the north from the beginning of colonialism. However, much of Igala and Idoma land was originally located in the southern protectorate. About half of Igala for example was under Onitsha province. These Igala and Idoma areas were exchanged for part of Auchi which were originally classified with the northern provinces. In 1964, there was a very bloody revolt in Tiv land against their inclusion into the Northern region. If the Yorubas and Igbos were united before Independence, they would have been able to force the Sardauna to hand over Kwara, Kogi and Benue to the south. Rather, Zik went to work with the Sardauna in order to create a Midwestern region which further weakened the Yoruba. All that identification with the core-north in Ilorin is nothing but survival politics. If Yorubas and Igbos had been united from the beginning and have fought for Kwara, Kogi and Benue to join the south, there is no way these groups would have resisted. That is what I am trying to say. These groups were forced to identify with Arewa' even though they had nothing in common with Hausa' fulani because they had no option. |

obiekunie01: Oga are you aware that our people have been fighting and resisting Fulanis for almost a hundred years before the British came? Our people were the ones that resisted Fulani jihad from reaching much of the South especially you the Igbos. Take a look at what the Fulanis did with the Yorubas at Ilorin and Kabba, the Nupes, the Hausas, the Auchi (Edo) and even the Ebiras. Do you think Igbo land would have survived one year against the jihadists? My people are the gateway to the South. If we go down, Igbo land and Southern Nigeria goes down. You can take it to the bank. |

Truthissupreme: You southerners always heap the blame on Middlebelters, forgetting that you own a large chunk of the problem. What did Awo and Zik use the power of the Western and Eastern regions to do? Instead of them to work together and divide the old northern region, by helping liberate the Middlebelt groups, they went on working against each other and struggling for who will be the Sardauna's favorite. A good number of Idomas and Igalas for example were part of Southern Nigeria together with the Igbos, but they were transferred to the Northern protectorate. Yorubas did nothing for Ilorin and Kabba people and the Ebiras and Nupes who are very similar to them. Cc Obiekunie01 Gbokasincha, Blue3k |

Fundamentalist: When you say muslims developed Kaduna, are you referring to Yoruba muslims, Egbira, Igala and Auchi muslims or core northerners? Because these other groups of muslims came to Kaduna at the same time that the Core-northerners came, If not even earlier. The biggest and dirtiest slums and neighborhoods in Kaduna are Hausa' fulani dominated areas like Mararaban Jos. I really wonder how that translates to any form of development. What a joke to say a Christian can never win elections in Jos. Apart from Gangare, Angwan rogo, Dilimi, Kwanan Shagari and Angwan Rimi, where else do Hausa' fulani migrants dominate in Jos? A huge chunk of Kasuwan dare, Rikkos and Nasarawa have Yoruba muslims and more than 20 other neighborhoods in Jos north are dominated by the Indigenes. Jos south is outside the reach of terrorists. You have millions of Almajiris and beggars and here you are talking about developing Kaduna and Jos. Why don't you use this development for Katsina, Sokoto, Gusau or Dutse? |

GBOKASINCHA: Is the person you are quoting from the Middlebelt? Why are you allowing yourself be an agent of darkness? The University of Jos main campus (permanent site) is not within Hausa' fulani areas. It is at Farin Gada and that is not a Hausa' fulani area. The Old smaller campus, yes. And when you say Hausa' fulanis have taken a big part of Jos. That is a fallacy. The whole of Jos south LGA has very few Hausa' fulanis. While Jos north east and Jos north west is still clearly dominated by the Indigenes and that is why we produce the House of assembly members in those areas. It is Jos north-north that is dominated by the Hausa' fulani. How does that translate to a huge chunk of Jos? |

obiekunie01: Not just my people alone, the entire Nigeria, including Yorubas and Southern minorities were also made to believe that. That was a pure handiwork of the British government and their British controlled media. At that time, illiteracy levels were high and the option for access to independent news through social media was non-existent. People were easily manipulated. |

obiekunie01: The narrative that Indigenous people of PLATEAU GURARA GONGOLA joined in killing Igbos during the civil war is very very false. Yes, our people in the military fought the war against Biafran soldiers, but our masses did not partake in any forms of killings. It was the Hausa' fulani muslims who did that. At the time of the war, most of our Indigenes were still in their villages and had not started living in towns and cities. However, I cannot speak for the Kogi-Benue people. 5 Likes |

