NobiGod: @pmy Why not go for CCIE security? Great demand for it right now.

Just got back to Nairaland now after some time.

In the process, I was able to obtain my CCIE in security in late 2012 and have been working with a Cisco partner/System Integrator since then.

I've however deployed solutions in wireless, MPLS and DC. Also skilled in checkpoint and riverbed among others.

I wanted to attempt CCIE SP/DC this year but the motivation was not there.

oluchy: Pls reach across to obiikings@yahoo.com he needs a consultant for a cyber security presentation at Abuja. i am sure he will make it worth your whhile.

I'll surely reach out to him if not too late.

I was mainly at TNS institute of information technology and another institute which I really didnt enjoy.

I visited Innobuzz in New Delhi but didn't take the the course (I still feel I should have gone for it - about 40,000naira).

Still can't vouch for them though

yamakuza:

Was it ZOOM u attended?

No due to logistics and inexperience. I think their 5 courses combo may be a good start from the basics and its very cheap as well.
But if you have limited time, and perhaps a bit experienced in the industry, its good you combine with another institute for advanced courses or just do without zoom.

EMANY 01:

Just saw this thread:
Very lucrative.A friend of mine  who's had CCIE R&S for a couple of months now had been receiving something ordinary.

Can that really be true? Well ,

shemy:

Congrats, Pls i need some mentoring in this line. I am thinking of going for my master's degree in information security in Uk, is it worth starting this way or i should just register for some certifications?

No problem if you can afford it. I know a secondary school holder who earn double what computer/electronics engineering graduates earn just because he has the skills (not even certifications) and people know him.
If new in the industry, take to Ajanlekoko's advice and try to get a job as soon as possible because experience is the key. Then, after a while, you can go for your masters - if necessary.

weaseloo:

Hi, how did your training go?

Thanks it went well (3 1/2 months).
I took courses in Redhat Linux, web programming and Networking security (ccna and ccnp security)
I enjoyed it and helped me to start up in the IT industry on my return.

AjanleKoko:

You paid for a training, and you don't know what you want to do with the knowledge?
Seriously?

Of course, I saw a great opportunity which with each passing week/month, it becomes more obvious.
But at the time, I needed all the info I could gather on the subject (I still do even now).

It may interest you that, 2 months after my return, I resumed work as an IT support person and now after 3 months on the job, I'm to resume soon in one of the top 10 companies in the world when it comes to IT, telecoms ,

I really thank God for this and I know there is so much to learn with the many amazing opportunities in the industry.

@larion. I am currently taking courses in india; Delhi to be precise. I'm with 2 institutes and they are ok. One of them helped facilitate my visa for 4 months because the indian embassy in Nigeria recognise them. Even now I'm still cautious of any antics. I guess nobody is perfect. You just have to be careful.

U know the problem with most people is they fail to mind their business.
All of u should just decide not to attend the church again and see what would happen.
After all, Bakare has criticised him countless times yet ,
Hv u ever wondered why the mst criticisd pastors lk Oyedepo, T.B Joshua, Pst Chris , keep succeeding?
At a time, if still nt nw, majority of T.B Joshua congregation were foreigners.

Why hvnt u started ur own church if church 'Business' were that lucrative?

If I willingly 'dash' my money to a pastor, wht is ur problem? its my money after all?
Hv u ever calculated hw much ppl spnd on alcohol and tobacco in Nig on a daily basis?

I think the media has a part to play in this otherwise, why is it dt ppl dnt tlk about:

1. The annual scholarshp awards by d church to indigent students from all the church locations , I know ds cos i've
attended d interview b4 and hd friends/colleagues who benefitted every year (in 2005, d amount was about 25k)

2. The distribution of food and clothings to members and non members during festive periods in all the churches.

3. The health scheme where they treat ppl free at different localities.

I'm also aware that, T.B Joshua in his home town - Arigidi Akoko placed widows and many poor ppl on a monthly salary
for a long period (cnt cnfirm if still fnctional)

Even whn there ws no gsm network in Arigidi in those days, he set up a centre wt many phones where ppl were abl to
call free.

I'm sure every church in Ng has a program similar to the above.

After all said, that is not to say that churches and pastors cannot do more for example, building schools and hospitals where the poor
dnt hv to pay a dime.

Politics / Re: Buhari, Ribadu, Shekarau Pull Out Of BON Debate by pmy: 6:17pm On Mar 24, 2011
The excuse given by GEJ for not attending the NN24 debate was 'to stick with the body that had organised the debate over the years'.
As much as I agree that, NTA/BON has a wider network than NN24, it is not an excuse for any serious contender or occupier of the office of the president.

1. Even if it were a debate organised by university students or a small village, as long as they are Nigerians, he has every reason to attend. Lacking in humility and accountability?

2. it is instructive to note that, the president and his team agreed to the debate and even altered the dates. Where is his integrity?

3. The president did not deem it fit to inform Nigerians he wouldn't attend the debate and offered no apology afterwards. Is he honourable?

However, the 3 candidates have no other choice than to boycott the debate because, GEJ has shown that, he lacks : humility, integrity and honour. - nobody deals with that kind of person!
Certification And Training Adverts / Re: Best Ethical Hacking School. by pmy: 10:28pm On Mar 22, 2011
come to think of it. Is ethical hacking even needed in Nigeria? I'm not sure the industry is prepared for it. perhaps its just Nigerians' rush for certificates