Danjikanbauchi: This is no longer true. Yes, Gbagyis used to betray other Southern Kaduna tribes in the past, but no longer. They learnt their lessons since after the Kaduna series of crisis from 2000- 2005. How can you say Adara has been conquered? That is false. The problem southern Kaduna has is that they have huge forest areas and they failed to secure these forest areas. Fulanis and terrorists found these forests as safe heavens and rapidly entered into these places. However, I kind of agree that Southern Kaduna tribes are becoming weaker. The Kataf, Bajju and Jaba we used to know in those days who hardly tolerate a minute of Hausa' fulani madness, I wonder where they have gone to. Most of the youths have left the villages to Abuja, Jos, Lagos and Kaduna cities for greener pastures and that is where the Lacuna is forming. 5 Likes |

Danjikanbauchi: Jukuns are not the agressors when it comes to Tiv people. As a Bantoid people, Tivs have an expansionist Bantu culture and that is why Tivs also have boundary clashes with Igedes, Alagos, Agatus and Ogoja people. In the case of the Kutebs, I can agree that the other Jukun clans like the Wapans and Kpanzus have not managed the relationship with their Kuteb brothers well. Fulanis have been chased out of Mambilla times without number. A few years ago they were chased out. The problem is the Gashaka-Gumti forest reserve which is to the north of the Mambilla Plateau. Jukun clans must work together with Mambilla people to safeguard that forest from being a Fulani terrorist stronghold. 2 Likes 1 Share |

PLATEAU AND SOUTHERN KADUNA PEOPLE, WAS THE KINDNESS AND WELCOMING NATURE OF OUR PARENTS WORTH IT OR WAS IT A MISTAKE?? At the dawn of the colonial era around 1900, there were absolutely no to very few foreigners or settlers within present day Kaduna city, Jos, Kafanchan, Shendam, Mangu and most of the major towns/cities within Plateau and Southern Kaduna. Based on colonial records, At the time the British consolidated their conquest of present day Nigeria, there were only some few Gbagyi speaking villages on both sides of the Kaduna river in the present location of Kaduna city. While in the areas around Jos were settlements of the Anaguta (Naraguta) and neighbouring Afizere, Berom, Rukuba (Bache), Amo and Jere/Buji. Before the 1900s, very little or nothing was known about present day Jos/Kaduna cities. In the case of Jos, there are few records and oral histories that talk about the defeat of the Emir Yakubu Bauchi and his Jihadist soldiers by a combined effort of Indigenous warriors of the Anaguta, Berom and Amo, when they (the jihadists) invaded the present day Jos area of the Plateau around the late 1800s. From the early 1900s, Kaduna started growing as an urban center because it was made the capital of the new Northern protectorate (subsequently Northern region) by the British, due to it's centralized location and easy navigation through the Kaduna river which drains directly into the Niger river. Jos on the other hand began to grow due to the lucrative Tin mining industry that begun in the early 1900s. Other towns like Kafanchan also grew because it was a very important railway junction that linked different parts of Nigeria, at a time when railway was the most common means of transportation. These cities/towns started attracting people from all over Nigeria. Yorubas, Igbos, Hausas, Kanuris, Fulanis, Urhobos, Ibibios, Edos, Idomas, Igalas, Ebiras, Nupes, e.t.c came in large numbers. In fact, at the time of the Independence of Nigeria, settlers and foreigners outnumbered the Indigenous people in both Kaduna and Jos towns. Unlike in Kaduna city where the evolving settlements were very mixed in nature, with every ethnicity and religion being present in almost every neighborhood, Jos had a very different settlement pattern per neighborhood. In the case of Jos, this happened because the labourers of the Tin mines formed their own ethnic communities and were sometimes settled by the British in different neighborhoods based on their arrivals. It is a known fact that during the colonial era, the Indigenous people of the Jos-Plateau did not show much enthusiasm or interests in working on these Tin mines, hence foreign labourers had to be brought in by the British from other parts of colonial Nigeria. For example, most of the Yorubas who arrived Jos in the early 1900s were settled around Kasuwan dare/Rikkos and Nasarawa axis to the Southeast of Jos city center. The Hausas, Fulanis, Kanuris and other core-northern muslim people were settled along the Bauchi road to the northwest of the city center, while the Igbos were settled around Tafawa Balewa/Apata areas to the Southwest of Jos city center. Till today, most of these communities are still found in their majority in these areas in Jos. The numbers of we the Plateau and Southern Kaduna Indigenous people started growing in Kaduna and Jos significantly after the colonial era especially when the first 12 states were created in the late 60s after the civil war. At that time, thanks to the education that came with the missionaries, we had enough educated people to start filling up the new administrative positions that came with the new states, local government areas, districts e.t.c. These cities/towns within Plateau and Southern Kaduna kept growing in large numbers and cosmopolitanism until series of Ethno-religious crisis started from the late 80s in Kafanchan and reached it's peak from 2000 - 2010 within Jos and Kaduna cities. These conflicts (which I prefer to call CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS) ended up creating irreversible ethno-religious partitions between both Kaduna and Jos cities and elsewhere within other parts of the country. Most Yorubas, Igbos, other Southern Nigerians and people from other parts of the Middlebelt region like Benue/ Kogi who have lived and are still living in these areas can truthfully and sincerely testify of the extreme liberal and kind nature of our people, from earlier times and even till date. Before the conflicts began, and even till now, our people who are Indigenous to the areas around these cities were so generous to a fault. They welcomed the ever expanding influx of foreigners into these cities/towns with so much kindess. Landed properties were given to these settlers at giveaway prices and many times even free of charge. Food was insanely cheap and sometimes even given free of charge. This kindness even extended to our fathers freely giving their daughters for marriage to these settlers all in a bid to cement peaceful and harmonious living. This kindness and simplicity on the part of our people made both cities continue to grow rapidly even after Independence when Kaduna ceased being regional capital and when Tin mining activities on the Jos Plateau fell. In the case of Kaduna city with the Gbagyis, the 'kindness and simplicity' even became an object of ridicule and a stereotype till the late 90s. People often said that Gbagyi Indigenes sold and gave away their lands in Kaduna to settlers while they relocated further into the interior villages as the cities expanded. Now, this could be true, albeit not in the proportions of the stereotypes. This is because most of we the Indigenous people of the PLATEAU- GURARA- GONGOLA area have never been a centralized urban loving and trading people. Our lives are tied to and revolve around our farmlands. [This is with the exception of some of the Jukunoid groups and some other neighbouring groups around Taraba and the Upper Benue (Nasarawa and Plateau south) who developed an urban culture during the days of KWARARAFA] Just as the ridicule with the Indigenous Gbagyi people of Kaduna city, more and different forms of ridicule and mockery have been thrown at us by people we accommodated. From the past when these ridicules were more subtle and joking to today, now more toxic on-your-face insults. These settlers call us different unprintable names from LAZY PEOPLE to DRUNKARDS e.t.c. Apart from these continuous demeaning and insulting words of contempt thrown at us, our people have suffered untold and unimaginable forms of killings, destruction of properties and setback, this time around by settlers mostly of Core northern extraction. In places that our ancestors lived, tamed and controlled for thousands of years, with this urbanization, there are now NO-GO-AREAS for us within these cities, because apparently, those areas are now MUSLIM DOMINATED AREAS. After the various crisis that rocked these cities, many of the Indigenous people of these cities had to abandon or forcefully sell their family houses located on ancestral family lands which have been passed down for generations. In Kaduna city, with the Gbagyis, it was even worse, because most of them not only had had to sell family houses, they also abandoned or hurriedly sold off their farmlands towards some of the northern parts of Kaduna city at giveaway prices, because they could no longer access these places for fear of being killed or attacked. As a people, we have so much rescources and tourism potentials, but both local and International Investors no longer consider our homelands as viable options because of the bad name that has been brought upon our homeland. Recently, the university of Jos had to be abruptly shut down due to attacks of terrorists around the vicinity. Different states and local government areas of the country sent in vehicles to whisk away their students. To the south of Kaduna city, students were kidnapped from Greenfield University by terrorists and some of them murdered. Now, this university is owned by a Southern Nigerian who saw it fit to invest in our region. Considering this, I don't think we can be able to convince another Southern Nigerian to come and invest in our region anymore, let alone us even thinking of marketing our region to the outside world. Yes, we can say that these settlers have brought trade, commerce, innovation, capital e.t.c to our region, however when we juxtapose these benefits in the light of our current predicaments, it brings us back to the main question above. Politics / An Earnest Letter To The Indigenous People Of The Gongola Area (Adamawa) from A by PlatGurGongo: 4:35pm On Sep 18, 2021 |
(PART IV) AN EARNEST LETTER TO THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF THE GONGOLA AREA (ADAMAWA STATE) FROM A SON OF THE PLATEAU. This letter is directed to the Indigenous people of Gongola (Adamawa) state. To my brothers and sisters whose ancestors have lived and thrived for thousands of years within the region from the South of the Mandara mountains at Sukur (Madagali) all the way down to the boundaries of the Gashaka-Gumti forests (at Toungo), up to the confluence of the River Gongola/ River Benue (at Numan) to the mountainous areas south of the River Hawul (Gombi/ Hong). These are the Bachama/Batta, Chamba, Kilba, Kamwe (Michika), Marghi, Lunguda, Dera (Kanakuru), Yandang, Yungurr, Ga'anda, Gude, Fali, Mbula, Bura, Verre, Sukur, Nzanyi and dozens of other Indigenous ethnic groups with similar cultures, languages, ancestry, traditions and orientation. It is important that I specify what I mean by the Indigenous people of the Gongola area because many Nigerians including many of you my brethren from the Gongola area are not even sure what defines the Indigenous people of your homeland. Today, there are thousands of people who go about parading themselves as Indigenes of Gongola (Adamawa state), and these are people whose ancestors have not been in the region for more than 150 years. Some of them came shortly before the colonial era (around 1850) in the name of a religious jihad under the leadership of Modibbo Adama (a follower of Danfodio), but they failed woefully and couldn't subjugate or conquer the overwhelming majority of our people. Others started coming in from the far sahelian core-north during the colonial era and even till today as traders into the Gongola region. Not just in the GONGOLA area alone, but the entire region stretching down from PLATEAU and GURARA, this is the same situation where strangers, settlers and visitors come into our region and try to redefine the existence of our people who have lived within our current location for thousands of years. The question of who is a Visitor, Settler or Foreigner doesn't arise much in Plateau and Southern Kaduna anymore because we the Indigenes of these areas have been telling the entire world who we are and radically resisting every attempt of unscrupulous elements to redefine our age-long history. This is however, not the case in the GONGOLA area where these narratives have largely been left unchallenged. Today, when most Southern Nigerians hear of Jos (Plateau) people or Southern Kaduna people, they immediately have a good picture of who we are and what we stand for. However, when they hear of ADAMAWA, they are not sure of what to think about. Meanwhile, in reality, there is no difference between the Indigenous people of Plateau, Southern Kaduna and Gongola (Adamawa). We are practically and basically the same people in terms of culture, mentality, social values, customs, history, languages, ancestry e.t.c. Hear this and hear me clearly my people. No amount of lies, brainwashing or falsification of facts can change or redefine the history of the Gongola area or the wider PLATEAU-GURARA-GONGOLA region, because we the Indigenous people of these areas already had an identity before British Colonialism or any religious jihad. Our ancestors founded the ancient NOK CIVILIZATION and the centuries old KWARARAFA KINGDOM CONFEDERACY where they lived in harmony and mutual co-existence. This is the reason why every true Indigene of the Gongola area must continue to reject that evil name ADAMAWA which was imposed on us during the military rule by people who seek to redefine our history. I find it so shameful that today you see grown-up men who are Bachama, Kilba, Mbula, Marghi, Michika (Kamwe) e.t.c and they say that they are proudly Adamawa men. You may think it is just a name and not so serious, but what most of you guys do not understand is that by doing such a thing, you are insulting your ancestors and accepting defeat and subjugation by the Jihadist called MODIBBO ADAMA. A defeat which never happened. Most of us understand Hausa' language and we know that ADAMAWA clearly means the children/people of ADAMA. As a Michika man or a Bachama woman, when you identify yourself to the world as ADAMAWA, you are identifying yourself as a follower or a descendant of a Jihadist who came from Senegal to wage war against your ancestors. Do not misunderstand me my brethren, you can continue to use Adamawa for all official intents and purposes, because you have no other option as long as we all remain in the failed oppressive experiment called Nigeria. However, you must not insult your ancestors by proudly identifying yourself with the name Adamawa cos that is not your identity. As someone from the Plateau, I have always admired you my brethren from Gongola due to your very industrious, enterprising and progressive nature. The extremely high levels of education, international travel and entrepreneurial spirit I see among the Michika people, Kilbas, Marghis, Buras, Falis e.t.c is something I am extremely proud of. Most of us from Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Nasarawa e.t.c are yet to catch up with such high levels of human development. For this I say Kudos and may you guys continue to soar higher in life my brethren. Unfortunately, since 2014, when Bokoharam activities took a next level turn, hundreds of thousands of you my brethren from Gongola (Adamawa state) have been displaced from your ancestral lands in which your ancestors lived for thousands of years. Our brethren from Southern Borno have been the worst affected by this madness in the name of Religious extremism. In Gongola (Adamawa state), people from the northern parts of the state like Madagali, Hong, Gombi, Michika and Mubi which share land boundaries with Southern Borno have been the most affected. The irony of the situation is that we have no hand in this evil and decade-old sickness that has befallen our people. The majority of us are Christians and by no means took part in anyway whatsoever in the formation of this Jihadist terror group. The million dollar question is why for God's sake should we suffer for crimes that neither us nor our fore-fathers committed?? The only answer I can clearly come up with to this question is that we are clearly victims of a case of CRIME BY ASSOCIATION. As long as we continue to claim that we are from the North-east, Arewa or Nigeria, we must continue to clean up the mess that our neighbors committed. The question is, for how long are we going to continue cleaning up this mess? Our parents survived MAITATSINE and the various ethno -religious clashes that errupted all over the so called 'Northern region' around the 80s, 90s down to the 2000s. They kept on praying that things would get better and that God will intervene. Today, not only are we faced with Bokoharam terrorists from the far sahelian core-north, we are also faced with the issue of killer Herdsmen, Bandits, ISWAP and what have you (different heads of the same snake). Few years ago, a full scale invasion by these killer Herdsmen was launched against the people of the NUMAN FEDERATION. Residents from Numan to Demsa to Lamurde, Mayo-Belwa, Song and even down to neighbouring Lau LGA in Taraba were being attacked by foreign mercenaries. It was like a killing spree from village to village. The kind of weapons used by these terrorists left us wondering if Nigeria was really a country with any form of border control. Even people from parts of destabilized war-torn countries like Syria, Somalia, Yemen and Afghanistan would be shocked at these kind of weapons. Till today, there are many abandoned villages in Lau LGA of Taraba state and there has been absolutely no form of inquiries from the Federal government into what transpired. In spite of all these shocking events, a good number of we the Indigenous people from PLATEAU- GURARA- GONGOLA still have the effrontery to speak against NNAMDI KANU for calling Nigeria a zoo. I think Nnamdi Kanu was too diplomatic to call Nigeria a zoo. Nigeria is a full blown jungle. Zoos have boundaries, regulations and order. There is some form of protection against predators, poachers and other harmful vices in a zoo, but that doesn't exist in a jungle. My great Gongola people, we have to ask ourselves. Are we going to handover the baton of killings, destruction, agony and backwardness to our children or we are going to take measures to end this madness once and for all no matter what it may take? Are we going to keep on hiding in cowardice and praying for a sinking ship (Nigeria), while we loose our villages one after the other to different kinds of terrorists?? Who knows what terror group is coming tomorrow? Nigeria as a country has already proven to be a failed and incapacitated nation that is not capable of protecting our people's dignity, why then do we keep on hanging all our hopes and dreams to Nigeria? Let us take a good look at the Igbos and Yorubas, they have decided to switch their allegiances to their own regions and their proposed independent countries. This is because they believe in themselves and they know their worth. My beloved brothers and sisters, as a people, your allegiance must radically shift and only be centered to the Indigenous people of GONGOLA first and the wider PLATEAU-GURARA-GONGOLA area with people whom you share similar values with. Enough of us tying ourselves to that useless name called AREWA or NORTH where you have different unscrupulous elements who will preach peace and smile in the daytime in public and as soon as nightime comes in their secret gatherings alone, it is an entirely different subject. An evil identity called AREWA which our parents ignorantly held on to that has brought nothing but pains, tears, killings, destruction and all forms of backwardness. There are 5- 6 million Indigenous people of Gongola (Adamawa state). This population is enough to make a meaningful impact that will shake the failed Nation called Nigeria. Now imagine if we put this population together with that of our brothers and sisters from Southern Borno, Taraba, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Southern Gombe, Southern Bauchi, Niger east/FCT and Kainji (Kebbi south/Niger north). That is approximately 40 million progressive people with very similar values and orientation. Enough to match each of the 3 major ethnic groups in Nigeria (the Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa). However, this progressive feat cannot be achieved as long as we continue to radically focus our minds on our individual tribes, languages, dialects and groups. Our ancestors lived, thrived together and built successful multi-ethnic confederacies. Why then have we chosen to remain small and fragmented in the Nigeria of today that we find ourselves?? If you are a proud son or daughter of GONGOLA, you read this letter up to this point, you received this letter with a grateful heart and believe in the contents therein, please do well to share it on your wall/pages/groups with your friends and families. Politics / To The Indigenous People Of Taraba, A Letter From A Son Of The Plateau by PlatGurGongo: 6:40am On Sep 14, 2021 |
(PART III) TO THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF TARABA, A LETTER FROM A SON OF THE PLATEAU. This letter is directed to the great descendants of the KWARARAFAN CONFEDERACY. My brothers and sisters who are direct descendants of the custodians of the greatest multi-ethnic kingdom that existed in Africa and thrived for over 400 years. Just like Gongola (Adamawa state) and to a good extent other parts of the wider PLATEAU GURARA GONGOLA region. There are lots of unscrupulous elements who go about claiming to be Indigenes of Taraba state. People whose ancestors were not part of the ancient Kwararafan kingdom or have any clue as to what Kwararafa stood for. Most of these people have their origins from Mali, Senegal and the far sahelian north to the Sahara desert. Some came in the name of a failed religious jihad shortly before the colonial era while others came as traders during the colonial era. Our forefathers being an extremely kind, naive and welcoming people welcomed these foreigners with open arms but they never knew the kind of mistakes they made. Today, these aliens and foreigners are trying to rewrite the history of our ancestors. We have tolerated this nonsense and madness for too long in the name of promoting peace and unity under a very fake and disunited Nation called Nigeria. Our tolerance and peacefulness is now being used against us and every Tom, Dick and Harry now wants to take advantage of us. I am extremely proud of you my brothers and sisters from Taraba state who have managed to remain united despite all the efforts of the enemies to divide you and make you weaker so that they can take charge of the state. You my Mumuye and Jukun brothers, the two largest ethnic entities in Taraba have managed to continue to work together, united in peace and harmony, carrying along the other smaller groups of Taraba. For this, I say Kudos to you. For some time now, I have noticed that the debate sometimes come up on who is a JUKUN and who is not. There is an adage that says, when two brothers fight themselves, the stranger comes in to reap the spoils. That is exactly what happened on the Plateau and we ended up with a governor who is now actively working against the interests of our people and taking sides with our enemies. I honestly pray that such a sad situation will never befall Taraba and I hope that those of us from Plateau have learnt our lessons. Nigeria is like a jungle with different restless and hungry wolves actively on the watch looking for sheep to infiltrate, penetrate, steal from, kill and destroy. For God's sake why should the argument of who is a Jukun and who is not keep reccuring when we are all descendants of KWARARAFA? At least 70% of all the people that make up the Middlebelt region including Kogi and Benue are proud descendants of ethnic groups that were part of the great KWARARAFA CONFEDERACY. Even as far as Southern Nigeria, there are people who are descendants of Kwararafa. Whether you are Wapan, Kpanzu, Ichen, Kuteb, Wanu, Tigun, Yukuben, Jibu or Kona, all are one and the same people. Same children of a common father. I do not belong to any of these groups, neither am I from Taraba, but I proudly identify as a KWARARAFAN. I personally do not see any difference between the ways of life, culture, orientation, history and societal values between the Indigenous people of the Plateau and Taraba. Taraba is nature's wonder to West Africa. Just like Plateau state, Taraba has some of the best tourism potentials in West Africa. From the very vast virgin Gashaka-Gumti forests that posses very exotic and unique plant and wildlife, to the scenic and temperate mountainous grasslands of the Mambilla Plateau. It is such a beauty to behold. However unfortunately, we can hardly even think about harnessing these God-given potentials, because we find ourselves in a country where we are pre-occupied by Insecurity. A country where the leadership is more concerned on how to acquire the ancestral lands of the Indigenous people of Nigeria to give to their cow-herding tribesmen who come from different parts of the world. How do we market our region in positive light to the world to earn income from tourism when we are being labelled as a region and nation of terrorism? Few years ago, there was an open invasion of terrorists called Herdsmen in the northern parts of Taraba which spilled over into Gongola (Adamawa). From village to village, people were attacked and killed by foreign mercenaries wielding very sophisticated weapons. Up till today, there are many abandoned villages in Lau LGA and there has been absolutely no form of inquiries by the Federal government or efforts to resettle these displaced villagers. These same terrorists have been invading the Southern and Central parts of Taraba for many years, but I say Kudos to my Jukun and Mambilla brothers and sisters for fiercely standing strong to resist these demonic elements who are nothing but wanderers from the Sahara desert seeking for the lands of Indigenous Nigerians to grab and steal. I am extremely proud of you guys. However, we must continue to remain vigilant, standing strong to support each other. Taraba, just like Plateau are two very special places within the PLATEAU- GURARA- GONGOLA region and their so called fraudulent 'Northern region'. Both states have been very very difficult for the enemies to crack, infiltrate, manipulate and control. They have tried all their best possible tactics but to no avail. That is the more reason why both the people of Taraba and Plateau need to be united stronger as the Brethren that we are, so that we can be able to assist our Brethren in other parts of our region who have been more unfortunate to find themselves in states where they are being oppressed, suppressed, silenced, intimidated and manipulated. Posterity will not forgive us if we choose to become silent and selfish, leaving our brethren in other states to their fate and sufferings. For a long time now, there is another kind of Plague that has been bedeviling the beautiful Jewel of Kwararafa (Taraba) and unfortunately, this plague and conflict has been coming up not from foreigners or alien groups from the Sahel, rather from a people our ancestors have been neighbours with for centuries. People who we have been living side by side with and intermarrying each other for centuries. A people with whom we have been sharing similar burdens and a common geopolitical umbrella, since the existence of this terrible Nation called Nigeria. These are no other people than the Tivs of Benue state. We shall continue to sue for peaceful co-existence, mutual understanding and respect between we the people of PLATEAU- GURARA- GONGOLA and the TIVS. The entire region must be involved in this issue because it is not a Southern Taraba problem or a JUKUN - TIV problem as many people ignorantly think it is. This problem also exists in the Southern parts of Nasarawa state that share boundary with Tiv land. The Indigenous Alago and Agatu people of Southern Nasarawa also regularly have issues surrounding land ownership with the Tivs. Idomas and Igedes who are Indigenes of Benue and share land boundary with the Tivs also have issues regarding land with the Tivs. The Indigenous people of Northern Cross river state sharing boundary with the Tivs to the south (Obanliku and Obudu people, collectively knowns as Ogoja people) have also had their own fair share of bitter conflicts with the Tivs in the past over land. So, this is not just a Jukun issue. Rather it is one that needs serious understanding, caution and commitment to resolve. And by the grace of the Almighty God and commitment on our parts, it shall be resolved. My beloved Taraba brethren. It is no longer a debatable topic that the Nigeria we find ourselves today has become a country with the slogan EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF. Actually, it has always been like that from the beginning of time, unfortunately we are the ones who failed to realize that early enough. Our forefathers made up the overwhelming bulk of soldiers who fought to keep Nigeria one in the Nigerian civil war because we ignorantly believed in the unity and collective progress of this country. Unfortunately, the one Nigeria our parents died for is the same one Nigeria that is being used by our enemies to decimate and oppress us. And to this, it is hightime we said enough is enough. We should not be ashamed to recognize and accept the mistakes of our fathers, so that we can make a better society that our own children will be proud to call home. Nigeria is a union of unsuitable bedfellows and that is why it is a sinking ship. While people like us were fighting for the collective progress of this country at our own detriment, others were fighting for their own religious and ethnic agendas aimed at subjugating and stealing the ancestral lands of others. As a bonafide indigene of Taraba, whether you are Jukun, Jenjo or Mambilla, whether you are Mumuye, Yandang or Wurkun e.t.c, your only commitment and allegiance should be towards your fellow Indigenous people of Taraba and the wider region of PLATEAU GURARA GONGOLA, where you have brethren who behave, think and reason as you do. People with similar cultural values and origins. Our ancestors left us a good example with the KWARARAFAN CONFEDERACY that thrived for centuries and was very powerful and influential. A kingdom where in spite of our different languages, we lived together in harmony and were a strong force to reckon with. There are 4-5 million Indigenous people of Taraba. This population united as one is enough to make a strong impact on whatever you set your heart out to achieve. By the time this population is added to people with similar values, cultures and orientation like those of us from Gongola (Adamawa), Southern Gombe, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Nasarawa, Southern Borno, Southern Bauchi, Niger east/FCT, Kebbi south e.t c, that is approximately 40 million people. The question we have to ask ourselves today is, why are we failing and limiting ourselves by deciding to radically focus only on our individual clans and ethnic groups?? Meanwhile, the people who are actively against us are uniting themselves all across different African countries. If you are a proud son or daughter of TARABA, you read this letter up to this point, you received this letter with a grateful heart and believe in the contents therein, please do well to share it on your wall/pages/groups with your friends and families. BKayy: Yes I understand you , but you must know that In the 1960s there was so much ignorance due to the level life was at that time. Our people's only source of news for example was BBC Hausa' which was completely controlled by the British and the Sokoto caliphate. It is very different now with the Advent of social media and electronic media, we can now search history and know the truths for ourselves and that is one among many reasons why we are retracing our steps. |

omoharry: The only Middlebelt people who voted for Buhari in their majority were the Ebiras and Nupes, of course most of them are muslims and have been brainwashed to believe that a support for Buhari is a support for Islam. However, in all the areas of Plateau Gurara Gongola in the map above, Buhari did not win. He only won in places that were rigged in 2015 and 2019. |

kmcutez: It's not really about Sharia or religion. The map does not include the Nupes, Ebiras, Igalas, Idomas and Tivs. These groups are larger centralized groups who have their own platforms, orientations and struggles that are slightly different from ours. It is not synonymous to the Middlebelt. 1 Like |

Ogbuu101: Thank you for your opinion, but please the term NORTHERN CHRISTIANS does not perfectly fit or describe us. We are KWARARAFANS or at best the people of the PLATEAU GURARA GONGOLA region. What you said to an extent is true. Personally, I have been quite angry with the Yorubas for their role in bringing Buhari to power 2015, however, I don't think most of our people share that sentiments. Many who did have decided to move on. These days, we see a lot of change in body language among the Yorubas and that we see as a good sign. |
